Some help regarding... everything! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello everyone!
This is my first post in this amazing community but it's definitely not the first time i am visiting it.
I just bought myself a new Huawei Ideos X5, after a lot of research of course, and i'm really glad i did because the phone fulfills all of my needs and coming from a Nokia 5800 and Symbian OS i see a majore difference in productivity, speed and entertainment in Android OS!
What i would like to know is what are the steps i have to take in order make my phone better overall.
I don't want to be like the classic noob who has just joined a community and starts asking questions without reading anything at all so i need to know if these are what i have to do:
Install clockworkmod by replacing recovery.img(where can i find this file? do i just connect the phone with usb to my pc and it's somewhere in there?)
Choose the rom of my taste and put the zip in the root of the phone and install using clockworkmod?
What about these custom kernels? Should i install any of those too?
Thanks in advance!
*P.S* English is not my native language so excuse me if what i am writing makes no sense :/

You are definately on the right track
The best guide I have seen, is the Ultimate guide to the Huawei U8800 at MoDaCo forum. There you will find all the basics.
Personally, I have installed the latest MIUI ROM (1.9.2), the latest FF Kernel, the Ram optimization script by Juwe11 and the 4-way reboot menu mod by roenano.
Everything is installed via CWM.
Good luck!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Users should be 100% sure that they have NON Pro version cause right now ROMs are for U8800 version only not U8800 PRO

Ok, but where can i find the recovery.img? Should i use a program or something to find it?

Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14870348
Here are the instructions:
1) Extract the recovery.img from the zip file.
2) Switch off the phone.
2) Hold Power, VOL+ and VOL- (should come up with pink/purple screen)
3) Connect to computer.
4) Go to My Computer and Browse your phone to find the folder with recovery.img in a folder called "image"
5) Replace the recovery.img with the one you extracted from the zip file, but make a backup of the original one...you never know when you need it.
To check if the recovery replacement was successful, just power of the phone and hold VOL+ and Power.
But before going for CWM and a customer ROM, I would strongly recommend flashing the latest stock Rom available!

Ok thanks but where can i find the latest stock rom? And how should i flash it? Using Perfect Recovery?
Also once i manage to install latest stock rom and then custom rom should i install franco kernel the same way?

Stock Roms installation is automatic, no need to go into recovery. Just follow the instructions I just sent you on the PM.
I would recommend installing Oxygen and testing that for a few days before flashing Franco kernel.

