[Q] Recover S200 rom - neoTouch S200 General

Hi, I’m the owner of an Acer Neotouch S200. Yesterday while I was updating from Acer v2.003 to Acer v3.003c (Italian version) a black out occurred and the process stopped. Since that moment my smartphone turn on but it stucks on the Acer Logo, first screen, with the red led flashing (installation mode active?). It’s not recognized when I link it to the PC (usb cable). I read something around the web and I find this two possible solutions:
1) Flashing the ROM using the acer download tools.
2) Flashing from microSD.
1_I’ve downloaded the prog, but I don’t know where to find the .bin file that I have to use. In the v2.003 I’ve founded Extrom e Flash files but I don’t know which one should I install. The prog also says that the image files aren’t correct. I tried this metod but my pc still didn’t recognize the phone. Probably I have to push some combination of buttons that I don’t know. Can you help me?
2_Flashing from microSD requires: microSD <=2 GB (no SDHC), sd must be FAT or FAT32 (first one is better), you have to copy the .bin files and then push a group of buttons with the device turned off, then it will start the process of upgrading and after a reboot it will works. Same problem: which file should I copy over the sd? Which combination should I press?
Are there some other methods to recover my phone?
Thanks for helping me, sorry for my bad eng.
Those method were used on an Acer Liquid (1) and Acer F900 (2).

Solved. I used the Hacked ACER_EUU and I have installed the 2.003 version. Then update the device to the 3.003c. You can close, thanks.

SX56 update failure

Hi there,
I tried to run the ATT/Siemens release and it locked up. Per some advice I tried to use the tool provided here to burn the ROM from a SD card, but after I do this I just get a white screen, and my only options is to format the SD card if I insert it.
Is this a lost cause, has the PDA been damaged beyond repair?
Thanks for any help!

No, it is not. If your device still wants to talk to ActiveSync, you can just get Jeff's .exe file and run it on your PC. If it doesn't talk to ActiveSync, you need a PC SD-card reader/writer, which I think I understand you already have. Just find a ROM image you'd like to flash, either in .nbf format (as supplied with the upgrades) or in .nb1 (as saved by the XDArit tool) format, and follow the instructions on our page.
Good luck...
I tried your tool with the SX56 ROM and get the same results some other people posted here in the past: PDA boots up to a white screen and if you press or hold down the volume botton, the welcome screen partially comes up, but it's not functional.
Also I got ahold of one of your modified ROMs and tried to use that and got the exact results.

Hmmm, looks like a hardware problem at first glance...

[TUT] HP 91x ROM update (fix bricked ipaq and change from any language to english)

Hi everyone,
I offer you a safe way to recover your bricked ipaq or just change language into English.
I use the lastest official english ROM download on Hp website.
I saw some members have the ideal to patch the ROMupdate.dll to bypass the check the language of the phone ipaq 61x.
It means that we can update the phone with any languages.
I do exactly the same with Ipaq 91x.
So I upload the file for you.
Just download, extract and run hpRUU.exe
Follow the instruction and after about 20m.
You have the phone
P.S: I used this method to change my phone language from Italian to English successful. And recovery my friend's bricked phone.
But notice that I'm NOT responsibility for any damage with your phone.
Good luck
Download the rom here
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jyzy00y2yal
Good job, thanks!
Will try it out later!
is it still compatible even though my device SKU IDs is not compatible with the update?
Last time i tried i almost bricked my device.
In theory, yes
Actually, like I wrote above.
My ipaq 914c is Italian version.
It means that the SKU IDs of the phone is not not compatible with the update. ( I mean the official update!)
But we all know that there is no difference in the hardware between the ipaq 91x.
So any language ROM versions can be used on the another ipaq 91x phone.
=> WWE ROM can be used on any Ipaq 91x phone.
My Ipaq now is in English. But the SKU IDs still show that it's in Italian.
By the way, I forget to thank: Z!L0G80.

Hi,
As it was given like that, I think you should check the usb cable. Sometimes the cable is not working well. I use the original cable, because the last time I use another there was an error when it was flashing. (I'm not sure if the active syn is necessary. In my case, I have the active syn on my laptop. XP enviroment.)
If you want to try the SDBootloader you can find in this forums some instructions about cutting some bytes to obtain the flashdio.nb0
But I really don't recommend that way. Because the last time when I find the way to change the language by flashing the english Rom following those instruction. My phone was bricked. So I tried to find another way.
And this is it.
I think this method is the safest way for newbie. As I wrote above. The first time I bricked my phone. But I did the same procedure again. And it worked.
Just check the procedure again.
Good luck,
For the SDloader update (Which works very very well on my German 914c):
download the file below (I already cut the first 3432 bytes from it), put it on a newly formatted SD-card (not SDHC!) and hold down volumeup+OK button (the one on the right side) while pushing the reset button, hold the mentioned sidebuttons until you see SDloader. Then wait for a few minutes, and the update will finish!
If the updater does not find the file, you have to re-format the SD-card to either FAT or FAT32!
Rename the file to FLASH.DIO when you copy it onto the SD-card!

