Okay, I was on the latest Wolfbreak, but I had a major, bootlooping crash, and had to return my device to stock:
1) i downloaded and installed the firmware from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054818 but before rebooting I
2) used the firmware downgrade from here to stock .54: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527&highlight=baseband in a similar fashion to getting wolfbreak on in the first place: recovery to install firmware, pull battery, flashtool, flash baseband/kernel package. i then
3) followed these instructions to fix the build.prop http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711 to rogers black.
I did not run the master uninstaller from 1 because i use root a lot. however, it seems now that the phone won't save the 3g network settings for longer than about 5 minutes. it keeps prompting to download, then i can get online briefly, then it says "failed to download" and i'm just a phone again.
I've tried repairing through PC companion and it says there's no software for my phone.
Can you help? I've tried just launching the browser and having it download, as well as going through settings, sony ericsson, etc. Its almost like some necessary file is R/o and not being written with the new info. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I've got a Nexus 4 Device that has unknown IMEI and BaseBand, hence i can't connect to any mobile network.
the things i've tried to do:
1. Flash to factory image from google (tried several version 4.2/4.4) using ADB fastboot which ran succesful all the way, i just got stuck on the nexus logo when it tries to load ( and yes i tried to delete cache and wipe data before and afterwards, it doesn't work)
2. tried to install different types of radio images on the device regardless of Roms.
3. tried to install various custom roms.
Perhaps it's important to emphasis that, everytime after i tried to install an original google Rom (later than 4.2, my current) it just gets stuck on the nexus logo. BUT, awkwardly, when i install the 4.2 version it does manages to load it succesfully but then again, the IMEI is missing and so does the broadband.
I remember that, originally, this issue occured right after downloading and installing from Google Play store the Root explorer app, when I wasn't actually rooted. I'm not sure exactly how it damaged my deviced that badly, though i find it hard to believe it was the original reason. Rationally thinking, I simply shouldn't be able to access root files in the first place, not lose my IMEI.
*note - I've heard of a HW device called OctoplusBox, that can rewrite the IMEI, though im not sure if even that could help since the baseband is also lost, I may need an expert on this.
i'll do my best to fill in everything i've got right here:
Current version: 4.2.2
Model Number: Nexus 4
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-perf-g7ce11cd android [email protected] #1
Build number: JDQ39
*in the "Status", everything including IMEI/svIMEI/broadband is all unknown.
Thanks in advance,
Let me know if your in a need of any additional information regarding the device.
Hi all!
I am writing some instructions for newbies like me that wish to root their Xperia Tablet Z. I spent a lot of hours trying to understand how things work and I try to fill this gap with this post. If anybody knows, I would like to have an answer on the DRM, and model type questions that I have colored red in the text.
I was a "proud" owner of Sony Xperia Tablet Z WIFI 32GB (SGP312) that I bought from northern Europe last September. It was my first Android device and I consider myself super newbie on this "sport". Since my last official Sony system upgrade ~1-2 months ago I had sound problems with skype. I could not make a call without a handset and also my sony speakers refused to reproduce any youtube video. Nonetheless, the alarm was working fine! I was disappointed and after a factory reset the sound problems persisted. Thus, I decided to delve into the rooting world.
So long story short, we can install whichever stock/original firmware we want if it is designed for our devices consulting the precious links in xda-developers.com forums. Then we can either stay with this or install custom "ROMs" having our tablet "rooted".
My first goal is to fix the sound problem so I tried following the stock firmware route.
I flashed the firmware(s) with the quite intuitive Flashtool. Beware that I had already installed the required Google's Android SDK/ADT kit in my windows machine, although I performed every task in my linux machine in order to have working fastboot and adb commands with the minimal fuss installation-wise. To flash the stock firmwares, or the so called FTF files, I was entering the flash mode holding/pressing down the Volume Down key while connecting the device with the USB to my PC. I note that holding down the Volume Up key, instead, connects the tablet in the fast boot mode
