Samsung Galaxy S2 Audio Problem. - Galaxy S II General

Hi all, I'm not sure what my phone's issue is yet and I was hoping someone will be able to verify or provide me an answer. See below.
I feel this maybe a hardware problem more than a custom ROM problem.
I currently use the Lite'ning Rom 6.1. Has anyone noticed a "tinny" sound drop in while listening to music files. It doesn't matter which app I use to listen. The sound goes tinny for a few seconds then back to normal. Best way to describe the effect is changing to another "E.Q" setting and back again. I have checked the earphone jack to ensure that it is all the way in, it is fine.
If this already been answered in another thread please provide the link and except my apologies.
Any help is appreciated thanks.

I am currently using Lite'ning Rom 6.1 and have not noticed any sound issues.
Ill use my sound a lot tomorrow and listen out for it.

Get a q tip and try cleaning your headphone jack. Just stuff it in their gently and let it spin slowly. Do it a couple times. Might be something in there jacking your connection.
Iphone > galaxy s 2.

Help! No sound from speakers

Hi guys,
I have Tmobile HD2 and it's on stock radio 2.08. I flash nrg rom 04/23 6.5.x and everything was working fine. Today I just changed the rom to 4/23 6.5 and now my speaker don't make any sounds. Everything play fine through headphone but not from speaker. I play music, movies, ringtones nothing works. No sounds. I just did task29 and flashed to 2 other different roms and still no sounds. What happened to my phone? Is the speaker gone for good? I only had this phone for a week. Any helps is appreciated.
I've had a similar issue in past phones, where after removing audio jack the phone still thinks it is plugged in and even a hardreset didnt fix it. Try to remove and insert the audio jack rapidly in succession, its worth a try. Good luck.
Regards
Flashmore
Thanks for prompt reply. I tried multiple time with no success.

I don't think it's rom related. I try nrg, miri, stock and cell. none works.
I had the same issue. I think thats happen after i use earfone.
Do you solve this problem?
thx
I had the same issue. The easiest way to tell if it is the same issue is to look to see if you have the headset icon in the bar when you dont have any connected. I solved this by (not suggesting you do it unless you are sure) there is a pressure prong on the top of the 3.5 jack. I used a tool to bend it down a little. If you still can I would swap it out for a new one.
i have the same issuse, and i've tried 2 rom until now.
in a call, if i press speaker, i can hear everything.
if i'm using mediaplayer, tcmp, youtube client, i get no sound.
even if i try to change the ringtone, i cannot hear when it plays for demo.
but if i plug in my headphones, everything works prefect, i can hear.
i have no headphones icon in the upper part of the display (so that the phone thinks i didn't get the jack out).
any ideea would be really appreciated.
Hi all,
i bought unbranded/unlocked HD2 on 5-6-2010 and played alots with it - so i didn't really noticed a serious speaker problem.
Within the first week i wondered about the fact that i sometimes couldn't hear the callers voice. I had this effect even when i called somebody. I thought about a software error - so i flashed to the latest german stock ROM.
But it didn't fixed the problem. I was only able to hear somebody, when i used the internal speaker or the headset.
One day i got a call and i "accidentally" pressed the phone speaker a bit harder than usual to my ear and the voice came and left - (ear)speaker defect.
I informed the dealer about this defect and i got a new HD2.
He told me, it would be the ninth HD2 with this particular defect since January 2010.
Please check your speaker for a defective contact - maybe it hits you too.
Good luck,
Stephan
mine was a software problem.
i have elegancia 8.5 now and it works, i can hear youtube, fm radio on the speaker.
the other thing that bothers me is that the sound i hear in a call is too low.
i don't know if it's a radio problem.
ah, btw, i can't use the volume hardware buttons, they are broke from a down fall, and i can't seem to find how to change in a call volume from windows.
I also hat that prob. The funny solution: Audio was set to silent in windows media player. After turning up the volume the problem was gone. I had this problem only one times. Strange thing...

