Can't wait

Not ics..
Sent from my Nexus S 4G

uhh, why did you mention ice cream? 2.3.6 is just an OTA update with fixes like for the search button issue.
....and broken tethering

this is a fix for users having problems with google voice lulz

Why would they push an entire OTA just to fix an app? Honest question.... Please no flame me

ppl have been reporting that the google voice search has made their phones unusable. i'm not sure how, but thats what i've been reading. they say its so bad that they rather give up tethering capabilities with the new update.

Thats weird.... I wish google would put in some new api's in return for breaking tether..... Is the issue carrier specific?

Lmao some ppl r thick.

im not sure, i know that Canada ns's have already gotten the roll out, and a few AT&T ns owners have reported they got it too. I haven't heard from Sprint or Tmo owners yet.

What's up with the ice cream?

You think too much!
Android 2.3.6 isn't Ice cream sandwich.

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium

Why would anyone think that a 2.3 release would be ice cream sandwich
ICS would be at least 2.4 if not 4.0
As long as we are on 2.3.* releases we're still on Gingerbread, common sense!

I think op feels really dumb cuz he hasn't posted on here since he started this topic. . Can some just close thread.

Title aside, is 2.3.6 expected for other models? Have a I9020T.

Don't think so! That update was aimed to fix google voice search problem, and some other small bugs. Maybe we will get some other update for I9020T before ICS, but we can't be sure... My Nexus is working fine for now ...

Whats going to be the name of the next 2.4 android fw? Anyone feel like guessing? Another dessert maybe
It's gonna be called ice cream sandwich

Google search is your friend. No need to start a new thread.
Honeycomb is Android 3.+
Ice Cream Sandwich is Android 4.0
2.4 is still Gingerbread. It is a minor branch.
2.0 and 2.1 were both Eclair as well.

Looking at it with Xperia range numbers, the 2.3.4 update is going to be named somthing like:
Code:
[STRIKE]3.1.X.A/C/D/F/G.X.XXX[/STRIKE] 4.0.A/C/E/F/G.X.XXX

2. 4 doesn't exist, you mean to 2.3.4 which is still gingerbread.
Question I have is what will the next android number be? Afterall the tablets have 3.0 so will it carry on from 2.4? Or go to 4?

there were rumors about 2.5 but 3.0 HC "honey comb" took it's place.
All the versions are named alphabetically.

As it's not a major update it will have3.1As opposed to the current3.0
Like I mentioned in the post earlier.
Edit:
It will probably be named 4.0 for the 2.3.4 update on the Xperia's

ebay scammer

This douche is trying to sell a Galaxy S and is advertising that it is unopened and unused with Android 2.4 "Ice cream sandwich" installed. I want to report him but can't find anything in the "report policy" that pertains to this. I don't use ebay all that often, is this quite common? Hopefully most people ignore it and don't fall for it.

ICS is supposed to be where Honeycomb and Gingerbread meet and work for both tablets and phones. However, there is no ICS in the wild, if there were it would be here and it certainly isn't on a brand new Galaxy S 1.
Any chance that Ice Cream Sandwich really IS loaded onto the device?
No.

Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich coming for......

More ICS News are coming from Samsung mobile, the Latest rumor informed that Samsung Will Upgrade all Gt-I9XXX series to the Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwhich in the Upcmoing period Which Includes Samsung Galaxy S, Nexus S and Galaxy SII, Google also announce that all android smartphone which already got official 2.3.3 update will also work with ICS like any other Update. But we Still waiting to get an official announcement from Samsung. Mostly, Samsung Galaxy S will get the same ICS version of the Galaxy Nexus which is 4.0.1 but I am not sure about the touchwiz UI of samsung
www.youmobile.org/blogs/entry/Samsung-to-Update-Galaxy-S-Nexus-S-and-Galaxy-S-II-to-Android-4-0-ICS
google already announced that during Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2011
Matias Duarte think most Gingerbread devices will see an upgrade, saying: "Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically should work for any 2.3 device

so not much of a news here, nothing that we do not know already ;]
Somator, why do u take every thing so negatively. Its a glimmer of hope for sgs isn't that good.
Also Matias duarte said that most gingerbread devices will be able to handle ics but here the site is saying that Google believes that all 2.3.3 devices can handle ics properly.
But isn't that opposing their own announcement that nexus one wont get ics. Its either the news is fake or Google are not sure themselves or are rethinking on nexus one.

Will an Official 4.0 ICS ever be available for the Mytouch 4G in the future?
Many Users on the Internet are promoting to a official Ice Cream Sandwich release. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!

The device Is very capable of handling ics just like nexus s.. I think its all revenue. Be it so your better off rooting and flashing ported ics Rom.and I think Febycv is doing a wonderful job.y Yes a lot of people are excited about ics. Its the latest android development release. So if you like android phones then you should be excited about its latest release.

Agree that its capable of running it. Can you imagine what ICS mysense will look like though?
Its a pity, the myTouch 4G seems to be even more capable than the Nexus S because of the 50% more memory... I myself am looking to switch from a Galaxy S series phone to the myTouch 4G because of the crazy amount of swapping going on because of the small amount of RAM...
The myTouch 4G is basically an HTC Sensation without the 2nd core, but with dual core mattering so little at the moment, it really does suck that the myTouch won't get an official update...

plus it'll be mysense too, so you're better off flashing a port. mysense is so bad IMO. I think sense is bad period.

Well other HTC devices have already been announced by HTC and Mytouch isn't one of them
