Well I just recently made the jump to Gingerbread and was really enjoying the little perk of the CRT screen animation.
Just lately though, I noticed that it had disappeared.
As well, I've been noticing that my phone does not automatically turn off when I put it up to my ear.
My first 4.5.91 flash I feel that I botched:
I had flashed Nottach's Darkside ROM (v1.3) and his Evoluer theme (v1.0) and I was trying to set up some of Droid Shogun's SwitchPro widgets and messed with a screen auto-off widget. I thought this was what caused the problem in the first flash and I eventually ended up wiping my phone (much deeper than I kinda planned, too).
I reflashed Darkside and Evoluer again and the problem reappeared. Though I remember testing the CRT & auto-off before I flashed the theme.
I just now flashed Nottach's uninstaller (found in the Evoluer thread) and it brought me back to the stock AT&T theme (no Darkside theming), but that did not solve the problem either (bring back CRT & auto off).
I'm asking a couple of questions here:
1) Is this a known problem? The animation and or Auto-off disappearing for some reason, whether it's theme flashing, flashing that particular theme (Evoluer), or something else (kernel problem, etc...)?
2) Is there something I could have done that is easily reversible (something I ticked/unticked in settings?). I will also add that I always do a little Spare Parts tinkering when first setting up my phone. Could that have altered anything?
3) What are my solutions? I could always reflash, but that is a true PITA. Help, please?
Thanks for any advice or input you guys have to offer. Also, please let me know if there's anything more I can divulge that would help in your diagnosis.
At this point,
In spare parts you most likely ticked faster window animations....put that to normal and crt anim should be back....uh not sure bout your proximity problem.

Haha no problem man I had the same issue when I first used spare parts I noticed the crt went away but glad it fixed all your issues posted.

Me too bro.
Just out of curiosity, you didn't run into any other problem with spare parts, did you? I'm just kind of at a loss as to how it messed with the screen proximity off and want to make sure there aren't any other seemingly unrelated things it could break.
Also, where did you get yours? Is the Market version still being updated? I just want to make sure mine is up to date.

I'm using kens Alien ROM, its pre loaded. And no not really any problems. I Use it for compatibility mode and faster transitions, other than that I don't open it at all. I don't remember it messing with the sensor like that, I might have not noticed tho I didn't leave the fast window animations on for very long, but not so sure why it would bug out like that. Spare Parts shouldn't cause any other problems tho.

anyways to the OP no current 2.1 is fully functional without issues. use a 1.5 if you want that, i recommend pancake without sense.
if you want a fully working 2.1 rom wait until the devs get their hands on the final build released from sprint hopefully this month?

Cool, thanks I am running fresh2.0d and I like this rom but the trackball light and the sound issue concerns me, because I dont know if it is fixed. I downloaded the fix but last night I got no sound again after I changed my autokiller setting,so I changed It back and it has been ringing all day, so I dont know if it is really fixed.....

Fresh 2.0d has lwp (they don't work in Sense, but that is a problem with Sense), it has the trackball fixed, though all the button lights have some weird glitch, you'd have to try it to see it, but at least the trackball is in sync with those buttons. It also has all the sound working as well. I highly recommend it. I've been using it since it came out and I'd say its 100% functional with virtually no issues.
On RegawMOD 2.0.2p, I have LWP running and sticking with the regular Home, not sense, but they do stick. you need the 2 apks for it though.

I don't think it is. People have gone 20+ hours just to have the problem happen again. the fix seems to stave it off temporarily but as I have found, it seems to come back sooner or later. Oddly enough, some people just don't seem to have the bug at all. It is an issue in the audio driver of the kernel though, it is there in everyones phone. Just haven't figured out what causes the bug to surface in some peoples phones but not others.
So is there a new update because I have fresh 2.0 and the trackball did work until I dounloaded the sound fix and the trackball light went away...
So it still has the 7 screens or is it the one screen?

My hero makes lots of sounds. LWP = Live Wallpaper
Every so often with 2.1 fresh my phone has no speaker sound in or out unlees you reboot the phone and lwp is live wallpapers.....
Hey guys,
Just curious what your thoughts were on changing the ROM from the original one on the phone to Epic, (whatever the newest one is I think it's 2.5 somebody correct me if it isn't). So I guess if you've done this what are the most noticable changes and is it worth the time it takes to do this.

I'm really enjoying the epic 2.5 rom. I liked the phone stock but I found it to hang up quite a bit, blur seemed a little power hungry, and there were some apps installed that I did NOT want that constantly bugged me (city ID!). I switched to epic and my phone seems much much more responsive and my batter life seems mildly improved, by about roughly 10%. I'll more than likely continue to use epic until the bootloader gets cracked and we get something like cyanogen on the D2
I also use epic 2.5 and it sometimes randomly reboots, but otherwise its amazing. Battery life is great!

what's your battery life like? because that's my main problem with my d2 since i text quite frequently and that seems to drain the battery like no other.

