[Q] Does anyone know how to make custom notification sound work? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im having trouble change ringtones for text messages someone please help

Download ringdroid from the market. It lets you trim any mp3 to whatever you want and convert it to ringtone.
Then go to your messeges app, settings/notifications/notification sound. This assuming you're talking about the messeging system that comes with the phone.

Create a folder on the SD called media. Inside that one put another called audio. Then inside audio, make 3 new folders named alarms, notifications, ringtones. Then move/copy the mp3s you want to use into the relevant folders.

[Q] Custom Ringtones

I downloaded a song from myxer but I can't figure out how to set it as a ringtone

Go into the music player, open the song, press menu, set as ringtone. If you want to set it as a text ringtone or voicemail ringtone, download Ringdroid from the market.
Thanks bud

[Q] Individual contact ringtone control

I need to be able to set certain individual phone numbers to silent when they ring. Any apps that can do that?

All you need to do is download a silent ringtone or mp3. Then go into your address book, select the person you want to have the silent ringtone, and select the silent mp3 for that person. If you need step by step instructions and a silent mp3 let me know and I'll send it to you.

Set a specific notification tone?

I'm running Cyanogenmod, and I was wondering, how can you set a specific notification text-tone for a contact. I can do it for ringtones but not notification tones. Is there a way?

You can dump mp3s to sdcard/notification folder, then change notification sound as usual.
My text app has a way to use a separate alert tone, other than what the system has set. Some apps allow a different tone for different contacts, but I don't go that far. If you don't have any you like, any MP3 will work or you can use Zedge from the playstore and search for text tones or SMS tones.
I installed this app which allows you to set custom wav/mp3 as notifications and ringtones. Really simplifies the process (has worked on S4/HTC M9 and now 6P.

How do you find the file folders to move it add the files? I'm kind of a tech dummy... Do I need to download a file manager app, or am II just to dumb to find one already on the phone? Lol!
