[Q] Xrecovery question - Xperia Play General

can we install xrecovery on a rooted, unlocked boot loader xperia play?
or is it just for x10, x8...?

You can only use cwm. Which comes free of charge with dooms kernel. Even if you don't need any of the features of the kernel, it's still great to be on. And you get recovery!! Try it out

is that the same clockwork mod from the market?

I think they can work together. In the sense that if u have recovery installed clockwork mod can reboot into it. But they are 2 separate things. I think.
The only way to have a permanent recovery installed that I currently know of, is by installing dooms kernel (version 2 and up).
If your bootloader is unlocked, its as simple as running your phone in fastboot for a couple of seconds as it installs your new kernel. Try it out. You won't regret it I've been on doomlords kernel since version 1 ^_^

Lost haptic feedback

Im flashing different kernel in my simply honey 3.5 JVH. Using sgs kernel flasher and after trying out 3 different kernel. And went back and flash one of my kernel backups. The stock kernel that comes with the rom. My home button does work but dont have haptic feedback. But the rest works perfectly. I know somebody can point me what did i mess up in my phone. And give me a good fix.... thanks in an advance...

The kernel with that rom is a custom kernel and key layout is designed in the rom for it only. If you've done the back up and don't have haptic that's very odd as haptic is now native to Samsung GB. I suggest re-flashing the kernel by using sgs kernel flasher and choose the rom zip as the kernel. It will auto extract only the kernel.
Other than that you can reflash the rom by simply flashing cf-root 3.2 and then use cwm app to flash the rom. It wont do a wipe this time because the new script will auto detect that you already have 3.5 so all your settings and apps will remain intact.

Rooting apk for galaxy 2.3.4

Looking for an apk that will do this for me as z4root and gingerbreak won't work.
If you want root, why don't you flash a custom kernel, then boot into recovery and you will find an option for root built in, most will even install superuser for you too, with one click.
Tried using rom manager, 1 click speedmod but cant unless the phone is rooted
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You need to look at the threads in Dev section for the likes of speedmod or Galaxian Kernels, you download the kernal and Odin, connect the phone in download mode and then flash the kernal as PDA (i think), then reboot your phone, reboot again into recovery and you will have CWM built in with root options, no need for rom manager...
Just make sure you pick the right Kernel for your current rom!!!
Yes but the point is i want to know if its possible via an apk . I know how to flash

Since 2.2.1 it's been impossible to root the SGS without outside tools.
What are you hoping to accomplish?
I dont know maybe a portable root unroot apk for gingerbread, I can do it by pc but it would be good to do it via apk
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
seriously man. you are dumb. ukdtweak already give the clear answer for you.
Download this pacakage http://www.4shared.com/folder/sMLqbTXo/_online.html and istall via Odin.
Best
I think he know to root via install custom kernel, but he want to find another root menthod using app on the phone, doesn't need PC to flash custom kernel
this is the apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
so it DOES exist. seems some i9000 users were able to make use of the apk successfully, while most were not. and this is with 2.3.3. i suppose the chances of it working on 2.3.4 are even more unlikely.
Thank, you very much guys i would thanks you all but cant from the xda app

think best will be root with odin...
Does SuperOneClick work with 2.3.4?...

Gingerbread
I know of no apk.
Unfortunately the first root has to be done via Odin. All other rooted roms can be done via clockwork mod. Rom manager screws up when using it from desktop. 2 roms come into my thoughts: Cognition and Insanity. I downloaded a 3.3.4 rom, in the past and flashed via Odin and totally bricked my other phone. You can use Samfirmware.com for the latest secure rom and then find a rooted rom , of the same number and flash via Odiin.

Super 1 click must have a kernel which is unlocked to root the rom.

Bypass bootloader to recovery:)

Hi, I found this accidentally. I'm on 2.3.4 stock rooted with locked bootloader.
1. You must have root.
2. Install Rom Manager from Market
3. Open Rom Manager and flash ClockworkMod Recovery
4. Turn off you phone and connect to the wall outlet charger and its going to bypass bootloader and open recovery
That's all I found it by accident

This isn't news, clockworkmod is on most people's phones here, from a few different sources. Did you know you can install themes, radios, fonts, bootanimations, all kinds of things from recovery? Check out the development forum.
Yes but you don't need to unlock the bootloader to install rom's.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Incorrect.
If you try flashing a ROM right now you will brick your phone. We could get into a bootstrap recovery before the bootloader was unlocked, but if you installed a different system the phone would catch that upon next boot and won't start up. I believe it's at least something like that... You need an unlocked bootloader, basically!
If I install a different rom its not going to boot in to the rom? Why not?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Because your bootloader isn't unlocked lol, that's the whole point of the locked bootloader.
Why don't you just unlock it so that you CAN install custom ROMs?

ROM Manager installs recovery over the stock recovery, which is in the fastboot menu prior to loading the boot image. You can get into stock recovery prior to booting, but it basically does nothing. The ROM Manager recovery is semi-functional but doesn't wipe anything, which fails with installing. Romracer's recovery appears to be fully functional. After anything is installed in recovery, you will need to reboot system to initiate the bootloader. The bootloader has to load the kernel as well as the system/ROM for you to get into the environment. The bootloader checks that the signatures of the kernel and ROM match what it is expecting to see or you will get a brick. Unlocking the bootloader still loads the bootloader, but avoids the checking of signatures of kernel or ROM, if I understand correctly.
Ok but its going to let me install a rom, isn't the bootloader spouse to stop it from installing?
I just made a backup and it let me.

Since you say you are locked, and you installed a ROM from ROM Manager, hope that you can get into RSD since you seem insistent on booting this up.

RSD Lite is Moto software, not for public use but leaked, that is needed for loading stock boot files (SBF). Check the development forum for all details about what you are doing/about to do/have done.

STOP doing ANYTHING to your phone RIGHT NOW. take some time to read several of the threads on the development forum and verse yourself in what RSD, SBF, fast boot, recovery, boot loaders and pudding are. there are LOTS of guides for beginners on how to change ROMs on the phone. what you're doing is NOT one of them.
if you do anything else with your phone right now without reading up and knowing what you're doing, you WILL **** up your phone.
This seems to be a troll attempt or an attempt to look really stupid, either way, the user doesn't seem to want to hear out anyone telling him to stop what he's doing, so I say just let him figure it out the hard way.

Problem flashing kernel.

Hello,
I have a problem trying to flash a new kernel. I'm currently on android GB 2.3.7 with DoomKernel GB. So I tried to update to ICS (MooDeD's ROM) but that didn't work, so I figured I had to update to the DoomKernel for ICS. I did everything right following the instructions but in the command, when I try to send the boot.img, it takes FOREVER. Literary 1 hour, and it isn't even done yet! I checked if it was recognized with the test command and it was responding so idk what I'm doing wrong. Please help.
I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, MooDeD GB 2.3.7, and DoomKernel GB, PC is Windows Vista.
Thanks.
Restarted your P.C, rebooted your Phone?
On my old pc the android sdk didn't work so i just used flashtool. You can use it to flash a kernel too. Just select fastboot mode and then flash kernel.
