I have a G3 CID unlocked T-Mobile MDA and have tried dozens of roms and never really tried to send MMS before but now I want to and I am using TNT.1437 Touch 10MB Page Pool and have tried almost everything I can think of to get my MMS working and still I have nothing...
I have tried almost a dozen different cab configs and even tried to manually config everything by the instruction on this site:
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forum...obile-mda-windows-mobile-5-phone-edition.html
After manually configuring everything, it can't even connect to the GPRS or EDGE network and cannot send MMS still.
Someone please help, preferably someone who has had this problem before and fixed it.
Thanks, Dan.
Nevermind... Moderators please delete this thread. I figured out the MMS problem on my own. Thanks.
I have an unlocked MDA i'm using on at&t, i am having troubles trying to use modem link on it, it has tmobile 2.26 rom on it, but when i try to use modem link i can't change the access point name, it says wap.voicestream.com and gives me no other options, nor does it give me the option to add a new access point. Internet, MMS, SMS all work fine, just unable to use modem link. Also i can't get the computer to recognize it as new hardware even when i activate modem link as voicestream.com. Is there something in the registry that i need to change like i had to in order to remove the grayed out portions on MMS settings? Sorry for the long post, i'm still kinda new to the whole wizard game, but i must say this site is a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Travis.
The diagnostic menu access and settings on the nexus 1 sprint rom for eris have changed providing only network selection type and some pretty cool battery stats.
This menu before provide a managery of localized network settings and changes that are no longer there or accessible by the verizon diagnostic number. If anyone knows what files in the rom are directly related to this structure change in the rom please post it here because i have a feeling its tied to the mms issues everyone is having. Its pretty much the only thing thats apparant as a physical change on this rom.

Thank you for your hard work in getting this fixed. Wish I had the time to help you out a little more.
We'll i've about exausted comparing files and swaping them out on my phone, i mean it shouldn't be this hard 2.1 is 2.1.
Yes but if your using a legend Rom than its a gsm ROM, so I believe this is were the mms problem is coming in to play.

I think he's talking about the sprint port from heroc. We're missing like one small part either about APN or some settings or something

Yeah, we're just missing something tiny, its working sorta on my build but not up to real usability yet.
can you elaborate on how you kinda sorta got it to work? I've noticed when sending there is sometimes a spinning data connect looking thing at the top as well. If you have any heads up i'll look into it.
And the apns-conf, i cracked open a nexus 1 rom and ripped out the file and theres verizon wirelss carrier settings in it. No go with that either. So it has nothing to do with the apns file or the mmsmmc or whatever file some people have noticed.

Pulling the APK's from the Eris 2.1 rom and putting them in the legend build got inbound going and sometimes it'll send outbound. I've still not worked out whats the last issue with it though.
I tried pushing the stock Mms.apk and .odex from eris into /system/app running aloyisous 4.1 and now my phone is stuck in never ending boot up. any ideas for a quick fix or do i have to reflash?
Edit: Fixed with a flash without wiping.

does mms work this way? I tried doing that for building the rom and it stuck at hung at bootscreen then finally got through then FC 1000 times
i pushed the stock mms and had no change in results, none at all, even though its a different file size. See mms.apk is the text messaging app, not the config file. We need to look beyond the app, the apns confg and whatever else is out. Or we'd have figured it out.
You said you partially got it working where ti sometimes works. What exact files did you copy to sometimes get this too work because i've yet to have 1 file go through.
MMS never worked on the 1.6 ROMS (T-mobile based) made for the HTC Touch on Verizon and other networks, afaik they still don't have it working.
found another adb file inside of framework-res.apk under /res/xml
but even though it says verizons link inside instead of sprints still no go. But i did received a "cannot send message not found" error after doing it only on picture outgoing. Maybe thats a heads up of where to start? Maybe that file in combination with another inside the framework folder is the key too all this.
Try this:
Load up a normal 2.1 ROM that MMS works for.
Download APN Backup & Restore.
Use it, Backup APN's.
Load up your Sprint ROM.
Download and open APN Backup & Restore.
'Delete APN's'
'Restore APN's', and choose the APNs that you backed up from the normal 2.1 ROM.
Your APN's may be very close, but this will make them E-X-A-C-T.
I'd be curious to see if this will fix.
You should read the forums bro, we've be explicitely dealing with apn file versions with no effect. Pretty much the first thing all of us tried.

