hey everyone, i feel like a noob asking this, but I have been away from the G1 for a while. I got an offer on it now and they need it to work on AT&T. I have cm5 on there now. how can i test if its unlocked for use on att and if its not, how can i unlock it.

Stick a non-Tmobile sim card in it. If it works it is unlocked. If not, call Tmobile and ask for an unlock code.
haha is that really the only way to test?
Hey guys, so I bought a brand new S4 from walmart the other day, they guys said it was unlocked and my telus sim worked like a charm but when I put it a mobilicity sim it said that it was invalid and asked for an unlock code. Now I know that mobilicity uses AWS etc etc but from what I've heard it should work just that the network would be crappy, but for me it doesn't work at all, my phone rejects the sim. I tried the tutorial posted in this section on unlocking the AWS band but with no success. I'm trying to get this to work for my girlfriend's upcoming birthday so any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
As far as I know, Walmart does not sell an unlocked Galaxy S4 and neither does any retail store in Canada besides online shops.
Since your phone is requesting an unlock code, you have two options.
Either use the free unlock method posted here on the forums or purchase a code online.
Regarding the AWS frequency unlock for your phone, I believe one of the prerequisites is an unlocked phone in order for it too work.

Just to clarify, you are mixing terminology:
Unlocked phone - you can use "any" SIM, but you may not get 3G or 4G speed on all carriers due to frequencies - in the USA, I can unlock my AT&T phone to take a T-mo SIM, but it will not get the faster speeds of T-MO
AWS unlock - unlock the phones radio to support additional frequencies. After unlocking the phone to support a T-mo SIM, I can unlock the AWS bands to allow for faster speeds when using a T-mo SIM.
What did you pay for the phone? If it was full price (about $600) then it is possible you could have bought (or paid for) an unlocked phone. If it was a $200 phone, then it is guaranteed to be locked to a particular carrier.

He mentioned that it was a Canadian phone in his post. He said his Telus SIM which came with it worked in it and Telus is a Canadian carrier.

New HTC Trophy – 16GB – Black (Verizon) PagePlus 3G Windows Smartphone
my doubt is, whether i’ll be able to use it in India using any SIM. Can anybody explain me what this (Verizon) PagePlus exactly is, the listing says No Contract required, does it mean that any sim can be used in it?..,if not, is there any unlock procedure for it.

Usually US prepaid phones will be SIM locked to the carrier it was shipped with. You will have to call pageplus about unlocking the SIM.
Hello everyone. Hope that this isnt violating any forum rules or such, but I would like to unlock the SIM on my phone to use a different carrier. I have Tmobile and was wanting to switch to a prepaid carrier like StraightTalk or something. Thanks for the help.

Ok so I just recently moved from the states to Canada. I was on AT&T network. It would cost me a arm and a leg to use the phone up here so I went and got a pre-paid SIM from Fido (GSM Canadian provider) loaded for a prepaid plan. my phone is outside its contract date so I submitted my AT&T unlock request got it back inserted the new SIM, then tried unlocking it. says it was unsuccessful. called AT&T and Fido multiple times trying to figure it out.after reaching advanced tech support on AT&T side the only thing they could think was it was I have ROMED and rooted my phone. I have cm11 straight from there site on my phone. could this cause an issue? I can post screenshots if needed I really hope someone can help me really need a working device.
