no android boot - HD Mini General

hi that is my problem.
i can't boot android
for 2 month had worked correctly then 3 days ago stop...
i don't want format because i don't want lose same sms.
there is a mode for restart android without format?
i click on haret or android, and appear the window android boot but the nothing...
sorry for english i m from italy, and thanks who help me,or also try

absolutely you need to format, or if not... which class, Brand, Spaces.

1.Copy from the micro SD card to PC "data.ext2" in a folder, give folder name "Backup" or whatever you want...
2.Format SD card
3.Copy new Android files to the root of SD card (as when doing a new installation)
4.Replace "data.ext2" with "data.ext2" from folder Backup
5.Eject SIM card
6.Run Haret

can you see the SDcard in the file explorer of WM?
sometimes I can't see the card in the file explorer.
if that is the case, just plug the card out and put it back, then you should be able to boot android.

@¨K¨ : can you see the SDcard in the file explorer?
@ furious84: i click on haret
i think he see otherwise how he can click on Haret?

@ 15MA1L: can't you see your SDcard in your file explorer on your mini?
I have a shortcut in WM and I can click on it even if there is no SDcard plugged in (of course there is no reaction after), maybe furious84 has a similar shortcut?

you're right! stupid me

well guys thank-you for answering.
yes i can see sd from wm,other program installed on it are working.
if i backup the ext,i backup all of android?i mean sms, settings ecc...?
ps yes i have shortcut on the home, but o tryed from home, and also directly from sd but result was same

uhm...well i think i did something of stupid before read yours suggest...
i moved some files from device to pc(haret,system,data,fsck0000,and folder data in folder android),and then erase that files on device.
then i start new haret, without sim,and stat ok,but how a new installation, without old home ecc ecc.
so i pluged device with pc,and i copyed files, into device, but one for time,i mean copy one and boot copy another and boot, searching to have old things...but nothing....then...i lost all?
another question,i see there is a new release,of android, with froyo.it s that stable?which are good and bad?can have some pics of that?
sorry guys for long post, and thanks.

There is more than one version of android for hd mini. All are still in dev-stage.
I am using this one (google code release) and it works nice for me. Seems to be near to "ready for all day use"

Problem problem problem Android lock my micro SD class 2 16gb

How could it be possible I always used my 2gb micro SD but last night I made the decision to say bye to winmo n started using my 16gb. So I transfers the android folder to it used it n all was good then I wanted to back up all of my winmo files so i remove the SD card from my phone n place it in my card reader..n said to reformat the card..I HAVE NO ACCESS TO MY SD CARD.. I can't even format it some how it got protected...even my phone days to formatted but is never successful...ANY ADVISE THANK YOU
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ive got a sd problem too. i ever used the same 16gb class2 microsd card tu run android builds and store winmo and android data. last night ive tried to switch from darkstone to matcc android build. i reformatted the sd card, put the files on it (only android folder nothing else) and started android. everything was fine but i´ve got a bsod(radio 2.12.50_2 and german stock vodafone rom). then ive tried another android build but i got the same error(doesnt ever got bsod before). later android didn start at all(every build). then ive tried chuckys rom with matcc vers. 1.5 and ive got the bsod problem again. tried 2 other builds and now andriod doesnt start and i cant even connect my hd2 to my pc(bootloader doesnt connect too) but chucky rom boots correctly. everytime ive tried another build i reformatted my sd card to fat32. hope someone can help me, sorry for bad english.
i got this problem now too. android somehow writeprotected my sd card so i can't put files on or take files off anymore...it's basicallly made my 16gb card useless. can't format or anything. tried through windows mobile, pc, and android...nothing works. anybody know how to fix it?
Same thing happened to me. My class 2 16gb card is now locked and ive found no way to unlock it.
Not that I really liked that card anyway, but it was nice to have so much storage space.
thats no problem. On your adapter for your micro sd card, there is a lock on the side of it. Make sure that it is in the up position. Basically in the unlock position, then it wont be write protected.
No, your not understanding. Its not the physical lock on the adaptor, its a logical lock on the Micro SD itself.
The Micro SD card comes up as locked no matter what I use to try and format, or delete etc.
I've googled like mad trying to find a way to fix it even installing Ubuntu to see if another OS could do it, but everything fails.
Same here I came to a conclusion. That there are some files in the SD card....what was the last buid u were using before this happened...the best solution. For this should be with an android. Phone and astro file management explore the SD card...unlucky. me none of my friends have an android device

ok..
whats wrong with just formating the card with ' GPARTED ' .. assumption of Linux usage !
or if you use that sloppy old microsoft O/S then use 'paragon partition manager '

delete file by file and see which one is locked on the card.
change permissions on the sd card.
try to delete files from the winmo
try to overwrite the android folder and start it with another build and then format after a sucessfull start.

