Hey all,
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed if audio is coming out of the speakers when headphones are plugged in when using this ROM. I noticed it today and this problem doesn't show up in Virtuous Galaxy.
Hi,
Not at all. As soon as I plug headphones in the tab or any "jack plug", the sound stop coming out from the speakers.
If I start playing music with headphones plugged in, the sound comes out from the speaker as soon as I remove the plug.
I though it was a hardware related behaviour.
I should probably clarify, as I was in a hurry when I originally posted the question.
When I am playing music through Pandora or another app, I can hear audio from both the speakers and headphones. When I unplug the headphones the music stops, and I have to press play again, and the same happens if I plug headphones in when listening through the speakers. I'm assuming that this behavior is expected, but what I didn't expect was to have audio coming from both places haha.
Ok ! Now you're saying that, yes , I noticed the same thing : when I remove the plug, the player "paused" the music, and I have to press play again.
But I did not notice that when plugging in the headset.
I thought it may be related to "remote control" as for phones or Mp3 player. I've tried my Nexus One headphones with the tab but the remote doesn't work.
I didn't noticed it with 3.1 (Taboonay 1.x). Maybe you should ask vache ?
so, just to clarify.. You are hearing sound coming from both the headphones AND the speakers while listening to music WHILE the headphones are plugged in? that is what I was experiencing with this ROM. I haven't tried earlier versions of taboonay, but every other ROM that I have tried doesn't have this happening.
Not at all, I either ear sound from the speakers or in the headphones but I never eperienced sound coming simultaneously from both.
Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing this.. I can't post in the Dev forums yet because I don't have 10 posts, and I don't want to spam other topics just to be able to...

I am using the stock kernel with this issue
same here, stock kernel
Seems to be ok if using Thor Kernel.
Hi,
I have also problem for posting in dev section
I use Taboonay on A501, it work well, 3g also but, when i switch to 3G, the tablet reboot ...
After reboot, the 3g connexion work well...
If i test with another kernel, the 3g connexion is lost ...
please, can you post this in section, when i will have 10 post old, i will post himself
I submit your post in taboonay thread, but you should have started a new thread.
It is not audio related at all :-(
Sorry ... i will open new thred the next time ...
Alright, I'll try loading that tonight.
Edit: where is thors kernel?
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
Thor Kernel can be found there :
http://www.tegraowners.com/?cat=6
alright, I flashed thors kernel, but now I cannot download anything from the market and anything that needs busybox is being denied superuser permissions, I flushed the dalvik cache and wiped the cache partition, and this didn't help.
Did you flash Thor Stock Kernel ?
This is the one you should use with Taboonay. You should not use "the rest" one.
If so you may try :
Go to recovery/advanced/fix permissions, reboot
I restored to my stock ROM backup and reflashed taboonay and thors kernel, flushed data and cache and now its working wonderfully my data partition might have been corrupt. Everything is working now though! Thanks for your help!

I'm glag to ear that , cool !
Enjoy your tab ;-)

So I've searched using "keywords" and scoured through many similar posts on this issue within the forum and through Google with no luck, so I'm posting this request now.
Is there any way to prevent a new message/text notification sound from halting music playback?
I hook up my phone to the car to blast the music but when I get a text, it stops/halts/pauses the song, plays the notify sound, and then resumes playback.
I don't want to turn off the notifications all the way, I just want to have the notify sound play OVER or ON-TOP of the music playback
The phone is still running just the stock rom, but if you guys suggest an app or rooting, then I will do whatever it takes, thanks!
This is part of MOST phones. My phone does it, the G1 does it, my friends BB does it.
thanks fenixnr....so is there nothing that can be done to correct this on an Android device?
I know in the past I've had Windows Mobile devices with the same issue (Xperia X1) and some of the ROMs I flashed on it corrected the issue while others did not. My HD2 doesn't have this problem and it has a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack too.
Am I the only one who has noticed this
I was hoping someone else would have wanted the same thing resolved.

There is nothing to "resolve" as I am pretty sure that is by design how it should work. I cannot test this now, but try putting your phone into a silent mode when listening to your music... Of course, keep your media volume up for your music.
If memory serves me right I think that cm kanged expresso rom had the feature to play notification out of the speaker when headphones were plugged in. Cm6 might have that feature too. I'm not sure though.

