Easy GPS Fix - Vibrant General

I found this and was able to get a fix for the first time since owning the phone.
Go to market and search for GpsRestore

Anyone else try it yet

Guys/gals,
That app has been available for months. It does work (at least for me it does) but after a few days it no longer does. Good for a temporary fix every now and then.
- Mat

That worked great for me when I was running 2.1 and 2.2 flawlessly, but doesn't work on 2.3.5 Miui though, but heck they got GPS working pretty good anyhow

I am on Trigger ROM and am not able to fix the GPS. I have tried Angry GPS, tried a different kernel, tried the CM7 GPS fix zip None worked. Will try this and see if it helps.

+1 except I even tried every ginger rom and never got it working properly, and tried this app and didn't seem to help. If you get different results let me know, all I would need then is a way to keep battery going strong..

Here is a thread started a while back. It might help

did you try the gps fix in the cm7 thread?
swyped from my cyanogenized and gingerbreaded EVO
im having the same problem, i've tried the gps fix no luck.
Evo 004 CM7 RC2
If this doesnt work, then wait because its a bug within CM7
Make sure you get a GPS lock in sense before using the EPST settings. That was my first mistake.

The "fix" didn't work for me. It did work the first time I tested after doing the fix, but a few weeks later when I actually needed gps, it did not work. I've seen others report similar results as mine.. so it seems the fix may only be a temporary one (for some, at least??). Either way, I'm sure a real fix will be implemented in cm7 soon enough... although I can't help wondering why they would have an RC2 with such a bad known issue still unresolved. I guess my interpretation of what release candidate means differs from some of the devs..

GPS not working.

I've tried Cyanogenmod, Fresh, Myn Warm, Stock sense. None of these roms of got my GPS working. Also tried the msl gps fix, no luck. Its accurate to 2500 meters (using the towers i guess) but no fix. I'm tried using the GPS status app it never finds a sat. Anyone out there that can help?
Go to sprint and get a new phone?

I didn't really want to do that. Is there anything i did that could have made me lose my gps signel for good?

Not really.
Honestly, if you have tried all of those roms, including stock, and it doesnt work, thats a sign the gps is just broken. Unroot, flash stock, and take it to sprint.
recently realized mine is broken too, nothing seems to get it working again. tried the MSL fix, tried a stock sense rom.
i have a hard time believing the GPS just broke one day. its hard for me to know when it stopped working though, or with which ROM, because i dont use it all the time. from most recent to oldest from what i remember, ive used: Fresh, OMGB, mikz 1.1, warmz, warm twopointtwo, and i forget what before that.
any help is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: read post #2 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023018&highlight=GPS+MSL
I am currently on Fresh Evo, and my GPS wasn't working even after multiple attempts at the "MSL fix". After doing this GPS Status "A-data" fix, i am now getting GPS lock in google maps!
Ill post updates, as I want to move to CM7, but wanted to make sure my GPS was working first.

Found EASY gps fix

so as many of us here i had the gps problem, and i started to not care anymore. The other day after i flashed Trigger 3.2, i also flashed some useful apps like SGS tool, spare parts etc. As i was going over those apps, i went to SGS tools, and noticed GPS fix all the way at the bottom. I decided to give it a try but didnt think it would work. I clicked and then select north-america.... and apply.
And surprisingly my GPS has been working perfectly fine since then.
So those of you who still have gps problem, try that
Hope this help

This has been posted before, it works for some people and it doesn't for others. Just like every other GPS fix out there. Not trying to be rude and I'm sure everyone appreciates you trying to help, but duplicate threads just create clutter. Once again I am not trying to be rude so please do not take it that way.
flashing the S.gps is the easiest way as I know
This is kind of random, but did anyone notice that the latest Kies update fixes/helps GPS?
With KA6, I have to manually set GPS mode to MS-Based and change the supl settings before I get a quick lock. With KB5, it works very well right out of the box. No configuration needed.
ooooohhhh