??? help pls ???
My speaker stopped working last night. Had been working fine for the last few weeks.
Haven't installed anything or done anything different in the last few days.
Have only recently got my phone set up as I want it, so I'm loathe to do a factory reset. Read on another forum that HTC are aware of this and that 65% of HD2 owners suffer with is - not sure how true this is though.
If it's a hardware issue, is it easy to replace the speaker? If so, is it easy to order one?
Thanks
SC
I have the same problem! I have try like for ROM already and no solution i even uninstall HSPL to see if anything happened but not luck so far. can any expert or someone who have already solved this problem post a solution or something PLEASE i getting worried or i mean i am already!!
THANKS!
fixed It!! speaker Problem!HD2
well is was pretty simple! all i did was i put speaker volume on muted and with the earphone start to plug in and and out the jack several times while i was playing a video on windows media after that i unplug it and set the speaker volume up and hit play!!! speaker on!!!!
Just had the no sound from speaker problem, I always use my bluetooth motorokr s9-hd headset but i didnt feel like charging it so i used my sony earbuds with the 3.5 jack for the first time and it caused the no sound from speaker issue......I plugged the earbuds back in, played with the volume buttons on the phone and the speaker is back on

After market BT Headunit, over sensitive microphone?

Not sure if any one else has had this issue, but previously I had a Palm Pre that I would connect to my Eclipse cd5030. People always said it was hard to hear me, so i found a better mic. Swapped it out and all was well.
Move now to my EVO. Everyone I talk to says it sounds like the mic is way to sensitive. I also know people have complained about crappy audio when recording video and think the 2 problems maybe related. I tried swapping the mic back to the OEM one and people said they could barely hear me again.
Does anyone have any pointers or know of any settings i can try to change etc? Another example of how it sounds is when i use fring with my wife (on her evo as well) and there is alot of noise in the background but there is nothing going on.
Any help, pointers, or comments would be appreciated
Thanks
p.s. Wife and I also have S9HDs but we have not tried them yet. I will try those soon and get back to this thread

[A2017G] Bottom speaker louder than top speaker

STILL NOT FIXED
I have rooted and unlocked my Axon 7 (A2017G) and edited the mixer_paths.xml file to make the audio output louder.
But there's a little problem (and I don't know if it's because of the mixer paths edit, I don't think so)
My top speaker sounds a lot more dull than my bottom speaker. My bottom speakers seem to be louder too.
How to check this? And are there more people experiencing this?
Thanks in advance.
Did not do anything to my A2017G, but I find that my top speaker is louder and "sparks" when near at full volume

Some say it's dust, but I don't know how. I haven't called with this phone much.
Bump. It's everywhere. Even on LineageOS, bottom speaker is almost twice as loud :/ It can't be dust.
BUMP
This problem is getting on my nerves. The bottom speaker is twice as loud and crispy as the top speaker, which sounds dull.
Anyone else had this and possibly fixed it?
Two questions
Did you try to reset your phone and test the speakers again?
Is there the same problem on YouTube and mp3 music files?

1. Yes I switched between roms to test modems and other stuff for ZTE.
2. Ofcourse. It's obviously the same on every output.
I guess it's just a hardware fault, but I thought maybe someone would have fix (clean it or something?)
Then I would say that this is an hardware problem indeed.
Having the same issue here, thought that other ROM will provide the fix but still zilch. Rooting the phone only meant the void of guarantee so not really good move there either.
I read somewhere online that usually bottom speaker is the one to go out first and that global version has the speakers a lot different then American and Chinese version). Any other possible fixes before replacing it? And where to find the replacement too?
Update: it should be software related since the sound in earphones has the same problem - only inverted. Which means there should be a tweak in binary or something?
I'm willing to pay to whoever makes this problem disappear. I'm beyond the point of helplessness here...
Fixed!
Fixed the issue finally! ??
Go to:
- settings
- advanced settings
- accessibility
- mono speaker output.
For the last trick to work, just try to disable it, then enable it and restart the device. Disable it again when device rebooted. Worked as a charm for me! So I'll be saving me some money ???

Omg! This problem was bugging me since day 1, but could not find any solution to this... But I've tried what you said and it works wonders! Can't believe I can now finally listen to music the way it was intented, since having a speaker with lower volume on a stereo setup is very annoying. Thank you very much for sharing the solution with us!

