[Q] Default ROM for HD2 - HD2 General

Hi, I have been using Android basically since day one when I got this phone. I have been experiencing random restarts lately and think it could be a hardware issue. I already tried different Android ROMS and also tried using it from a clean state (no extra apps installed)...so it comes down to possible hardware/motherboard issue. I want to send it back to HTC for a replacement.
I ran HSPL3 and it's back to 2.10.0000 SPL now. I found an update for the T-Mobile US (1024) stock rom (3.14.531). I restored it back and everything looks ok now. The only thing I'm worried about is the radio version. I remember putting 2.15.50.14 on it and still see it. From what I see here, the radio should be 2.14.50.04 for this latest update.
My main question (just FYI for my knowledge) is shouldn't restoring the T-Mobile software restore the radio version also? It looks like I'll just have to flash the radio back myself.
The original specs I had were:
R 2.10.50.26
G 15.39.50.07U
D 2.13.90693 8G
I guess I don't need to worry about the 2nd and 3rd one right? Forgot exactly what they meant (read it somewhere) but the radio is what worries me.
Thanks.

No the radio will not change by replacing the rom, you need to choose the radio of your choice and flash it to the phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787

So should I flash the original radio back (2.10.50.26)? I read in one of the posts here that for the 3.14.531 ROM, it should have the 2.14.50.04 radio.
Haven't ran into any random restarts yet after I restored it back to the Windows Mobile ROM. Might have to go back to square one if it doesn't happen in Windows but only in Android.
Thanks.

You should flash Radio 2.15.50.14 and HSPL2.08 for your phone,in order to run android.Since, you have flashed your stock ROM,i think its best you start fresh from the beginning.Start with HSPL,then radio. Have you tried both SD and NAND builds? and did you use MAGLDR?. If you still experience boot cycles, you might want to try TASK 29. If you are launching Android from WM, you should want to flash a custom WM ROM that works well with Android.

Yes it sounds like you may have a hardware issue seeing as you have tried different Android NAND ROMs.
If you still see the 2.15.50.14 radio then it is still installed on your HD2. The question though is did the radio version with the stock ROM get upgraded to the 2.15.50.14 version from the 2.14.50.04 version.
To answer your question yes the radio version does get flashed when you flash a official stock ROM via RUU. The radio version that the ROM contains is the version that gets flased.
Thanks for providing the original specs on your HD2 as this lets people know what your original stock ROM was and the original radio and base band versions wee too. The R is the radio version, the G is your Base Band version, and the D is the ROM version.

Not true, if you flash a official stock Windows Mobile ROM via RUU (USB) it will change the radio version to the radio version included in the ROM. This is why TMOUS HD2s get bricked when you flash them with a international ROM. The radio versions in the international ROMs are not compatible with the TMOUS HD2.

I would flash the radio version that is known to be the radio version included with the stock ROM. HTC will be looking for two things basically. One if the radio, base band, and ROM versions all match up, and two if you have SPL on the device and not HSPL. If either of these do not pass HTC will deny your claim.

I agree with member kawshigan, you should check and see if HSPL was removed and replaced with SPL by the stock ROM flash, check the bootloader screen to see if you still have it. If you did it via RUU than it did not. But if you flashed it via SD card then it did remove HSPL. Either way you have to have HSPL flashed to you HD2 to flash MAGLDR or cLK, you also have to have it to run a TASK 29. Once you are sure you have HSPL on your HD2 you I suggest youi run a Task 29, next flash the 2.15.50.14 radio, then flash MAGLDR or cLK (wich ever one you want to use), then flash Clockwork Mod Recovery, and then use Clockwork Mod Recovery to flash your ROM via .zip file on your SD card.

Radio OR ROM ?

