I had uploaded from my previous phone all my contacts to my Gmail account under a group phone. So my Galaxy S downloaded all of them.
Now here comes the questions:
1) When I create a new contact what should I do to have it synced with my Gmail account? I suppose I have to create it under my Gmail account and not to the phone? Right? What about the contacts under th phone, they are not synced with my Gmail? What if I have several accounts?
2) I have added my facebook account and I have linked contacts together. Is this backed-up somewhere? I found the simple answer is no.
So what I want is to update my contacts with correct data, link them together and have them backed up to my gmail account?
If you tell me about kies, it back up only what is in the phone...
First, hello. First post, I'm an HTC Incredible owner (root, s-off, SkyRaider 2.2 ROM), and my wife just got a Droid2.
I'm stumped on trying to get her Google calendar to show up on her Droid2.
Accounts shows her Google account and when I tap it, it shows options for synch of email and contacts, but there is no entry for calendar like there is on my Incredible.
When I go to the option to add an account, there is no option to add a calendar to synch (not that I expected one).
So, basically, she has a useless calendar app, you can't even add entries, because it wants something to synch with first.
What am I missing?
That's strange. Sync Calendar is there on my Droid 2 and works fine. Has she set up her calendar through Gmail online yet? Might need to do that first.
Yeah, I thought that might be it, you're right, it is a new account.
I set up her calendar through Gmail on line and added one event about an hour ago.
Maybe I should just give it some time...or, maybe I need to delete her Google account on the phone and re-add it?
Yeah I would delete and re-add the account.
Yup, that did it...of course, I had to go through a full factory reset to delete that account, but after a bit of setup all over again, she's in business. Thx.
I have an HTC Hero from Sprint. The htc contactbook (people), when adding a contact, allows you to either add it as a google contact (for syncing with your gmail account) or as a phone contact (so it does not sync back to gmail account). Does the AOSP contactbook (contacts) have this ability? Just to clarify I want to be able to add a contact but not have that contact sync with my gmail account.
I am running cm6 rc1 and when I added a contact it says it is going to be a google contact
Hi everyone, my first message here. Been lurking for a while though.
I have a question about how the Motoblur account management works. I have never used any Android devices except for my new Atrix, and so I don't know which parts of the system I am encountering are stock Google apps, and which ones are Motorola's. So, when I click on the Accounts app (or select Accounts from the Settings menu), I have two sections: MOTOBLUR Accounts, and Other Accounts. When I just bought the phone, I didn't know enough about MOTOBLUR (and didn't realize that it pushed the login information through its servers), and so I added my social network (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn) accounts to MOTOBLUR. I think I may have added a GMail account as well (same as my Google account, which also supports my Google Calendar, Google Contacts, etc.). In the Other Accounts, I added Google only.
After a while, I realized that MOTOBLUR is a horrendous idea that should have never existed, and deleted all of the accounts that were listed under my MOTOBLUR accounts section (except for the MOTOBLUR account itself, which is locked). The Google account, which is under Other Accounts, stayed.
So my questions are:
- Does MOTOBLUR still have continued access to all the syncs that my Google account does to the text messaging application, calendar widgets (not MOTOBLUR calendar), etc.? I.e., is the Google account under "Other accounts" exposed to MOTOBLUR's servers?
- What is the role of MOTOBLUR on the phone if it's not doing anything with the social network applications, and the e-mail is configured through the Google account, and not through MOTOBLUR's GMail account?
Thank you.
Is it possible to benefit from a Google account such as on gingerbread, basically allowing the phone to stay synched with google account data (contacts & calendar)
