Cool, good news! I been waiting for a more higher end Android model. I heard this one will have the sex appeal of the iphone and HTC Touch Pro II plus the functionality of WM and SE including the Cupcake OS (forbidden word ) plus a 3.5mm headset jack (wtf is that?! HTC users might ask, lol!). Looks like a great phone and am looking forward to it after I get my Touch Pro II (yeah, I will get burnt for saying that in this tiny, little Android thread surrounded by a million WM users, heheheh!) I do worry though, the article and some others state that this might be a DT thing and NOT T-Mobile USA release. Do you have any confirmation from your friend that this WILL BE coming to T-Mo. US?

Yes, he confirmed to me that it was coming to TMobile, but he didn't give me an exact date. Like I said, he has the prototype model, so I will try to snap some pics if he chooses to show me tomorrow, as he really isn't supposed to. Haha I ever offered to buy it from him, of course he said he had to decline, not because he didn't want to but because he couldn't. OH and one more major thing, is that the G1 will be released in several new colors, including red, green, and silver during the second quarter. However, that is just coming from him, no confirmation yet.

According to the article, it will have wifi.

It looks nice, has some good updates from the g1, BUT it does not have a slide out keyboard, only soft keyboard. The reason I get HTC phones only now is for the slide out.

This phone is uber sexy. The moment they release this phone you can bet. Ill be trading this phone in. I'm just wondering how they will root it without a hard keyboard?? Will it be rooted like the iphone is jailbroken??

A nice looking phone, but I too need the QWERTY love.

It hasn't been announced yet, but I am guess that all of the normal places will have it, best buy amazpn and all that.... it comes out June 8... so end of this month or beginning of next will be when it goes for pre-order

The thicker tab will hit Vodafone (spelling?) in the UK. A '4G' (HSPA+) version will come 'this year'.
It's ALL a little iffy.

I believe that in Europe it will be called the 10.1v ... and the thinner (better¿) one will just be the 10.1... the 10.1v is almost in preorder if I am correct

10.1v is indeed coming to European shops in few days. Seems like Vodafone wanted to be "first and exclusive: and they are the only ones that signed deal with Samsung at MWC. This means that they have to get this 10.1 in and prey to God to sell it which to me seems as an impossible task.
It can not compete with iPad 2, it can not compete with Transformer, it can not compete with Iconia a500. + because it is exclusive to Vodafone it will be pricey...
I am waiting for HSPA+ vet of new 10.1 SD card slot is a must with tablet... an why not others? Tavket has to be as light as possible, Super IPS screen is big +, battery is also very good.
I hope they will be fast.... as the things stand at the moment I am not that convinced that S1 (since it will have Tegra 2 inside???) is a good option but once it is introduced in flesh.... who knows.
I would prefer to buy 10.1 instead of being pulled towards S1 and wait even more

Yea, I'm taking what they said with a grain of salt, but the store manager told it wasn't on his list.
Just Xoom, Playbook, Toshiba Tab, and Asus.

Agreed EXCEPT for the HSPA+. Besides it's thin-ness the main draw of the thin tab was it's price. It has to be competitive in price and on a competitive network for when it gets '4G'. So i'd say $500 for an unlocked LTE version would kill all competition.
And maybe a nice dock?

I am only planning on getting a wifi version .. but I really hope that there is something like the ipad2 cover that apple made... it is nice a sleek... I can live with it not turning off the screen but it makes feel more book-like and I think that that would be a great thing to have

Ditto. I doubt there will be an LTE version. I'm buying the wifi version. And if there isn't a smart cover-like thing I'm going to try to make one. And the book like feel is one of the things I love about my nook. I'm just worried that if Samsung does make a smart cover clone, Apple will say that they're copycats.

Have you read the reviews of this cover? It's quite bad. It leaves greasy marks on the screen and doesn't really protect anything.

Which is why I want to make my own. If I ever got around to it. I'm interested in ROM development.

Again they would have hit a marketing and selling hot spot - and I do not think ppl. would care that they had it all the time but without an "i" bit.
So...
1. do not worry what Apple will say!
2. You can be sure that if GT 10.1 will sell in volume there will be a lot of companies tying to make a buck on accessories for it (Samsung included).

Yaaaaayy, I've wanted this phone for like 2 months, I had a chance to buy a SGS2 but I took the Arc over the Galaxy S2, some may call me crazy (Maybe not you guys) because it's not as technologically advanced but that doesn't matter to me, the Arc S is DAMN SEXY! I ordered it in Pure White about 2 hours ago.
I'm on AT&T so I ordered the LT18a version because I'll receive the correct bands. So yeah, excited. Join me in my festivities!

Good choice, I do like the white as well ( had X10 in white ) but arc in silver cause they didn't have it in white.
Arc is well-designed and you will enjoy every second of that sexiness.