Hi Everybody,
@vdragon
1- what a great job, guy!
2- in reality, i have already flashed your ROM successfully for my ipaq 914c, which is a native italian version. Since the incompatibilites of different versions were resolved perfectly.
3-Grazie tanto di nuovo
I'm pretty new with this and I've been trying to update my 910 with original ROM but for some reason it gets stuck and the only way to bring it back is with a SDLoader I downloaded from here but that one is very simple and I'd like one with all the programs.
Is there a way to load yours on it through the SD card?
you can follow the instruction to cut the 3432 bytes and flash your phone with SD card.
I see that many people prefer to use the sdloader method than this one.
But the positive point of this method is that it updates all your firmwares include OS, WAN, Radio... to new version. Not only OS.

Yes it is true!
Using vragon's patched Updater the following is updated:
OS (=ROM)
Bootloader
Pre-Bootloader
Radio&Modem
This update takes about 20minutes, so be patient, do not remove any cables during update!
The flashing of FLASH.DIO with an SD-card "only" updates the OS (=ROM) and is done within less than 10minutes.
Thanks vrago for patching the Romupdate.dll!
You can also see it in the bootsplash screen. Before the update (even after SDloader updates) it always showed FW 1.04.
Now it is 1.09 - and yeah, it works GREAT and quick!
I can recommend it!! (I do not take responsibility though)
Should be a sticky!!
I've been trying this file, and I get an error at 51% of update. Any ideas?
I think it's about your cable. Be sure that you use the original cable with the anti-noise hub.
If you didn't success the first time. Try it again.
Do as you did the first time.
And just be patient. Don't move anything.
The first time I used this method, at the middle of flashing, I kicked my cable and it just stopped. And I did it again carefully.
So that's it
Actually, I think I figured it out. It seems that Vista treats USB partnerships differently than XP, so after a certain amount of time, it "refreshes" the relationship with the USB device. If you are trying to flash your phone, that stops the flash/update.
I just used my XP system, and it worked fine. After a few registry tweaks for ring volume and battery life, it's working fine.

I'm positive the SD Loader method isn't as thorough as this method. This method takes 20 minutes or so, and you can see that it's updating the pre-loader, modem/radio, etc. The SD method only updates software.
Problem using HP 614c from original ITA rom
I am a stupd guy
I am a stupd guy
I am a stupd guy
Hy vragon, i have used your method to upgrade my device 614c (and not 914) from an original Italian ROM. All process is ended correctly, all upgrade are finished without errors.
The update utility has made the update of that:
Software - From Version - To Version
Bootloader - 1.00.07 - 1.01.01
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional - 1.00.07 - 1.01.01
Pre-Bootloader - 1.00.07 - 1.01.01
iPAQ WAN Radio Firmware - 0.81.00 - 1.09.00
But after the upgrade, at the end the display was black(not really black i can see the leds of the entire display are ON but das not appear nothing), and after some minutes abouth 20, i removed the battery and restart the device but nothing has changed. The led over the screen and the sound working.
I have try also to do a hard reset with a flash.dio on an SD card inserted to replace the Rom, but dose not work!
The device after that will work properly, and das not appear to have any problem.
CAN SOMWONE HELP ME !!!
@ilconte81:
just go to hp site.
find a ROM update for 614c.
download it.
using winrar to extract everything in the exe file.
copy the ROMupdate.dll from my file to replace the file in the folder which is extracted from exe file.
run the rom update again.
Tanks for reply vragon,
i have tryed to do what you wrote, but the device will not be right recognized from the OS (will appear USB device not recognized) and the update utlity after a long time in "Plese wait while the device state is verified" give the comunication error Code 402, Cannot comunicate with device.
I use the original cable and try these on different OS like Win XP and Win 7.

