My nook color stays not much longer than 1min after loading all the apps & just after that it reboots. I've tried installing a fresh rom couple of times & wiping each & everything but just after installing all the apps again, it reboots. Have tried both by installing it manually & restoring through titanium backup as well, but same result. It works fine only when I remove my micro sd. I know that some apps doesn't works when installing in micro sd & that's why I've installed all my apps in internal memory. I never faced that issue when I was using Phiremod v6.3 build. Recently after moving into the latest nightly build, this issue occurred. Please tell me how can I resolve this issue? I've been trying to find the solution from so many days but couldn't able to find. Thanks
You could use ROM Manager to restore the last ROM if you did a backup or just reinstall it. I am a little confused about what you mean by loading all the apps. Apps are generally loaded as you use them, not at boot up. When you first boot up you can usually see the SD card icon at the bottom of the screen before it gets mounted. It is possible the card got corrupted. If you don't have anything on it but app backups and it works fine when the card is out you could try reformatting the card on your PC or with a camera that uses micro SDHC cards.
You also might have a misbehaving app loading on startup.
When I first boot the system, the sd card icon shows at the bottom of the screen & disappears after loading all the games from it. After that I can see all my apps & games in app drawer but after a min, it gets reboot. I only have games in sd card, not a single app & neither any app in my internal memory which loads at startup.
Well if the nook boots and runs just fine without the SD-card inserted, then we can be pretty certain that something on the card is messed up. Lot's of possibilities: Corrupted .apk file, partially corrupted file structure on the SD-card itself, Hell it could also be auto-update panicking because it's trying to update an app that has yet to load off the SD-card.
First thing I would try is formatting the SD-card within CM7.
Also try turning off auto-update
If that fails, connect the SD-card to your computer and scan it with windows to check for any file table corruption.
If that fails, it's hard times ahead for you. You'll have to go through the apps one-by-one to see which one is being the little bastard.
Good luck.
Thanx for The help. But all I have on my SD card is just game. Before installing anything on my internal memory, I restored my games backup 1st to my SD card through titanium backup. It was then working absolutely fine. After that I installed apps manually just to see which app is causung error. But all were installed without any problem, used for a while then I manually reboot. Since then I am getting this issue.

Sounded weird, can agree with that. Are you using apps2sd? Try do a backup of your sd-card, format it, wipe and install ROM. Dont restore a backup or something.
Now copy ur files back to the sd-card and see if it makes any difference
Yeah, it sounds like your ext2 (or ext3/ext4) partition for apps2sd is corrupt. It may even be an issue with your SD card. SD cards are not optimized for ext2/3/4 partitions, and as I learned through running android on my Vogue, it's rare, but your SD card can become permanently damaged by using this filesystem on it.
If formatting your SD card like sinnadyr suggested doesn't work, I would re-partition the entire card, making your FAT32 partition smaller by maybe 512MB and have everything else the same size. This will obviously result in 512MB less usable space on the card, but at that point I don't think you'd have another option anyway.
(I may be off about the size of 512MB... I'm tired and drunk and can't be bothered to look up the actual size of the swap/ext2 partitions.)
If all else fails, try a new SD card.
Your Hero can be saved
Ok... I've had this... and this is how I solved it:
-save what you have to from sd to pc
-format sd
-partition from scratch
-reboot
-put what you saved previously back on
-done
sounds easy, but it actually took me AGES in between finding out and doing it.
In my case it was due to a combination of using a program to move the cache to SD AND mounting the SD card WHILE some app was doing something (APP2SD was enabled). All I know is I never used the cache to SD program again and 3.1 is now running smooth on my hero.
Good luck
Ciao
p.s. If the steps above do not seem to work just do all the Wipes, load another rom, play with it for 2 mins, then re-do all the wipes and start off. I know I'm being a bit confusing but trust me, problem will be solved eventually. Just make sure u have plenty of time when u start the whole process

