My Girlfriend has this phone and tells me that it freezes, Randomly reboots, and is slow. What are someways i can tell her to fix this/ speed it up more?
Does she have 2.2? From what you are saying sounds like it. Ever since upgrading, my phone does 2 of those things. I think it runs faster than 2.1 tho. I recommend to help it run faster to root it and download link2sd and link every app you can. That will free up space and should help with running faster.

Ok. Well even on 2.1, your best option with the limited space Motorola gave us is to root then link. Rooting you can also free up a little bit of internal space by getting rid of atts bloat. Hth

You mean its looping? If its just that it goes from the M to rethink possible, then loads, thats what it should be doing. If its looping, then something went wrong with the update. Which method did she use to update?
Never mind, we found out about motorolas offical flipside update they released via their site and we put that on her phone. It wouldn't go past the splash screen but I fixed her phone and it us faster and working now

Later this month sounds about right. The G2 was released. If T-Mobile gave us froyo before the g2 was released then people who have the Slide won't get the g2. Its all about marketing. The only thing is, why would a rep tell you that before that information is even released to Engadget, etc. (no offense)

I would think they want as much people who have the slide to simply just run impatient and switch over to the g2. Marketing! I don't think the reps get news before us. They're not the major players (no offense to any reps who are reading). I think they get the news the same time as us or at least a day or 2 before us, but then again I could be wrong.

You can root and then simply unroot to get your warranty back, but I don't suggest you root. Its not easy to root the slide, also alot of people who root the slide switch back to stock because they realize that not everything works with a flashed rom.

I'm running the stock rom just that it's rooted so that I can install & run the wireless tether apk. The stock rom that comes with the phone suits my needs. I've been using CR_MOD for a month and I like it. Everything work + a2sd + wireless tether. I can even flash live wallpaper and use it with ADW. I can even remove the built-in swype and install another version of swype which support more languages. I'm really satisfied with this rom.

I do not mean to be rude, but this has been discussed before. According to Adobe our phone's processor lacks the mhz to run flash smoothly. I honestly think with Froyo 2.2 our phone should be able to handle flash 10.1, but that's just my opinion. Who knows, Adobe might surprise us and give us flash anyway.

Flash lite, not full Flash 10.1
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Actually... if you google "flash 10.1 eclair 2.1" you get a guide as your first result on how you can get full flash on any 2.1 rom... sorry people who are running 2.2 but it only works if you have some sort of flash lite on the phone... as long as im aware... all 2.2 roms are based from source... which does not include any form of flash lite... basically, what it does is upgrade you flash lite to flash 10.1... it works perfectly for mee... i tried running it at 600 mhz... it ran too choppy... i would recommend using dumfuqs overclocked kernels to about 868 mhz... which is what im running... and it runs really smooth...

You may have read that, but it is not true. There is a lot of effort involved in porting a user interface line Motrblur or Sense from one platform to another. In most cases the UI is not open source and without the source code it is very complicated and some times impossible.
ok thank you thats the type of advice i need.. cause just need to figure out the specs and if its even possible....
i just read all the specs on the motorola back flip and they are practically the same as the aria the just a slower processor ..... n the led flash..
like tpbklake just said... Motoblur sits on top of android and it is most likely not open source, and will be difficult (near impossible?) to port over. I'm no expert, but in any situation the specs really shouldn't matter. FYI (for your information) you can get a backflip on ebay for under $100 if youre that desperate to have motoblur.

Now, THIS phone has nearly identical specs to the Aria. I'd try to find a ROM from this and go from there. If you're brave enough, flash it! But I'd recommend rooting your phone and having clockword mod installed with a working nandroid backup first.

ok thanks for ur help i will try to flash some roms today and give a respond as to how it goes with the name and download links of whateva roms i try...
This is just my opinion, but if you have an Aria now, I wouldn't even bother with MotoBlur. The user integration is hands down rather horrible. Plus, like many said in here, integrating that into a rom for this phone would be a dev nightmare.
MotoBlur is a custom skin by Motorola, and the source is probably locked down! It would take a lot of time...

The aria doesn't have the hardware to utilize Flash Player.
It's Flash Lite.

OK, so I just installed it and it worked like a charm! It runs beautifully and it is quite a bit more responsive in my opinion. I'm going to begin testing everything I can. Running the hell out of it lol.
EDIT: OK, so far I have only one complaint. The hard buttons at the bottom of the phone are now insanely bright. It isn't a serious problem, but it is definitely a significant difference that I would like to see options for.
The buttons have been overly bright on all of the Gingerbread leaks, and unfortunately they still don't work quite right, even on the OTA version. They turn off and never come back on. That's my only complaint about Gingerbread. Other than that, it's fast, smooth, and looks great. I looked at an Xperia Play today with more or less stock Gingerbread, and I have to say, it was kind of ugly compared to Gingerblur, in my opinion.
Gingerbread
So far it hasn't been too bad, but I am waiting on a ROM based off of .596.
Anyone have a link to this that is not downloading at like 10KBps or have the direct google server address? If I can ever get this stupid thing to finish downloading I am thinking of mirroring it on something that doesn't the stupid ad-bloated crap. Just going to throw it up on a directory on my web server.
OK finally got it downloaded will install it and see how it runs a bit before uploading the image.
I updated my droid x to the stock version of gingerbread last night. With the exception of a few totally unrelated incidents, it seems to be working great. Gingerbread seems to be snappy and the new ui tweaks are mostly welcome. I have not noticed a big difference between 595 & 596. Thanks to black hat team for their hard work.
They got rid of the 'Paste from Clipboard' option ...I used tthat a lot in Froyo. Does anyone know.a way to get that available?