GPS Fix

This might have been up before but I am still going 2 share it because their are still people out their who tried other gps fix an nothing has worked for them. Everytime I have had a gps problem wich I have experienced with the ef02 modem as well as with the eg22 I download gps status from the market. After you download it, hit the menu an a option should come up showing tools. Click on tools an download manage a gps state. After you have done that go back into the gps program that you use and everything should work perfectly. Atleast for me a works everytime no matter what rom or modem I run.
HOPE IT WORKS

GPS fixes have NEVER worked for me. All gingerbread ROMs with various "fixes" have only allowed the GPS to work occasionally and inaccurately at that. Never had any GPS problems on froyo. Always solid there, so idk.

GPS never works after Froyo

hi all.
Ever since I went from Froyo to Gingerbread-based ROMs (and since then to ICS) my GPS has never worked.
AngryGPS doesn't find a single sattelite after 15 minutes, it just like the GPS is dead.
All ROMs I try claim to have a good working GPS, however none actually works.
The GPS lock icon, which should be blinking, is there but not blinking.
Since most people claim to have a working GPS with ICS, could it be a problem with the phone itself?
(I always try the GPS after a reboot)
Thanks for your help.
Been having the same issue, i have tried tens of solutions and flashed tens of fixes, i even opened it to try to fix it and it still doesnt work like its suppose to. Google maps never get my accurate location, its usuallly about a mile off, mapquest however is able to give me turn by turn navigation albeit its often late in its guidance. Very frustrating.
Ics has had good gps for me since day one with ics passion....
Gb had great gps after jagf on eugene's kernel

Well, I do use ICS passion right now and I did use eugene's kernel at some point in the past (maybe with MIUI, don't exactly remember).
Anyway none of them had working GPS.
My phone was manufactured at July 2010. Could it be some old revision with GPS problems? Although I did apply the hardware fix back when I was using 2.2, which did help back then.
This is why I'm sadly back onto 2.2. GPS still sucks but better than on GB.
I did everything possible to get GPS to work on GB. I've done the hardware fix, I've flashed everything possible, and the only time it worked was after each reboot, and only then temporarily.
Agree 100%
GPS in ICS is flaky. It usually works right after reboot then it's a gamble. A few times it would work for me for a day, sometimes second run of GPS Test doesn't bring GPS icon up at all.
To make things worse, external GPS support is equally bad. I have a feeling it uses the same driver/daemon.
Obviously there's either not-so-compatible driver in kernel or the API is broken.
ABC
Try a app from the market called GPS Aids. It does help for me.

Unfortunately the "donate" version does nothing but ask for donations.
I would kick in something if it actually worked, but not on speculation.
GPS at least sort of worked with stock (whatever was on the phone when I got it used) but never at all with any CM build, including with various fixes applied. It at least sort of worked with Onecosmic's ICSSGS, at least once, maybe with some fix or other applied.
A quick update : Turns out, I need two conditions for the GPS to work:
1. The phone needs to be after a reboot, so it didn't go to deep sleep
2. Data connection (WiFi / 3G) should be enabled before you try to get a lock. Even when you use a satellite-only location! I think it downloads the satellite data from the internet. When you get a lock, the data connection can be disabled.
This is the only way I could get my GPS to work in ICS. Even in ROMs that promise the deep sleep problem was fixed.
Cyanogen never let me down, I was usually using some kernel that a worked with the ffc mod, but I literally never had a problem. Also try any miui with angry GPS

I did the this (kept stock kernel though) and flashed the files from this post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550327
The trick that worked for me was to get a GPS lock as soon as the phone boots up but before the screen shuts off (see Post #26 by dark79 in the above link). Usually takes about 30secs to look but works great even after deep sleep.

same here! doing this CM9+SZ work like a charm
CM7+yagf patch
My stock roms (Eclair & Froyo) never locked satellites properly until i started using CM7 and other patches. Worked OK for me but still it wasnt a very good solution.