I tried replacing android folder using a card reader but that didnt work either... i'm going to try that storage tools suggestion..but i doubt anything will work. CMD finished and said that the disk was unreadable after finishing 99%.
Ok
Sounds like corrupted sectors or damaged disk to me
Put the card into a windows pc and run scandisk on the card, make sure you check : fix errors automatically and scan for bad sectors

run HARET not in the android folder?

Dear all the rooting professors of mine ^^,
I have try many time, as if I run my android n windows mobile on the same SD card, the android system will try to make a lot of folder which make the card become messy can not organized, so when ever runnung the win mo again, very difficult to seek for so file on SD card, so, is there any method can make that solve?
I think of some possible solution,
1. make a partition for my SD card, then run the android from storage card n windows mobile files on storage card 2 but that make my android always restart , seems not stable.....
2. try to put android folder inside another folder i.e. sdcard\ABC\android to let the android make up floder stay inside the ABC, but android didnt run...
I cant think of any solution anymore, and i have surf around XDA but cant figure out how can it work .... hope all the lovely guys here can help ^^

You have to change the startup file to reflect the extra folder that you put the android folder in in order for it to boot.
do you mean if I have sd card\ABC\android for the HARET,
then I need to change the startup.txt ?
sorry to be annoying, but may I know how can I change the txt ??
thanks x 1000000000
just copy and paste the whole android folder to your sd cards root, no any folder.... go to file explorer open up android folder look for CLRCAD. click on it and nothing is gonna happen but dont worry this is normal, make sure your keypad lights are on and run haret and let the magic work,,, oh make sure you turn automatic backlight of and kill all tasks in WIN MO settings before doing all this.... good luck .... >

Well considering Windows runs off the system and Android runs off the SD card, that should give you your answer.

i Copy contents of copytosdroot folder to the root of my sd.then i boot into magldr and go into USB Flasher whilst still connected to my laptop,Run DAF,when thats done i again boot into magldr and tap Boot AD SD but it keep failing to go into Clockwork,i keep getting soming like k:Music/zimage not found or failed to load kernal even tho ive fully formated my sd,its really anoying,i cant try out any new roms exept nand,Really frustrating
I had problems running like this initially - what worked was putting the 'copytosd' files in a folder on the SD Card (I used 'ADSD'), then changing the Boot AD SD folder option in the Settings menu to that new folder ('ADSD').
Then try using 'Boot AD SD' option.
For some reason it did not like the root folder initially (though it now seems to work fine).
Use Panasonic SD Card formatter & re format the SD card & try again, I had the same issues but now its resolved..!!!

Guys,
Mine works as well so not a UK issue
Did you follow the instructions using DAF and indicated that it was successful but when you try to 1: boot from sd nothing happens or it flashes and returns to the MAGLDR screen?
I had an issue with the root folder as well, create a folder \recovery and copy the 2 root files intrid.gz and zimage to the \recovery and goto services and change the boot to folder to \recovery.
Important reboot before trying as MAGLDR does not change the folder until after a reboot.
Boot from SD and should be OK
Or at least was for me
Now Nand has came out it has inspired a lot to create their own Android builds and new chefs make mistakes. Not trying to blame chefs in general but some do make mistakes.
Also when we used to load up the builds from SD card, I would say 8 times out of 10 I would use a data.img which hasnt been used before. Now if you go from a Sense build to a non-Sense build, and you are using a data.img in app2sd, then they are not properly matched so a-b might go to a-c and miss b out if you know what I mean. What I do is use a data.img for Sense, another for Sense HD/Z, another one for Gingerbread and another for Miui and these are on my Desktop. When I load up a different builds like Sense to Miui, then I will move the data.img from .data or data2sd folder off the memory card and then overwrite the data.img I have on the Desktop for Sense and replace it for my Miui data.img.
I know it sounds tedious but I found it to help.
Also for the new App2SD+, I create the partition using ClockWorkMod instead of another application. I will use Partition Wizard for Windows to delete a partition and resize the fat32 partition back to the full use of the memory card but always partition and create EXT3 partition using ClockWorkMod.
Hope this helps.

