How can i enable the vibration even when i am in a call.
what i mean is that vibration by default gets disabled for the time being the phone is in call mode. so it wont vibrate even if some alarm or sms arrives.
I want it because i have developed an application that will make phone vibrate when call gets connected and will turn the sceen off. hence saving the battery and annoying screen clicks with my ears as i will get notified by vibration when the call gets connected.
Thanks for Reading.
I am having HTC touch ELF.
Is there a way to have the HD use no vibration für new messages/mails if ringtone is "on", but do vibrate if phone is set to vibration mode?
If you set the phone to vibrate for new items it does not only in vibration mode but always. And if you set it not to vibrate it won't vibrate in vibration mode...
:-(
Tim
I just tested a few settings on mine.
Go to Start - Settings - Sounds/Messaging
On the bottom open the Messaging tab.
From the drop-down menu, select new arriving sms.
(mine is in German, so I'm just guess what it says in English)
You can place check marks on sound and/or vibrate (and blinking LED light too).
I played with my settings and this is what I found.
sound ON, vibrate OFF, ringer vibrate = 3 short vibrations when sms arrives
sound ON, vibrate OFF, ringer ON = sound when sms arrives
sound ON, vibrate ON, ringer vibrate = 3 short vibrations
sound ON, vibrate ON, ringer ON = sound and 1 long vibration
sound OFF, vibrate ON, ringer vibrate = 3 short vibrations
sound OFF, vibrate ON, ringer ON = 3 short vibrations
sound OFF, vibrate OFF, ringer ON = silent and no vibration
sound OFF, vibrate OFF, ringer OFF = silent and no vibration
To summarize a bit:
If ringer is set to vibrate, then no matter what the sms settings are (as long as one of them is checked) = 3 short vibrations
If ringer is turned on, then whatever is checked in the sms settings will be carried out. If both are checked, then the vibration accompanying the sound is a long one.
If the message settings are all unchecked, then it does not matter what the ringer is set to because the phone won't do anything when the message arrives.
I hope that helps.
Oh, I forgot....
I think the first two options do what you want. In other words, if sound is ON and vibrate is OFF, then the setting for the ringer is what decides what happens when a message arrives.
EDIT: I tested it for the sms settings. If you also want this for other messages (like MMS, email) you have to do the same for those in the drop-down menu.
werd ich gleich mal testen, danke
testing now, thank you
hmmm I'm quite sure the phones behaviour was an outher yesterday...hmmm but it works. Thank you very much
Gerne! Das Ganze war mir auch nicht so klar, bis ich es alles selber getestet habe.
(Glad it solved it for you. I learned a couple of things too while testing it).
Good idea - but can you please check the following?
sound ON, vibrate OFF, ringer vibrate: my Touch HD only vibrates when the display is on. In other words, when in standby mode (display dark), no vibration. And this is no real option since you don't get notified when you get a new sms.
Does this happen to you as well?
Thank you for testing; it's a real bad behaviour that it vibrates for several seconds when the ringer is on.
nope...maybe you have some apps installed permitting the phone to vibrate?

I also checked, and for that configuration, my HD still vibrates 3 short times - even in standby mode. The screen even turns on while it vibrates and then goes back into standby. I don't know why it doesn't work for you.
What do mean "it's a real bad behaviour that it vibrates for several seconds when the ringer is on"? I think from the different settings I posted earlier, you have a lot to choose from.
I hate vibration on phones. Period. Hate it. I must be doing something wrong because when I silence my phone, it always seems to vibrate when I get a phone call.
This is how I am setting my HD2 to silent:
Scroll over to setting Tab in manila>Sound & Display>Check Silent.
Sometimes I like to play music (with HD2 in pocket) while I am doing my work but don't want to be interrupted with a vibration from phone call, so I use the hardware button to lower volume to zero (Not pressing the silent button) while keeping system's volume up so I can hear the music.
No matter what, I my HD2 still vibrates when I get a phone call.
Help me get rid of the Vibrations!!
Actually I was just hunting for a solution to this.
I don't understand what the point of having separate options for "silent" and "vibrate" are when silent also vibrates?
I have no issue with vibration for other reasons - I just want silent to be just that; when I want it to vibrate I would select vibrate....
When you check 'silent', scroll down to 'notification sounds' and in there you'll probably see the slider is set to vibrate. turn it off there and see if that works

When I do this, or press a volume key and tap "Silent" at the bottom of the volume screen, my phone stays correctly silent with no vibration.
My usual ring settings are even on "vibrate and ring".
For some reason I cant stop my notifications from vibrating when my phone is in vibrate mode. Its been a while but Im pretty sure in the past on my S7 I was able to have my notifications muted if my phone was in vibrate mode (except for texts and calls). I only want my phone to vibrate when I receive a call or a text if I am in vibrate mode. Otherwise I want all other notification sounds and vibration silent/muted/no vibrate when I have the phone in vibrate mode. This may have changed with a recent OTA update, currently on PE1. Am I missing something?
1) In settings/Sound and Vibration, Vibrate while ringing is checked and actually grayed out, I cannot unselect it. Which is fine because I want it to vibrate when ringing unless I mute the phone.
2) In Email notifications, notifications are on, but Vibrate is turned off and actually grayed out, I cannot turn it on. I have 3 email accounts setup through the built in Email app and all 3 are set to the same thing. Yet, it still vibrates when I get a notification.
I thought I had this figured out but apparently not. I ONLY want phone and texts to vibrate my phone when in vibrate mode. I want all other notifications muted. I have email vibration turned OFF but it still vibrates, along with most other notifications. Since I have 3 email accounts set up on my phone, this is quite annoying. What am I missing? Does vibrate mode make everything vibrate even if I have vibrate turned off on nearly all apps?
Try using do not disturb instead. You can customize it to allow phone and text messaging to go thru, and mutes everything else
Vibrate mode means vibrate. Why would you expect it not to vibrate when you use a setting called "Vibrate"?
Is it possible to kill all the vibration when the slider is in ring mode?
Its kinda annoying since there is a vibrate option on the slider already
You can turn off vibration in sound settings
