How come the package is so large? I know that the LTE and 3G individually are 10-12MB a piece, so 50MB seems large.

An MD5 would be much appreciated.

Included as much info as I could now!

Updated with Compressed File and Updated MD5

What are the version numbers?
If the LTE is the same as the last update and you flash it won't you brick? Or does that only apply to the actual radio?

Seems to be working fine for me, obviously can't comment on battery life, but 4g works as normal, and it hasn't crashed in the 3 whole minutes I've used it. Hopefully I'll have useful input tomorrow.

Applying the same radio twice (LTE or CDMA) does not brick the thunderbolt. This problem exists on older phones, but not on the thunderbolt.

Hate to ask a dumb ? here.... Does it matter what type of ROM you're running, Froyo or GB?

I am getting 77-78 dBm signal , that is a stronger signal.

Where you live gives different results. This is the first leaked radio that has increased my signal strength.

Getting -72 on the radio, but LTE speeds are 4-6mpbs when they were going at 12mpbs on MR2

How's the battery life/drain on this radio compared to the MR2 OTA radio?

Im getting excellent signal but my battery has drained from full charge 30% since 9:30 a.m.. my battery life was way better with the same amount of usage with the last updates radio so im going back.

After a full 24 hrs on this Radio, here are my results, so far:
1) Battery life... about the same, but probably too soon to really tell. I'm in LA, and pretty much always on 4G
2) Signal strength.. about the same, almost always connected on 4G
3) Speed... my upload is faster than before. I'm getting around 6Mb up average, and I ran speedtest probably 20 times; on prior radio's, I would get around 4.5Mb to 5MB consistently. Download still varies, between 8mb to 12mb generally.
overall, not much difference, but no downside that I can see, so sticking with this radio for now

I'm Waiting to Upgrade the Radio on Mine to This for a Few Days Until the "Official" ROM Update Release is Done...
I had to Warranty Out a Bolt Cause After Switching Radios a Few Times It Would Stay on 3G Constantly! Annoying I received the replacement and it came with the official MR2 Radio Installed and I haven't Had any Issues with Signal, Sometimes it Does Switch to 3G but I think It's Just Checking its Signals...
Any Suggestions..?

New Radio and battery life

I updated my radio earlier today to 2.42.00.03.10 and have PRL 60663. I am seeing a significant increase in battery life. Is anyone else seeing this or is it just my imagination? I'm running the new DamageControl 2.06 ROM.
I am running under the same conditions and have definitely seen better battery life.
I have seen better battery life with this radio too.
Also...I more than doubled my battery life by going into settings>Wireless and Networks>Mobile Network Settings> and UNCHECK "enable always-on mobile..."
Then I went into Settings>Location> Uncheck "Use wireless Networks", and Check "Use GPS".
With these settings and GPS on, I used my phone pretty heavily for 15 hours and had 54% battery life when I went to bed.
The only thing is that with enable always-on mobile unchecked, your phone only updates data when the screen is on, which means that it will only fetch emails/gmails when you turn the screen on. If it's idle, you won't get your gmail, but if the screen is on (for any reason)...then it'll fetch and update all your data. For me it's worth it to get my gmails a little later and more than doubling my battery life.
Hope this helps someone
I have definitely seen an increase in battery life with this new Radio.
I'm new to Radios... Since this new radio seems good, how do I go about flashing it? Is it a zip file like if I were doing a rom?

In theory they are designed to work the same everywhere. Once an update rolls out it will only be one radio, just the same as our 1.5 one was. However without a doubt, some seem to work better for people based on their area and it's always been that way on every phone. Unfortunately there is no concrete way to know which one will work better for people. I suppose it just depends on what hardware they are using in the towers around you. But I'm not a mobile network engineer so I'm honestly not 100% sure.

yea thats what i thought..because even when i ran 1.1 with the stock radio @ work i would never get a 3g sig...when i moved up to that 2.1 eris leak on got that new radio i got a substancially better at signal and greatly improved my battery and i couldnt of been happier...so when i saw the new new radio i was like wow can it even get better??? but then it was same as stock radio basically i never got a 3g sig..and i was scared about this first since the radio was i geuss for "verizon" and im now not runing the eris leak but it works great...all my co-workers on verizon always had better service than me...but ever since the eris radio i get just as much service as them btw flipz cant "flippin" wait to get 2.1 support on the kitchen!

