My continuum is softbricked. Every time i turn it on it hangs at "Samsung". However I am able to get into Download Mode and Recovery Mode but i cant get into Clockwork Recovery. Ive read through most of the threads in this forum and from what i understand there are a couple of methods of returning my phone to normal and i was wondering what is the best method of unbricking my phone. Thanks in advance!
you need to use odin and flash the stock d17 image and thatll restore it to stock
so theoretically once i did this and unrooted, i could send this back to verizion?
yes they wouldnt know the difference.

Ok, i realize i have a different phone from this thread but it is close and my problems closely reflect the issues ive seen with the Galaxy S.
A little background. Im no perfect i know what im doing when it comes to rooting. I have an HTC Tbolt and rooted many of those, an older touch pro 2, and this is first time doing a samsung. I am getting the hang of ODIN (i wish everyone would just use this program instead of bouncing back and forth between heimdall and ODIn but whatever) Im liking ODIN cause it works well. I was successful at flashing a new rom into this Samsung phone. 95% of it worked, wifi i think didnt but everything else worked. While trying to fix the phones wifi somehow i have stopped the phone from booting into CMW recovery unless forced or booting into a rom. I can get into CMW but i must hold down the Vol Down button to get there, otherwise a clean basic boot takes me to the stock android system recovery screen and will not boot a rom.
I have something backwards or out of order. I am just trying to get the rom to identify the installed CMW and the installed ROM through CMW but it wont do it.
Any help would be appreciated, i dont want my GF to find out i jacked her phone lol
Which phone do you have? SGS? I can just talk about SGS+ but I guess its similiar.
Try to install CWM with Odin, normally it should replace the stock recovery (haven't heard of both running at once).
Once you have installed CWM you can install your custom ROM with CWM (look at the install instructions).
If you want to install stock ROM with Odin it will replace your CWM with stock Recovery.
Post the link of the thread/recovery you want to flash.

Its a stratosphere. Im using the root and / or stock files in the root method. I use ODIN to flash the StratCWMRecovery.tar.md5 and if i tick "reboot" then it reboots into CWM i install a rom or stock rom and it finishes. I reboot the phone and it instantly goes back to android system recovery. If you like ill make a short video to give you an idea of whats going on.
I will note that im close to making a jig but its not 100% bricked obviously. 3 button method still works (and unecessary at this point since all the phone does is go straight into the stock bootloader) and then after i install CWM i can force it in to CWM but it wont actualy boot into it.
From a programing standpoint i feel the pointers or partitions are incorrect. Its like booting a computer that has a hard drive with windows installed however getting the bios to tell it to boot from the hard drive isnt working. THats the easiest way to explain this.
One thing i want to note is the only errors i am getting are when i try to partition the SD card from CWM. I get an error saying sdparted is not found.
I am not getting a full understanding of how the root system works on this phone.
Again any help is appreciated.
Made a short video. Its uploading now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFZ5Adm5AdQ
So whatever i did i was able to fix. I think me being a very visual person and normally having access to all files i need or could use in a situation is always nice. Here, i didnt but i found them. Here's the link. Its obviously for stratosphere but i took about 10 minutes and let ODIN install all these files and it worked.
original posting but the link doesnt work for download

where i downloaded it

Again this is for stratosphere. Since it really helped me return to stock and allow me to re root in about 15 minutes this thread should be moved but there is no stratosphere area
So im pretty sure my phone is soft bricked when i tried to flash a rom, all i can do is put it in the download mode, and the screen is on but just barely you can't really even tell. So im stuck here, i saw that the one click unbrick is for samsung phones. And does this mean that i have to return to stock, and will it mean that i will also be unrooted as well? Has anyone unbricked their device successfully? Any advice is appreciated. I really need to fix my phone quickly.

Just flash it back to stock and start over.
Long story short: My Verizon G2 appears to not have a ROM on it. I tried flashing a custom ROM, that didn't work, had to troubleshoot. During troubleshooting, I wiped everything in TWRP, which, looking back on it was probably a mistake (I'm new at this). The phone still didn't boot right so I went into download mode and used LG Flash Tool to flash the stock ROM to the phone. Something went wrong and now I can't get into download mode, and it appears that TWRP was wiped from the phone because I can only do a factory reset, which doesn't do anything. No matter what I do, I'm still stuck at the LG logo. Is there any hope for me?
go for this guide until you get what you want, it is impossible to get twrp without booting rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
if not, you gotta to send it back to verizon i guess ;/

Thanks, but both those methods require getting into download mode, which I cannot do. Should I send it in through verizon, or send it to LG directly? It still says rooted when I try to do a hard reset, so do you think they'll still fix it?
I got a bootloop after flashing a recovery, it would it bootloop at the and flash the recovery splash screen.
I can't boot into the phone
Which method do I use to switch recoveries?
This G2 is my pride and joy, and I am panicking quite a bit :/
I have additional info on the last post here V

To whoever finds me the solution, I will buy you a lunch!!
Hello. The only way of switching recoveries when you can't access your current custom recovery is by going back to stock using the "how to go back to stock" method that's stickied in the G2 General section.
Make sure you download the right firmware for your device, that you have the right drivers installed and that your phone (and computer is charged).
Everything else you might need can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
So I'm no stranger to rooting and flashing roms but I messed up big this time. I have a sch-r970 with stock rom and twrp recovery. I attempted to flash a rom. Can't remember the name but the end goal was to get xposed on it. I made a back up then did what I thought was a factory reset. It went downhill from there. I ended up completely wiping the phone. I didn't realize until I couldn't find the rom and rebooted thinking I'll be fine. Well I got the warning that "no OS is installed continue?". I did and now it won't even load twrp. Only download and emergency mode. How screwed am I?
Not very. As long as you can get into download mode you can restore your phone to operating condition. Download the stock ROM for your device from Sammobile and install it using Odin.
Sorry. I should've elaborated more. I downloaded a stock rom and attempted the odin method. It recognized the device but when I started the process it failed. I attempted it via kies as well and it wouldn't connect to my phone. The only thing I haven't tried it an adb push. Unless I'm using the software wrong... Toss me a life jacket plz
Nvm. Just tried a couple different roms. Apparently odin didn't want to flash a couple and it got me worried. Thx for the help.
Glad you were able to resolve things.