Iconia Common Questions & Answers

I've seen the following things asked again and again and again, and yet there seems to have been no attempt to make a Q&A for our tablet, so I figured I might as well take a shot, especially now that the mods have given us a proper Q&A section. I don't expect this to be fully comprehensive, but I'll try to cover the important stuff at least!
1. Q: I have an A501, can I use one of the A500 roms, either stock or custom?
A: No, absolutely NO! Well, actually, you CAN, but if you do you WILL lose 3G capability, so don't. There are currently no custom ROMs available for your tablet, sorry. Hopefully that will change soon.
2. Q: Can I root my A500?
A: Yes. There was originally a modded Gingerbreak root for the Iconia, but it only worked on 3.0.1 and has now been superseded by an updated root method. See the following thread for more information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228
3. Q: Is the bootloader really locked?
A: Yes and no. The bootloader itself isn't actually locked as such, but the ROM *is* protected by a hash key. This has been bypassed thanks to sc2k with a great utility called "itsmagic".
4. Q: So how do I use "itsmagic"?
A: The easiest way is to install the custom version of Clockwork Mod, by thor2002ro. See the following thread for more information.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126364
5. Q: Wow, I'm a newbie and installing that looks complicated. Is there an easier way?
A: Absolutely! Install the Acer Recovery app and it will take care of installing Clockwork Mod AND itsmagic for you, as well as backup your stock recovery!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.interphaze.AcerRecoveryInstaller
6. Q: I'm scared of Clockwork Mod, is there an easier way to install a custom ROM?
A: Absolutely! From the makers of Acer Recovery, there's the Acer ROM Flasher app!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.interphaze.Acer_ROM_Flasher
HOWEVER This app does NOT run the "itsmagic" utility (yet), so it's probably better for you to flash from CWM for now (Thank's Euclid's Brother for pointing this out!)
7. Q: Hang on a minute, can't I use the Clockwork Mod that's on the market? How about ROM manager too?
A: Simple answer? No. Our Clockwork Mod is a custom built that runs the "itsmagic" utility at the right time, preventing people from accidentally bricking their tablets. Do NOT use the one on the market or you will brick. As for ROM manager, it's not compatible, sorry. Use the Acer ROM Flasher application instead
8. Q: OK, so I'm rooted and I've got Clockwork Mod installed, now what?
A: The absolute first thing you should do, EVER, before installing a new ROM, is to make a backup of your current on. This feature is built into Clockwork Mod and is really easy to use. Do it.
9. Q: OK, I made a backup, now what?
A: Visit the Developer section of the A500 forums here on XDA-Developers, and you'll find several excellent custom ROMS, as well as links to stock ROMs, for your ROM flashing pleasure.
10. Q: I don't want to install CWM, I just want to flash a new stock ROM, how do I do that?
A: There are several threads detailing this, but to summarise, there are several things you'll need to do.
1. Locate and download the stock ROM you want.
2. Unzip this ROM to your PC. If you get a message about an invalid ZIP file, then you'll almost certainly need to run it through the Acer Update Decrypter first. See below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099673&highlight=acer+recovery
3. Once opened, extract the update.zip file found inside this zip.
4. Copy update.zip to the root of your external SD card. NOT the devices internal storage. It won't work from there.
5. Make sure you have more than 60% battery, or plug in to the AC adapter, and turn your device off.
6. Hold down the Volume Down key (the left side of the rocker when device is in landscape orientation), and hold down the power key. Keep both held down until you see 3 rows of white text in the top left corner of the screen. Your device will now flash the update.zip on your SD card.
NOTE: There are several types of update you can flash.. Many are incremental updates and will be smallish (40mb or so). This can NOT be flashed on a device that has had ANY changes at all made to any preinstalled files, as this is an incremental update. However, if the update is 300+mb in size, it's almost certainly a full ROM and should flash fine. If it doesn't though, try a factory reset first.
11. Q: I cannot connect to my WIFI hotspot, why?
A: There are 2 possible reasons, so it depends on exactly what problem you're having.
1. The Iconia does not seem to support wifi ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) mode. To connect to this kind of hotspot, you will need to modify a file called "wpa_supplicant" and you must be rooted to do this. See below for instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060909&highlight=ad+hoc
2. Alternatively, if you're just getting a constant loop of "Connecting...", and never get an IP address, Acer have issued a patch for this, but it's for specific ROM's only. You can find this on the Acer update site, or can download directly below. Full instructions are included inside the ZIP file.
http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...AB&Step3=A500&OS=a07&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27
12. Q: Help! I have a checksum error!
A: You probably flashed something and didn't run itsmagic... This is potentially very serious, but all is not lost. sc2k has been kind enough to provide instructions on how to fix it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129873
<Reserved>
Well done. Quite comprehensive.
Just want to point out.. the Acer ROM Flasher (not to be confused with Acer Recovery Installer) does not run itmagic.... (yet..) It was made for a very specific purpose and has not been updated since itsmagic came out.
So, If you use Acer ROM Flasher, which will flash boot.img and system.img, make sure you run itsmagic yourself BEFORE flashing the images. I'll update it to include itsmagic when I have time.
Acer Recovery Installer is really the best way to go. Then use Clockworkmod for your backup/restore and custom rom installation.

[HOWTO] Update to 4.0.3 OTA ICS from any version with Root access (For I9020T/I9020A)

