[Q] Xoom knock-off: Too true to be good?

I know (almost) everyone is still upset about missing the steal... um, deal of the year, but does anyone know anything about this:

I saw this and instantly thought SCAM ALERT!!! But what if it's not? If it's true, this can certainly make up for missing that other deal. Also noteworthy, this is a presale. Another thing that I was leery of with the Xoom already officially in stores...

So many red flags all over this.
Besides, shipping date May 31? Yeah..

They must be working on a different calendar than we are, because you only get the special pricing before "28th Jeb"

Scam... order by Jeb? Jebuary? Oh yeah that's the month that comes after Nevember and before I-lost-500$-uary. If it's a realty good deal you are being taken for a ride.

A co-worker showed me this and I told him don't jump out the window for it till I poll the community. That Jeb part definitely flagged me!!

The name of the tablet also seems to be photoshopped onto the Xoom... It might be a scam or just a very cheap knock-off from Shenzhen. Either way, I am still waiting for my 25% Xoom

Sad part is, I was investigating this for my buddy around the time you guys were making off like bandits. He sidetracked me from my normal XDA browsing time!

I want one...I love my Xoom but this other thing has the ability to "access various types of flies, whatever the source". Take that Motorola!

If you look at one of the photos, on the back of the device they have tape over "XOOM 12".

I thought I recognized that long sleeve black sweater... He got some of the pics from these guys i think. (Look at silver sticker on third pic down). They are the same unit.

Looks like a pic from a beta version of the XOOM. My opinion, you're better off spending your money on 500 fortune cookies and playing the lottery with the numbers on the back.

I can't say 100% but I think it is a scam...I mean even knock-offs don't look 100% the same as the original.

I quickly ordered it and I got an immediate email saying that it will be shipped on Mirch 2, 2011. That was quick.
I was about to spend $500 on my weekly ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) but I jumped on this great deal instead.

I really like the part where it says that they have 90 units in stock. Then just a couple lines lower they say "Only 95 units left"! You better buy it quickly.

Buying a "LIKE NEW" used XOOM

Can someone tell me what exactly I should be checking for when I buy it? I don't want to end up with a non functional unit. Thank you.

I would check that it turns on.

Check Wifi, Check BT, Touch screen in as many spots as you can touch.
Check for previous users pictures, hopefully he had a hot girl friend.

Also, if its a 3g Xoom call VZW before you hand over any cash and make sure it is able to be activated.

Only if he intends to use 3g otherwise its not needed. I don't think anybody has made a kirf version of the xoom yet so its not too concerned yet. Mainly because it ain't widely popular and chinese manufacturer wanna make money off something like ipad cuz most people could fall for that. Back to the op, check if it turns on, check the screen and stuff, smoothness...etc hardware wise actually, such as a cracked or dusted screen

IF I was buying a used 3G Xoom I would definitely meet at a Verizon store (or call) and have it activated, before I would hand over a dime. You certainly don't want to find out down the road that the unit was reported stolen and cannot be activated.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a Verizon store where we were meeting and asked her to come over there. She said she already have Verizon's plan on it and thanked me for reminding her to cancel it.

Make sure you check for dead pixels! He could have sold it for that reason? People are idiots and you never know. If he was so clumsy to not remember to cancel his account, then I would be suspicious.

Just got it. And it is like new. Everything working and no dead pixels anywhere. Also I got the 3G version for $600 with a book like case with it. She said she only used it like 3 times.

Was she cute? Second date, perhaps? ... The first documented Xoom inspired romance?
-just kidding around. Glad you got a winner. Buying used can be difficult.

I hope this ins't a thread jack. I have an extra (maybe 2 by Tuesday) in Denver. I had like 15 orders open at various times and I just happened to get a few docks at the same time. To me, the dock is a necessary part of the experience. I'm thinking about selling my sleeve too. PM me.

Hope I'm not threadjacking either. I also have an extra one coming to me this week that I wasn't able to cancel in time. I'm located in the Northern CA, in the south bay, if anyone in the SJ area is in need of a dock.

Why are all these extra docks in the US not happy !!!!

Aren't the docks supposed to work with future transformers as well? Why not keep it until the new one is out.
I'm in Dallas looking for a dock though, PM me.

Well, he can still get full retail for the dock (or maybe more due to shortages). Might as well sell what he has now if he isn't going to get a tablet until later this year. That way he's more likely to get a dock with all the bugs worked out. It remains to be seen if firmware updates alone will really solve the myriad of problems the current Transformer dock has.
Also it keeps his options open as to what tablet to get -- lenovo and others have "transformer" style tablets in the works, so why tie himself to ASUS now when they might not be the best option for a tegra3 tablet?

For the numerous of you that have several docks available, if you'd like to get rid of one feel free to PM me a price.

Atrix Trade In

If I want to trade in my Atrix for a Nexus S or something that CAN ACTUALLY RUN LIVE WALLPAPER, what is the best way to do it? I've had this thing for over 30 days.

- Purpose of this tread is not to complain about LWP. That's why its called "Atrix Trade In" and asks "what is the best way to go about trading in an Atrix." For purposes of this thread, it doesn't matter WHY I'm doing, just the best WAY to do it.
- I know standard ways of selling a phone. Just like you can sell anything else. I'm not an idiot. That's why I asked for the BEST way to sell the phone i.e. some exchange that I may not know about where people exchange devices etc, or potential some return program through AT&T that I may not know about.
No need to be complete d$&#s.

Also, if you're really gonna sell it, Craigslist. I've sold a couple smart phones and plenty of music gear within 24 hours or less for a good price. Just make sure to put up pictures and your phone number, and if possible have original packaging and proof of purchase.

What the op means is he wants gingerbread, gingerbread brought along hardware acceleration. Hes going to trade his new phone because there is a tiny amount of lag in the launcher while using an ornamental wall paper. Well I am a ****, so I'll go ahead and say it, you are an impatient moron. And this is General Atrix forum. Development questions go in the Development forum. XDA, true, began as a development forum but has obviously expanded. Check the rest of the threads in this General Atrix forum - most have nothing to do with development. Thanks for the tip on Craig's list! I'll check that out. The lag comes in when you use a launcher with animations with LWP. LWP works, just not well enough for my tastes (I bought "the most powerful smart phone in the world" so things like this wouldn't be an issue).

The OP isn't really looking for help. This is just an attempt to take a jab at the Atrix veiled as a request for assistance.
At least that's my take on it.

The atrix general forum is filled with confused people asking for help and giving advice. There are questions about the atrix in mexico, how to enable 1080p recording, how to get better battery life. Then there is you... Asking how to trade the atrix. Just say it to yourself... How to trade the atrix...

Mine runs SPB Shell and live wall paper without a hint of lag or a hicup of any sort.
Simply put....from your short ass first post it looks like this is the biggest problem you have with your atrix.

Side track.. That's cool... I think spb mobile is pretty badass. I thought with all that hardware acceleration it would be horrible on battery but it used about as much as adw which is practically nothing.
Goes to show op, worlds most powerful phone is pretty f*cking powerful. Let the software mature, or jump ship the nexus is a great phone. Just whatever you do don't tell us

Not yet. I really like it though, so now I have a laptop, tablet, and my sensation. I think it'll take up my quick browsing from laptop away. I will only use my laptop to do rom/rooting related things..
