I was using stock rom with stock kernel ( froyo 2.2 - DDJP4 ). I recently flashed fugumod 2.4 beta 3 standard edition kernel with odin. All gone well , now it is saying fugumod kernel in about phone. Though i kept fs.covert with correct values in /sdcard/android/data/fugumod/ , filesystem conversion did not happen. I tried rebooting phone , but it didn't worked. Please help me to convert filesystems , as i need them to install data2sd. Also i am unable to have CWM recovery , please help me for both issues.
Try G3Mod kernel and then install G3Mod app. You can change filesystems eaisily. And also enable data2sd eaisily.
open a new text file and rename it to "fs.convert" (For eg : file.txt => fs.convert )
Inside that file specify the partition, and along with it the filesystem u want to convert it to :
Eg: stl 7 ext4 stl 6 ext 4
After that place the file in the Android\data\fugumod folder on ur sdcard and then restart

Hi.My Samsung Galaxy S runing 2.3.4 XXJVR with GALAXIAN V2 KERNEL and CF ROOT.I want to convert to EXT4 with EXT4 Manager but i can't.
I've atached my situation. Help.
Kernel
I think you are running a kernel that is not supported by the CF root ext4 application (not sure if Galaxian supports it). Try flashing Chainfire Kernel (CF something v4.1) or Sempaphore, there it should work. I converted RFS using it yesterday and there were no problems (using Semaphore 1.5.0v).
to use the convert feature, use the SP4 version of the galaxian kernel. with the latest ones and SP6, the ext4 tool cannot identify the type of partition and therefore cannot proceed with the conversion.
Flash the Semaphore Kernel and use the ext4 addon from CF-Root Kernel Thread... and than you will have an app called ext4...
Happy converting
Flash stock XXJVR then JVR Voodoo kernel here
Download voodoo control plus and your galaxy s will be solid.
just flash su again -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14900939&postcount=311
I got this message when i'm trying to restore rom backup made by kernel ver. 1.8 g3mod. I got ext4 and swap partition. How to unpack sd-ext.img to ext4 partition in winxp? Is it possible? (don't have linux system on pc). Or maybe it's possible through some linux commands via terminal emulator on my phone? If yes, what to type?
Please help.
ok. i've managed to solve it. just replaced kernel to fugumod, restored backup again and it unpacked properly.
Unpacking is pretty easy just change the file extension to tar and extract using 7 zip out any other utility.

I want to make the main sdcard media partition as ext4.
Means the partition in which we stores song videos etc.
Also it means that one partition only with fs as ext4.
I had seen similar thread for NEXUS
I also tried to manually mount the filesystem as we have suppot of ext4 in MINI CM 7 with nAa kernel.
mount -o rw -t ext4 /dev/block/vold/179:2 /mnt/sdcard2
Result :
No Such file or directory exists.
Device Config.
Sony Ericsson W8
nAa kernel 08b
Mini CM7
I also tried cynaogenmod.com
There i get some files which can do his for us but they are source files and there is a requirement of rebuilding the rom.
Not only nAa kernel but Alfs also has EXT4 support. But is not for main partition its only for the second partition that you have created for APP2sd.
May be someone will do this ( main partition as EXT4 ).
Then we will have super speed as EXT4 is Fastest.(except NTFS which is not supported yet)
Let's request someone please
Requests to the devs
I requests dev to please rebuild Mini CM 7 with these source code files containing codes for mounting ext4 media partition.
These files are for Nexus S.
Zip contains :
1. Volume_new.cpp
2. FAT_new.h
3. FAT_new.cpp
4. EXT4_new.h
5. EXT4_new.cpp
6. sdcard_new.c
Requesting Dev's
I request again and again please rebuild roms with the codes to support ext4 media partition.
If I ain't reaching the developers through this thread please someone refer this thread to the devs.
Or if developers are working on this please notify.
Again Requesting
I'm again requesting devs,
In my opinion it might not difficult for you all to add EXT4 support for media partitions in roms.
I also attached codes ( .c files )
I'm studying engineering and knows small C language and i know that the files i attached are of c language and should be compiled to run .
I also knows that roms you all build are compiled from the sources.
PLEASE also attach these codes.
This is also for some doers ( Not devs but knows a bit or more )
There are also instructions somewhere on a site how to rebuild a rom with these codes.
Is it possible to maintain all the applications after changing ROM Stock to Custom? Do I have to delete the partition on the SD card when changing ROM (I am using Link2SD) or kernel will change (I use the kernel from Merruka)?
I would like to change the ROM on the Hyperion 8 / CM, but do not want the new kernel upload, move, and download applications, speed up phone boosters and so on.
For the apps part, make a backup of your apps with titatium bwackup, install rom, create mou t script in link2sd and clear the 2nd partition and restore your backup.
For the kernel part, for hyperion (and any other stock based rom) you can keep merruk, for cm you need to follow the installation steps in the rom thread (stock kernel is not compatible with cm).
Hello, today I tried to compile my own kernel, and everything went nicely, packed zimage and ramdisk to boot.img, but when you try to format the partition / system / data and / cache error pops up (picture 1).
And now what is the problem, whether in the config file? or just bad compiling a kernel?
PS: Here I give a configuration file pastebin*com/raw.php?i=UbBVsC8L
