Samsung_mobiles twittered some News to the relasedate of froyo for the sgs. If this i posteted elsewhre please delete.
"Samsung_Mobiles
All our users who are waiting for froyo , please note that froyo is expected to launch by end of this month. No exact dates are confirmed."

The tweet is quite clear yes. However Samsung_Mobiles is not a verified twitter account so there's no telling if they are indeed Samsung India or just some random account so be careful with accepting those claims as absolute truth.

Sorry didnt know and havent looked that Samsung_mobiles is not verified. But youre right, and before there will be great discussions.. Please close this thread, dear mods.
well i do not believe on any news now..samsung has been known for its customer annoyance syndrome regarding updates for long. better try cutom roms.. coz they r big time liars.. dt b surprised if they say "end of november" at end of october...like before
Oh stop whining, it took HTC 9 (!) months to give their early Hero customers an upgrade from 1.5 to 2.1. The Galaxy S got released with 2.1 and it's not even been on the market for half a year and they're obviously very busy working on an update.

Ah, because HTC was slow to update Hero we must shut up our mouths?
Samsung's promise is worth nothing. Froyo is when we see it.
I would like to nag but why should I? Rather let them take some time to polish it up a bit since this will be the last official update available for our phone (damn)
So please just take it as a man, say; "oh i can wait a couple of weeks more" cos by the end of October you'll receive a new phone, eventhough we're tricked with merely new software
meanwhile, kinda happy with the unofficial froyo =/
No companies promises are worth anything generally..
Originally Samsung said that Froyo update will be available THIS YEAR.
Not end of september/october/november.
I do have official Froyo update (it's a jp3 version but I still got it at the official service) and still waiting for the final release via Kies.
So as far as I'm concerned, Samsung kept their promise. No complaints from me.

There's so many roms out there from multiple developers that I think froyo can wait and bring out a polished 2.2

And for Froyo

And in Smsung Spain Facebook page they promised an update for September.
There's nothing official about statements on Twitter or Facebook as long as there's no press release to accompany them.
There's a crapload of work that goes into managing a ROM release cycle and decently testing every update, something they might be inclined to do better this time after all the trouble they got from the original release.
Besides, it says 'Expected', not "Will be released on $date and you can quote us on it".

Samsung Galaxy S Android 2.2 FroYo upgrade launched
Posted by Luke Johnson on Fri 5 Nov 2010
Android 2.2 update to finally hit the Samsung Galaxy S
After months of waiting owners of the formidable Samsung Galaxy S Android handset will today be able to update their devices to run the latest incarnation of the Google mobile OS, Android 2.2, FroYo.
The flagship Samsung handset became a major player in the smartphone market following its launch back in July but has remained devoid of the OS upgrade despite FroYo landing on a number of its closest competitors.

“Froyo starts rolling out today; everyone will have it by the end of Nov. To prepare, get the latest version of Kies.” announced Samsung UK via its official Twitter feed earlier today. Kies is Samsung’s proprietary upgrading solution needed to update the handset’s software.
The 4-inch mobile powerhouse will add a host of new features to its already hefty arsenal with the upgrade to Android version 2.2 including the coveted full Flash support and device tethering. Google Maps GPS navigation and voice guidance will also land on the 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera touting iPhone challenger.
Elsewhere in the land of Google mobile operating system, the imminent arrival of version 2.3 of the hugely popular software, dubbed Gingerbread, appears closer than ever as latest reports and rumours peg the Android update to make its way to developers in SDK form as early as next week, November 11th.
Have you got a Samsung Galaxy S that is in need of a FroYo boost? Share your thoughts on the Galaxy bound Android update with us via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds and stay tuned to T3.com for all the latest on the Gingerbread arrival.
Let me spare you the torrent of flaming you will get.
That does NOT apply to the US Vibrant, it is for the UK market. Yes, it means that we will eventually get it, probably by the end of the year.
There's already like 3 threads about it, plus this is not for US.

why do people keep going into threads to post complaints? Don't you know it keeps the thread alive? Or is it ok as long as you have a first 5 post flaming the OP?
All you want to be mods please go hide in whatever corner you came from. Let real mods do the work. Posting "Please lock his thread" doesn't actually lock the thread.
Also the OP NEVER said we are now getting it on our vibrants. He just posted a story...
Back to topic. Was it EVER said anywhere that the US Galaxy S series would get froyo? I know this was assumed because Samsung said the Galaxy S would get it, but I wouldn't doubt them changing their tune now.