If you are looking for a rom with little to no Blur left, try installing Motoboy's R2D2 SuperClean. It doesn't have all the Star Wars stuff and you are left with a solid system. I experienced a few bugs that were show stoppers on Epic 2.5. Those being the slide to unlock reboots, and the calendar not allowing me to add events. Matt has posted a fix for the calendar, but as of yet nothing stops the unlock reboots. Personally I find both of the roms to be better than what was shipped with the device. Ultimately which rom to flash should be your decision not someone else's.

Read the instructions carefully, then read them again. This is a slightly tougher install than Epic.

Well I'm a new Droid 2 user. I had the original D1 and just got the D2 about a week ago. Epic was the first rom I downloaded and I like it a lot it reminds me of my D1 roms I had installed. It's pretty fast and hardly lags. I had a few problems at first. My phone rebooted randomly about twice and I'm not sure if this was a problem for everyone or if I just had a corrupt file installed, but whenever I would use titanium backup my messaging app stopped working. It really pissed me off because my messages still worked, but I couldn't see them. It kept force closing, but eventually it started to work. I'm enjoying this rom so far.
EDIT: I'm having the lock reboot problem now, it has happened maybe four or 5 times and it has been getting annoying lol. I haven't really looked for a fix, but I will be soon.
The lock screen reboots are a known bug in Epic 2.5 but I'm back with epic after tweaking R2D2 too much and I haven't had a problem after installing lock screen on/off widget and setting it off.

Slide to unlock from screen off. If lockscreen is disabled it doesn't do the reboots.

Yeah I've heard that people without a slide-to-unlock feature are fine, but people like me that HAVE to have a lockscreen, are expeirencing problems. It has happened to me a couple times already

Maybe you could disable the slide lock screen and put a pattern lock on. I don't know if the widget will disable the pattern or the pattern will make a reboot but it's worth a shot.

Yeah I heard that's a solution people use, but I am too hard headed to do that lol, I like the old school lock screen too much

Actually those might not help. I forgot that I've been plugging my phone into the pc and out throughout the day.
Typed by Z using the Gingerbread keyboard.
Just change the filter to total since boot rather than unplugged. Sensor usage depends on how you use the phone as well not the same for everyone. If you're on the interwebs or youtube and rotating alot or using the phone the sensor for when to dim the screen, it will be much higher

ok guys need info. i rooted my evo and all was good!!! was out side talking and battery went dead plugged it in and screen would not come on after playing with it screen would come on vary light or with lines in it. battery said it was at full charge i left it over night and turned it on and worked but light screen and some line after about 5 min it stayed on. did a few bench mark test nothing showing up and i unrooted last night blind i could not see screen but hopped it worked lol i got it right

Like what rom you were on? Were you using a kernel? Most importantly though, what it is that you're trying to accomplish.

It could be an overheating issue or a man. defect. Is it still doing this on the stock rom ?
yeah but i cant get it to do it on que i have a e ticket for sprint but if i cant make it do it they wont fix it
Well, do you have TEP? If they won't fix it then that's going to be your best bet. Right now Sprint is letting anybody enroll. I don't know if that's a permanent thing or if it's just temporary. It's $8 a month for TEP. It's only like $100 to get a replacement and it will be much quicker than fighting with Sprint to get them to fix it. If it's a spotty problem you'll be fighting for a while.

He knew I didn't mean it in an insulting way. I don't believe that this contributes to anything. So why don't you keep your mouth shut unless you're trying to help.
Shot in the dark but sometimes leaveing the battery out for extended periods of time resets/changes behavior I would try leaving it out for full day and seeing what happens maybe you will get it to do lines or somethin worth a shot before ya give em money

First poster here so I'm unable to post to the proper area...but I noticed the time on the lockscreen freezes at whatever time you disconnect from chargeing.
Also, I noticed a big difference on how pictures look with 4.1 vs 4.0...seems to be much more color seperation...especially with the grayscale. I have seen this issue recently with the nexus s's latest ota update. If someone else noticed this, please confirm.
Other than these two issues it seems to be a good release. Thank you for your hard work.
If someone could please relay this info to the correct thread it would be great. Thanks.

I'm glad the clock issue went away after a reflash. Was what I would have suggested. I guess my eyes just aren't that picky when it comes to the variations in colors, as I haven't noticed any difference in the pics i have. I also use quickpic instead of the default gallery, so that might have something to do with it as well. Any other issues you've run into, just post back and we'll see if we can replicate em.

+1 to the QuickPic suggestion. I didn't have the issue with the Gallery some other did, but I changed anyway, and am glad I did.
Wanted to say thanks on the suggestion of quickpix. However the bug remains an issue for the sake of the devs knowledge.
