Personally I'd just re-install whichever ROM you are using. I would also recommend re-installing the driver on your PC and see if that helps..

My phone wont promt me to mount my SD card when i connect via USB to my laptop

I tried to figure out how to setup adb, and in the process tried to reinstall HTCSync2.0.25.
Ever since then (it may be a coincidence though) my phone does nothing but charge when i ahve it plugged into my laptop. I tried different cords, ports and computers and still no notification telling me to mount.
Is there a setting that i touched that may have turned off mounting?
Did i somehow delete the drivers? If so, what do i need to download because clearly HTCSync2.0.25 isnt doing anything for me since i tried removing and reinstalling + rebooting several times.
Any tips?
EDIT: Ive never had any problems before and i cant remember if i had any when i first got the phone or not.. I'm on windows 7
are you using stock ROM or? does you phone play sound when it connect to the laptop?
everything is stock htc sense.
no sound is made. its like the phone doesnt exist when i plug it in. it just charges. At first i thought it was my laptop, but then i tried my other computer and it didnt work their either..
Have you tried rebooting your phone?
yes, more than once.
Rebooting hte phone with the sd card unmounted (from the phone settings). Rebooting with usb debugging enabled. rebooting with usb debugging disabled. rebooted my laptop. everything
bad data pins on the usb port on the phone?
i doubt that. it worked fine 2 days ago.
Do you have DoubleTwist installed? I tried it once and it messed up my usb mounting and media scanning.
nopei havent installed any new apps between the time where it worked, and it didnt.
one day it did, the next it didnt.
Maybe its a driver error? wehn you first plug in a new htc magic, will it see the SD card or will it not do anyhting until your have the proper drivers? because i just reinstalled htc sync for the 10th time and it still doesnt see anyhting
Can you mount via recovery?
If yes then it's not hardware, cable or your usb port. Likely rom or app related.
If not then it's hardware, cable or your usb port.
well i dont know how to mount via usb, but the screen says fastboot usb when i plug it in.
Nothing comes up on the computer..

What kind of recovery are you using?
Reboot to recovery and mount the sdcard from there.
Plug it into your computer.
Does a removable disk show up?
Try a different sdcard
Try a different usb cable
Try a different computer even!
If all three fail then it's probably your phone (hardware).
Try to mount via recovery (sdcard in the phone, rebooted to recovery and depending on your recovery version... in this example I'll use Clockwork Recovery go to Partitions Menu > mount USB storage.)
If successful then it's rom related.
If fail then hardware (sdcard, phone hardware, computer hardware, usb cable) related
It's not difficult to troubleshoot. We just need to eliminate possible problems to pinpoint whether it's your sdcard, phone, usb cable or computer.
Thanks forhelping me. I appreciate it.
But I don't know how to mount via bootmenu. Il try a different sd card when I get home.
Also I got the stock recovery. Nothing had ben changed
Alright i just put in another sd card and still nothing. would formatting to factory settings help?
But before i do that, is there an app that backs up all my data and then restores it?

Uhhh.... yeah. There are several apps on the Market that will back up your data and restore it. Mybackup Pro ($$$) and Titanium Backup (Free) are the most popular.
But I would suggest installing a custom recovery first.
Try clockwork (use my signature) by downloading Rom Manager.
As long as you have root, (you do have root right?) then you can easily install a custom recovery.
Honestly though, it sounds like a problem with your computer or cable. If you can access the sdcard from your phone then it doesn't sounds like an issue with the card.
yea i guess its a problem with my phone then. I just did a factory reset and still nothing. I tried different cords on different computers so its unlikely that they're all broken..
And no i dont ahve root. Thats why i needed to connect, i was trying to root my phone!

Yup. It sounds like an issue with the usb port on your phone then.
It seems like it's not recognizing the cable when it's plugged in to switch to enable usb mounting.
but how could this happen so randomly? i had it plugged in and no problems, then when i went to replug it in a minute later nothing happened.
It's not a driver problem?
My computer gave em a popup once saying the device malfunctioned or something

It could be a driver, but if you tried a different computer then it's like you said... it's unlikely that all your computers are having the issue.
Just for the hell of it, uninstall the drivers, plug the phone in and try mounting it.
We just need removable storage and that doesn't take any special drivers at all.
yea thats what i tried yesterday, which still didnt work
i'm on hold with HTC now.. i'll see what they say. it's still under warranty
I cant believe this randomly happened.

Mass storage problems

Hello,
I'm having problems connecting my phone to the computer with a USB.
The first problem is making the phone aware that it is connected to the computer. If I have the phone already on and connect it, it will start charging, but the notification bar won't tell me it's connected. To solve this, I found out that I have to turn the phone on while it's ALREADY connected. I think this could indicate some kind of problem. Doing this I'm able to tell the phone to mount the SD card.
But my second problem is that I can't get it to mount in my computer if I choose Mass Storage. I tried on 2 computers (Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows Seven), and it didn't work in neither of them. I tried turning USB debugging on, and it made no difference.
When I unplug the phone, it will still think it's connected, the only way to fix it is by restarting the phone.
If I insert the microSD directly in the computer (with an adapter) it works fine.
Has anyone had success mounting it on Linux? Finding a Windows solution wouldn't solve my problem, as I only use Linux.
Thank you!
When you click on Mass Storage, pull down the notification bar and click in Select/Click here to copy files to/from your computer and it will mount your SD Card and you will be able to copy files to and from SD Card
Do u have samsung drivers?