After/Before every firmware flashing I was trying not to forget to:
Enable the USB Debugging mode
Trust installation from unknown sources (this probably is redundant) and
Use massive storage instead of MTP in my USB connection options.
Then, I tried to unlock my bootloader (for experimenting purposes) following the official SONY instructions. I successfully did (fastboot was saying OK!), without keeping any DRM keys, since I guess I do not need them, right? However with some FTF stock firmwares my screen was freezing while booting and showing the "flying colors" and then it was eternally rebooting again and freezing again and so on. I tried this and verified it with a couple of FTF stock firmwares. The one was for sure the SGP312 Global Xperia Tablet Z WiFi 32 GB - 10.4.1.B.0.109, I do not remember the others. This 10.4.1.B.0.109 was working fine but not with the bootloader unlocked. I found out that I could break the boot/freeze loop by entering flash mode (Volume Down while connecting the USB) just after it was turned off after the "flying color" freeze.
So I tried with this stock firmware: SGP312 10.4.B.0.577 (UK version 32GB WIFI Unbranded) and after using my tablet for ~30mins I can say that I did not encounter any problems.
But I wanted to view the rooting world, so to do this I found out that installing a Recovery Software would help.
So I installed XZDualRecovery. I followed the instructions and downloaded TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.123-BETA.installer.zip and also the *flashable.zip from the same site.
Before starting to implement the instructions, the same XZDualRecovery post was mentioning I should install a 10.3.1.C.0.136 firmware and so I did, getting the SGP312 10.3.1.C.0.136 VMo EU4 firmware. This 10.3.1.C.0.136 was also working quite well, and after unlocking the bootloader (I do not know if I have to do unlock the bootloader everytime I flash a stock FTF) it was botting properly and my speakers were working fine.
I runned the install.sh for linux (install.bat for windows). I noticed that the third option was "3/ Attempt installation on unrooted device" which I tried and was successful, since then, the "Root Checker" app was saying that my tablet was rooted. That was really cool!
I wanted to enter the recovery mode so I turned on my tablet and when the "SONY" letters appeared (or a bit earlier) I started pressing multiple times the Volume Up key and a nice purple screen (like this) with the recovery appeared. There, I chose Wipe Data/Factory Reset (it was quite fast) and then Install multiple Zip files from the SD card.
The Zips I had in my card were the Cyanogen Mod, the Google Apps and the XZDualRecovery:
I downloaded Cyanogen Mod, pollux_windy for our devices, from here. I chose the latest stable version, cm-10.2.1-pollux_windy.zip 2014-02-01 01:07:05, but I hope another one will see the light soon.
I also installed the latest google apps that for today are these and the latest versions can be found here.
The TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.123-BETA.flashable.zip metnioned above. I am not sure if this is really needed but I think I read somewhere that I should included or else I would not be able to Reboot to Recovery after flashing.
The problem with the pollux_windy zip was that I panicked since the recovery zip installation stopped with the error: assert failed [...] status 7 and I was pretty sure I had an SGP312 device!!! So I deleted the first line in the cyanogen zip file:
Code:
/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
like it appears here or here. This forum post says I should not extract the zip, but I did and it worked.
After all the above steps I booted my tablet and everything seems almost ok so far. I say almost because:
I notice that my device, according to the settings is now the "SGP311" and not the SGP312 (how could I change that?), but in my free space I still see 25+GB (although I am still using only ~3GB).
Also, some times while I am scrolling e.g. in Play Store I see infinitesimal freezes in the movement of the webpage (AnTuTu benchmark returns a rating of ~19800-20118).
Moreover, I have installed ~30 apps, but the installing procedure seems somehow slow, and the last ~10 apps I tried to install have not been installed "due to an error 495". The above was "fixed" after a reboot, but I must say I never encountered this problem with my stock firmware.
To the first question in red: DRM keys are needed for Playstation Mobile, Video and Music Unlimited, I think something regarding Screen Mirroring and, until Android 4.3, no Bravia Engine 2. With 4.4, it works again.
About the 311 and 312 thing, it is because you flashed a firmware that wasn't specifically for your device. You can go into build.prop file, and change every SGP311 you find to SGP312.
Nevertheless, awesome guide

