I connect the headset jack to the aux port of my car. Half the time the music continues to come out of the phone speakers. Any solutions to this problem?
Am 99% certain the headphone jack on the DX (3.5mm) should default to playing to whatever source is plugged in. What ROM are you running and have you ever messed with your sound options?
Original rom just rooted.no I never messed with it.
Are you sure you are fully pushing it in?
Yes ,sometimes works fine sometimes one speaker sometimes doesn't play at all!
I think that the problem is not the phone - make sure the other side of things is working (test with another device).
I would say its prolly your auxiliary cable that you are using or its the headphone jack of your x... I've had my headphone jack go bad on so many discmans to my ipod and just last week my aux cable in my car started to go bad by only playing out of one side of the speakers

How much you paid for it, cause i believe th cheapest for these is about 15£, as mentioned in another thread.
I read the charger is needed to keep the battery full, as current tv usb ports are un-powered, but new powered usb tv`s are on the way that do.
I have a crazy idea .. Does anybody know if i plug hdmi out from my phone to my onkyo amp the sound on video playback will be 5.1? Or even play music will this work on the subwoofer unlike using 3.5mm jack. Thanks

I did some testing with my newly acquired Samsung MHL adapter.
Here are some things i noticed:
Power:
You indeed need to have it plugged in, but you can use a normal computer USB cable to power it. Mind you, that the phone seems to use extra power when running with the adapter, getting more hot. Having it plugged into my PC, i noticed the power drain was high enough that the battery would actually (very) slowly discharge, if i was actively using the phone.
Resolution:
When sitting at the home screen, or any other screen excluding video playback, the picture will be a mirror of the phone. Output is 1080i but the picture is just the 800x480 picture upscaled. This means that you can't really use it to browse webpages in full resolution, and so forth. When doing movie playback, the movie will display in full resolution over hdmi.
Overhead controls will not show on the hdmi output. I've seen this mode active in the standard movie player, and in the youtube player so far. I can test any other apps if i requested. I'm guessing that when the hardware video decoder kicks in, it outputs directly to hdmi.
Unfortunately this also means that when using the gallery to display pictures/video on your TV, video recording will actually display in higher resolution then your pictures! Pictures are just displayed in standard upscaled 800x480, while video displays in full 1920x1080.
Sound:
When in mirror/upscale mode, sound is also "mirrored" to the TV, meaning you can use the phone as a music player or whatever to your stereo. I don't know if it does 5.1 when in video mode, as i only have 2.1 speakers, but i assume that it would.
I noticed one exception to this, which is the FM radio, which sadly only outputs to either headphones, or phone speaker. No option to play it over hdmi.
Let me know if there are any specific things you'd like me to test in regards to this.
Has anyone noticed a problem with using headphones? I have tried 4 different pairs and only managed to get 1 pair working properly. The problem is that when you plug the headphones in the small headphones icon appears in the lower right hand side but when you play the music it comes through both the headphones and also the speaker. It seems to be the headphones are not seating properly.
same problem!!
yess i have the same problemm!!!
i realised that to fix this problem, you have to plug in the headphones while firstly playing any songs through the tablet speakers, then it detects there's headphone plugged in.
This is issue is really pissing me off!! i hope they fix it asap!
yes i had that problem and felt like an idiot when i finally realised that i was sharing my music with everyone on the bus!
very weird problem which has stopped me from listening to music on my a500 even though the audio quality is superior to my Sony Ericsson X10 and my HTC Sensation.
Thanks for the tip - I'll try it out tonight!

this trick works for me too, but only while the audio is playing through the specific app. if i stop music while doing this trick and change to video it out puts the video out of both speakers and headphones again.
It really has nothing to do with the jack seating, it has to do with the audio mixer and the jack detection.
it should be fixed eventually (hoping with ICS) but for now I have to take my headphones off and check the output like a weirdo anytime I want to switch apps using headphones.
Hi, I have also this problem but I noticed another strange thing : when you listen to a track using headphones the stereo image looks moved slightly to the right, it's not well centered. Is it only a problem of my A500 or is it general ?
Thanks
Ramp
Are you guys using non-stock ROM or something? I am on stock 3.1 and I am not having any kinds of issues with it, headphones work just fine and the stereo image is as centered as it should. Or maybe it's your headphones, have you tried with other devices?
I'm on Taboonay 2.1 and i can't remember noticing it when i was using stock rom. I only noticed it because i felt the slight vibration coming from the speakers. I have got 1 Set of headphones that work really well with it and it only happens with my other headphones which weren't exactly cheap (typical) but they all work on everything else i plug them into, so i think it's more to do with the seating of the headphones rather than the rom because i've got a pair that work fine, although i now have some doubt so i'm going to try them all out again to make sure
Same problem here, with Taboney 2.1 and different head phones.
Hi, just upgraded to 3.2 original and now everything comes out in mono. No stereo from headphones. Anyone having the same prob? Wow, things are getting even worse....

I had this same problem too on stock HC 3.1
The trick works for me; but is rather annoying trying to drive and play music at the same time
I have recently changed to Lightspeed ROM with Thor 3.7 (the rest) kernel and have not experienced any sound issue yet =]
I have some problems with the last Tabooney 3.2 ROM and headphones too.
Sound goes through headphone and tab speakers.
I noticed that if I unplug and plug headphones twice or three times I could only have sound into headphones and works well.
I never used OTA ROM so, can't say if it works well with it, but there is a prob with Taboonay's ROM.
I can't post in DEV thread (regard to my posts count).
I am currently running Revolver 4 Mod with guevor's test 15 kernel, I know this is a Slider but everything so far that I've ran into has been compatible with TF101.
I am able to get the HDMI cable to connect to my Scepter TV but when I do the sound is distorted like I should turn the source down but I can't find any option to do so, when I turn down the volume on the tablet it does nothing. The only solution I have found so far is to run a separate cable for the audio from my headphone jack, this is less than ideal so I'm wondering if anyone knows of an option or a program to do this.
The tablet runs full volume through HDMI so you need to change the volume on hte TV not the tablet. This is so that you do not have 2 (or 3 if you have an audio box) different volume levels that you have to control
The problem I have is that I can't control the TV only a receiver and it sounds really bad when I turn it down to a tolerable level... I can't understand any voices only muffle. I do have a DVD player that connects via hdmi and it sounds perfect, I also tried flipping the hdmi ports but this didn't help either.

I just double checked on a different TV and sure enough it is so loud you can't turn it down enough to be heard clearly. I do understand hdmi drives the volume at full but it's impossible to hear clearly since it's so loud. I really want to fix this, any ideas?

My headphone jack keeps going out!! And then i have to twist the head phone's jack to get it to work! Then it goes out again!!! Its not the headphones, because i tried my friends and it did the same thing! I also tried my headphones on his iPad and they work perfectly! Its something wrong with my n7 i think.
