Hey I was wondering if someone knew how to completly turn off the ticker display the button on the far right drives me crazy my finger will always hit by accident when watching a video or playing a game I tried to delete the ticker history apk in root explorer but the button still shows up and when I hit it, it give me a bunch of force closes. I do kind of like the clock being there but if disabling it all means getting rid of that button I could live without it.
Thx in advance for any help.

The vanilla lock can't be removed. It's part of the framework.

so let me get this straight. if i delete the htclockscreen.apk from my hero i will get the vanilla lockscreen???
Yes but it will be messed up if you're on a later sprint build. You still have to flash a fix, found on these forums.

im not on a sprint build.
edit: hahahah ok so just to see i did it. yep got vanilla, yep its messed up. kinda humorous. unlock and silence sliders are at top and bottom. despite arrows indicating left and right actions its up and down... clock is chopped as well... gonna look for that fix.
Here is one of the fixes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665652
It's a bit specific though in that it removes the clock, and removes the haptic feedback from the sliders
Battery indicator Pro has an option to disable the lock screen and it worked for me when I tried it. maybe take a look at that app...
Hi guys,
ive been messing around with JB for a while (xxls2) and noticed that you can access the notification bar while playing a game or watching a movie (anything full screen).
By: just swiping the above area (task bar) down while on full screen app. Which enables u to see notifications and turn on or off any toggle or even change screen brightness.
I havent seen anyone talk about this so i wanted to share.
Cheers

damn.....i should have noticed that ...why dint i notice that...
i wanted that feature so badly because i use opera full screen all the time and it was a pain going to home screen to check th the notifications everytime..
guess i was too stupid.to notice....
just for that you get all my 8 thanks for the day..
There is an App for that too!
if your not on jellybean and if you want this same feature , then just install an app called 'Smart Status Bar'
This will do the job!
This app is available for free !
Here is the link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiumiu.ca.statusbar.free
Yaa...I also tried it.
Its grt

Yeah I noticed this too. Then went to AOSP and realised it wasn't there.
Must be a Sammy feature.
how could I have missed that?!? :silly:

Ah, ok. Already thought I have missed something
I am using Paranoid's settings to use Phablet Layout, so that the status bar is displayed even in full-screen apps (but on bottom, not on top).
Thnk

I noticed this when i played the air patriots game when swiping the planes from top edge of the screen then i thought some bug when the bar keep appearing, so i leave them alone and then i noticed on other apps also working since about a week ago while i played the game a month ago. Ironic huh

Hey there,
I'm used to pull down the notification bar from any possible app (even games) on the sgs3.
I noticed it isn't possible on the nexus... Is there any mod or something for that? :/
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
its sdk functionality. if an app requests the statusbar should be hidden the framework has to do that in order to not get in the way of gestures and swipes on which the app relies. if touchwizz ignores that it would be a pretty evil abuse, something that should get them in legal trouble. i dont think it would be hard to realize but i know of no mod or rom who's got that.
Oh I see thank you very much for the explanation.
I got pretty used to it as it was really convenient checking my notification bar without minimizing my current app. (Change music, brightness , GPS etc....)
Oh well will have to get used to it then.
Thanks for the reply again

Miui allows this. I expect we'll get a miui rom eventually.
For the time being you could use this app:

I use it and it works great

I've seen the apps and edits to remove or replace the navigate buttons (home, back, recent apps) or even move them to the side... But what about moving them entirely to the notifications tray? Is this a bad idea?
For the videos and apps that remove the tray, there could be a hot corner or gesture to bring it back up. Should I have patented this idea before posting?

That's called tablet ui.

Patent it or not, Apple would still steal it.

Tablet UI would bring it to the statusbar. Not the notification area.
To the OP: this would be bad for accessibility. Imagine using an app that requires you to double press back to exit. You would neet to pull down the notification area twice... just to close an app.

Fullscreen app gives you two hot corners, replacing the back/home, but I found I kept accidently hitting the corners within other apps or surfing, no matter whether I put them top or bottom. I ended up using Pie Control app, customised with Nav buttons to solve the problem. LOVE the huge screen via fullscreen.

Wow sorry for my late reply everybody. Thank you for you feedback. I haven't looked at tablet ui but I will. I have installed GMDs auto hide nag buttons. I like it. Sometimes. One thing I do not like is that the menu button for apps like Chrome are automatically moved to the navbar. I know I can turn it off but the menu button is just gone. Not a huge deal but I also don't like how it is sometimes less responsive than the stock navbar. Either way, I'm still shopping.

You should try AOKP rom which you can toggle phablet and tablet UI, I've been using this feature since 4.1.
As for in app menu button, there is in option called "Show menu UI overflow" in the rom to enable it.

Not sure if there's an option for that, but you can keep it running in the pull down notification bar and as a widget on the lock screen.

Yes I know, but sincerely I hate persistent apps notifications in notification bar... I have widget in lockscreen (and from some days ago the widget has change appearance, for me is very ugly...), but I prefer use complete remote from the app... However it's not a problem to click on a button after a few seconds, but if I can skip that screen can be better... Or delete also, and keep only remote

Yea I know what you mean. I actually use IR remote as well, it's handy as it opens straight into the remote after you have used one. I know some people don't like having more than one app for one purpose but it's free and work a look.
