hello guys..im a bit new to HTC..i recently bough HTC magic Sapphire (black color) from lowyat plaza malaysia...i almost paid 470$ USD for it mean 1600 rm
im really sad that i can't use the GPS function like google maps other thing
im from turkey ..GPS function very important to me since im not in my country
my android version is 1.5 unlocked...do my HTC magic support GPS..?
Yes, it has GPS. Unfortunately you cannot use it with google maps by itself. In order to use the google maps you will need a data plan or wi-fi available, the gps is used in google maps only combined with the data plan or wi-fi for street-level locating.
Also you can use some alternatives:
Copilot Live
Sygic
iGO My way - soon to come
All 3 above can run using only the built-in GPS receiver.
really thanks...dude..
thanks
thanks. really helpful post. just subscribed a data plan and going to try it. haha.
I just got a new replacement EVO (from Sprint for $35) after experiencing reboot issues with my first EVO. The phone I got is a refurb, Hardware 0002. The new phone works great except the WIFI seems to pick up almost no wireless connection over wifi.
When I try to connect to my wireless router (even from 3 feet away) my EVO has almost no signal strength (-70). Even then, the connection is slow (2-3MBS) and spotty, doesn't really work when transferring large files. My wireless network is solid and I use a high-end router.
It seems like I got some bum hardware on this EVO, but I don't really want to take it back because It's already been replaced once.
Since my phone is rooted, I tested the Wifi-tethering, and it seems to work reasonably well when tethering EVDO. I haven't been able to really test my 4G yet.
My question is, whether I can try to do anything on the software end to help the wifi signal, or if I'm just SOL and have to either live with it or do another replacement with Sprint.
any thoughts are much appreciated

I have an HTC Tattoo running CM7, and I'm in Australia.
The maps always defaults to Great Britain until it locks onto GPS signal.
I tried changing all the language/local settings to Australia, but it still does it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Which version do you have?
I remember why I sold my original Optimus 7 now, I bought a new one yesterday as it was on offer, but for the life of me I can't get location services to work, my iPhone instantly find me, this phone just sits searching and gives and error it can't find me. It seems to be using GPS which when in doors isn't going to find me, it doesn't seem to use WiFi or Cell Towers. Outside its hit and miss if it finds me. I'd say it was a dodgy phone if the original phone I had didn't have the same problems.
Anyone any ideas? Its not that the location is off a bit, it just simply can't find me via wifi or cell
Vodafone's Optimus 7 firmware is broken - I worked out this works:
In MFG, navigate to Engineer Menu / Device Test / Sensor Test / GPS Test / GPS Setting
In User Setting, use following values:
Operation Mode: MS-Based
Accuracy: 100
Aiding Data: Hot Start
Auto Answer: Disable
Interval: 1
Number of Fixes: 9999999
Intermediate Data: On
In System Setting:
URL: supl.google.com:7276
Posnode: 255
2G: Loc Estimate
3G: Loc Estimate
Use Security: Use Security
MO Method: User Plane

Thanks for this, Going to flash a generic European ROM and see what happens
Not working for me.
LG E900 Vodafone
I flashed the unbranded European ROM and they still don't work. I am thinking it a bug with all E900 phones.
Tried Nokia maps and it found me instantly in the house, The Weather Channel also found me instantly, so I think it all comes down to the app.
Hey there,
I have a problem with my S4. It doesn't use glonass, although it receives the satellites. With omega v34 (Touchwiz Rom) everything is fine.
Outside the house, it may use 1-3 glonass satellites, although it receives 7 with good signal.
Does anybode know a solution for this?
