This is probably not specific to the Energy ROM, let alone the Blackstone, and could well be across the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.
I'm looking for a cross-platform, open standard contact file (like .VCF) that can export ALL the information that can be held for a contact in Windows Mobile 6.5. I'm talking about ALL the fields (e.g. Department, Assistant, Manager's Name, Goverment ID, Work E-mail 4 etc....).
When exported as a vCard (.VCF), there is only so much information that can be contained within it. Notably, the photo for each contact cannot be carried across through a vCard so I'm looking for a standard that can, that is also supported for Windows Mobile 6.5 or at least Windows Phone 7 & Android (for the future).
I considered the Windows Contact (.contact) standard, but it seems it is very restricted in what applications in can be exported/imported from/to. Even Outlook and Windows Live Mail don't seem to support these.
Does anyone know of any other standards that are more suitable and hold more info than the ageing vCard?

I have a HTC Touch HD running Windows Mobile 6.1.
Also using Blackberry Connect to provide wireless synchronisation to email, contacts and appointments via my corporate BES.
Have the SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PC to allow me to work on word, Excel and Powerpoint files on my mobile device.
The SoftMaker Office 2008 programs (Testmaker, Planmaker and Presentations) are all associated with the appropriate file file types.
For example if I click an an excel file the file is opened for editing by Planmaker, not pocket excel.
The Problem.
I receive office type documents as attachments in my windows mobile device email. However when I open the attachements from within the eMail the default pocket word/office applications are used to show me the attachment instead of the Softmaker applications.
I work in EH&S and the majority of attachents I receive are Incident Notification Forms which are a large multi tabed excel sheet. Because they are large and they take a long time and considerable space to fully download.
I am happy to be able to see the initial part of the attachment (with option to download more) but I would like to see this in Planmaker as pocket excel screws the formating so badly I cannot read the summary information (displayed on the initial tab on the spreadsheet) which I need to read to determine if I should download the entire file to my mobile device for immediate action or if it can wait until I am back in the office.
Is there a way to associate an alternative application (eg Planmaker and Textmaker) other than Pocket Word/Excel to handle attachements in the windows mobile e-Mail Client?
I have asked this of the Softmaker Office Support team but they were unable to provide a solution.
Hope I have explained my issue appropraitly, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

No one with any ideas?
Hi,
Couple of things....
[Rant]
It's Bill's fault!
Active sync deletes calender entries from PC if they've been deleted from the phone, despite been set to update phone from pc if dispute????
Mobile Office is incompatible with standard office!
I bought a WM device so I could use documents from either on either!
A customer sends a price list in xlsx format and the phone doesn't recognise it!
Simple things two windows machines should be able to do and they can't get it together!
Bill's name remains mud! [/Rant]
I don't suppose anyone ones of ways to sort this out without reformatting files?
Cheers,
Gavin
Office Mobile Beta 2010
Did you try using Office Mobile 2010 Beta.. Its available in Microsoft Market for free..
see the problem there is that you deleting something from the phone doesn't cause a dispute because the log will show that it was specifically deleted.
disputes are more along the line of editing the pc version and then editing the mobile version differently.in such a case active sync would overwrite the mobile version. not how you WANT it too work, but not technically a fault.
as for the file types....I have office 2004 and that doesn't support xlsx... unfortunately that doesn't count as a fault so I don't get a free upgrade.
Tweek - Get your client to send in normal, standard xls format that a half dozen different programs can understand.
Hi,
I guess it's true what you're saying, but the latest Mobile office shouldn't have a problem with Office 2007 files.
There's a free update patch for the older versions of office from MS, I did my laptop last week
Pity there's not one for Mobile Office!
Cheers,
Gavin
Mobile Office can handle Office 2007 files without problem. However, not all features are supported. It is documented on the MS site. Yes, you need to be careful when you carry a document over different platforms.
Hey guys
I'm an entrepreneur from Brisbane, Australia. I'm looking into introducing a new product and am wondering if you guys would be able to help me clarify a few questions. I have to add I have no idea what so ever about programming languages or whats possible or not. I just going to post my vision of the application I will need and hope some of you guys can tell me what of that will be possible, what not and how much effort / money it would take to realise.
Firstly of all and most importantly I need the the Phone application to work with several other systems which would be at the moment : - Iphone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry Android, a Website interface, Windows Vista / 7 and Mac OS. I need this to work in two ways. One for the user to sync their data on different apps and secondly for the admin to receive and send data from the main system (that would be working on Windows or Mac)
On first interface the user would have to log in with a username and password, high security would be welcome, after the log in the general interface should be offering the user a booking request form with the ability to use a saved lists of items which have been previously use / prepared but also a interface for add one or editing
It also should offer a open bookings lists and the ability to edit this lists. This should also be able to be synced to the other systems. A third interface showing a history and updates should be also available.
If possible it should offer different accounts and groups where admins can edit the bookings of other users. If this is possible it also should offer a control for the admins which shows bookings and history of other group users.
I would like this obviously to be a professional looking app which offers a good service and is secure and bug free. If anyone has an idea if this is realisable or what parts of it would be difficult or have to be changed please do me the favour and comment.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Hello,
If you're looking for developers for your project, please contact [email protected]
Example of similar (ok, a bit different but technical approach is the same) web app and mobile clients for several smartphone platforms is in my signature.
Can anyone tell me if WP7.5 shows contacts in the same way you have them saved in outlook - i.e uses the 'File As' box on outlook contacts.
I have almost 2000 business contacts and using Windows Mobile 6.5 works for me. I know Android and IOS don't do it but no idea on WP7.5
Or is there an app of some description to do it.
I need it to show Company Name (First Name, Surname) ??
Also as a side does smart dialing work - i.e. dialing any part of a contacts name or phone number narrows down the choice of contacts.
Thanks
in my brief encounter i didnt see any option for filing by company name but i could be wrong.
i really think of windows PHONE 7 as just that, i.e. a phone, not anything smart or as a pda organizer.
sure, you can synchronise your photos, music and videos (in very limited formats) but try transfering real files or data. and dont get me started about sms
smart dialing worked ok.
