Ok something isn't right...
I was flashing Toxic Crazy8 because I couldn't deal with CM7's battery life. I am trying to Odin back to stock first. I go through the entire process and when Odin is done, the phone boots into recovery and says
"E:can't mount /dev/blok/st110 (invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount DBDATA
Copy default media content failed."
When I reboot phone I get the Vibrant Screen, the Tmo start up screen and then I got nothing.
Any ideas on what is going on?
I used the PIT512 and T959UVJI6 for my Odin files.
Thanks
Never mind, I used a different Tar file and got it working
MOD Edit: Glad to hear research helped you mate
Cheers,

could someone please help. I was using voodoo and now i get just the recovery with this error. I thought this might be caused my voodoo but not sure how to disable it since I can't create anything via adb(permission denied). I have tried reflashing with odin but this is as far as i get.
E:Can't mount /dev/block/st110 (Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA: copy default media content failed
I received this after trying to flash the j16 update directly without doing the stock T959UVJFD. I used the following package and have uploaded below.
Please don't link file.
odin1.0_T959UVJFD_512.pit_rootupdate.rar
Happened to me the other day ,
I'm assuming you tried flashing JI6 through Odin but flash the JDF original stock rom through Odin as it contains the dbdata files and it converts everything.
Before you get flamed next time post in the Question and answers section.
Hope this helps!

Hi
I recently got my phone back from repair (damaged screen). Phone came completaly wiped as you can imagine but before it was sent away it was running on OCLF 2.0 by Ryanza...After I got it back ive noticed that there were some problems like notification bar got stuck, appz were very laggy etc..
I came to the conclusion that this is because of some partition corruption or sth.
I tried to update firmware via Odin but whatever i try it always fails before installing giving me that in the recovery mode:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_medua:Can't mount DBDATA:
I tried different Froyo version but it always downloads firmware from pc and fails just after that...(through Odin)
Recovery mode (3e) still works but i worry my partition structure may be damaged ...
Is there something else i can do to fix it??
Appreciate every help You can give me.
Try an eclair firmware and check repartition in odin. There are a bunch of threads in the q&a forum. Search for your error msg.
its very important that you use all 3 files, with repartition ticked, to get rid of these errors
I tried to repartition with both checked and unchecked....but will try to use eclair ...does using phone(modem) makes any difference?
managed to fix the problem flashing old JPC with 512 pit ...thx for help guys..appreciate it.
So I have had my Fascinate for a couple months now, and before that I had a D1. Never had any problem with it and was always careful about making backups and installing the correct ROMS for my phone. But now I apparently made a big ol' mistake.
When I turn on my phone the SAMSUNG logo pops up and it boots to the samung recovery and I get this message.
E:Cant' mount /dev/block/stl11
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1

I can use the update.zip to load into CWM and that works but I get this message.
E:Cant' open /cahe/recovery/log
When I try to install a .zip I get this.

if I try to restore from a backup it gets to the
Restoring cache part and hangs up
I cant seem to load into DOWNLOADING (bootloader?) for Odin or adb.
It was working fine last night and I tryed Kaosinate's alpha Froyo last night and I got that to load and install fine. When I was done testing it out I tryed to restore to the back up I just made. I think that the kernel that goes with is ROM was a Voodoo lagfix one, and when I restored my old ROM it would boot up completely fine but the touchscreen us totally unresponsive.I tryed to do a full data/cache wipe and then restoring again and I still got the same problem. I then try to install a different rom and it got stuck on some screen with alot of text on it when it was booting. I had to do a battery pull and thats when I got to this point.I guess my question is. Did I brick my phone?
I love this problem I have done it many times now you have to get a d101 and flash back to Odin and put your phone in download mode by turning it off hold down on the volume and plug in your USB cable and have Odin open

THANK YOU MISTER GUY ON THE INTERNET!
I admit to all noobish actions on my part.
No its not noobish it just different I came from a OG Droid also and I have encountered this many times where with my og Droid I would have just restored and error fixed

Running EC07_clean and followed the directions precisely. I know I didn't do anything wrong during the installation. Flashing ROMs is second nature to me at this point. Everything works seemingly fine while in the UI but as soon as I boot into stock recovery (2e) things start to go haywire.
Booting into recovery on the first screen I instantly get code errors:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11
(Invalid argument)
#MANUAL MODE#
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11
(Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11
(Invalid argument)
I have to apply update.zip every time I boot into recovery.
Apply update.zip into cwmred and I instantly get:
CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
The screen is glitchy and every time I boot into the UI all the changes I have made are lost including but not limited to RSS settings, notification settings, sound and volume settings etc...
Mounts and storage menu is as follows:
- unmount /system
- unmount /data
- mount /dbdata
- unmount /cache
- unmount /sdcard
- format boot
- format system
- format data
- format dbdata
- format sdcard
- format sd-ext
- mount USB storage
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful. I've never done this much damage too a phone but I feel like there's a simple fix. Thanks again.
i would recomend finding an odin image for DL17. do it back to complete stock, perform a data/system wipe within stock recovery. Once booted up search for updates and install whatever updates verizon pushes.. sometimes this can/will fix whatever issues. This sounds like it may be a mounting issue. i have had similar issues when i was on the droid x, they resolved themselves and were more of a nuscience than anything else.
I have seen a few scripts that specifically taget those sectors/partitions when reformatting. I can try and find/write a script in an update.zip form to reformat it.
In reguards to the recovery and always having to reflash CWM recovery, this is normal it doesn't completly replace the stock recovery, simply allow to have normal functionality along with the enhanced features of CWM once flashing the update.zip. Be warned however if you download any updates pushed by verizon, often times they are named update.zip and are placed on the root of the sdcard so they will overwrite CWM's update.zip so have a backup handy