Yea, on my touch pro I used to use a telus radio on Sprint because it gave me the best signal and speed. It wasn't the newest version or even made for Sprint, but it's what worked for me in my city!
ive seen a great improvement with this radio on 2.0d. they seem to have tweaked the bars b/c now im at 4-6 whereas previously id be 2-4, though the dbm is right around the same as always at home. i am, however, getting through the day with 50% battery left whereas before i would be 20% or less

It worked for WinMO. I used to use a Telus radio on my diamond. But I'm not sure I'd mess with flashing other vendor's radios on your hero. TECHNICALLY it should work. But I wouldn't want to be the test case.
new radio
i just downloaded this radio to see what all the fuss was about, and in my room it dropped my signal, now it keeps going back and forth to 1x now just over and over, im using the new damage rom, you guys think if i change to the newest flipz maybe it would be different. i know this sounds strange but i do feel like with certain roms i get better signal in my home, cause i tried the previous damage roms and all the previous flipz and for some reason i always get better signal in my home with the flipz roms! im just a confused soul.......

Your radio, your selection of rom. I tell you this much, put on vaelpak 3.2 RC2 rom on your phone and you def won't be having those problems. Watch that evo come to life!

I have already loaded a rom sorry I should have mention that before. I have loaded the EVO ZONE rom and ClockMod Recovery. Can I flash a up to date/ better radio with out flashing the entire rom?
Just try to update profile and update prl and see if that works. You should do that after flashing.
I did it but my 3G speeds are bad. I ran a speedtest while in a good 3G service area and was getting 0.4kbps down. I would like to go back to the stock Sense rom but dummy me didnt back it up.
I'm also experiencing the same issue(s)
I totally agree with ropodope. It can definitely be the rom, I used the original Miui and noticed I had poor reception where I would normally have good reception. It could be the radio or maybe even the kernel, my suggestion would be try different roms and kernels because you can find what works best on your phone.
Good luck.

Yes you can download updated radios or previous radios to find your trouble spot. Just dl them to your sd card and flash as you would a rom or a kernel. Wipe your cache and dalvik cache first. Wait a couple of minutes to allow the radio to write the image. When done flashing, just reboot. The radios are on here. Just do a search.

You have any suggestion on getting a good radio to flash?
You should try downloading rom manager from the market. I'm sure there is a few stock evo roms on there. If you can't find a rom that is to your liking you can check the roms in the evo 4G development forums here on XDA. Be sure to read about the roms and what others are saying about the rom before you flash. A lot of the time I find that after seeing 10 to 20 people complain about the same or similar issues I wouldn't be satisfied with that rom, but that's just me.

I love my AirRave! Def great where Sprint signal isn't avail!
Here are your radios, and other nifty updates: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
As far as 3g I have tried this fix with good results:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
To be honest, Ive had bad reception with PRI 1.77 and 1.90. Also my roms are varying day to day i try new ones.
roms i think are good are MikZ, mikG, Evokings and other sense roms.
When I got my phone in January I had GREAT signal here at work. I noticed that after I rooted it I lost that great signal. Now I'm back to 1-0 bars all day. I think something in the rooting process screws the signal, I don't know much about it so I'm not sure what that could be. All I know is before I rooted my phone I sat at work with 3g signal in the basement of the building. After rooting I'm lucky to get 2 bars in the parking lot. I ran just the rooted stock for 2 months hoping it would magically clear itself up but of course it didn't
I've tried 3 ROMS so far. Fresh 4.0, MikFroyo & VaelPak. Of the 3 I seem to get a slightly better signal with VP.

[Q] Radio for AT&T Atrix 4G with Cynogenmod 7.1 (2.3.7)

Dear all,
just updated my Atrix with Cynogenmod 7.1 build GWK74 (#20).
I noticed that 3G signal seems to be worst than the AT&T 4.5.91 stock one.
My current radio is N_01.77.30P
Should I update the radio with N_01.77.36P one or flash back the original AT&T coming with Gingerbread official OTA update?
I live in Italy and using a 3G only provider (H3G), I'm not sure if this make any difference.
Any "radio" expert advise?
Many thanks!
Max
I'm based in the UK and found that reception with N_01.77.36P was pretty terrible compared to that with N_01.77.30P. Perhaps that is just a problem with my network here, however?
I'm currently using the N_01.100.00R radio and this seems to perform on a par with the N_01.77.30P on my network with good reception.
If you have unlocked your phone's bootloader and have CWM installed, it is very easy to change from one radio to the next so it is worth trying them all out.
Maringer,
thanks for your reply.
I may try to flash a few radio (I'm going to use moto-fastboot tool or CWM Recovery).
I would be nice for Cynogenmod to introduce a sort of monitor of radio signal performances in order to test different radios e.g. for a whole day and check how it goes.
Wonder why N_01.77.36P is "terrible" compared to the old N_01.77.30P...
Anyone knows who develop those radios and their updates?
Any changelog for different builds?
Thanks,
Max
I have had an improvement with the 36P radio, so I would definitely try this first if I were you. Download for me is a wee bit faster on data, but the wake up and connect time for WiFi is much faster now. It's a definite improvement in performance overall, but the data transfer speeds have not changed much.
I'm getting much better reception with 36P, and wifi connect on wake up is pretty much instant now. I would definaitly recommend it over 30P.