Okay First of all download the following files
a)http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_crespo/VQ8PQk_V.zip (4.0.3 OTA)
b)http://android.clients.google.com/p...a25375426.signed-soju-ota-189904.1ada2537.zip (2.3.6 Official I9020T Build)
c)http://bit.ly/su2361ef (SU flashable)
d)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686 (Grab recovery form this thread)
e)http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (Grab the android SDK installer)
f)http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=687157&d=1313224429 (Radio file only required for I9020A)
Okay so when done with all that proceed as follows
1) Backup your current apps using Titanium Backup (Optional/Recommended)
2) Backup(Nandroid) your rom using backup option in CWM (Optional/Recommended)
3) Do a full wipe, wipe sdcard, system, data, cache Transfer a,b,c,f to your phone.
4) Flash the 2.3.6 Official I9020T Build you had downloaded using the install zip option in CWM (IMP-DO NOT REBOOT RIGHT NOW)
5) Flash the flashable SU file you had downloaded and then reboot.
6) Once your phone is on, continue to set up your account or skip it as you wish. (Optional)
7) Open up market, download the latest SU app, Voodoo OTARootKeeper, Titanium Backup and any other app you use that requires root.
8) Open the updated SU app, hit menu button and click preferences, go all the way down, click on su binary(tap to check for updates) , and make sure it updates to v3.0.3
9) After that is done, open and allow root permissions to all your root apps. (This is important)
9.5) Run Voodoo OTARootKeeper and click on protect root, make sure all options get checked.
10) Turn off phone, keep volume up and power pressed to boot into fastboot.
11) Select recovery with volume buttons and use power to launch.
12) Once you see a android bot image and an arrow image, keep volume up pressed and press power once, then you'll see some options appear.
13) Select apply update option and find the official 4.0.3 OTA file you had downloaded and flash. Reboot.
14) Once you have booted into ICS, go to Voodoo OTARootKeeper and select resture Root, all options should now be ticked, if not something went wrong.
15) Voila, you have root. Now to get back CWM recovery you can follow this -
i) Place the recovery img file in the android sdk platform-tools folder
ii) Switch to the directory where you unzipped the Android SDK & go to "tools"
iii) Then type "fastboot flash recovery yourfilename.img" & hit enter
iv) That should do it.
v) Optionally you may do it form Rom Manager too, if it works.
16) (ONLY FOR I9020A) Reboot phone, turn it off, boot into fastboot, select recovery, CWM should launch, flash the radio file you had downloaded to get radio working on I9020A (ONLY FOR I9020A)
Root only works for the apps that were installed while on 2.3.6
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip , use this root file, flash it in cwm, everything works, permissions etc.
This might work for other variants, tested on I9020A and I9020T, I take no responsibility for anything that might go wrong with your device. I take no credit for any links or procedures provided in this guide, I just tested and compiled.
Thanks and best of luck.

Do I really need to flash official 2.3.6 before ICS? what if I wipe and format then install 4.0 immediately?

Might not work, though you can try, if it fails, do it my way, also its impossible to get any kind of root that way.
Link for the ATT Radio doesnt seem to be working
Great work!
wipe SD card?
Is this necessary?
I don't think it's necessary to wipe the SD card, I followed the procedure in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396913 and although it said my SD card would be wiped, everything was still there after I was done!
Anyone on a i9023 tried this?
Hmm...does "any version" includes M200(Korean Nexus S)?

I think he meant that for the 9020A radio
Link fixed, sorry for that, SD wiping might not be necessary, but I suggest as it makes it cleaner. Might work for I9023 and M200, I have no clue, maybe some experienced developer can answer that better.
Not to crap on a great tutorial, This is exactly what I would be looking for if I were not already set up and running. Last night was a dizzying whirlwind of flashing, high heart rates and finally becoming familiar with fastboot and flashing things like that.....lol
But in the end I simply found a cwm flashable zip without radio or bootloader and installed through cwm like any other rom. As far as root all I did was flash a zip file found on the forums and I was good to go.
Hi mine keeps hanging in the boot animation and can't get into recovery, what else can i do? Is my phone bricked?
little hiccup at step 12. im getting the android bot with exclamation mark but i press volume up with power and nothing happens. menu doesnt show up....
Edit: NVM... i pressed it 3 or 4 times and it finally worked

Many ways of doing it, I just am suggesting one, the flashable zip for ics isn't available as yet, what did you flash?
i9020 keeps getting status 7 aborted and my padlock is still unlocked on t-mobile 2.3.6
Has any tried this on an i9023? Thank u

Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.67
Build number: A3500FL_A442_01_25_140823_SE
BB Chip: MT6582
MS Board. A3500FL
Bar code: this was my device's serial number
SW Ver.: ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.10
Custom Build Verno.: 1408775889
Managed to get cwm and root with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...vo-a3500-h-t2879208/post55491817#post55491817
Modified the guide for Lenovo A3500-FL!
EDIT: Also some users have reported that this guide doesn't do the trick or is out-dated, so copypasted the guide from this post here.
Guide
1. Download attachment cwmRecovery.zip and download latest Flash_tool (version 5.1352.0) can be downloaded from here)
1.1. Enable USB-debugging. (How to do this)
2. Manually install the drivers from the attachment a7_40_drivers.zip for the LenovoTablet before plugin it to computer (win7 dirvers work for win8 too).
2.1. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 7: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/3914-windows-7-how-to-install-unsigned-drivers
2.2. To install unsigned/uncertified drivers on Windows 8: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
2.3. After you have disabled the driver signature verification, you can install the drivers like this: Right click My computer, Manage, Device Manager, right click your computer at the top, Add Legacy hardware, next, Install plapla manually, next, Show all Devices, Have a Disk.., Browse to the driver folder where you unzip them, choose example windows7 and the 64 version (win7 drivers work for win8.x too), install every device. Then follow the guide.
(Note: Otherwise Windows only installs the normal automatic drivers and its more difficult to install the other drivers.)
2.4. Plug your device to PC.
3. Download the latest supersu zip file (version 2.46) from attachments or from https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
3.1. Move the zip.-file to the Sdcard.
4. Turn off your device.
5. Unpack cwmRecovery.zip
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights.
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder).
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2. Press Download.
7.3. Connect your device.
7.4. Wait few seconds.
8. Have CWM on your device .
9. Unplug your device.
10. . Boot to cmw recovery by turning off your device. Then press and hold VOL DOWN + VOL UP and then also press and hold POWER for about 7 seconds.
10.1. Choose " Install zip from sdcard." (To confrim always use the Power Button)
10.2. Choose "zip from sdcard".
10.3. Select SuperSU-v2.46.zip from sdcard and apply.
10.4. Have a rooted tablet.
It might be necessary to always flash the CWM with the Flashtool directly before you startup the device. Otherwise it will start the original AndroidRecovery again.
It might also be necessary to use different drivers from here.
If the supersu zip doesn't install, try toggling the signature verification to disabled from cwm->install zip from sdcard->toggle signature verification.
Tested and working on Levono A7-40 3500-FL with kitkat update, build number A3500FL_A442_01_25_140823_SE, from ota. Attached screenshot for proof. Also other people have reported that this works for later updates too, for example A3500FL_A442_01_27_141127_SE.
You can update to the latest OTA firmware by first going back to stock recovery. See the second post for the guide.
Thanks and credits go to: @Koli96 and @bobais
How to go back to stock rom/recovery and update to latest Lenovo OTA firmware update
So, it's pretty simple, you take the stock_recovery.zip from the first post, extract it, and replace recovery.img in the recovery folder with the stock one.
Then :
Quote:
4. Turn off your device.
6. Run Flash_tool.exe with Admin Rights
7. Chose Scatter-Loading and choose MT6582_Android_scatter.txt (in Recovery folder)
7.1. Now you will see checekd only one checkbox - recovery, if not click on it and choose recovery.img
7.2.. Press Download
7.3. Connect your device
7.4. Wait few seconds.
And that's it !
On a side note, if it seems stuck on a black screen with a loading circle after factory reset, you have to put the tablet in landscape mode and restart (the shutdown menu appears without any problem) - this issue doesn't seem related to recovery, but a bug within lenovo firmware and the first configuration screen.
Side note 2: The first boot after flashing new update might take 15mins.
Side note 3: After updating to the latest OTA you can go back to cwm recovery with the guide from the first post.

I got the same tablet and I also am looking for a root. :/
Another waiting for rooting lenovo owner.
Same here, i was looking for a root guide and i couldn't find anything.
Does anyone else has a problem with long charging times?
Well it charges long and the charge stays long, so no issue here.
Seems that not that many lenovos root easily, but of course this is a pretty new device(?).

Installed everything and tried vroot once again (I have tried it before).
Still not rooted. And btw that vroot at least tries to install bunch of bloatware crap on the pc.
Edit:
I would suggest for anyone who installed Vroot to your pc to scan the whole pc after you uninstall the vroot.
Here are the scanning tools:
Malwarebytes
adwcleaner
superantispyware
hitmanpro

I got a successful root by flashing Recovery.rar from lenovo-forums.ru, (it's easy to google, I'm not allowed to post links) with the included SPFlash Tool and afterwards flashing the needed SU binaryies and apk. However, this will mess up the OTA updates, and I can't find the stock recovery again.
Therefore, I really beg anyone having the stock recovery to post it, enabling us to switch between them, whenever we want to apply any OTAs.
Thanks a lot!

Well I very highly doubt that there will be any more updates for a device with this price range. And since the next android version is the L version, which requires more work than before.
Edit2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-lenovo-a3500-h-t2879208 found this. Tested and it works. Will edit it to the first post.
The same as me

Rooting..
Yes indeed, that's what I'm trying to do. Rooting the A3500-FL. According to the instructions you need to install the SuperSU from a zip on your SD card. When I try do that it gets interrupted every time. Installing recovery went well. So I'm not getting what I do wrong? Any ideas?