When you get your hands on it, you'll fall in love with its looks and you won't even want to consider an Otterbox case!! Trust me, I'm anal when it comes to maintaining my phone in mint condition, but with the Arc all I can stand on it is a clear silicone case. It just looks so damn perfect!!!!

Yes it comes with a very strong and perfectly applied screen protector.
It's very thick though and a fingerprint magnet. I removed it and applied a generic clear one.
Thhe best case for the white Arc S is the Barely There, it really is barely there!

When you want a case, I give anpther vote vor case-mate's barely there.
I hate cases on phones, so I removed it after 2 days, but ti's really thin. On my iPad 2 I have a case-mate barely there that is applied and it's great.
Case-Mate is a definite go
Screen protector:
Removed it on my Arc almost 2 months ago - no scretches
And I keep my "naked" Arc everyday when I go to school etc in the pocket of my jeans

Congrats for your adquisition. I'm with a LT15 for 10 months and it has small defects. Of course it's one of the better option actually in the market.

I guess mine won't be delivered until maybe two weeks or so. They'll start handling the order Monday, and it sure takes some time to deliver it from Brazil to Switzerland
Also, my ZTE Blade went completely dead. No life in it anymore. And I lost my usb cable, cannot try unbricking. Using Nokia 3310 now

I have received the Green version!

In spite of all the reports of the Green Emerald version not coming before june, I got a surprising mail yesterday, that my carrier ('CallMe', in Denmark) had sent it to me.
And sure enough, the Green 64gb version arrived today! See the attached photos.
I actually had already bought the White Pearl, which I have had a few days, but I'll return that and keep the Green Emerald. It's gorgeous. A rather dark, subtle green, but the light reflects in it, which makes it shift between a darker to brighter green, but not too flashy. It really is classy and cool at the same time. I love it
I wrote to my carrier, and they said that it was a surprise for them too, that they had received some green versions all of a sudden from Samsung. I hope that this is also good news for the rest of you, who are waiting for the green one - because maybe they are getting to the market much faster than expected. I don't know. I am just very happy to have it in my hands!

It looks so good, by far most beautiful color.

Gold is the best one according to me but it's a personal choice.

That's a Sexy Beast, I've got a case of the green eyed monster

By the way, I would say that it mostly is a very dark green. The brighter green is seen when a light source hits it from a certain angle - and the brigther the light source the more you get that shift in color as you move it around, and the more you get that 'metalic' look. But when it is still, on a table or in your hand, you mostly see it as a very dark green.

I don't have the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge on the back here in the UK either

same here, first launch event, matter of fact this is the first time i have won any contest, and supposedly they have goody bags for us invites,,sounds like a lovely few hours of asus showering us

We will see when we get there I'm pretty sure you are right though, but let's see when we get over there! Oh yeah, and as I hear the bootloader are locked as of now so whenever you see an ASUS employee ask them when will we be receiving an unlock so we can start development! Heh.

I will be there as well. I pre-ordered 2 Alcatel Idol 3's also, so it will be nice to compare the two.

So that was a fun time. Met a few AndroidCentral people, a few from XDA, and a whole lot of people who won contests to go. I honestly thought it would have ran longer, and was glad it didn't. Pretty cool grab bag as well, and I was lucky enough to snag the red version instead of the grey.

Oh nice on getting a red version! I immediately switched the stock cover out for the view cover anyway, though.

I am liking the view cover...more than I thought I would. the rock garden was a nice touch...

Color doesn't matter. Look under the phone/usb tray in the big box. They threw in a window-flip cover.

(nod) I don't use cases either. I'm not keeping the phone, though. It's really nice. I actually like the form factor better than my Nexus 6. Unfortunately, both T-Mo and AT&T are awful here in CT. I'm bouncing between 0 and 1 bar on the Zenfone and have full bars on my N6.

I asked for red and they gave me a red one. I was happy

I overheard you say that immediately after you got yours, I asked about what other colors they had and the gentleman sure made it sound like he would have given me a red one if I asked nicely. But I wanted black
It's cool that they had a bit of flexibility.

Jaysus145 and I rolled up from Harrisburg not knowing what to expect. We were really blown away by the hospitality and had a great time. The Zen Garden is in my girlfriend's cubicle already. Nice touch by them including a T-Mo SIM as it gives people with coverage concerns a chance to give it a try. My coverage here has been pretty solid but on the ride home, it was very up and down. Coming from VZW, that might be an issue, but it does give me an option for when my contract is up.
Good to (sort of) meet some people at the event. Good times.

I was able to snag a red one as well. The color is really growing on me!

I was at the event as well and was happy to meet some of the people and get a free phone to review and play with. I got the red one as well...seems many people did not know...that they could just ask for a red one lol.
