Sorry if this has been solved, I tried searching to no avail.
I get this terrible vibration while I'm on a phone call and I receive a SMS, I use GO SMS, rooted and on the Alien ROM. I had the same problem unrooted and stock ROM.
Anyone know how to get rid of it? the only solution I've seemed to find is turning off vibration completely for SMS which I don't want to do.
Thanks ahead of time!
Hmm in CM7 you click on text app then press menu key the go to setting then notification settings then uncheck vibrate during call. Not sure if that's a CM7 feature only at the moment but worth a try

For some reason, none of my SMS programs will vibrate even when I tell them to... SMS Pop-up, CHOMPSMS and the default messaging won't vibrate. The Missing Call app in the market will vibrate though so anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?
mine is the same way. don't understand it. seems to have started with the update
I have noticed with the newest (5.0.1 and 5.0.2) update from cyanogen whenever I flash either his ROM (or my theme which uses his ROM as a base) that I have to go into the messaging app and re-check the vibrate option.
Weird - this occurs on mine also on all messaging apps. I have rooted with the new update (not the newest one that isn't OTA yet). Any advice?
Anyone have any fixes? I noticed that notifications for other apps don't vibrate as well; Gmail and mobile package tracker specifically.
i found a solution by trolling other forums. install 'sound manager' from the market. open it, hit the menu soft key, and select the vibration settings option. when that opens, set it up however you want. tested it, and now i have vibration with sms again! sounds like it is some extra work, but whatever. it works
You are my hero! that fixed it!

it happened to me once .. I did a Clear Storage (aka Hard Reset) via fastboot (hold down volume + power) and it WORKED.

Click to collapse
oooo crap that's true... oo wait, IT DOESN'T WORK...
no, it didn't work for me, and doesn't for several people. the sound manager app fixed it. trust me. try it out.
Use handcent lol, Vibrate works great for me lol.
Confirmed - issue occurs on ANY rom as soon as Handcent is installed. Sound board or wipe is only way to resolve.
sound manager app fixes. see my post above
Hi,
I've been using CM (lastest) on my N1. Now that Froyo is out I reverted to stock, applied Froyo, and CM's quickroot patch.
I set vibration to always in Settings -> Sounds.
The same in the Messaging application, it's set to vibrate always.
Unfortunately when I receive an SMS I don't get vibration at all, which is not nice.
Is this a bug, or do you guys know what might solve it?
Thanks!

I have the same problem. It doesn't seem to vibrate for e-mails either which is rather frustrating
edit: nvm, i didn't check the settings lol ><
get sound manager from the market. install it, open it, hit menu>vibrate settings. set whatever you want. that is what fixed it for me when i was having similar problems on eclair
Hi all is there a tweak/hack to turn off the sent text sound ? there was a tweak on my last phone (zest). Cheers John
I don't know about a tweak/hack but it doesn't do it in the latest ROM (1.36). Try flashing that. It used to annoy me as well!
You can flash a custom ROM to get rid of it, i use Tom's ROM and don't have that sound.
to turn off your sent text sound, just go in to your sound settings....
ive set mine to:
>make sound when text fails to send
>vibrate when i get a new text
>silent when texts are sent
unless i have the wrong idea here
Hey everyone
Just got my galaxy and am loving android. Have just updated to 2.2
Only issue im having is, when the screen is in sleep mode (i.e locked) if i miss a call, or recieve text msg (and arent near the phone) it will just flash up for like 3 seconds, then the screen goes black again, so there is no way I can tell ive missed something without having to press the home button every now and again.
I downloaded this application "missed call" as I thought that might resolve the issue, but that doesnt seem do anything when phne is in lock/sleep mode so doesnt help.
Also when the phone is active, and i do recieve sms it doesnt vibrate even thoug I have set it to in the settings.
If anyone knows howto get repeat/constant notifications going when phone is in sleep mode that would be great ???
Thanks heaps
Justin
Look for app noled
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
thanks heaps ill try it
btw does anyone know howto make it with show many characters your sms currently is ? So you know when your going over 1 txt etc.
thanks again
**PROBLEM SOLVED**
Been running CM7 for awhile now.
If I have my phone set to vibrate only, and I receive a SMS, my phone does not vibrate. If someone calls me, it does vibrate.
Yes, I did do a search. Yes, I did check the Cyanogen forums. No, I didn't find what I was looking for. Trolls please move along.
Also, I seem to have lost the screen on/off animations.
If I don't get a good answer, I'll try wiping and re flashing everything. Although I would rather not do that.
Make sure and check that vibrate is enabled in the sms app settings to fix the vibrate issue.
Make sure that your spare parts settings for transitions are both set to normal instead of fast or the screen animations won't work
Also, download an app called sound manager and then hit menu and then vibrate settings.
Thanks for the quick reply. I feel really stupid for not checking the SMS settings.
And thanks for the quick fix for the screen on/off animations.
