Hi all,
Just thought I would try the MIUI rom on my phone. I completed a backup through nandroid and flashed the new ROM.
Tried it for a bit and wanted to go back to my original setup. Rebooted into clockwork, fact reset the device (format data/cache everything) and completed the restore (which said it worked correctly).
Now every time I turn on the phone I got the HTC on a white background and it goes no further.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Should also mention that I'm using version 3.0.2.6 of ClockworkMod

WHAT I DID:
From stock ROM, albeit rooted -
opened ROM Manager
chose to download CM7rc2, also ticked Google bundle
allowed it to do its thing
Could not log into Google account, same as with CM6 - why does it hate me?
decided to flash back to previous backup
it goes OK, BUT:
"Restoring boot image..."
"Restoring system..."
"Restoring data..."
dalvik-cache
^^^ wtf is that?
it's stuck on "dalvik-cache" forever.
Pulled battery, tried again, same result.
Pulled battery again, tried to reflash older backup. BOOT LOOP.
So now I have a phone that isn't exactly bricked, but is unusable. I suspect there's a way to recover this, but I have no idea how to go about it. Help?
I almost see why no one else is helping. I surely posted in the last thread you had about the same thing. Your list never once mentioned a full wipe before installing CM7 over stock.

Okay I've never read such a weird explanation on any thread in this forum.
Btw, I recently flashed InDroid 4.3. Less than a week ago.
My phone was running perfectly, but my google account linked with my phone was not what I wanted it to be. So I added another account and my phone said that to delete my previous account I had to do a factory reset.
So I deleted my older backup that I had created using Titanium Backup (when I was using stock ROM) and I created a new backup.
So I held down the power button and tried to get into recovery. But my phone just got stuck at the "samsung i5801" screen. I let it be for 10-15 minutes but it won't go beyond that. So I re-inserted the battery, and tried to get into recovery again. Didn't work.
Then I tried to just start my phone in normal mode, but still it just got stuck at the i5801 screen. I removed the sim card, SD card and tried, still stuck at the same screen.
Then I tried to get into downloading mode, which (thank god) worked.
Now I know the logical thing to do is just to flash a new ROM but my questions are :
a- WTF happened?!??!?!?!
b- since I can't get into recovery or normal mode, how do I reset factory settings / clear cache? And if I don't do all that, will flashing be successful? and safe?
btw, I'd like to continue with InDroid until Kyrillos 6.0 is perfectly stable.
-That happens frequently with indroid.. main cause could be the filesystems..
-flash kyrillos v6 its pretty much stable..
-Once you flash a new rom you'll be able to boot into recovery..
-Remove sdcard while flashing once done insert sdcard and wipe data n cache from recovery..
This is my wifes phone, who has always refused to have her phone altered in any way. Today, it started getting hung on the yellow sprint screen. A couple of times, another reboot would get past it. But now it's stuck for good.
She has some pics and thousands of contacts and SMS messages on it that she doesn't want to loose, so kind of afraid to do a factory reset or odin a fresh ROM. I don't know if she allowed it to take the latest firmware updates, so I don't know for sure what version is on it.
Can I odin CWM or TWRP only so that I can do a nandroid backup?
Once I know all the data is backed up, I can try the factory reset and/or odin rooted stock rom and use titanium backup to restore data.
Thanks
I don't know the answer but in my head I'd think you would have to have a working rom to back up in the first place. Maybe she ran out of memory? Flashing the stock Rom won't delete anything. Just did that a few days ago.
I went ahead and flashed CWM and did a nandroid backup. I used my other phone to look at the backup with Titanium Backup.
It looks like I will be able restore contacts and other apps/data. Not sure which item in the backup is for SMS history. In TB, I see a line that says "Messaging" and "Messaging+" and i don't see "com.adroid.providers.telephone".
I know the SMS's are in the backup, I extracted the tars in linux and see the folder /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/
Used odin to flash the pre-rooted OD2 lollipop. It stayed on the yellow screen for several minutes, but I did notice that it played the full boot tune, which it hadn't been before. After a few minutes, it finished booting and started the setup wizard!
OK, so I was preparing to flash a new ROM to my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4. I backed up my original/stock ROM using TWRP Recovery and everything went well. I then flashed CWM to my phone and it was a bad ROM, so when I went to restore my original ROM, it installed great, however the boot process didn't backup. So now every time I turn on my phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo shows up, but then blank screen with blue LED on. It would stay like this until I took my battery out. I need to know how I can restore my original ROM. Can I install a stock ROM, then restore my backup, or what?? Please guys I really need help.
Hi All,
I was on some Lollipop rom for a few weeks and decided to try something new so downloaded one jackaway rom l2 and did the usual backup, factory reset and flashed the rom. All good but after say 30mins i decided to go back and restore my previous rom. Went to recover did a cleanup to install new rom and then started restoring the backup previously made however after sometime in the restore process the screen dimmed and then just blacked out without any warning.
Now my phone does boot up into recovery after removing the battery and putting it back again but any thing like flashing a new rom or restoring causes it sometimes suddenly blackout or goes through the screen dimming and blackout.
I have never experienced this before so can someone pls advise if they know as to whats happening and if Odin flashing is the only way left for me. Thanks
Forgot to mention, mine is a N9005.
bump.
Can someone help me pull the cwm backup from internal memory using adb. Thanks
What recovery are you using?