I have radio version 2.05.51.05_2 and I would like to use this rom -
ROM: ★ Energy Series 23557|Apr 12| , which radio version should I use ?
I found Leo_RADIO_15.33.50.07U_2.07.50.27 **(from TMOUS 2.07) which looks ok, but will this be ok for a 512mb HTC hd2? Or is it for the T mobile version only?
Also, do I update the radio first? with my current stock ROM? Or do I update the ROM first and then update Radio?
Thanks in Advance
Will this be your first flash?
If so, check this before do anything else: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
If not, and if you already have HSPL installed on your device, you should first flash the RADIO ROM and then the ROM. (check previous link for that too)
I personally like the one's on my sig, but you must try several rom's and radios' and see wich one you like more.
Hope i could help.
i think next time you may not make a new thread. you can ask what you are confused on Energy ROM thread...

Thanks for that. This is my first flash, but I have already run hspl2 and my phone is set to 1.42 hspl.
I just want to make sure I have all the correct info before I flash.
So you can confirm that this radio will work with my device?
Hi
I use Energy rom now
I use radio 2.08.50.08_2
And everything is OK
But somebody said that radio 2.07 will give a better battery life, you could try this I use radio 2.08 because I like the newer radio
You should upgrade radio first, then Rom
My device is "normal" HD2
Im sure you have either a: allready flashed your phone successfully
or b: bricked it and are now crying under your bed sheets as you've managed to make the worlds most expesive door stop.
either way, do energy roms will not work with a .51 radio. it has to be a .50.
I use 2.08.50.08 and works a charm, its reported that 2.07 radio's are better for battery life.

As djchubbs said, you should use only .50 RADIO's on Energy ROM, so the one you said it's ok
Happy flashing

I'm not sure that HSPL3 works with 3.14, so when I wanted to flash AthineOS v14. I went back to T-Mobile's site and grabbed the official ROM there. I was able to "downgrade" with no issues.
We always recommend a Task 29 when flashing a ROM, whether it's "official" or "cooked". Think of it as reformatting your hard drive before installing a new operating system. Spare bits can be left over after a new ROM is installed over an older one. These will manifest in strange fashions, causing issues that can't be duplicated by a twin phone running the same system.
So yes, you can downgrade if you want, without HSPL or Task 29. Whether you want to or not is up to you.
Yes you can indeed go straight back to 2.13 from 3.14. The leaked 3.14 does not overwrite HardSPL, so you can just straight up flash back to the official 2.13 update like normal.

Just for clarification: Any stock (official or leaked) ROM will overwrite your HSPL if you flash it via microSD. It will not do so if you flash via USB.
I would like to apologize for my first reply to this thread for implying that the HSPL would be overwritten for ANY type of flash and thanks to ashasaur for pointing out my mistake.
I have TMOUS HD2 - stock 2.13 ROM and have not hard-SPLed it yet. So everything is stock.
If I install the 3.14 ROM, would I still be hardSPL it in future if required?

....good question. I've never flashed flashed a rom via SDcard. You should try flashing from 3.14 to 3.13 and see if it removes hardspl. The worse that could happen is it go back to stock spl and just remove it via the hspl3 package.

If you flash from 3.13 to 3.14 or from 3.14 to 3.13 the hardspl will still be kept if flashed is done with a USB cord. I'm not sure if hspl will still be installed if done via sdcard, because I've done any flashing via SDcard. I play it safe and do everything from the USB cord and have had ZERO problem.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
im using the 3.14 right now and the battery life is outstanding. 24 hours an d no issues yet, full 3G in fort worth all day.
Also everytime i have done any flashing, it was done through RUU and not one single issue yet. "crosses fingers"

