I want to put froyo on my htc hero

Im looking to put froyo onto my htc hero. Can anyone provide some advice as to how i should approach doing this.

Why froyo?? Jump to Gingerbread .. Our Heroe's can run gingerbread thanks to the lovely Dev's and there's two of them ( infact 4 in total ) you can try out in the development section .. check them out

Just Replace Ur Recovery to RA 's one andthen Flash Ur Rom

Actually I prefer Froyo, but only because it's alot smoother. I dunno about benchmarks and stuff, but it does run more smooth than any of the Gingerbread roms I've tried.
Though if you can survive with a little bit of stuttering, go TastyGinger (by RaDuG) or Elelinux' Gingerbread. If you want Froyo, I strongly recommend Cyanogen 6.1.

Ok so at the moment i have froydvillain which is ok but am looking to use cyanogen mod. I installed the file (update-cm-6.1.0-rc1-hero-signed.zip) on my htc hero and it worked perfect except the rom didnt have a market for buying apps? Anyone know why or how to get it?

hmm you'll probably need to flash a gapps package as well...search for it on the cyanogen site

Although there are not much unique features on our phone, AFAIK it is an international version with Asian firmware, I think this thread will be useful in helping out other pinoys specially those who are new. And also will keep them informed about the current and upcoming trends in PHP.
First question, anong latest version ng stock firmware jan? (I converted my phone's product code from GLB to XEU) Does Globe has plan to keep it updated?

Latest stock F/W is still froyo... gingerbread is still not here in philippines... globe doesnot really support... they dont even know about it... i run rooted... plus we have just been introduce to android so i dont think that they have any idea about it... im on XEE just to run gingerbread on phone..

hi. im having a problem here.
i try to flash my phone to cyanogenmod. i try to follow all instructions. i stuck at recovering mode using clockworkmod recovery. it seems CWM doesn't working, instead, the built in recovery was executed. hope you will help me about this problem mga kapwa noypi here.

Cyanogenmod is hard to use... i would suggest u using darkys 9.5... i suggest you go this website...www.darkyrom.com the best build is ressurection rom from there you can also flash version 9.5.. the most stable... easy flash... and vety good speed... you can also try gingerbread... did you flash a kernel?? Or do you see 3e recovery?? Include error message as well..

are you currently stuck on boot loop ?
try flashing stock JVB with bootloaders. follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901

nope, I'm not stucked up. I just want a modified roms for this galaxy. I want a good rom. I noticed that cyanogen is the best mod that i heard but im stucked on some procedures like clockworkmod recovery didn't work on me.
any tips for me since I am a newbie, thanks.

CM7 is not particularly newbie friendly. Darky's ROM is probably the most popular here. You can just change the themes by looking at the themes section afterwards.

+1... darky roms are great... @tj_cute: you know how to use odin right... i suggest using the ressurection edition froyo by darky... easy flash and stable... after that if you wants gingerbread u can also try there rc5 final ... or simply honey... easy install and great stability...

Guys... Simone201 just released his Simplyhoney rom based on gingerbread... It very fast and stable... I suggest flashing the wipe.options....

i'm not gonna need it this time actually cause i'm using cm7 6.4.2 by mik at the moment..

Ohh the only reason why I'm still sticking with 2.2 is because the 2.3 is not really stable yet so I'm kinda worried abt that. How's the beta 6.4.2 going?

it works great for me..it's stable at 748 clock but still when you really into saving your battery, i won't suggest this much cause it still drains faster than the froyo and bluetooth calls still doesn't work..well those were just my main concern with it as of the moment..though there's more to love other than the battery so it's all good for me..

Hi there I can't, for some reasion reboot into recovery with CW from rom manager! I have installed roms on three different phones, with no problems! But I have ruined 3 optimus v's trying to do the same Any advice?

Can I just say Thanks to everyone for creating these mods for the gt540 the phone needed a pick me up. Ive been trying a few..... more of the new mods rather than the 2.1 or 2.2 and there good. Im stuck on what to stay on and wondered if you could advise ?

Do not unplug the cable if you're on KDZ updater.
Fastboot and recovery is much safer as they don't tamper with important partitions if you're updating/flashing a ROM.

for best performance it will be swiftdroid(2.3). but for a overall rom i would say project utopia(2.2)

Or RC7 enigma once its released ha ha

mur4ik cant do anything about the battery. that is why our phone is never officially updated to 2.3 cus 2.3 is power hungry and so using alot of battery

I know, and that is why I ask about Froyo ROMs..

Well, if you just want a stock looking, fast ROM, then go for AOSP, but if you want more themes, and other mods then go for Utopia.

I'm staying on Utopia.. and I will make MIUI theme for it when I get my phone back..

i would love a miui theme for utopia

Market is not working on 2.2.1 utopia...unable to download apps from market....if i click download the apps are being shown as downloading but are not completed downloading what to do

Works fine for me, try flashing gapps. Download this, put it on the SDCard and flash it using Clockwork Recovery.

Utopia anytime, miroslav_mm is working really hard on it. It's a lot more 'complete' than AOSP

Utopia was my favorite until the RC3 version came out. I had a lot of trouble trying to make Link2SD work (I experimented with different versions of Busybox and finally I got it to recognize the second partition) but today I had another problem with WiFi, which suddenly stopped seeing my WPA2 home network. I had to go back to my previous version, where everything works...

I'm really intrigued about Utopia. I've read that it's fast yet it doesn't eat up battery like other roms. I'm just wondering how do I upgrade to that. I currently have stock eclair and somewhat of a noob when it comes to rom upgrading. Thanks

You could flash a Fastboot ROM vis KDZ. It could be one of the many ways.
