Backlight Replacement - Droid 2 General

My buds Droid 2 back light doesn't work anymore as well as the touch screen digitizer. Is the back light in the LCD itself or is that a seperate part? I told him I would fix it and I need to know what to order.

I'm having a similar issue, My wife got the phone wet, so we dried it out. That part went well....
Well she got a new phone, and I put the Droid 2 in a draw, and recently found it again, deciding to look it over, I charged it up, turn it on.
Here is what problems it has, No Backlight on the LCD display, No LED Nofication lights, No keyboard lights, No Digitizer touch.
The phone boots and works, sounds work, OS is intact and under a flashlight I can see the screen.
my question is does the ribbon cable control all of these? or are the seperate problems?

Not functioning correctly after replacing broken screen. Help!

A few months ago the screen on my SPV M600 took a knock which cracked it pretty badly, to the point it couldn't be used. I've rebuilt two other HTC phones in the past so felt fairly happy buying and fitting a replacement screen myself, along with the fact Orange wanted well over £100 for repairing it!
I dismantled the phone back to the screen to find it had a gold LCD cable and bought a new one on eBay.
I've now tried fitting the screen which works perfectly when the phone is still appart, but when I put the casing back together the screen goes blank. The exact point it happens is when I'm clipping the side of the phone with the volume control into place. The screen gets very bright as if the backlight is either getting too much power from somewhere or the backlight setting isn't taking effect. If I set the backlight to minimum it's most noticable as it goes from dull to full brightness when I apply pressure between the screen and board on that side of the phone.
I've tried sliding a piece of card between the screen and board to see if there was something touching that shouldn't be, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.
If anyone could offer me any advice on how to solve this I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
I think I've solved it, I hadn't put a layer of the copper from the back of the old LCD onto the new one. It seems to be working fine now.

Touchscreen doesn't work anymore

Well, plain and simple is that my touchscreen doesn't response to any touch reponse but the screen is working and everything else
I recently bought a white G1 housing kit on ebay and decided to take the risk of opening up my G1 to replace the housing of my black G1 to the white one, but turns out the white case for the screen / menu buttons arent correct so i scraped those and just changed the keyboard and menu button keys to white and put everything back together properly and exam each part and etc.
so i put everything back together and turn on the g1 everything works fine but the touchscreen doesn't work, is there anyway i can fix this?
life is hard using the G1 without a working touchscreen lol
thanks again and i don't think my screen is defective just wondering why it doesn't reponse to my touch
thanks
Once I was walking around in the heat with my G1 in my BDU pocket for like 4 hours, and it obviously got really humid in my pocket, and my touchscreen stopped responding. I let the phone just sit off for a while and after about an hour sitting in my room, it started working again. But I've had several instances where the touch screen has been less responsive/not responsive.
My guess based off my experience would be that some ambient moisture may have gotten into the phone when you opened it up. How long has it been since you put it back together?
Any update on this?
you said you had 2 g1s, right? so take the phone apart again and replace the touch screen.
the touch screen is separate from the LCD, so that wont affect it.

Vogue replacement screen functions intermidantly

I am currently in discussions with the screen's vendor about the issue, but I figure somebody might have some advice to offer here too. I purchased a replacement screen for my Vogue after I cracked the factory LCD. Touch membrane was fine.
Opened the phone, pulled out the old LCD, replaced with new one, etc. At first, the "new" screen seemed to not power on at all - then after several cycles of open phone/test connections with old LCD/rebuild with new LCD I finally got the backlight on, yet the display itself seems to not be working. There is an ever so slight greenish glow in the bottom left corner of the replacement screen when the backlight was on.
Several hours later, during which time the phone just sat on my desk idle (but on) I hit the power button to turn on the screen and was dismayed that the backlight did not come on (simmilarly to how it was originally.) I am certain the phone was assembled correctly, all connections are secure, etc.
The vendor suggested adjusting brightness/contrast settings, which I skeptically tried to no avail with MyMobiler. So at this point, the backlight seems to work when it wants to and the display seems to not work well at all.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

LG Nexus 4 - Washed in a Washing Machine(Still Working)

Hi, I accidentally washed my phone in a washing machine(don't ask why) on Friday. On Saturday I dried it out and when I tried to charge it the red light has shown. Yesterday the red light went away and there was a green light shown. The thing is, I can turn my phone on, I can take calls, I can feel the vibrations when I move my finger around the screen but it is completely black. So I would like to ask, is there a way to fix it? E.g. a new digitzer or something?? Thanks in advance.
If you get haptic feedback when you touch the screen, its not the digitizer. Probably just the screen itself. You can find a new one online, just google it or check ebay

Is the LED notification light part of the screen?

Screen on my G2 was totally cracked up but the LED notification light still worked. Was red when I plugged in the charger. Was green when I turned on phone.
Got the screen replaced and now the LED notification light doesn't work. Charge the phone and no red light. Turn on the phone and no green light. Options for LED is turned on.
Is the notification led integrated into the screen? So I may have a faulty replacement screen?
Also read that maybe a factory reset may work but thats a last resort to check cuz I don't feel like setting phone all up again.
On a side note..do those screen repair stores you find in the mall usually use OEM or crap quality replacements? Je told me oem but i trust no one. Noticing as I press keys as i type I see parts of screen near finger get a little darker like if u press down on a LCD screen too hard. Other than that the screen is fine so far.

No its not.
Its a seperate part that attaches next to the selfie camera on the logic board.
Looks like the shop was in a hurry and forgot to connect the LED
As for the screen, I can say you have an aftermarket non OEM.
OEM they use LOCA or OCA to bond the Digitizer to the LCD.
By doing so, you have no weird darker/lighter effects when typing on it.
Just like the stock screen.
If you have those effects, I would recommend you have them replace the screen with one that's OEM and not an aftermarket.
My first screen repair story went like yours only I swapped it in myself.
Come to find out the seller sold me an aftermarket screen claiming it was OEM.
I had him refund me for it since I called him out on it quickly
Darn...hate confrontation so was hoping it was part of the screen so i can easily tell him to fix. Now he can just tell me it probably wasn't working due to dropping it but I know it was working. Could always fight the charge on my credit card if he's unwilling to do something about it.
As for aftermarket..i can tell him what you told me but he could jsut stick to his guns, lie and stay "its OEM" and probably nothing i can do about it.
Thanks for the info!
Using a light...it looks like there's nothing in there where the sensor/LED shoudl be..its like i can see to the back of the case.
EDIT: Opened up...the whole proximity part is missing!! I'm assuming the LED light is part of that since that's not working and its right next to it.
EDIT2: I guess the IR blaster is part of that too...lol
Thing that pisses me off now is that he didn't put in my factory stock part and will replace it with a possibly crappy aftermarket part.
I'm demanding some money back for this nonsense.