figured it out... when you installed my rom you hit repartition. This deleted two files as stated here
Code:
What happened is you probably flashed using Re-Partition but your PDA and/or CSC was missing the cache.rfs file.
If you tick Re-Partition, you MUST flash the complete set of firmware files (those that include cache.rfs and dbdata.rfs) otherwise you'll get errors like that.
To fix it you have to flash again with Re-Partition and make sure this time your PDA or CSC file has the cache.rfs and dbdata.rfs file inside. You'll lose all your app data, so backup first.
Next time when u flash, don't Re-Partition unless you know you need to. For example, the official JPM/JP6 Froyo update files do not come with a dbdata.rfs, so if you (wrongly) click Re-Partition when u flash them, you're gonna get a similar error but with the /dbdata partition instead.
When i get home from work i can create a zip that will install these back, if you are unable to fix the issue
I would greatly appreciate any kind of zip file you could upload for me. I'm happy you've taken so much time getting me back online. When I fix the cache errors I'll reflash Miunia and we'll go from there working on bugs and such.
Thanks again,

No rush just have to keep my phone from rebooting, I've reapplied personal preference settings about a dozen times since I woke up this morning. xD
working on it now.
---------- Post added at 10:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 PM ----------
This isn't a flashable zip, but rather a file you will flash through odin
Heres the link, make sure the repartition is not checked then stick this into the pda location then flash to your phone.
Fix
Between help from both you and Trailblazer I seem to be back in commission. Thanks everybody, now I can get back to debugging! I appreciate all the help, flashing in the next 20 minutes.

wait 20 minutes and you can flash my new one
well that is dependent on how long it takes for it to backup and upload
That's the plan as soon as I flash trailblazers repartition-able fix for my cache files. We should both be done about the same time. Looking forward to having Miunia back.
Factory reset didn't work before I flashed so I flashed first...

2501, do you have a link to test4?
Edit. Just flashed test4 and applied update.zip CwM Cyan. Everything formatted successfully. Trying a ROM now.
So my wife has this note 4 and a few weeks ago it started doing the bootloop thing... Tried a few solutions but nothing stuck.
since the device is in top shape(never dropped, always in original cover etc) i refuse to accept it just dies after a little more than 2 years of use.
No there is no warranty left, no a phoneshop is not an option. this is now my toy and i want to get it fixed
things i can do:
use odin to set it up with twrp
boot into downloadmode
look at it being stuck in first bootscreen
things i tried:
replaced the battery
first thing was wipe cache, that made it wake up from the bootloop temporary.
installed wake_lock as per found threads on the web, this didn't really do much as the phone would still reboot
factory reset from the phone settings menu, no help
factory reset from bootmenu, same result aka nothing
i did a few different (all) wipe options from the bootmenu
tried installing a repair firmware but this would fail in odin (3.12.7)
now when i boot into twrp i cant do anything because it is unable to mount data/cache/system etc
storage volume turns up as 0
kies says it doesn't support the device
smartswitch tells me the same.
so we can boot into twrp or downloadmode
wich tells me the device isnt "DEAD" but more coma-like
anybody that can help out?
Try to format /data with TWRP. You will lose all data but at this point I think your main priority is just to get the device to wake up. Flash latest stock downloaded from updato or sammobile and install via Odin. If Odin fails, please post what error message you get.

i cant even use format data with twrp
unable to mount

first line says:
Erimary block device '/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata' for mount point '/data' is not present!
the hole keeps getting deeper

Yeah you've got an issue on your hands. Just keep digging and you'll find the answer eventually.
Apparently, there have been reported cases of your problem and having been fixed (on other systems, though)
For example this thread where they fixed it on a Nexus 7: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa/mount-recovery-t3064562
Just keep searching
I'll keep digging around and let you know if I find something related to your problem
EDIT: Might be corrupted partitions. Try to re-flash ROM but using a PIT file in Odin (to re-partition) and see if it fixes your issue

tried using cwm recovery but that seems to have even less posibilities than twrp so that one is of the table
I read that post you referred to and followed a trail to a post about PIT files. sounds promissing but i can"t figure out what PIT file i need for my particular device
Need to know how to determine that before i can proceed with using a PIT file because i read that you mustn't cross flash a wrong pit.
Furthermore... storage still shows up as 0 no mount, nothing partitionable/formatable

Hopefully you'll find the correct PIT file, you just need to make sure you have the correct model and correct storage capacity
By now i am getting MMC: mmc_read fail errors