Why am I getting no service when I'm out in the street?

I suspect it's the radio. I keep getting crappy signal apparently with the Panache stock recently. It's taken to a new level now with no service out in the middle of the street. Is there anything I can do than try to switch radios? Even right now, I keep getting switched from 3G to HSPA+.

Radio Issue
I have a MT4G running 4.2.2 on LiquidSmooth and I cant get anything over 3g even in areas where I previously had awesome 4g service (on stock 2.3.4). I checked my md5 and it does not match any other radio/baseband's md5. I'd really like my 4g back but I also don't want to brick my phone. Currently my md5 is showing up as 60de66c8b88d27b9a3bbae385b7f71dc and have yet to find one anywhere to match it. I am fairly new to rooting androids ( I had an iPhone for like 5 years and I just got fed up with the limitations even when it was jailbroken) I read a forum about extracting the radio.img from a stock rom but I was still iffy about the md5 not matching. Absolutely any advice would be great. Thanks in advance (and apologies in advance if I somehow posted this in the wrong place or something)

"4G" and 3G use the same hardware. None, I repeat, NONE of the available radios break "4G." What you're seeing is a difference in the icons used. Whereas the stock GB ROM simply shows "4G" when using HSPA+, the AOSP variants show 3G when idle and switch to H/H+ when data is being used. There is nothing you need to change. It's a gimmick that often evokes a placebo effect.

Thanks for the quick reply and thank you again for clarifying that. But when I ran speed test my download speed is showing around 350kb/s when I usually get around 1.5 mb/s. I recently asked my friends in the area that also have t mobile and they said they've experienced a decent loss in speed/signal just in the past month or so. So is it possible that another baseband might increase my signal strength at least? Because if it's not possible/effective than I feel like I'd be wasting time trying to fix my md5 issue.

If you're worried about the radio, download a different one, verify the md5 ON THAT DOWNLOAD and flash it. Feel free to report the speed difference, if there is one.

Constantly losing data connection

Test results:
I can confidently say after 24 hours running 2.50 radio on latest March update with T-Mobile I have not had a single data drop. Weird thing is with 2.50 I actually saw the phone downgrade to H in locations it should have. The latest March radio never went to H, it was either lte or no data.
Happens at random all day long on latest stock build. Absolutely bs. Any Ideas
same for me. After updating to the Match update, I've been having data drop out randomly.
Did a fresh factory image install. Let's see what happens. Ran the n update for a day and didn't have the problem.

It will work. Currently running sinless with AK kernel and have zero issues. I used so many Roms thinking it was a ROM issue and haven't had a drop in 24 hrs. Also speeds but 90mbs down and 40 up today with this radio. I was lucky if I hit 40 down with the March update radio.
I've been getting the same issues, now reading that radio 2.5 is helping, can you tell me where I can find it please.

Rename to radio, fastboot flash radio radio.img
On t-mobile in the LA area, and after updating to the March patch, was getting data drops randomly throughout the day. never had a problem with any of the other builds, and after flashing the old radio it works again, and no more data drops (been 2 days now).
OT question, im new on TMobile, and not sure if this is related to the radio or is because Tmobile just throttle my data, im on unlimited plan and after Flash the radio my speed was reduced dramatically not even getting 5Mb download speed, just check my usage and has 11.5Gb so far, thanks for your help
I'm a UK user on an EE 4G plan. Coverage isn't great in my area so my phone has always switched accordingly between 2G/HSDPA/LTE networks.
I recently updated to the latest March release of Pure Nexus and updated the bootloader and radio accordingly as was advised. Since then I have not noticed any improvement or decrease in signal level. However, it has been randomly reporting no data connection in apps when the phone is obviously displaying a strong connection in the status bar. I highly suspected the latest radio had something to do with it, but after hearing so many people raving about 3.61 fixing all their LTE issues I was a bit confused.
I'm about to flash back to 2.50 radio to see if it fixes the problem whilst staying on MHC19I release. Perhaps the updated radio only helped those with LTE problems in the USA?