So CyanogenMod-6 might have improved on this? [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118&highlight=kanged]
Sounds exactly like what I was looking for and this is a Froyo build too? Thanks slinky, I'll give it a shot!

honestly if its only a problem when you plug your phone into the car, just put your phone on vibrate or turn the notification off.
Yeah this is honestly the one thing buggin' me right now.
I walk to work it's about a half hour walk to and from and I don't give a damn about my notifications during that time. Hah.
Sometimes when I plug my earphones in, the music player shows it as playing, but there's no sound in the earphones. When i remove them, it works fine through the speakers. Tried using different earphones, but same result. Have to restart the phone to be able to use the earphones again.
I have been experiencing this problem since 3 days now.
Has anybody else experienced similar problems? Any solution?
I'm using stock Gingerbread on Moto Defy+.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
At first, I see only 2 options, despite trying another ROM:
1 - Try other music players.
2 - Be sure that you haven't changed any option in any Voice Search / Dialer. And if you have changed, try to reset to default options.

Hmn... in tha case, there's still a lot of things to do.
If the problem is with the phone's jack, you can try to clean it with a blow or compressed air.
There's a bunch of apps, like Ringo Pro, that are known to cause some similar issues, as reported in this thread: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/6f261e8427?commentId=564506#564506
After all, if you'r not willing to root and flash other roms in your phone, you might also try bluetooth earphones.

If dust etc were the problem, it wouldnt have worked after restart.
I went through the forum in the link. I havent installed any such app recently. The post might be useful for future though, thanks for that.
Guys,
i've managed to root my defy+, install 2ndboot and install CM10 JB last nightly. (Quarx)
Everything is working REALLY well, except, my headset plug won't work. i've tried 4 headphones (from lo-fi to hi-fi, mid ohms to "low")
it doesn't recognizes it... even the original headset when plugged won't get anything.
it plays music through the speakers, (through apollo and play music).
Everything else is working (i just didn't try theter, but i don't need it)
Post in the appropriate thread.
i suggest that you ask your question in the CM10 problems reporting thread, as more people will be able to help you there, compared to starting a separate thread.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button if this post was helpful. :highfive:
Tried on mine now, and it's working fine. I have the latest build from december 5th.
I have the MB526 (defy+)

*bump
I'm having the exact same issue. I'm running CM10 2013-01-10 (currently latest) on my Green Lens Defy.
I cannot start FM-Radio because it says it needs headphones plugged in, just like leonbrio mentioned.
Also there is no headset symbol in the statusbar. Plugged in headphones just don't seem to be recognized by the device at all.
Not sure if this is a known problem but I don't remember it happening before I formatted the thing and Messed around with it. I basically Installed gb and since voodoo sound wasn't on there I reverted. I was messing with the apps trying to figure out why it was so noisy thinking it was setcpu or a system app. Later I found out it was the buttons!
I stopped voodoo sound but it still makes the noise. Is this a known problem? I was hoping to use this as a voodoo sound music player. I put it airplane mode and all, still the same!
Which keys?
Grip sensor does that at times, try turning that off when you just wanna listen to music
On ec09 at least.
Cause tb101 modded grip to be used in music player on eg04.
As for voodoo, I don't think it has worked since dj20. Tb101 wrote something about that in another thread.
All the keys do, vol, camera, power. I had the grip sensor off, turned it on later but even before i did not motice it. Ill try off again. I use voodoo control, sorry. It works but not on gb.
Yup still messed up.
I went to sleep when it was at 15% and I woke up to it being dead not connected to wifi or anything. Btw thanks for replying, I thought it would take a few days to get a reply.
Np, wish I was more help. Hoping to be set back up in a week or so.
I've had the same problem on ec09 and eg04. It gets really bad if it is charging, either on the cord or in a dock, and it is almost fully charged. But, I've noticed that sometimes after flashing something I'll get popping and skipping in the music player and other times it will work perfectly. Right now once in a while i get four skips when I start music, but then it works fine. I know its kind of a pain, but you might try reflashing the rom and see if it helps. No promises though!

Thanks for both your advice! For some reason Odin isn't working so I'll try again later. I thought it was Superuser related so I installed supersu since it works better, still same problems. Will try again!
If your talking about the static when listening to music that always happened to me no matter what ROM I was on even with active grip sensor off its bad. When I flashed beats audio through cwm from another forum on xda I didn't notice the static anymore so maybe try flashing another audio driver and see if that helps if it doesn't just revert back through a backup.

It's easy to go back to stock so don't worry about that. Does it hiss no matter what you are listening to? What about if you are listening to nothing and you raise the volume?
Are you thinking a custom ROM or kernel? What are you listening to and what app are you using to listen?

my device still boots up as UNLOCKED
should i re LOCK my device before i send back/exchange ????
same problem here...
It started a while ago but it did not bother me because I almost always use earbuds when I want to listen to something. But now I am considering selling it to get an Asus PadFone and know it will affect the resale value.
It is a light buzz/rattle almost like a torn speaker cone. It has been in a case since new and never exposed to water