Thanks for the help so far. But now I'm starting to doubt that the CWM install went successfully. Let me show you a picture of my screen after a failed install of the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip -file. (ht_tps://ww_w.dropb_ox.com/s/1wrnatzjk2gn42h/2014-10-09%2008.50.40.png?dl=0) (slightly modified link because of forum rules, just take out the _) I'm using the "apply update from sdcard" option, then I browse to the SuperSU.zip -file and apply it. Then it starts installation, but aborts it in a few seconds. So am I booting to just a normal recovery mode and not CWM? (Sorry if all this seems totally ignorant, I have only flashed roms before, never rooted a new device)

Yup.. This is the problem. The recovery runs fine from Flash Tool and claims it installs it. (Download ok) But I still don't seem to have CWM on the device. It's just normal recovery mode. So any ideas about the CWM-installation? What could possibly go wrong? I get no error messages. Cheers.

[Guide] How to port Cwm or CTR recovery for any device

Port recovery to any Device, snapdragon, mediatech doesn't matter
Hi guys...
Once again i am back with an Extreme guide...
Its about porting Recovery if you don't have source or if you like to use your own thing...
Ok lets start......
Do it with your own risk, I am not responsible for anything happens to your mobile, friends, family and etc
Click to collapse
Requirements:
1. Android Kitchen or Android image kitchen (Search on xda or
google)
2.NOTEPAD++ (Search on google)
3. Flash tool (flashify, rashr etc)
4. Cygwin ( if you are using Windows)
5. Recoveries that you want to port, must be from same structured chip set device, and same resulotion
Tips: Search on Google on how to set up android kitchen with cygwin
Step:1
Frist take your stock boot.img, stock recovery.img and
any other recovery like CWM or CTR (Without
TWRP)
Tips: If you don't know how to get a dump of boot.IMG or recovery.IMG, Google is there to help you! You can also use Diskinfo to get partition info, download it from play
Now put them in safe folder and unpack boot.img in a
new folder, then unpack Stock recovery in another
folder and unpack your cwm or CTR recovery in
Another folder.......
All done!!
Tips: search Google how to unpack .IMG with android kitchen or android image kitchen
Click to collapse
Step:2
Now go to your unpacked boot.img and then go to "ramdisk" folder then copy these files and paste it
to your recovery (whitch you want to port)
1.meta_init.modem.rc
2.meta_init.project.rc
3.meta_init.rc
Done! :3
Click to collapse
Step 3:
Now go to your unpacked stock recovery and copy "(#Kernel)" and paste it to your unpacked recovery (Which you want to port). Then again go to unpacked stock recovery>ramdisk and copy these files and paste them in your unpacked recovery>ramdisk (which you want to
port) and replace them all...
1.fstab
2.ueventd.rc
3.ueventd.goldfish.rc.
Done!
Click to collapse
Step 4:
Now go to your stock unpacked CWM or CTR and go to
ramdisk/etc and copy ( recovery.fstab ) and paste
it to you unpacked recovery (which you want to
port) /ramdisk/etc and replace......
Done! Now go to your unpacked recovery (whitch
you want to port) then go to ramdisk and open
default.prop and ask also open the default.prop. compare them, change the values of port recovery according to stock recovery.
All Done!
Click to collapse
Finel step :
Repack the ported cwm, take it to your phone and open any flash tools and flash your new recovery!!
Click to collapse
N.B.--> This method will not work in TWRP porting beacuse porting TWRP is different...
Sometimes your new recovery may not work...if it does not work then try again with new recoveries from different device or redo the whole thing
I hope this post was helpfull and if you
successed to port your new recovery then dont
forget to give me some credits
if you like this post then click on :good: button... It may increase the rate of
giving new guides... :highfive:
Hi, I am trying to do a CWM recovery for Amazon fire phone which is a Snapdragon 800 - unfortunately i cannot find any custom recoveries which have the amazon fire phones resolution of 1280 x 720 can you advise if there is a workaround for this situation?
Hey there, if you are porting cwm, the resolution isn't gonna be a problem. Find same structured device and you would be good to go.
Edit: the fonts will maybe look smaller.
But if you are porting CTR recovery the resolution would be a problem, it will cause you touch problem in recovery
Thanks. One problem right at the first hurdle is in step 2
i do not have these files in my boot ramdisk folder
1.meta_init.modem.rc
2.meta_init.project.rc
3.meta_init.rc
Attached is a screenshot of what i have in mine?!?
Can I get a screenshot of the unpacked recovery ( that you want to port)? I want to compare these files
The screenshot of the unpacked Recovery's ramdisk folder actually
Sure, attached. This is my recovery from my Amazon phone and also the recovery for a nexus 5 which uses the same processor
Init.rc, ueventd.rc, replace these two files
Snapdragon device's boot and recovery structure is different, I thing I have to do the tutorial again with snapdragon details
BTW is there any other version of cwm available for your device? You can take a look inside that recovery for more info. And if your device has source, I recommend that building it from source would be best for you
Hi, I actually just built from source but nothing happens when phone should go into recovery. Just stays on the Amazon screen. I then flash the stock recovery back and it works fine. I'm pretty sure that i compiled it correctly as i got no errors used CM11 as source. (Attached if it helps)
To be honest it was a shot in the dark anyway as the phones bootloader is locked and i was trying with flashify.apk
Have you tried grabbing a logcat after rebooting from recovery?
Thats my next step
And what does the logcat says?
Please help.
I have got an android device with Broadcom Processor with android 4.4.2. I had tried to learn using Ubuntu and tried to build recovery from source. But, it seems a clumsy path and hard to understand. I could not finish syncing repo and retired from my trial a month ago. Can I use this tutorial to port recovery to my device? How can I know which CWM for an android can be ported to mine?
bro this is not working for snapdragon devices. as i am not getting meta files into its recovery not even in the ported one.
I can't understand the which recovery is which, like in Step 3 you said Stock recovery and unpacked recovery (Which you want to port) where i guess stock is the original recovery and unpacked is CWM/CTR.
But on Step 4 you said:
"go to your stock unpacked CWM or CTR and go to
ramdisk/etc and copy ( recovery.fstab ) and paste
it to you unpacked recovery (which you want to
port) /ramdisk/etc and replace."
so stock unpacked CWM is CWM but which one is he unpacked recovery now?
bro i have micromax a108 with mt6582m chipset and i want to port ctr for my device but i am not getting and recovery developed for mt6582m devices
Please write a new guide for Qcom Chipset !