[Q] Android on STOCK ROM

I was wondering if it was possible to install Android on the stock ROM 3.14 WWE (radio 2.15.50.14). I would like to install android without having to use HSPL because I'd like to keep the phone under warranty
Nahh
Tried doing that. My WM locked up totally. It would start, but NO 3'rd party progs worked. I could not uninstall, nor install.
The only thing that worked was to reset WM.
So i ran the HSPL part, upgraded WM to Dutty, upgraded the Radio, and Android ran smoothly.
I'm not sure if all WM's will lock up, but i only speak for my self.
Btw, my was stock Norwegian.
Good luck
It does work on the latest ROM (3.14). Plenty of people have had it working, me being one of them. It's definitely a good solution for those who don't want to have to upgrade HSPL in order to get a newer radio.
I've been always using Stock roms, and Android has always worked perfectly here.
Currently using 3.14 German Stock Rom + MDJ 1.7 Android room. working flawlessly.
stock orange rom
I am using a stock orange rom. I did HSPL3 and updated the radio to 2.14.50.04.
I went for the FroyoStone_Sense_V3.2 build, and have had no stability issues. I use this as my main phone and never revert back to winmo.
Like most I do suffer from data drops, but get around it by toggling airplane mode.
Hi, two seperate things here, you can run it on a stock rom see my sig, but you must install HSPL3.
Mines working just fine...
Didn't alter the WinMo ROM, radio, or even SPL. Just cut & pasta the Android ROM files to SD Card, and magic!

No, you don't need to install hspl. A radio version >2.08 is enough. Recent stock ROM has 2.15
having HSPL is safer .. I am running the Tmobile stock with hspl ,running Mdeejay Evo and works like a charm .
I don't see how having HSPL could possibly be any safer for running Android from your sd card, as Android doesn't use or touch your SPL at all. You are perfectly safe to run Android on a stock rom, as long as you have a X.XX.50.XX radio everything will be as if you were to run it on a cooked rom

Andriod on Stock Rom

Hi just a quick question.
Is there any way i can run Andriod on my stock T-mobile UK
Rom - 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE
Radio - 2.07.51.22_2
I tried to update to 3.14 but not able to as HTC site does not allow me to as it does not support my phone yet
I dont want to put a custom rom on.
Thank you in advance
Think that radio is too old to run android properly. If you are worried about warrenty, all you have to do is extract the .nbh file from the stock rom and rename it to leoimg.nbh, put that on to your SD card and reboot into the boot loader. This will wipe all custom HSPL rom and radio and put the stock rom back on to your phone.
I have tried tried it and confirm that it works. It will also re-instate your warrenty as well Go ahead and flash a custom rom you will be surprised at just how much better it is than the stock 1.72 rom you mentioned it is sooooo out of date
BTY suggest you look at duttys rom and also download radio 2.15 as well. Better reception and battery life
I'm running on stock Tmobile 1.72 all you need to do is upgrade your radio to above 2.08 but ending in .50
See upgrading your radio in this guide

[Q] Telstra HTC HD2 Running Android

Hello, Sorry if this message is posted in the wrong area, but this is my first post, i am a noob PLEASE HELP!
I have an unlocked Telstra branded HTC HD2 T9193 running the stock wm6.5
ROM and the stock RADIO.
OS Version 5.2.2169 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version 2.5.20121431.1
ROM Version 1.72.841.0 (82124) WWE
Radio Version 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol Version 15.32.50.07U
I want to run the NexusHD2 android build from my SD card but i have tried and it just sits at the linux boot code screen forever. I have looked on XDA developers and have found that i have to install HSPL3 and then flash the 2.15.50.14 RADIO ROM. Is this true? is there any other way to boot android without re flashing? I love my HD2 and am scared i will brick it? How can i ensure that i do not brick it (if i have to re flash a RADIO).

only tmous needs to be careful, , the radio brick you heard about doesn't affect you. (Well, there's always a slim chance with any flashing, but the infamous 'i flashed this radio/stock rom and now it wont turn on' brick doesnt affect your phone.)

So with TMOS devices you cannot flash a xx.xx.51.xx RADIO and have to flash a xx.xx.50.xx RADIO, but with a European or Australian device you can flash a xx.xx.50.xx RADIO, such as 2.15.50.14?
Yep, tmous 2.06.50 or higher,, must be x.xx.50
Regular+telstra - any radio, ..50.. or ..51.., will flash, however for compatibility with various things, (unlocking ram, using nand android, magldr) use high numbered ..50.. radios, 2.11.50 up to 2.15.50
