Hi, just got a Nexus S 4G and need to do something for LED notification. I wanted to know, based on others experience, which has a greater impact on battery life Noled or BLN?
I would think BLN is less of a drag but want to confirm with those who have tried both.
Thanks.
I use bln and haven't had any problems

This is a rooted NS4G though. With bln and bld (backlight dimmer).
I would say it don't affect the battery much.

I'm using NoLed, and I like it. It doesn't consume too much battery.
My settings: notification sound every 30 seconds, display blinks for 1 second every minute.

I tried NoLed but it only show notification 1 time and the screen turns off again, like pressing power button. Is that normal behavior?
Yea I haven't really seen a battery impact using bln and bld.
Thanks, I guess I'll try them both and see which I prefer.
So far, this is the only part of the phone design I don't care for.

"I just finished my test for the Mugen 1950mah (video below), and I have noticed in past chargings that it was faster by a good 15% from when I normally plug in and remove. So I figured it must be because I hit a great UV at 200mhz, -125mv on core and internal, which allows the battery to charge faster given the fact that when charging the phone stays at 200mhz. So providing the cpu with less power will provide the battery more power while charging. IIll be providing proof of this soon."

You could also do low power mode (charging while phone is off)

No, what Im saying is when charging the phone dosnt go into deep sleep, it keeps the cpu at 100mhz on the og epic and 200mhz on the epic touch. So if your UVing tHose steps you will see improved recharge times.

So do you manually undervolt whenever you plug your phone up to charge? Are you using an app that does it for you and keeps your phone from sleeping?
I have cpu master pro but removed it because it was lagging my phone out.
I UV'd 125mv and it charges noticably faster. But if I UV 150mv it takes 10 minutes of failed boot attempts to finally boot lol.

Updated to 4.2.1 with new 32 gig nexus 7. I've heard lots of people have been getting bad battery life with 4.2.1 update. Is mine good or bad? Attached screenshot.
Thanks

It really depends on your screen on time. I'd say getting 5-7 hours of screen on time would be considered good battery life.

I personally wouldn't consider that good battery life, however I'm spoiled in a sense. I never kept my tablet stock, modded from day 1. But I'm sitting at 85% right now with 4hrs screen on browsing web and xda and it was fresh off the charger. I also get over a week of standby time when it sits.

Yes which ROM and kernel are you using? 4.2.1 seems to have bad battery life. Mine is just rooted

I've tested battery usage on CM10.1 i NEAT LITE XWLSS, Below screens which show that CM10.1 use less battery than XWLSS with same time and phone usage.

Interesting, but I would like to see which apps are using the battery on each rom.
For me on CM10.1 mobile standby uses more of a % than anything else
i've changed to Neat Lite cause the battery drain on CM10.1 was really bad. maybe seeing the apps used and the % of drain is possible to analyze better this information

My battery is going better with CM10.1 than neat rom lite XWLSN, in real racing 3 i have no crashes playing offline and the battery don´t heat like in XWLSN.
Sorry for my english
for me on neatrom with stock kernel

Battery drain in CM is not so big.
Something is wrong.
What s the point of this thread? Battery life? I get 3 days with Slim bean +3 hrs of screen ON time. It all depends on how u use!! More apps more battery drain...
Dont just say u get 3 days if u use data for just 10 minutes...please use data 24hours...

I don't have any "weird" application running in the background, this happened with the original carrier ROM (telcel, México) and with a "debranded" canadian ROM.
The battery life just runs away, I've charged my phone fully and then I unplug it, leave it sitting there without touching it like an hour (just wifi enabled, no celular data at all) and I'm getting this.

6% drained in a hour without touching the device.
BTW: It's a SGH - I337M
This is my battery life. On att network. Try installing BBS and see if your getting wakelocks.

Definitely there's something wrong on mine... I'll install that and I'll let it "sleep" all night and see the results.
Thanks a lot. I'll come here again with my results.
Let BBS run at least 48hrs with no reboots to give you a full evaluation. That's what I do and I find the answer in couple of days.

So, I don't understand the application, I don't even know if I need to leave it open or what :/
I've solved it, it was the 4G antenna draining my battery life.
Do you have bad reception? Usually that causes severe battery drain. I'm glad you found what the issue is.

No, not at all :/
I'm having a funky wakelock issue. Over the last couple of days I've had a PhoneApp partial wakelock that's been running almost continuously while the phones been off the charger. Today a new one related to the phone popped up. I've attached screen shots and dump files from better battery stats so hopefully someone can help me figure out what's going on.

I also have the log cat file if needed.
Do you have any MOD that enables the Torch/Flashlight to work from the lockscreen by long pressing volume up or down? I used to have that on and it killed battery from my experience
I do have that mod enabled although I have had it enabled for months and have not had any issues with it draining battery.

Yeah I would disable it for process of elimination to see if that's the cause.
Or another route is do you remember if you restarted your phone since you unplugged it off of the charger? Try to restart your phone everytime you take it off of a charger with the MOD enabled to see if that corrects it
I don't know why this fixed it but it did. I wonder what the developer changed in the coding to cause this to be an issue now

I read that not only the long press for torch but also the long press for music controls did the same thing. Thought it would be a great idea until I read about the power drain

With the note 3's massive battery I was still finishing an 18 hour day with 40-50 percent remaining but anything that hits battery life, in particular anything that keeps the phone from deep sleeping, has got to go.
For me it's not so much about day to day battery life as it is about long term battery health