Thanks for the time to share
Hi all,
I have the SGP312 but it's not the "global" version (I noticed one of the stock firmware used was the UK one). I have the US/Canadian/North American version.
Would I brick my device if I flashed with the UK firmware? I haven't for the life of me found any guides/threads for my device.
I know it's the "pollux windy" (wifi 32gb) but I'm...afraid.
Thanks!

no.
At wits end, but can't get my WiFi to turn on at all.
The setup l had before was stock Bell 4.4.2 but rooted and TWRP (with backups).
Forgot to turn off (replacement phone, forgot to turn off), auto-updates. Phone tried to update to 5.0.1 but failed, telling me to use Kies. Had to flash in Kies as my phone got stuck in Samsung's boot logo. Before plugging into Kies, l tried wipe cache, battery out, and then wipe/reset, none worked. So l plugged into Kies, it did it's thing. Went smooth. Now, my wireless just won't turn on at all. Rooted it with CF AutoRoot. Went to wpa_supplicant folder, to find l don't have the .conf file. Renamed the folder, power cycles, system created the folder but no file again. Created a file named "wpa_supplicant.conf" and power cycled, renamed it, system didn't create it again. So l think l found the issue but any fix to this? Maybe running the wrong version, even though l have stock Bell apps (how l missed them )

Side note: I do get a WiFi MAC address that appears valid (haven't compared to my router logs) under status.
=================
Update I FIXED IT! YAY!
For those who are having the same issue. Do the following steps:
Download Odin 3 - Make sure Kies isn't running
Verify ID COM has a number like COM0 or something.
Leave everything else alone.
Download ROM from SamMobile or another ROM site Link (filtered to Bell)
Unplug phone
Place phone into download mode (Vol Down, Home, Power)
Using Odin, hit PDA and put the ROM in, give it some time
Plug phone in, and verify COM and message saying ADDED!!
Start it, then give it some time.
If you want to root it, do the same procedures but grab CF-Auto-Root and repeat it. Easy root.
Optional stepsbut l did it anyways:
Before doing this, l rooted it with CF Chain, and installed TWRP. Wiped Cache, Dalvik, System.
Hello dear friend
i wanted to thank you for your solution and specially download links, had the exact same issue which was resolved by the solution you provided.
I recommend flashing with Odin and a stock ROM from Sam mobile.com. kies has never worked for me so no now stick with Odin.
First of all please forgive me for opening yet another S4 wifi problem after kitkat upgrade, but I have tried everything I could possibly find here, on youtube and other forums. The only thing left to try is flash the modem but I'd rather ask before I brick my phone
I'm not quite sure if this is the same issue every single time or if in my case it is due to my ignorance and errors. I was an iphone/unlock/jailbreak user until last year so please bear with me. Android is new and fun (but scary) territory to me.
Situation, what I did and possible mistakes on my side:
-I'm in Spain but I bought my factory unlocked phone on amazon and it was for the Polish market (GT-I9505 Black, 16 Gb)
-My device was rooted don't even remember how I did it last year so no useful info on that side a part of using odin for windows.
- Until yesterday I was on jellybean, not quite sure if 4.2.2 or 4.3
- Yesterday I upgraded to 4.4.2 via mobile odin and yes I checked the boxes about clearing/deleting cache or whatever it's called.
- Used a stock firmware downloaded from other site (that one starting with "S" and with a great amount of firmwares for samsung devices of several countries)
- I chose a firmware randomly (maybe this was my mistake) because I hade read that the firmware was not that important and people where usimg leaked german firmwares on on phones from elsewhere. But I did choose one that matched the country of my phone (XEO/XX Poland)
- Everything is working fine but without wifi I'm buying new Mb bundles almost every 2 hours and I'll be broke very soon
If you guys think the solution is flashing the modem which file should I use? I see lots of them with different models/codes and I'm completely lost and have read a lot about messing with bootloaders/modems etc bricking devices so I'm freaking scared and ask for your charitative help!
All the info I could gather about my device right now (now I know I should have gathered this info also before attempting to upgrade but it's too late now!

