anyone have a working wireless (not bluetooth) keyboard that works in recovery mode?
i dont mind at all using a wired keyboard on the A500, but having a wireless keyboard that uses the micro usb dongle would be awesome.
but will it work in Recovery Mode?
most dongles are legacy devices so work no matter what, but some will not.
anyone using a mini keyboard with a micro usb dongle and have it working in recovery and no issues in the OS itself?
I would think that'd work fine. I've tested a number of USB keyboards out and all of them were fine. I also just tested my wireless USB mouse and that worked great.

Hi all,
I'm deciding to buy this or the Transformer. They way I see it, the major selling point of the Iconia is the on-board USB. But how well does it work?
I could not find a simple USB compatibility thread here for the Iconia. If someone could forward it to me, please let me know. If there is no such thread, can anyone answer....In general, are these compatible with Iconia:
USB Hub, unpowered, with keyboard and mouse
USB Hub, powered, with keyboard, mouse, and Hard Drive
Generic USB storage dongles
GSM modem dongles
Card readers.
I can say that the following works just fine on my acer:
- unpowered usb hub with keyboard and mouse
- any brand usb thumb drive or usb hard drive (it can only read fat32 formatted though, unless you root it)
Don't have any experience with card readers or gsm dongles.
I can say for certain that a powered 7 port hub and 7 USB flash drives attached all at once works. The hub was a belkin and the drives were all PNY 4GB. It also "sees" a USB DVD+RW drive, but I didn't have filesystem modules for UDF/ISO so I couldn't mount it.
edit - oh yea, a wireless mouse(Rocketfish) and Razer wired keyboard.
I've tried using a microsoft wireless keyboard 800 through by plugging the dongle into the usb port, unfortunately i cant get it to work. Any advice on this? I'm using it on the a501 with honeycomb 3.0 btw (stock unrooted)

I fiddled around with the keys...it seems the tablet is detecting the physical keyboard because the touchscreen keyboard doesnt automatically launch in documents or other places when required. Unfortunately, the only buttons which seem to be working from my external keyboard are the volume button controls. HELP!!!

USB speakers?
Entirely USB, or just using USB for power and plugging into the audio jack?
I got a set of speakers at work that are entirely USB, and I have to try em with my A500 now!
I've always liked USB. Fiddling with what hardware works or not is part of the fun, for me at least.

I was surprised to see that android had no problem using my sega saturn usb control pad. I posted some videos of it on youtube. My username on youtube is mwales.
Working on A501 running rooted 3.01 HC stock firmware:
Unpowered USB hub
USB flash drives and external hard drives (I use 'drive mount' from market to read NTFS partitions)
Logitech Cordless Desktop MK 250 (keyboard and mouse)
To use a mouse on 3.01 I use the mouse.apk from this post:

My A500 is running HoneyVillan 1.05 with 2.6.36.4HoneyVillan -1.0+ kernel
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15944754&postcount=248 for an explanation on how to get it running and for the module.
Hi guys this site rocks. So here is my problem I am having. I have iconia a500 with 3.2 on it and it works with regular keyboard, mose, and USB. So the problem is I have a gearhead kb5500 wireless keyboard mouse combo 2.4 ghz and when I plugin USB adapter nothing happens. It will not see USB adapter. Please help. Thanks Kam.
Not all wireless keyboards work, I tried a wireless microsoft wireless desktop 800 kit and neither recognizes the keyboard but the mouse yes.
ok guys just hooked up my old logitech combo and it works.... say good bye gearhead...
Hey guys, I'm working on a Ubuntu port to my a500 but I can't seem to get my wireless keyboard to work. I have a combo wireless keyboard and mouse that works off of one usb plug; the mouse works but the keyboard won't type anything. It's a logitech mk320. Any help is appreciated-
Thanks
Im using a Logitech MK220 wireless combo with no problems at all. Mouse and keyboard with a single usb dongle. See if it works on your pc if you havent, check batteries and stuff.

Well, it does work on pc, I'm typing with it right now. I just bought it- batteries are fine. Like I said, mouse works on tablet but not the keyboard... any other ideas?
sorry not sure if u already fixed ur issue but I just bought a MK220 and it works fine with my N8010 . tips: restart the andorid while the logitech reciever is plugged in. if it doesnt work for some odd reason, take out the batteries of the mouse and plug in the reciever and restart. (this will not pair the mouse)
hope it works,
Haven't used my Nexus Player for months. Just updated to Nougat and noticed my Logitech K400 keyboard isn't working. I tried the dongle in my laptop and the keyboard works fine. I'm wondering if Nougat killed the USB OTG function or if my cable has gone bad.
I don't want to have reflash to Marshmellow if I don't have to.
Thanks.
My OTG is working with Nougat. I have a MS keyboard and mouse dongle.
My NP works fine with Nougat with a Logitech K700 keyboard (from a Revue) + Unifying USB dongle.
The only way my galaxy t810 recognized the USB stick is when I change the USB configuration of tablet to rndis (USB ethernet). Don't know why! But only for pendrives, still doesn't work for my HD (even with root and with paragon or any other app).
Excuse me if my English is unfortunate, I'm Argentine and I have to use Google Translate to talk to you.
Directly to the point, our Moto G5 plus or at least mine, is not compatible with the USB joystick, something similar to what happened with the Moto e2 LTE, but for the latter there was a kernel that allowed the use of USB Joystick:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/orig-development/kernel-srfarias-uberdt2wl-2016-04-27-t3366997
My question is this: is there any kernel or rom that enables the use of USB joystick?
I'm using AEX Pie rom and I can confirm my otg wireless dongle connects to my Xbox style controller and can play asphalt.
I'm pretty sure I have used it on my stock ROM while it was Android Nougat.

Yes, I understand that it is compatible with the wireless controls that are connected by a USB dongle, the problem arises when a USB Joystick is connected through otg, it is compatible with the mouse / keyboard but it is not compatible with the USB Joystick
It's as if I had not sent enough power to the USB joystick.
And it's not my joystick or my OTG since I connect it to a J5 prime and it works correctly
I must add that it is not my Moto g5 plus either, since it is the second one I own and in none there was support for the USB joystick
I found the same thing with my device and USB joysticks. They would power on, meaning the lights on the joystick would turn on, but no input would be detected.
I could only get Bluetooth joysticks to work.