I too am at work so I can't upload it from here......
If you know of another way i can send it to you i will ......
just curious, what personal info might be in this file ? any, or is just the generic VZW settings ??
you could email it, i think you can attach anything using the mail app off the sdcard but since I don't know what files it generates i'll just wait till im home. I think i can manage 4 hours of having to do work and not picture message.

ok i just sent a copy of it to my work email and opened it......looks like 0 personal info is involved in this file....if you want me to email it i will
I have an idea.
sprint uses http://mms.sprintpcs.com
does anyone know what verizon uses?
ive done all kinds of google-ing and i cant find ****!
If someone can figure that out and post, i *may* be able to get this damn mms issue fixed!
thanks guys!
Here's how you can fix MMS for sprint-based roms:
Install and run a program called APN Backup and Restore from the market
Download and extract this attachment
Put the xml file (apns-Ivan.xml) in the /ApnBackupRestore/ folder on your SD card
Choose Backup APNs in the program. This makes a copy of your current APN file in case something goes wrong.
Choose Delete APNs
Choose Restore APNs and then choose apns-Ivan.xml from the list
Let me know if you need any other help.
no
CM builds dont work that easily
I wasn't sure what rom you were asking about. The APN trick only works on Aloysius, etc.
For the CM-based roms, I think each thread has their own fix. What rom are you using?
none of the builds have an actual fix. thats what me and conap have been working on. im on white widow. we have tried all the fixes, im looking into a new idea though.
thats why i need that info i posted up top
Gotcha. I'm pretty sure Verizon's address is http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Edit:
If that doesn't work, try http://mms.vzw.com/servlets/MMS
I found that one on some WinMo forums.
awesome! you rock. thanks.
No problem, let me know if you need any other help.
well i finally got mms working on my droid eris on CELB 2.5 and im not using handcent either. Instead of using apn backup and restore i just adb pushed the telephony.db file and it worked!. granted im on a different carrier but it worked just fine for me.
Hello, I have a problem with the mms with my operator vodafone Italy, I've tried a lot of thing, I have debranded the lg (becouse it was on AT&T), and I did the manual configuration with MFG, first disabling ADC, then serching manually for xml file in ''set Network Profile'', but nothing seems to work.
when I tap on _Prov_vdf_IT_222_10_eng.xml I receive this answer
''FAILED
setting was failed (access denied or invalid argument)''
I have no more idea how to enable mms.. i've tried alone but nothing work.. i need help^^
thanks u and sry for my english, i'm a really ignorant italian^^
hey same problem here...i'm italian too and can't figure it out how to make mms work with tim italy...get your same error message "failed"...that worries me a lot =( what about trying to contact lg usa customer support? perhaps thay have some tricks or special codes to enable these xml...
Do u speak about the code to unlock the phone? I've brought that to activate the phone for the first time with european carrier, but it don't work.
If u try with the postemobile xml it works.. it would be a problem with the vodafone italy xml.
Beggy have u try with the LG configurator for TIM? The app seems to support it
You can change this settings from the registry using the MFG app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16363034&postcount=3
That worked for me... I also have an AT&T phone but I'm in Mexico so I'm not 100% sure it will work for yours
if you need more help or instructions on how to get to the registry or something else just ask =)
i've already tried with the network configuration app, but it doesn't work...i would try to hard reset the phone and see what happens...because i spoke with TIM customer care and they said that i have to reset the phone, and the first time i will boot the phone will automatically get the right settings for mms...it's sim based as they say, if the first time the phone was booted with an at&t sim, phone would set at&t settings...so if i reset it and boot with my tim sim, it should configure tim settings...dunno but is worth a try
I've tried that, but always the same problem. In addition I can't install the xap, it requires an HTC Phone
