I have just root the GS2 by CF-Root 4.1 and tried to edit the build.prop for LCD resolution by Root Explorer. However, it says the file is read only. Then, how can I make the build.prop can be edited?
thanks
Did you make the partition writable? Click on the button on the top right which says MOUNT R/W to make it MOUNT R/O

I can't delete my gmail.API out of the system files it just respawns. And ideas?
apk?
Make sure the system is rw. Otherwise it just "pretends" to delete.
Yeah apk sorry. Switched keyboarding. root explorer says r/w at the top

Don't trust root explorer. It doesnt always correctly mount as rw.
How do I fix that sir?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
You can use terminal commands, but for a fairly simple way to do it, I use "Remount /system (ro/rw)". It's a free app on the market, easily remounts system as rw at the touch of a button.
Well my idea didn't work but thanks guys

Let's cut the crap. Seems like somebody on a Chinese forum figured out the way to apply the mod to MM2. I just translate it into English.
1. Download the attachment and unzip milestone2_more.ko to the root of sd
2. mount /system/ r/w
3. copy milestone2_more.ko to /system/lib/modules/
4. open terminal emulator
5. input the following command
su
chmod 644 /system/lib/modules/milestone2_more.ko
insmod /system/lib/modules/milestone2_more.ko touch_num=6
(the guy said if you choose a number greater than 6 the system will crash)
now you should get a 6-point-multitouch

Thank you soooooooo much! )))
Works but MT is still buggy...
oh my god.. thank you, it works.
5 is more than enough

Is this permanent? Or it'll go away when we reboot?
Sent from my A953 using XDA App
It will go away when you reboot, but its not a big deal to use the command again

Just make a init.d script to load it up when the system boots and you won't have to worry about it again..
Just did this, but I think i wrote it wrong. Please correct me
I created a blank file and wrote inside it:
insmod /system/lib/modules/multitouchfix.ko (I replaced the name)
And saved the file as 99multitouchfix inside /system/etc/init.d/
I also fixed permissions for both files

Is it working Aragorn?
Thank you. I'll try it when I get home!

Nope. The module works, but not the init.d script
you can use autostart from Market

Try this script:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# Load 5 finger multitouch module
insmod /system/lib/modules/defy_more.ko
Also note that the first touch after reboot is delayed.

I'll try that as soon as my M2 wakes up, long day for it today =P
Actually, the patch is developed by korean , the XDA thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162327
Autoload after reboot: copy install-recovery.sh to /system/etc and set rwxr-xr-x .
If you wanna change the touch point limit , open install-recovery.sh with text editor , change the number that follows "touch_num=". The range is 1~10.
My own test shows more than 6 touch points will NOT lead to system crash , but make it back to 2 points...orz. Since the same patch on D2/D2G/DEFY enable up to 10 points, why
m2 cound not
Ah, forgot to say , the autoload patch is ported from http://bbs.gfan.com/android-1997547-1-1.html
Neither autostart or init.d script worked. Going to try the install recovery

Did you set the permission properly, both milestone2_more.ko and install.sh.
All works fine, both the milestone2_more.ko and the install recovery, no problem at all, have 4 MT points now
Ok, never seen this before and suspect SD card corruption.
I did a nandroid backup today before I flashed a custom kernel. Everything went well. Now I am getting low space alerts (got the 8GB model). I want to delete the backup which comes in at 1.8GB. Problem is, the permissions are wacky - the folder perms are rwsrwsr-t (775 with set uid, set gid and sticky).
I can't delete or change permissions with either root explorer or from the shell as root!
Has anyone seen this before, or have a solution ?

Same here. No clue how to get rid of it.
This is what I did when I switched from CWM to TWRP
1. Get Root Explorer
2. Navigate to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup
3. Delete whatever backups
4. ?????
5. PROFIT!

Its a common issue with some versions of CWM, but Koush has released a (radically) new version
fix is as Wiithepeng said

"I can't delete or change permissions with either root explorer or from the shell as root!"
If I delete with root explorer I get "delete failed". If I adb shell in and `busybox rm -fR` I get "Operation not permitted"
With those steps?

When I tried deleting from /mnt/sdcard or /sdcard or /storage/sdcard0 it would not work until I tried /data/media

Phonic posted a script in the "[RECOVERY] r3 (6.0.0.4) - Interim ClockworkMod recovery for Nexus 7" thread in the Android Dev forum,
when executed thru CWM will delete undeleteable backups
didnt use it myself, I used Solid Explorer to delete /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/......
Ok, I rebooted into recovery and was able to delete the files with adb shell.
wiithepeng: Sorry, didn't see the /data/media path at first glance, I was going straight to /sdcard - so it might have worked your way.
Thanks for the help.
No problem. Glad you delete those backups

Try THIS. Common problem and fixed in the newest version of the Recovery from that thread AND apparently the newest CWM directly from Koush.

Thanks bro... Root Explorer is premium so even ES File Explorer works as long as you are rooted and grant it SU access, which would be anyway as you have CWM.

This worked for me :good:
Wahay, Fix ed
I was going to make a zip and flash as i thought all was lost but then I just fixed this via adb using the following commands, I didn't get any errors and it was successful, here is what I did,
# cd /data/media/clockworkmod/
# chmod 777 backup
# cd backup
# rm -rf <backupfilename>
Hope this helps others,
Hi ,
i like to install My galaxy app in my Mako running on lollipop - unable to edit build.prop tried multiple tools.
Can some one help me to edit the file .
Thanks in advance
You need root, and a root file manager like root explorer from play store. Mount the /system partition as r/w, open the file, make changes, and then save and set the partition back to r/o.
Hi, I cannot convert an User App into a System App in Marshmallow.
Moving the Folder of the App from Data/App to System/Priv-App OR System/App does't work.
So I would know if there is a solution?
I tried also Link2SD function to Convert the APP into a System One but nothing.
It just dissapear like with moving the folder.
Permissions are set-up correctly.
Thanks.

Use this app to mount /system:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blogspot.superthomaslab.mountsystemrorw
Use this root explorer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
It's recommended to have busybox installed.
Or use TWRP:
Boot to recovery->go to mount->check /system and reboot
It doesn't work. I think is a limitation of Marshmallow Permissions.
The only way I found is using Lucky Patcher and selecting the option "Rebuild and install" to Install the file .APK as System from the beginning. Otherwise it doesn't work. Anyway thanks.

I had the same problem today.
I think I found solution !
I think you flashed wrong supersu version.
Try to flash this through twrp:
https://download.chainfire.eu/924/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip
After that go to es explorer enable root explorer. Next, click on root explorer and choose mount r/w check r/w on /system

Hi I have the solution-install a user app(don't move to SD) ,in es file manager mount system to rw ,copy whole folder of that user app from /data/app to /system/priv app ,now set permissions to folder similar to that of other folders present there ,now inside the folder set permissions to apk as rwrr (don't touch other folders present there). ,mount system ro ,now uninstall that user app from launcher and finally REEBOOOOT!!!! DONE
