Has anyone succeeded in getting a webcam working via USB host? It looks like it can be done with Nook Color.

For that you need the drivers from the webcam for android... and i never seen one.
I think on the nook there is a universal driver for the "normal&cheap" webcams, but these ones with hd and extra functions, wont work without the drivers of the manufactures
On Linux kernel maybe you'll find things like that (maybe ^^)

Normal&cheap is all I want. I want to be able to capture video from a cheap lensless webcam connected to a telescope without having to drag a laptop outside.

Than i prefer to you that you ask in the Nook section for the drivers
If you have than you could add them in kernel or maybe as a module
Have you seen this? hxxp://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/

This doesnt help us unfortunality
Well in short:
- find linux webcam driver
- use chulri's cross compile tutorial
- load .ko via insmod
(which is exactly what I am trying at the moment, but with a different hardware)

Hey, I really need some help with this if someone can provide any, or if there is any. Is there any possible way to get my ppc, HTC Vogue/Touch CDMA Alltel, to read files thats on a 1gig flash drive I have? Is there any software that would do it or any other way possible? Someone please help me out with this.
Sorry For Leaving this Out
Sorry I didn't mention this, but it has to be done without the help of a desktop or laptop. It really needs done between the phone and the flash drive. Thanks in advance for any help?
USB flash drive. Cant be done.....No usb host!

That doesn't answer the original question. I highly doubt there is a way for your phone to read data directly from a usb flash drive.
The only thing I can think of is if you get a Female Standard USB to Male MiniUSB converter, if that even exists. Good luck.
since MiniUSB works on the same protocol i doubt it CAN'T be done.. the whole reading part is just software.

does this support SDHC?
For the device to be able to use USB as a host, it must support USB OTG (on the go). This is hardware and as of yet, no HTC Device has the suitable hardware.
Like i said no usb host even if u somehow get it connected it still wont work.
Cardriver- i have similar one like in the picture and it does support SDHC cards
me thinks i screwed the pooch with my DX.
here is a pic when i turn on my phone. after trying to sbf the 2.3.34 sbf.
any ideas? thanks.

I had that issue, ended up having to find an older XP machine and running RSD on it. It seems to hate my Win7 Box

I swear I saw a thread about this but I couldn't find it. So I figured I'd share this with everyone. It so simple its stupid!!! Thanks Samsung for making a completely useless multimedia dock and forcing me to make one myself.

I had taken mine apart trying to help and effort on this thread:

....figured I would link these together for the other helpful info over there.
Do you or can anyone tell me if the HDMI and the usb are operable at the same time? I have an in-car custom set up I'm planning and I think I have it but I need to know if they'll work together. I only need the 30pin to usb cord for charging. The rest of it will run off the HDMI. I could post up a schematic of what I'm trying to do if anyone is interested in helping with the design of the project. Thanks!
I would also like to know if you can use hdmi and usb at the same time. for example you can use an xbox usb pad and hdmi to a tv on the xoom and charge at the same time, could this be done on the 10.1?
Is it mhl. if so it switches between depending on which is plugged in. so its either hdmi or usb not both. dumb i know. it can charge at the same time though.
Hello,
I've encountered this problem and I'm not sure what to think about it. I've a different Hardware ID for a Nook Color and it's actually mind boggling. I have found a way to install the USB Driver for this Nook Color with the help of someone on IRC who thought about the same idea the same thing i did.
But what i want to know is, why is my Nook Color showing up as a Nook Classic but the backpart of it doesn't make sense. Ideas?

It is not a problem with your Nook. That device id is because you are running CM9. For some strange reason it changes in CM9. You have to modify the usb installation inf file to get adb working.
That 'other nook color' and 'MTP' are really the adb composite drivers not installed properly because of the new device id. I bet you have usb debugging checked in settings, don't you? If you want MTP to really work you must uncheck that setting.

I've tried multiple builds of the Motorola drivers, they install but when I plug in my device is says that the drivers were not successfully installed. Does anyone now of a fix for this? I'm on a windows 7 laptop
Try using a USB 2 port and the cable that came with the phone.

Hmm, try going into device manager and uninstalling the drivers that are there and plug the phone back in and try to get it to auto install. If you use fastboot and recovery much, you also need to boot into each one of those and plug the phone into the computer so the appropriate driver will install for each of those.
Actually, one of the USB ports seemed to have installed the drivers successfully.

That probably won't install until you put it into tethering mode. However, it shouldn't affect anything as far as using fastboot or having your computer detect the phone.