Thank you so much for your helpful reply Joku1981 !!!!! You made my day!!!
Can I do that with Mobile Odin??? My PC broke (Graphics card burnt) and until a couple of months won't be able to buy a new one.
To make sure I understand you: You mean Flash again the same firmware I used to upgrade to 4.4.2 in the first place?
I used this Firmware: I9505XXUGNG8_I9505YXZGNH2_XEO
should I try Flashing that same Stock Firmware again? and if does not work keep reflashing until the baseband and the bootloader get updated?
Why did they not update ? is this common or an error on my side???
I hope it can be done with mobile Odin since I can keep my root status, If I have to do it in Desktop Odin do I have to Re-Root after flashing???
Thank you so much for you kind help!!!!!!

SOLVED!!!!!
After nobody answered if I could use again "mobile Odin" to flash once more and try to fix my wifi not working I opened mobile odin and it gave me a warning about my version and having a wrong bootloader as a possibility of soft bricking my phone so I decided to stay away of mobile Odin this time.
I used desktop Odin (at work since my pc broke) and exactly the same firmware file downloaded from sammobile (but re-downloaded it just in case) and had to flash twice, the first time it went through the whole process ok right until the end where it showed the FAIL message.
I didn't know if I should turn off the phone stuck in download mode and with the process bar at 100 % or retry flashing without turning it off. So I decided not to turn it off (afraid it would get soft bricked or something). I closed mobile Odin but left phone On with download mode screen active and opened mobile Odin again got the "added"message and the blue color showing it was properly connected to the phone and started flashing process again....
I started getting red error messages saying the progress bar display was wrong (and it wasn't updating/kept stuck in the previous 100%) but after it finished it was flashed and everything was ok. WIFI WORKED!!!!!!
Now the weird part.....in case this happens /helps someone else:
- My phone DID NOT get wiped. My launcher and my apps stayed intact (I thought flashing even the same firmware always wiped data, I'm I wrong???)
- All my root apps (root explorer, titanium backup, so on and so forth) where there and working fine. One root checker stated I was rooted and another one stated I wasn't but even my launcher (nova) was working just as if I never flashed the phone.
- Since I was unsure of my "root" state and I did not have "supersu" app in my apps drawer I tried installing it via playstore but It always gave an error message (the application could not be installed in the default location)
- I rooted again just in case and the root process finished without errors but still I had no "supersu" app and one root checker said I was rooted and the other I wasn't. Tried installing "supersu" from the playstore but same error and could not get installed.
- I searched here and in other forums for similar problems/solutions but nothing worked until I tried several things that fixed the problem. Not really sure which fixed it so I will write them down in the order I did them:
1. Opened folder mount which I already had installed and it gave me an error and asked me to try the fix which I did.
2. Opened linked2sd which I already had installed also previous to the firmware flash. It gave me an error and asked me which was the partition to use (as when I first installed it) in my case it was ext4. And it seemed to start working as it normally does. No further error when reopening it.
3. Rebooted the phone and tried entering recovery mode to wipe cache etc but It never entered recovery mode. I get the message about going into recovery mode (top left corner small red letters) But right after that it reboots and I get the samsung logo and my home screen.
4. Tried reinstalling supersu again and no success. (By the way before I did all this steps I tried rooting again but got to the same point. No supersu on my apps drawer)
5. Downloaded BusyBox install (opened it but did not use it in any way, maybe something in the installation fixed my problem)
6. Opened mobile Odin just for curiosity sake and it opened fine and asked for downloading of the extra stuff as when I installed it the first time. After that I closed it
7. Rebooted normally (no recovery mode since I'm stuck without it)
8. Tried installing "supersu" and NOW it worked!!!
9. Checked in both root checker apps and both confirm I'm rooted and supersu started asking for granting permissions to apps again as it normally does!
10. Everytime I attempted flash, root, and even after some reboots I took the battery off (since I read in several threads it helped/was mandatory)
Conclusion now my WIFI problem is fixed, my root problem (that appeared doing the reflash for fixing my wifi problem) is also fixed. The only thing I could not fix is not being able to get into recovery mode.
Does anyone know a solution for recovering the ability to get into recovery mode????
Thanks to Joku for lighting me into re flashing once and again until my wifi was fixed!