Cannot flash the Acer S200 ROM

Two days ago, out of the blue, my Acer S200 F1 Neotouch went dead despite soft resets and a full battery. It is using ROM S200_2.003.01_EN_02, running WindowsMobile 6.5 Professional, CE OS 5.2.21857 (Build 21857.5.0.66) 2009. I have never updated the ROM ever since I bought the S200 last month, and have never intended to.
Twice last month, I did a clean boot successfully, but with some difficulty. Sometimes the clean boot would hang from the start, or hang at the Windows logo, or hang when installing any one of the 25 components. But I still succeeded after some struggle.
But two days ago, my S200 went dead for no obvious reason. A soft reset did not help. I can wake it up for Clean Booting, but the Clean Boot would either hang from the start, or at the Windows logo, or go into endless repetition, or hang while installing a component (e.g. 13/25, the Notification Manager). A couple of times I managed to get a basic Windows Mobile system running on the S200, but it is unstable, prone to automatic Clean Boot, and cannot install .cab files.
I did all kinds to assist the Clean Boots, including removing/reinserting the battery, removing the MicroSD card, removing/inserting the SIM card, plugging the phone into/out of external power, pressing two buttons while resetting with the stylus (or pressing three buttons, or all four buttons). Despite getting the “Clean Boot” display at the beginning, the symptoms are not the same with each Clean Boot. I find it strange that every clean boot attempt behaves differently. I thought that a hard reset would be repeatable and predictable, yet it varies with every clean boot attempt.
Finally I tried using the following two updates:
OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip
OS_Acer_2.003.00.EN_WM65_A.zip
But there would be a “connection error” just before the ROM update window. The problem is the same with three desktop computers: Vista SP2, Vista SP1, XP SP3, despite taking all precautions (e.g. updating the .NET framework to the latest service packs). I have also managed to get the Acer HS USB driver going, whatever it is.
MY QUESTION: Can I do a ROM update without connecting to a computer, e.g. by copying some file to the MicroSD card, and pressing some keys? I read somewhere you can press three buttons (volume down, camera, reset) plus the reset button to enter “bootloader” mode. What is this mode? I did manage to get the S200's LED flashing red. Was the S200 expecting a file with a specific name at a specific location on the MicroSD card?
If the S200's ROM is corrupted, can it be restored or updated? I mean, does flashing the ROM require an ActiveSync connection to the desktop PC? And if the ROM is corrupted, how can it fix itself if it lacks the ability to connect to the desktop? (It takes a healthy pda to do an Activesync.) My old ASUS can flash the ROM via the MicroSD card; I don't know if Acer phones have that feature.
The funny thing is that I am not a person who experiments with ROM flash updates and things like that, although I am semi-computer-literature (I program in Delphi to create some freeware). I didn’t intend to add fancy things to the S200; I just want a stable pda for five or six programs (e.g. a Bible program).
The flash ROM restoration/update problem seems to be a problem with Acer than with Microsoft. I think I should have bought an HTC instead. But I could not afford the Windows HTC I wanted.
Any advice? Any URL with the proper information? Thanks in advance. If this problem is solved, I will try to be useful and constructive for the XDA-Developer forums.
Benjamin
Download ARTS's rom and unzip.
Put the S200 to bootloader mode (camera + power at the same time - light will be blinking red) and then connect it to your PC. Run the "ACER_EUU.exe" & flash a new rom...enjoy...
At the begining i also got connection errors becuase i didnt used the original USB cable that came with the device. This could be a problem if you are using another cable that doesn´t have the full pin layout.
P.S. What Bible program are you using?
Thanks Stress Analyst
Dear Stress Analyst,
Thanks for your helpful advice. The problem has been solved. For the benefit of those who run into the same problem, here is what I did (I am summarizing this from memory, so I may miss a few things):
- I downloaded a file called "Arto's Sense rom 2.1 (3.003c, 23554, 2012).rar". The size is 162,841,490 bytes.
- I unzipped the contents of the .rar file into a folder.
- I put the S200 in bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera and power buttons, while pressing the reset button with the stylus. The LED started flashing red. I connected the S200 to my Windows XP SP3 desktop, and it caused the Acer HS-USB driver to be installed.
- In the aforementioned folder, I ran “Acer_Euu.exe”, and was led through a series of windows. Just click, click, click ...
- When flashed, the Arto ROM was nice and interesting on my pda, but a bit too funky for a middle-age man like me. So I decided to install the Acer update instead.
- I unzipped file “OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip” and ran file EUU_Acer_S200_3.003c.01_EN_02_03.03.08_3.003c.00_20100202.exe
- After flashing the updated Acer ROM, I checked the version number, which was CE OS 5.2.21883 (Build 21883.5.0.783). The earlier version was Build 21857.5.0.66. The new version seems to run faster than the old version. Here is what I think were the problems with the older version 21857.5.0.66:
- The old firmware does not do a Clean Boot very well.
- The old firmwave has problems connecting to the Acer update.
Arto's ROM overcame these two problems, which meant that I can use it as a temporary bridge to the updated Acer ROM.
Thanks for your help, and best wishes,
Benjamin
Bible programs
Dear BrainMaster,
I am using Olive Tree and Laridian Pocket Bible. I like them both, but for different reasons. Olive Tree is faster and has Greek and Hebrew texts. Pocket Bible has better typography and a good collection of commentaries. I find myself using Olive Tree much more often than Laridian Pocket Bible. I am not using mobile e-Sword because it doesn't work on my S200.