Well that's just practical, it gets really cold outside sometimes.
Isn't it a news of some interest for us Vibrant owners that UK is getting Froyo for Galaxy S? Sure it is....that is because Vibrant is a Samsung Galaxy S series phone and an official roll out in UK means Samsung has Froyo working well for Galaxy S phones at this time and it means US is going to get Froyo soon.
OP didnt say Vibrant is getting Froyo on so and so date, like a bunch of BS threads in the past.
It’s been confirmed that Samsung’s pushing out the upgrade to Android 2.2 to their Galaxy S and Galaxy A in their home turf of South Korea right now. (It wasn’t said if this included the carrier-specific offerings, so we’ll assume that those are excluded, for now.) Those on Vodafone may also be seeing the upgrade to Android 2.2 very soon as they’ve started pushing their specific upgrade out to their customers. This follows the widescale European rollout for unbranded/carrier-agnostic Galaxy S devices not too long ago. Be on the lookout for these upgrades and let out a big sigh of relief after you’ve received them. Then let’s hope Samsung gets things rolling a bit quicker for the impending Gingerbread release. I won't flame. the article states that it "should" be compatible with all SGS phones. I don't know, it's been such a ordeal with Samsung/Tmo dragging their feet. Yes, this is better than "this guy i know who knows a guy said we were getting it on xxx" but it still doesn't give us a set date. This just says that SGS phones will get it, very vague with Vibrant/Fascinate/Epic/Captivate phones. We'll see I g uess.
I was going to head over to PinkBerry around 7, but I guess I can wait until 8.
Wait, what's all this phone talk about?
I guess their timezones are off by a few weeks, I am running Froyo for at least a week and a half.

An apology for what - all news we were receiving the past months were "unofficial sources" or rumours or "i know i guy who knows a guy who works at S", I never actually read anything official, e.g. on a samsung website.
Even though the news, which was "almost" official (samsung romania facebook), rejected an actual release date at the end of march.
Just stay relaxed, an update will come in a few hours / days / weeks / years
Kind regards,
ww
I don't know why people always think that they deserve an apology from Samsung or that they get bad software support. Does anybody here have a written (or otherwise) guarantee that Sammy is giving us GB at a specific time? I guess not...
I admit that the first Eclair ROMs were crap and the GPS could be better, but seriously stop the whining, it's like talking with little kids that want their candy! Just wait until it's done and if it takes two weeks longer to sort out some bugs, then so be it...
I agree....they should apologize for possibly not living up to "a friend of a friend said" rumors, or for changing their roadmap to suit the pronouncements off the cuff on the facebook page of a regional Samsung distributer in a small market?
Really?
Or because Tricky used what he felt could possibly be the final 2.3.3 (though from user reports if it IS final, to quote Ricky Ricardo, Samsung's got some 'splainin to do) to make a big entry into the ROM Kitchen team?
Somehow I don't think so. No apologies required, from anyone. Just patience.
To be honest, considering no source is released and there seem to be various problems/quirks with JVK, I would prefer they take a couple weeks and give us a much more ready for prime time version.
Relax, Gingerbread is coming...just be patient and enjoy your 2.2.1 Custom ROMs and be grateful again you aren't stuck with just a single flavor of iOS.
Since I'm a new user and I cant post links, I'm just going to quote. Finnish branch of Samsung has announced a press release a few hours ago through a publishing company:
Translated in Google Translate said:

Maybe because it looks like JVK is not the final release version and still has some bugs?.
The thing with these web blogs and tech news pages is they all tend to get their "exclusive" news from the same sources which 9 out of 10 times are wrong. Case in point recent news quoting Samsung Mobile Facebook page which wasn't as it was the SamsungGalaxyS Facebook page which looked remarkably similar until you read the owner info. Something you would think they would check first really. Egg face say no more.

I can't see why people can't use their time anticipating the new release. It's not your time, obviously. Some people want to flash their phone with a safe, official firmware and want to know some ETA when it's going to happen. It's not like people are F5'ing every Android news site. Of course, this can hold but can't there be any speculation? It's up to XDA's moderators to decide, is this topic worth of discussing.
What comes to the first post, this is good news (if true) and in my opinion most reliable newsbit so far about Gingerbread. You shouldn't take it for granted that Samsung is liable to update its firmwares and "breaks promises" if doesn't. Operating as a company, Samsung's every firmware update is giving something to us, the customers. When people buy their phones, Samsung's is not liable to update firmwares if there's nothing critically wrong with it. Froyo is good but now we are on the road towards something even better. And it's a win-win situation to us.

I think even mid April is a tad optimistic. That's like 2 weeks.. and there's quite a bit left to fix and add. Together with the speed of which samsung works, I'm guessing May at the earliest.

That references the Techcrunch photo of a "leaked memo", not anything official that would be a "promise" from B&N nor any promotional materials. If you have ever worked for a big company you know that lots of ideas get floated around and taken to different stages of completion for discussion and approval. If the photo is real it could have been a draft someone prepared for a project proposal that never took off or got canned along the way. Or it could be fake. Some poeple do like to feed BS to the media. In any event there was no official B&N announcement therefore no promise to deliver any newer firmware by B&N.
Mark Twain said something like "If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper you are misinformed." It applies just as well to modern digital media outlets. Don't believe rumors published in the media.