Android SD is deleting all new files on SD card and new files not visible

Hello,
i have 2 problems:
1. I formated my 8 GB card under FAT32 and i copied on Andorid. Then i copied some apps on the card to install them, but when i opened Files explorer in android, the files were not there. Then i opened the card again in windows, and they were there again!!! So they are visible in windows and not visible in android
2. I put back my music on the card, it was ok for 30 mins and after that all the new files on the card ware gone! Only the android folder was there!
What to do?
Anybody can help?
Am i the only one with this problem
From what I remember this has been a problem when using Android to move files to your sdcard, are you using Nand or SD?
After you copy something try rebooting and then it should show up. Way back when before Nand we had to do it this way as for some reason Android will not see the new file until you reboot.
I've restarted the phone several times, but still no files...
Are you using a SD or Nand rom?
SD. All i can see on the card from droid file manager are only the droid files.
Update: After moving the files on the phone while in WM, now i can see them in Android also... for now I will update it if android deletes them or something...

Glad you got it sorted out, yeah mounting your sdcard while running an SD Android rom has never been the most reliable. I would definitely suggest doing it in WinMo from now on to avoid any issues

[Q] MAGLDR not seeing all directories on SD card

I've always booted Android from my SD card using RunDroid under Windows 6.5. But I broke my HD2 so I bought another used HD2.
This "new" HD2 already has Android (NAND) installed and it's using MAGLDR 1.13. The installed Android version runs fine so I don't want to remove it. Instead, I simply want to run the same Android I've been running on my old HD2 from SD.
So I boot into MAGLDR, goto Services -> Boot Settings-> AD-SD Dir to pick the directory I want to boot my Android from.
Problem is, the directory list MAGLDR is showing isn't anywhere near complete. It only shows the first 9 directories on the SD card (there are about 30 directories on the SD card). So I'm unable to choose the right directory to boot from.
This is a 16GB SD card formatted as FAT32. My old HD2 had no problems whatsovere reading from it (not in Win6.5, not in Android).
So does anybody know what's wrong here?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Perhaps some folders have an attribute set that is hiding them? -h for instance. Personally I'd create a new folder, test if mgldr can see it, and if it can, move the contents of the android folder into it. If itccan't, I'd backup the SD, and do a complete reformat of the card, including rebuilding the partition from scratch.
All directories can be viewed from within Android without problem...
Odd thing is, that MAGLDR is displaying all directory names in 8.3 format. In fact, I think it only shows the directories created from within WM 6.5. The directories it doesn't show are created from within Android.
I've copied the contents of the SD Card to my PC's harddrive, reformatted the SD Card and copied everything back.
It's still only showing the first 9 directories (only this time 9 different directories).
The card was formatted using FAT32 since I want the card to be readable under WM6.5 as well. But that shouldn't be a problem considering Android can read the SD card just fine.

try this just for kicks, if youcan be bothered,,,, empty teh card, put the dirs on in the ordser you want them to appear, one at a time. Im betting the first nine you drag across will appear.
Ive seen harddisks do the 8.3 thing unexpectedly, i'd be looking hard at the sd card. If you have another card available, definitely give it a test to compare.
As for the fat32 formatting, perhaps a non standard block size was used (or at least one magldr wasn't expecting, , remember magldr is a handfull of lines of code compared to androids many hundred thousand lines, , just saying 'well android can read it fine' is a bit like saying 'hey what gives, , my binoculars can't see the horsehead nebula, but the hubble can'
(astronerds, calm yourselves, yes i know you can see it thru a nice set of decent binos with a good lense/filter, it was just the first commonly known astro object i could think of )
Yeah it's showing the first 9 directories only so I did what you said and cleared the SD card and copied the Android folder first, then the rest. MAGLDR now saw the right Android directory and I was able to set it as boot directory. But now I have another weird problem. I've started a new thread since it's (I think) an unrelated problem.

That was a problem to me when I started playing with nativesd, seeing only the first few directories, but if you just use the volume rocker to scroll down, you will get another page of the remaining directories and files, simple.
Just great reply - Thanks