[A5 2016] Phone microphone stops working completely when I plug in my headphones

Hey everyone! As the title says I'm having a problem with plugging in my headset and the microphone.
To be more specific, any time I plug in my headphones (Samsung original that I've gotten with the phone), the phone stops hearing my voice both from the headset and from the normal one. If I unplug the headset the microphone still won't work and in order to fix it I have to perform a reboot
I'm running Android 7.0 stock and not rooted. I do have Tasker installed but I did try a factory reset to check if any app was causing the issue and it still had the same problem
Did anyone encounter the same problem? Any idea? Thanks in advance
When you remove the headphones does the sound switch automatically to the phone speaker?
If it happens on stock ROM after a full reset there's probably a problem with the headphone plug in your phone. Try to clean it gently but it will probably need to be replaced.
Does the microphone on your headphones work on other smartphones?
Hey thanks for the answer!
I must admit I kinda forgot about this post but I did find out the problem.
I'll type it in case somebody else searches for the same issue in the future.
It was just the headphones. I tried my sisters' and they worked without a problem So I just went ahead and bought a new pair
Thanks for trying to help though much appreciated
Thanks for your post.
It's always nice to know what was wrong and this may help someone in the future.

Mic not working during calls (maybe broken mic) How can I switch mic via mixer_paths?

Hi there everybody. First time posting anything in any forums. Please excuse any irregularities that I may show (deviating from the norms and such).
ISSUE BACKGROUND
So I recently bought a LeEco Le Pro 3 (LEX727) second hand and I've run into an issue with the microphone during calling. I can hear the person calling fine, but the caller cannot hear me. I have checked that it is not a sim issue as I've tested call with two different sims (one local and one international sim). Currently it is running on LineageOS version 15.1-20180312-NIGHTLY-zl1. It is currently rooted via Magisk.
In system/etc/usf/form_factor_mtp.cfg I found out that there are two mics:
- top right mic
- bottom 90 degree mic.
I confirmed the top right mic is working as Google Now and recording apps picks up my voice. Using the MicTester app, I also confirmed it is indeed the top mic is functioning fine as the sound wave increases in amplitude as I input sound closer and closer to the top mic (as opposed to the bottom one).
I feel it is not a software issue as I have flashed various roms to the device, resulting with the same issue. Roms I have flashed includes:
- AICP (Oreo)
- Stock EUI
- Resurrection (Oreo)
- LineageOS (Oreo)
- Lineage OS (Nougat)*
*note: the phone came with LineageOS in Nougat. Same mic issue
Flashes were attempted with factory reset only and with complete wipe of internal storage (this was the latest attempt)
Also attempted to use MicFix module for Magisk. Still no mic
Also tried muting/unmuting during calls. Still no mic.
Also tried toggling loudspeaker on and off. Still no mic.
Hence, I feel that it is a hardware issue. To strengthen that opinion, there is a one solitary dent on the phone, near where the mic would be. Could be a completely busted mic or disconnected mic.
Also calls works fine via a connected wired earphone with inline mic.
CURRENT PURSUED SOLUTION
To remedy this issue, I wanted to reroute the mic paths for calls. Instead of using the bottom mic, I want to use the top mic instead. So could I get some assist in editing the mixer_paths.xml file of this phone to achieve that?
I found there are a few file with the name mixer_paths
system/etc/usf/mixer/mixer_paths_mtp.xml
System/vendor/etc/mixer_paths_tasha.xml
System/vendor/etc/sound_trigger_mixer_paths.xml
System/vendor/etc/sound_trigger_mixer_paths_wcd9330.xml
There is also this file:
System/vendor/etc/audio_tuning_mixer_tasha.txt
Can anyone help me figure this out with me?
Also, if there is a better way to solve this or that maybe the direction of editing mixer_paths is not quite right please do tell.
Note: I am not adept at codes. I have done a semester of matlab and c++ and that's it. Not really code savvy.
Any assist is very appreciated. Have been troubleshooting this issue for a few days now. Can't seem to be able to solve this
Hmm... I don't know if you'll get the help you need here. You should also try posting to reddit.com/r/AndroidDev, or maybe the general XDA Q&A forum?
What you might find easier to do is just replace the mic entirely. The mic is located at the bottom of the phone, on the charging port module itself. Replacements are available on AliExpress, but they might be missing some features(?). A few other users have the same problem as you. I encourage you to read through this sub-forum.

I'll try with ur suggestion to post this elsewhere. I'd rather not replace the microphone just yet because I'd like to try a non-open-my-phone-apart solution. Not the most dexterous of hands.
use a headphone/bluetooth mic till u fix it
I have a different device but the same issue. Main mic is not good, gives nothing but hisses.
Tried using RuleBot(info.kfsoft.autotask) from play store to automatically enable loudspeaker (which forces microphone to switch) when there's a call. I will update later if it works.