There's a guide somewhere how to repartition your SD card through ADB, this is what I did when the same thing happened to me and the partitions were corrupted.
I believe I found the problem with rebooting when trying to tether/mount your sd card. If you have anything that is system related running from sd card, it will reboot when you try to mount it to your pc. I tried this a few dozen times last night and today and certain apps, like the theme I use, Rover blue. If I move it to my sd card and run it from there, I get a reboot all the time. If I move it back to my phone, it mounts flawlessly. I would suggest to anyone having this reboot problem, check what you have running from your sd card and if system related, move it to the phone and try it. Works great for me.
Is this the right forum for support questions?
I have a MT4G running 2.2.1 rooted
I have been having this problem for a long, long time. I'm at my wits end.
If I remove the SD card, plug the phone in to the PC, shut down, or restart then the phone seems to forget how to access apps that are on the SD card. They show up on my home screen as the generic android icon(all of them the same) and don't appear at all in the app drawer. Apps not on SD work fine. I can go into Astro and see the files, all of them. I can open videos, music, pictures, etc. that are on it. But if I try to click on an app that is installed to it, it says "Could not launch the requested activity." App Manager shows the apps, but with generic icons and no info and all apps show computing instead of sizes. Settings>SD Card shows the card & the sizes but won't unmount.
On top of that, it won't let me install or uninstall any apps unless I remove the SD Card. Sometimes even when the SD card apps are showing up, I still can't install apps.
I've been at this for months now. I have tried EVERYTHING every single responder to previous posts has suggested. Pull the battery, pull the SD card, pull the sim card, unmount(would freeze and not do anything), reset, format, different SD cards in this phone(found those apps fine that I also had), this SD card in other phones(found it fine, but only the apps that that phone also had), This SD card in the PC with no phone(found it fine), mounting it through recovery, fixing permissions, deleting and reinstalling things, EVERYTHING! I am so far beyond frustrated at this point I'm going insane.
I can get the apps back after dozens of tries of pulling the battery, pulling the SD, rebooting, shutting down, etc in various orders and sometimes it takes days to get them back. But to then say, "OK they are back I'm never restarting again," is unrealistic and then of course apps stop installing/uninstalling and I have to reboot. And poof, gone again! :-/
I have everything thoroughly backed up with Titanium Pro and I did a Nandroid backup before doing a factory reset, but my god was that annoying having to redo everything, and it didn't even work. I've uninstalled apps individually to see if it was a specific app. I've done the reverse and uninstalled everything and reinstalled one at a time to see if one triggered it, and it kept happening randomly, never twice after the same app.
So the only conclusions I have been able to form are that it's not any of the apps, and it's not the SD card itself. Someone please, please put me out of misery and give me a new solution!
Try new SD card.If it is still happening, try flash anther Rom.
Thanks for the reply.
Tried new SD Cards already. Will see what new ROMs are out to try.
Out of curiosity, did you format the card to FAT 32?

Yes. I formatted it on the pc and also tried a format in the phone the one time I was able to get it to unmount.
custom recovery
if you have a custome recovery try format the sd by this way try mount and unmount by recovery and say what happens
I've gone through 3 nook colors by now because the recharger cable continuously breaks and best buy refuses to simply replace the cable and instead replaces the ENTIRE SYSTEM (I guess it makes sense from their point of view), so I'm pretty experienced when it comes to rooting and un-rooting/factory resetting the nook, and when I received my latest one I decided to try a dual boot after being slightly impressed by the 1.4 update and enticed by the numerous comics now available on the nook store.
I used this method manually rooting the nook after repartitioning the internal data to the pre-blue dot packages, and finally booted up my old backup through a CWM flashable sd card, then unmounting the sd card while in CWM and then mounting my data SD card. Everything was working really well, and I was very pleased with my nook and it's improved performance and accessibility to the much better stock reading software, while still being able to access kindle and other games
But then, after leaving it alone for a couple of days, i booted it up to play some fruit ninja, and suddenly my nook was unable to read the sd card. It said the card needed to be formatted, and that unreadable file types were found, and oddly enough the stock OS said this as well. Then after a couple of reboots, it could read the SD card just fine. But then, many apps started either freezing on boot, or immediately closing on startup. I tried to boot into CWM recovery, but I kept getting an installation failed screen, and after flashing CWM i was finally able to boot into it just fine.
My only problem now is occasionally apps will again close or freeze, and occasionally the system will reboot by itself or simply force shutdown. Also, it says that my 8gb data SD card has no free space which conflicts with my 385 mb when I plug it into my computer. I'm a little confused.
If anyone could help with my app problems, that would be much appreciated.
Also, Can someone explain the differences between the Internal Storage, /mnt/emmc, and /mnt/usbdisk. I'm confused on what their purpose is considering their different data, and where the dual boot roms are stored.
Thanks and Cheers
-Meaty
You have mentioned about "dual boot".
What is the other ROM you are running now?
What is your uSD brand?
Ever since KitKat some of the Apps I've downloaded from Google Play have installed to my SD card by themselves and then are unable to run. I'll have the icon listed on the screen, but when I try to run it it will say "Unfortunately, com.edc.nyc has stopped" for example. I go and look at the app in Applicaton Manager and it's listed as being on the SD card and even though I never moved it there, it installed there. When I try to move it to Device Storage it gives me the same error. This has happened with multiple apps that I have never installed installed on the SD card before kitkat. It's like something has decided to install them to the SD card instead of Device Memory, but they won't run anyway. I uninstall them, clean things up, reboot, and try to install them again and then it installs them to again to SD and they fail to run. Any ideas what would be causing this and how to fix it? My Note's not rooted or anything.

Leave the SD card out and try installing the apps.

Thank you! That worked! It's weird it started doing this all of a sudden though. Are apps allowed to pick and choose where they are installed like that though or would Android be routing the file to the SD? It looks like the apps actually installed on the SD card too which I thought Kitkat was supposed to prevent?
