wanna use it with a vodafone sim..
do i have to unlock it before rooting or is rooting enough?
and.. will 3g work on other simcards?
If you want to use it with other carriers, you have to get it unlocked. Rooting wont do anything for that

Rooting has nothing to do with unlocking. Doing one will have no effect on the other

sim unlock, thanks diagrax and illass for your answers
i'm having trouble
I live in venezuela where the goverment decided almost 7 years ago that the use of international currency is restricted, so i have no way of using paypal or any other method to buy an unlock code. I had my hands on a smart-sim, (turbo-sim) that promises to use any sim card on any phone. It worked on almost all phones i've tried except the HTC touch viva, for some reason it doesn't recognises the sim card as a valid one and still asks for the subsidy code.
Is there any method to unlock the phone without paying for it though the internet? i mean, something like changing the imei, using a known unlock code for that emai and then changing the emei back to the original? any way? please?
i wanna make it as the factory rom. can i do that?
Nope, pretty much we are stuck with root (i've been trying to find a solution as well)
same question, different day...
You can unroot it and restore back to stock rom, but your bootloader will remain unlocked. There is no way to re-lock the bootloader as of yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850
Follow this thread and it should put you back to stock excluding the bootloader.
Hey you know what'd be nice?

Why don't you just do it? If your N1 ever has a hardware issue, HTC is repairing them, bootloader locked or not.
Is there a CM7 or vanilla android rom for locked bootloaders?

cm7 no, and that'll never happen. Any custom rom that requires a different kernel will not work on a locked bootloader. That being said, there are some roms that will work on locked bootloaders but are few and far between. I'd suggest using the search button
Quit being a wimp and unlock your bootloader. You won't regret it.

Haha, lets try not to call anyone a wimp!
The best rom on a locked bootloader currently has the be Gin2JellyBean. It should be on the first page on the development section.
I want to unlock it but I dont have a credit card to use omnius

Yea but that only works if it came from the factory as being able to unlock it, you need to check in your service menu if it says bootloader unlock allowed: yes, if it says no then its pay only

I'm sorry, I didn't see where you had stated that your model was factory inhibited for the free service.

Wrong forum, the G900F is the International variant and this forum is for SM-G900V, the Verizon variant.

because I ran out cellphone in the states and a family member gave me without knowing that there were differences between these two.
and I would not say, no thanks, especially when we were going off to the airport

So you're asking if you can flash the SM-G900F stock rom on a SM-G900V? Before even answering that question you would need un unlocked bootloader which is less than likely. And even if you had one, what you propose would more than likely result in a brick.

Fair enough. You may have to wait for root to be able to modify then. Sorry for the inconvenience.

but it is possible since the bootloader is unlocked, right?
I do not think wrong?
as long i get rooted the cellphone the chances of brick the phone are minor?

Verizon Bootloaders are NOT unlocked... I don't know where you found that, but Verizon has not offered these phones unlocked to my knowledge.