[Q] HD2 LEO T8585 Clone - bootloader corrupted

I flash this phone with a wrong image, and now only a black screen appear.
Is impossible to make any key combination to get to the "download screen" ?
If I try to connect it via ActiveSync, fail, nor with K3firstAid. The only thing I recognize is the Huawei PC COM port. Appears only slightly illuminating the display, and nothing more.
I pray all the masters of this kind of cell phone to tell me that there is salvation, and if so, let me explain the process the "resurrection". (excuse the Google translation)
Thanks in advance
If it's not a true HTC phone then there is nothing that can be done for it here.
No, not a real HTC, a Chinese copy of it. I've seen on this forum that many people have problems with these phones, so I thought that there is someone who will help me.

My guess is that your fake HD2 uses a different bootloader than the real one. Most issues with the HD2 can be undone, so long as the bootloader is intact. Screw up the bootloader and your phone is done for. Also these ROMS are built for the HD2's hardware and drivers. Your phone may look like somewhat like an HD2, but the similarities stop there. Should have bought a real HD2.
Why you want to flash a fake HD2 with a genuine HD2 ROM in the first place is beyond me.......

You technically don't have an HD2, as the hardware in your phone is COMPLETELY different.
So if you're looking for a definitive answer here, you probably won't get one, as there's very little relation between your phone and the real HD2.
Your pretty much screwed. Only option is to jtag, or move on.
Hello,
Recently I made a wrong flash ROM, and then I managed to turn on the mobile. I'm desperate and I hope you can help. After I returned from service, he could not do anything, I tried something at home. Basically, when I connect to the PC via USB, recognize it as a "new device", then install the IDT, then my PC recognizes it as "Huawei USB COM 1.0, COM port 7. The problem is that it constantly resets, and so at times he appears in the "Device Manager" and loses again. When he somehow managed to stabilize the relationship with the PC, you probably could I make a flash ROM via IDT. The IDT recognizes it, even after it lost 3 seconds. Obviously not a hardware problem.
Thank you so much in advance

only hold green and red button(answer and disconnec button) and switch on the phone .the phone will restore factory setting without any bin or flash file .
Just buy another clone, OP. I dont think there's enough resource available (other than some xda china portal) to fix an HD2 knock off simply because they dont have the same hardware & software as official HTC ones.

Hi there i am hoping somebody can help i have found alot of threads explaining the issue with htc hd2 white screen error but have not found a solution to help i have tried for days to load stock roms original telstra roms tried hspl3 i can not connect through windows mobile with usb and have tried flashing original roms via 4g sd card with no luck am i missing something i have tried RUU_Leo_Telstra_WWE_1.49.841.1_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.11_Ship RUU_Leo_Telstra_WWE_1.72.841.0_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship i have tried to run through adminstrator i can not access the phone settings to turn on active sync so as far as i am aware i can not do anything through usb. i get an error msg when flashing via card and it terminates the update. Can anyone help with this issue i know there are many threads none have helped me.
Thankyou in advance
There are several possible reasons that the flashing process fails. Or, as it seems, the connection from your device to the PC - which might be a driver issue.
Normally, HD2 turns on ActiveSync if you want (you can select when a popup screen offers this) as soon as the device is connected to a PC through USB.
If the flashing process doesn´t run via SD card, there are also various possible reasons: Sometimes, cards bigger than 2GB don´t work, or your card is not formatted FAT32, or the naming of the ROM file is incorrect (should be leoimg.nbh). Or, your device is not a Telstra device after all?
Anyway, in order to help, there is more information from your side needed, otherwise, it´s a bit like searching a needle in a haystack.

Try 2gb sdcard - make sure its fat32 formated.
Make sure battery its not under 50%.
Most important Make sure the rom your are trying to flash its for your hd2 ( best way its to download from htc - web support with serial number ).
sd installation
i down loaded the rom. the oiginal rom is in exe extention. how do i used it to install from sd card. i gotthe rom from tmobile with serial number? where can i downlead the seperate rom file.. any link for .nbh file
The exe is actually an executable zip file. Rename it to. .zip from .exe and you can then open it with winzip or winrar or whatever, and inside you will find several files, one of which is ruu_signed.nbh which you extract and rename leoimg.nbh and flash with.
steps to flash through sd card.
i tried 3 stock roms even from tmobile web site. it gave me a radio error and terminate. what can i do it just wont install radio..???