306sh activated with MVNO, SA300 firmware, rooted, with TWRP recovery,
working fine for past 2 months.
For unknown reasons, it decided last friday (at home, none to low signal) to do a system update
(from SA300 to S7232). Phone - on the desk- just "dinged" and msg came up "updating
system software". I attempted to cancel, but it didn't respond. Less than a minute later, "Update Successful" msg. Didn't reboot, anything, settings showed S7232 firmware. (SA300 before,
i had done my weekly backup earlier that morning).
Since then, phone constantly reboots at the "Aquos" screen; after an average 8 hours of rebooting, it will boot to setup, the talking setup screen. Works perfect for about an hour then rebooting starts again. Let battery die last nite, tried again this am - same thing rebooting.
TWRP backups don't fix problem- weekly backup, i have 6 i've tried, factory reset doesn't fix, if i try to Software Update, it checks, tells me, "up to date".
I turn on wi-fi to use the phone from home, , guessing it did a ? hit & miss ? ota update since the
wi-fi was off when it attempted the update. Home is a very minimal signal area.
Any way to force it to take the S7232 update again?
(I could update over wi-fi if i had wanted, only i didn't want the update anyhow).
thanks, rik

Hi,
Thanks for the help, just home from work (rough), so i will plug the
Aquos in tonite and hopefully be able to try the file tomorrow,
(that 8 hour boot thing), just downloaded your file, i'm ready.
This is my take-to-work personal phone, sprint zone, and i missed it today.
Your help is really appreciated.
rik
Final note
thought i'd just post to let you know the phone obviously had big problems
-- it failed to start today -- just buzz on buzz off -- even after 4 hours charging,
all i could get was the battery dead screen, wouldn't come on at all.
Guess the real problem was with hardware, i laid it away in the junk phone box
in the attic, end of Aquos Crystal.

Question: My 306SH would not update (still at S8216). Could use your back up to update my firmaware?
After 306SH ph was acting weird, did a hard reset & saw system Software updtd to S7232, & unk file in Misc (.eCtcQjbu1dgnvtFnvnr6yepTp1M=) I then installed Malwarebytes & scan detects this S7232 software update as malicious malware Android/PUP.RiskyTool.Agent.ay (dm.redbend) "/system/priv-app/fotaClient.apk". When going to System to do an manual update, Malwarebytes popups w/same msg every scan "Software App", even aft reboot 2days ago 7/12/2017. And phone wont let me create new google acct. An error that "google account mgr not working" popup & I see that same unk file reappears. Ph not rooted -XDA says "there's no root for 306SH that works">see XDA blog 'Root for Aquos Crystal 306SH ONLY'.
Go to the Sharp USA website for the 306SH firmware, and see what firmware you are on.
Download the firmware from the versions higher than yours, and if there is a repeat, notably "kernel.img", download the most latest version of it.
Then, plug your device into your computer, make sure you have the proper drivers installed for the Sharp Aquos Crystal installed on your computer. Boot your device into bootloader. Go to a terminal, cd to the directory where you downloaded your .img's from the website, and do
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
Ex.
fastboot flash foo foo.img
And you can flash all the latest updates. When done, exit the terminal, make sure the device is unmounted, unplug from computer, and reboot your Crystal.
Hooray, it should be updated!

Turkbot, I hate to beg on my first XDA post, but is there any chance that you still have that ROM and is there any chhance that it's not TextNow loaded? I've got TWRP, Busybox, SuperSU, Xposed, and I've tried every which way to edit the prop, tweak it with modules, unlock etc (it even works with my Sprint MSL, but crashes when I try to manually set my MDN and MSID) It just says no SIM/no service and refused to give me any signal except for GPS and WIFI without one. Countless 'techs' over the phone and 3 different Sprint repair stores claim they don't have the stock firmware and Sharp actually claims that the reason they can't help me with the firmware is their contract with Sprint forbids it.. If you still have the file or a TWRP / Titanium etc backup you would be my savior.
