When I connect my via USB cable to my home PC it let's me sync music to my phone but the albums don't show up in the music player on the phone, instead they're put into my Astro file manager app. Now is this because the music I ripped from CD to my PC are reading it as a WMA file and how can I correct this cause the Amazon MP3 app store doesn't have some of the albums I'm trying to load to my phone. Thx in Advance.

Music Player (default one) show your mp3's using ID3 tags not folders. If you put in diferent folders, it doesn't change anything. If your firles have wrong ID3 tag entries, this couse a problem in showing it correctly. This is why some files cannot be sorted by albums, artists.
Try to use AIMP Advanced Tag Editor for Windows to fix/check files tags. Especialy try to fix ID3v2 tak, and copy (using special button) ID3v2 to ID3v1.
Thx for the intel, it's appreciated.

Hi,
how can i put my own image on the music album?
i don't want to use Gracenote.
Thanks

i've had that problem with album arts.....after many programs used i'm now using a program called Mp3Tag Editor.......it's soooo great and you can add the album art of your choice with no complications....you can download it from its site [Sorry, as a new member i'm not allowed to post links to other sites] just search google for [ mp3tag editor ]....
you just need to modify a little bit in the settings......so here is what to do :
after completing installation open the prog --> click on the [Tools] tab and then choose [Options] then modify the [Mpeg] setting just like what you see in the attached image......
have fun adding your album arts to your favorite music...
i hope that will help you......
I use media monkey as it works very similar to itunes, which I'm used to. Can add any artwork to any music files, and you don't even have to resize the artwork first
There are several methods.
You can embed artwork in the music files themselves, using a pc application as described above (Media Monkey, Mp3Tag...).
Or you can simply copy your album cover image to the folder where the music files are and rename it to 'folder.jpg'. This can be done using the phone's own file explorer, so no need for a pc.
Thanks to everyone.
i did it.

I tried the folder.jpg in the same folder as my music file but it didn't work?
I am using the same folder structure as the HTC pre supplied music files and I can view the jpg in the PDA editor
Any ideas? I prefer the simple (less software) approach rather than loading software like mp3tag and mediamonkey etc
I don't remember the folder structure of the pre-supplied music, but my music is arranged like this: "Storage Card\Music\[Artist]\[Album]\". In each folder, I have all the mp3's for that specific album, along with its own "folder.jpg". I assume it's the same in your case.
It could take a while before you actually see it. Try playing each of the album's tracks (just skipping through them should be enough), then load another album, then go back to the first. You should start seeing the folder image this way.
If that doesn't work, you could check the album folder to see if there's a file with a name that starts with "~hTC_". This is the Music Player's own cover image, made from whatever cover you supplied. If such a file already exists, you could try deleting it and then repeat the above steps to force the Player to recreate the cover image.
I have a bunch of audio books I keep in /sdram/abooks and use MortPlayer which can be configured to use any particular directory.
Problem is the music player now lists my audio books. I want the music player to just list my music files (i.e. what I put in /sdram/mp3). I can't seem to find any way to do that?
Is there an alternative app that will do that? (will have to be in the free section of Market as the powers that be prevent us non-americans from searching through paid apps, go figure).

extract the attached file on your pc, then copy the .nomedia file inside the folder to those folders that you don't wish to have them show in either Photo or Music Player...
Hope this helps,
Kiay
Thanks for the suggestion. Creating an empty .nomedia file in a directory seems to stop the media player from looking into this directory for media files. It isn't the best way to do it though, imagine you have to go through this process every time you install software that creates a directory on the sdram card. I can't understand the developers of the media player didn't at least make it an option to limit the search for media to certain directories.
I added the .nomedia file into the desired directories but the unwanted songs are still visible in the native HTC music player.
Is there a way to refresh the track list somehow?
same here, probably we've to restart the phone.
I solved his by connecting the Desire to PC via mass storage and disconnecting again. The SD card got "refreshed" this way
MortPlayer Music (free on Astroid Marked) lets you define a directory for music files.
Can anyone advise me an app just to create a playlist by selecting a folder with music files in it, so that it can be used by the stock music player too (also pls advise where to save/copy the playlist and which format should be used; m3u, pls, or..)
Thx
Is that so hopeless..? Noone replied to my query so far.
Just would like to know if there is a such, simple app for creating playlist based on the folders, and used with built-in music player as well. The stock player can't do that as you know well.

You want to do this right on the device, and not on PC/Mac and then sync/transfer?
try doubletwist on pc/mac if not on computer then im not sure. Mortplayer?? do a search on andlib
i hv found an app, "just playlist", with this you can create playlist for all or just selected contents of a folder (exactly as what I want it to do) but the matter is the playlist file is not seen/found by the music player.

Hi, my vibrant is mainly used for an mp3 player...In music player..I keep seeing EVERY mp3 i have on the phone..I have my music/podcast mp3s, plus my ring tones...is there a way to not have my ring tones (located btw in their OWN directory on the phone [under "[rings] ] keep showing up in my music player??..also I have a lot of podcasts loaded..(again as for everything in their own dedicated directory on the phone (under media/audio)...to be exact...podcasts are under T-Man... (these files have no ID3 tags, so they show up as UNKNOWN...fine...but why can't I change this directory's name and add a thumbnail pic? next I have mixshow mp3's by diff dj's...all in their respective folders.. as an example..1 dj's mp3's I added album art through winamp and saved the id3, copied to phone....nothing...still shows a stock music player img...what am I doing wrong? help me out please ...
PS. Tried Player Pro, which somehow added thumbs to some of my podcasts/mixshows..which had nothing to do with the content...deleted the app, thumbs remained...
Find the folder that's giving you the mp3 and add a dot a the begining, example .test that way the music player won't look in the there to get music

in each folder that is showing up in your music folder add a file .nomedia ...the music player will not scan that folder for music
as far as album art try a app called album art grabber...it's free in the market
Hi all!
I have a question for everyone willing to share their knowledge about this.
Here's the deal. I have about 60 songs directly in Music folder and about a 100 more in folders named after albums. The problem is that about 30 of those 60 songs in Music folder show the same album art which is the album art of one of them. I would like these songs to show their or no album art if you know what I mean.
P.S. That 60 songs are various artist so I don't want to create a folder for each of these.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone?
Anything?
It may be a longshot but if you install the Cubed (just search for 3 in the market) music player and use that you can choose to always use the ID3 art embedded in the MP3 files themselves.
If it still shows up as the same with this option enabled then it might mean your files have actually all got the same artwork attached to them and you'll need to manually change them on your PC.