How to Flash RUU(for HTC Desire 820q Dual SIM):
1- Download the *.zip(RUU) file from here:
ir-file.com/portal/index.php?dir=Firmware/HTC/HTC_Android/A50_DTUL
Note: The zip will not extract, you have to use it directly without extracting. So don't bother trying to extract the zip, it will always give you error.
2- Rename the file to "0PF6IMG.zip"
3- Put the file on SD card and insert it into mobile!
4- Reboot into bootloader and it will ask you if you want to update.
Note: Turn off your phone, press and hold POWER and VOL DOWN.
5- Press VOL UP to say yes.
6- Wait about 20-30 minutes!
7- Done! You've flashed RUU file successfully!
BTW I tested this RIGHT NOW on my phone and it works!
I used this: 0PF6IMG_A50_DTUL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_hTC_Asia_India_1.01.720.2_Radio_01.01.010_U1030433_08.01.1017_release_398545_combined_signed.zip

yup it works, but will this work on a bricked Htc? One guy told me you can flash this after renaming it to firmware.zip using-
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Can you try this and post back? I want to build a rom for this device but i dont have the official firmware which i can use to unbrick it (if it the phone bricks). Official Rom files like system.img, boot.img and recovery.img are not available for this device anywhere on internet, i have been searching since 2 months but i got only this 0PXXIMG which you and OP posted. (i got the same file on other websites after searching a LOT)

yeah I also tried that but didn't work! (The problem is our "*.zip" RUU file is to large to be transferred through fastboot USB! the error was something like this: the file is to large!)
And also, if a device is bricked(hard bricked; not soft bricked), you cannot use fastboot commands! Because you can't access bootloader to use fastboot and "fastboot oem rebootRUU"!

i mean, if bootloader is accessible, does this work on a device which has a custom rom installed (or in general, on a modified system).

If you access bootloader, you can use both ways!(either you have stock or custom ROM) But I guess the "fastboot" method does not work with 1.0 GB files or larger!

And you are right regarding file size limit, fastboot allows only files upto 256mb on moto e. I dont know if this is an issue with fastboot our with device under consideratron.
