[Q] (Q) Default Photo/Video Naming - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know of a way to change the default photo/video naming to something like the date/time instead of the normal IMAG#### naming?
Running stock unrooted 2.3.4, if it matters.

[Q] How to change stock gallery background

Hi.
I was wondering if anybody knows how to change the stock gallery background. Without changes it seems to show some kind of blurry version of the latest photo, and I don't want that. I would like to choose my own background.
I am rooted but with the stock rom and zeam launcher. I know how to locate files with root manager and change png's inside apk's.
Help is appreciated,
Pemell
thats how it works. It takes any random picturte from your gallery and blurs it out then uses it as background. I dont think you can have a default background on that app.

That's right.
Theoretically, it's possible to set it to a static background,
but you need to make major changes in code, it's not a matter of dragging and dropping a .png in the apk.
Thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to stick to the default background then.

[Q] Removing lockscreen camera

As a matter of preference, I set the DPI of my nexus 7 to 320, by changing buildprop ro.sf.lcd_density. This sets all applications to run in an enlarged cell phone mode. I love the way everything looks, and while I know most people wouldn't agree, it's perfect for me. However, doing this added the camera to the lockscreen as well, and I can't get rid of it. I'm running Lockscreen Policy, which allows me to remove widgets, but because the device is a Nexus 7, it won't allow me to disable the lockscreen camera (probably because it's not supposed to be there).
An interesting problem, with hopefully a simple solution. Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the help this community has already given me.
fyi, I am using stock rooted 4.2.1, stock kernel. I'd really like to be able to revert the lockscreen back to the way it was in 4.1, but I don't see that happening without flashing a ROM, which I don't want to do.

[Q] stock UI q's (email split view and viewing photos)

Picked up an AT&T variant of the G2 last night to evaluate. After tinkering with it for a while (and searching here, of course) I've come up with a couple questions...
This is related to a completely stock LG G2 device. There's no custom firmware here. Stock. LG G2. Not "LG Flex", not "G2 with Flex features ported in..."
In the email app settings (settings->General Settings), there's a setting (checkbox) for "Split view." As far as I've been able to determine, this setting does nothing whatsoever other than pop up a dialog stating that "split view will be applied" (or "split view will not be applied.") (This is the STOCK LG G2 firmware... not something ported from another device.) What purpose does this checkbox serve?
I've noticed that LG has both "gallery" and "photos" pre-installed on the phone. Is there any particular reason to have both of them enabled? If I remember correctly from AOSP, "gallery" is actually part of the AOSP camera app, so "photos" is probably a newer standalone. However, it disturbs my sense of organization to have multiple photo viewing apps if they don't offer unique functionality. Any thoughts?
While I'm asking about the email app - I have multiple email accounts and I like that I can do a "combined view." However, it's annoying when I have several unread email that tapping the email icon seems to change the view to a specific account instead of leaving it at combined... Is there any way to make "combined view" be the default?
Thanks
Gary

Yoga 10+ HD: changing lockscreen wallpaper?

So I have a Lenovo Yoga 10+ HD, model B8080-F, on which I've just done a factory reset (to fix a repeated freeze issue), and which is rooted. My current annoyance is that the lockscreen background is stuck on these horrible garish bubbles/balloons, and I can't seem to change it. I've tried opening pictures and setting them as lockscreen background, but to no effect. I'm using Android 4.4.2 (this is the most recent release Lenovo has made available for this model).
How can I change the lockscreen background?

You'd think there'd be an easier way, but what I did in the end was: (1) copy the image I wanted into the /etc/localwallpaper folder, and checked that its permissions and owner were the same as all other pictures, (2) edit the customed_wallpaper.xml file to include this new image, (3) went out of Nova launcher into the stock Launcher HD and changed the wallpaper from there.
Pain in the butt, all that was.

Change default contact pictures?

The default Samsung smiley face icon that shows up for every contact by default is awful.
Is there a way to easily replace it with another image? Is there an app I haven't found, or a flashable icon? I don't want photos synced from social media, and I don't want to manually edit each contact photo. I just want to quickly replace that image with something uniform.
Alternately, what system app is actually involved here? I use DialerOne for contact management, but each entry still points to system contacts with that horrible icon. Is there a dark-themed system app available without changing my whole ROM?
I'm running RicksRom 4.4.4. I've been searching for a solution without success.