I'm having your first problem too. I Think this happend after I've rooted my phone, then I tryed to unroot, but doesn't worked. Any idea of how I can fix it? If the way to solve that is flashing I'll flash a Froyo rom, I haven't did it yet cause I'm waiting for the official Froyo from Samsung, but they're taking too much time to release it!
Thanks for any idea/solution.

Well, I fixed this problem on my Galaxy 3 with a Factory Recovery. But first I've made a backup to the SD Card, with MyBackup Root (need root), after that I turned the phone off, and turned on pressing VolUp + VolDown + Home + Power, to enter the Recovery mode, and then wiped the data (restored the factory config). Now the phone shows the connection menu when I plug it to the usb.

I guess doing a factory recovery would remove root, right? Did you root again and Mass Storage kept working?

Welty, if you decide going for flashing a new rom, let us know if it works. I'm leaving for vacations tomorrow, so I won't be able to try anything in the next 2 weeks, but if you make any progress, let us know
@iomartin
I was thinking that I was going to lose the root, but when the phone rebooted with the factory settings the root was there, I just needed to install the app to restore the backup.
About the flashing, I did it today, with the JPF (Froyo), and it's working fine, I'll test the battery duration to post my impressions about it. Froyo has a better keyboard and I'm not using Swype
Sent from my GT-I5800, Froyo (JPF), using XDA App
*EDIT* Well, the battery is good. With my use (Wi-Fi for entire day, used to see TweetDeck and some web with Opera Mobile, few phone calls and some sms), it's good, just like Eclair, or a little worst, but nothing that compromises my phone usage. Let's see if the Samsung official Froyo for SG3 will be better. Hope this helped you in your decision about this upgrade. You're from Brazil too, and I thing Samsung will release Froyo soon, like GS5 already have it and SGS had the Beta Froyo released too.
Can you try the options described in the below thread?

[Q] My computer won't properly recognize Note 3 in recovery

Hello.
I rooted my Note 3, installed recovery, wiped everything and as I was about to copy Echo ROM to the phone I noticed that Windows won't recognize it anymore.
I tried 2 machines with Windows 7 and 8. Same issue on both. It finds something called "cd device" but won't let me access it so I can copy the rom to it.
When I try to mount USB storage in recovery it just jumps to the top of the list.
Windows fails to install something called "MTP USB Device".
This is really frustrating. I've had almost the same problem on my Desire HD and One x (except there recovery wouldn't recognize it at all).
Any way to fix this?

Have you tried kies should work
sounds like a driver issue...do you have drivers installed? if nothing works you will most likely have to odin back to stock...
I tried Kies and it was to no use.
So I took another approach. I used sideload to send and install the rom.
However the phone now just keeps restarting itself.
This issue must be my curse. It's really stupid and frustrating to have it appear on 3rd phone in a row.

reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset and then reboot...if the rom was flashed correctly then you should get out of the bootloop

Tried that and it's till looping.
I did get some verification error. And the rom installation took only like 15 seconds. So it's probably failing somewhere. I'll try some other roms and see if I get the same error.
So I installed TWRP and still, same problem.
Except this one keeps "starting ADB sideload feature" forever.
This is really pissing me off.
So I went back to CWM recovery and went sideload with slim Echoe rom and it finally worked.
But I still don't know why I can't mount USB and also why I get error while trying to sideload files over 1gb.

[Q] G2 only boots into TWRP

So my G2 only boots into TWRP after wiping cache and dalvik cache and fixing permissions..
When i plug it into my pc it says that "the last device that was plugged into usb, doesnt work properly" or something. i updated the lg mobile drivers, nothing works
i tried adb but it doesnt see my device so i updated the sdk but the my g2 isnt listed..
i also tried wiping data and system
So to my phone: international open d802 stock G2 rooted (loki of course) with some xposed frameworks
i also didnt update my firmware or something because i read a lot about things like this happening because of it
i think that something was already wrong before i wiped cache and that stuff because my pc didnt recognize the phone before it too thats also why i wiped cache and fixed permissions
(excuse possible grammar mistakes, im from germany..)
thanks in advance
is there any way how i can get my phone to boot without wiping my internal storage?

[Q] Hard bricked NST after deleting partitions

Hello,
My NOOK is completely unresponsive with a plain white screen. When I connect it to the computer it does not get recognized so writing the backup on it is not an option. I tried disconnecting the battery with no avail.
Anyone with more advanced suggestions? And remember partitions are deleted (I was trying to write an old backup on it).

Did you try booting to the SD card? Maybe with NookManager or CWM? Not sure how the partition issue would affect this since I'm not sure how much of the device is needed to be working to boot an SD card.
It does not turn on of course. That is what I meant by "completely unresponsive". So booting from SD is currently not an option. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I do not have a device that is stuck at some screen, that can be turned on or off. the only signs of life are
1- the green led lights up when connected to charger.
2- "unrecognized device" sound comes from my windows PC when I connect the NST to it via USB..
