So my xoom is still stuck on 3.0.1 why wont it update? And is there a way to force it to?

I wouldn't expect the Canadian update any time soon. The google buyout seems to have put a hold on the android updates Moto was releasing for non-US customers. Just last week on the official moto forums we were told if we want 'early' access to it, we should sign up for their testing program. What does that tell you? Nevermind it's almost the end of august now.....
Rob
I!m in canada as well, just root and install the hammerhead rom that's around. I have a smoother device for it and have absolutely no regrets!
Some user on the official moto forums said the Canadian OTA 3.1 update is live now with working sd card support (r/w). I can't test, I returned my Xoom and got a Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Rob
Canadian 3.1 OTA updates are indeed live. My 3.0.1 Xoom just now offered to upgrade itself to 3.1.
"Your tablet has been upgraded to 64.0.20.en.CA version"
Yup mine just updated today. Crazy timing
were you guys rooted with tiamat kernel when you updated?
I got the update but I hit "later" to make sure I:
1) don't lose root
2) don't brick due to custom kernel
Any thoughts?

Don't try to OTA update if you are rooted/with or without a custom kernel. Being just unlocked appears to be ok.
The Tiamat ROM has been known to cause some issues with the OTA updates, but that is due to the nature of the device being rooted. A few members have experienced bootloader issues where the device will stay stuck on the Honeycomb boot animation.
When that happens, all you can do is wipe and restore. You shouldn't have to do that now seeing that both Tiamat and the official US ROM are now up to 3.2.
I'm not on the Tiamat ROM, I have the kernel only (3.0.1 official from google, bootloader unlocked, rooted and running Tiamat Kernel 1.3.2)
I should wait then?

I would say yes, don't do it, but if you want to experiment, just make sure you are prepared to come back from a soft brick.
yeah I'll wait I hate starting over... I'll wait for a patched update.zip or something!
Thanks (hey at least 3.1 for Canada is finally out... 3.2 is out for the U.S. and 4.0 is coming... geez)
Can't wait for 4.0.

I can confirm this. Downloading nao!
For those of us who rooted our device and want to update OTA, what are our options? If I wipe my device, does that eliminate root which will allow me to update OTA?
Any news on 3.1 Canada? I get a popup every couple of hours and I hit "LATER" everytime ... waiting for the right way to do it

They usually release only to a few thousand at a time the first few days, then up to 10,000 a day a few days later or something like that, so you might not get it till next week if its truly coming out.
They also have typically announced the update in the Verizonwireless.com forums under the android\incredible section. Until you see it there I would consider it a rumor.
Im just wondering if we will even get the ota if we're rooted or if we will have to unroot first.
According to this, the update is for real:

gonna have to unroot to get updates.
EDIT: I take this back. It depends on your version. If you have an older version of software and you have not turned off notifications you will get the notification to update. If, however you're running a froyo ROM then my understanding is that you won't see the update.
Been on all the android forums today , so far nobody has gotten the update OTA.
If it was out today vzw would confirm it like they did when we got the first update.
All I heard today was a friend of a friend got the update , RIGHT !
Verizon hasn't released the "official" OTA, but there is a leaked version that people are downloading and installing. It appears to be authentic, but since not an OTA may affect future Radio updates if you install it. Plenty of info over at the Droid Forum.

I'm really anxious to get the update, but I'm going to wait for the OTA. I updated my Eris with a leaked OTA, and I ended up regretting it. It made rooting much more difficult, and stopped me from getting the final OTA.

Do you know how it stopped you from getting the final OTA? i would think if you wiped and went back to a stock ROM the network wouldn't know the difference.

Nope. Known issue with the Eris leak.
Well, I'm not sure if if I have the OTA or not, or just part of it.
I rooted with the original instructions, then updated everything with Unrevoked 3.1. Stock ROM installed, have working WIFI tether.
Yesterday, got a message in my notification bar that a Verizon widget was available. I can now add a new Data Usage widget to my desktop, which says "Data Usage 0.0/0 MB Estimate as of N/A". Not sure why it isn't updating, but it's possible that it's related to me having a corporate rather than a personal account.
Never got a prompt to install any OTA. Tethering still works.
Hardware version 0002, Firmware version 2.1-update1
So maybe the Verizon widget was pushed by itself without the full OTA since I don't have the standard recovery?
FYI, the OTA has been halted in favor of packaging it up with the official Android FroYo v2.2 update. So instead up two OTA's we will have one OTA to rule them all!

No, the recommendation would probably be to hold your horses and wait till the OTA get's patched so we can simply upgrade without any hassle.
HI All,
For those who could not update to version V8.4.4.11 OTA, you may now download the V8.4.4.11 directly from Asus website: http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
follow the instructions from the attached pdf file...
I just tried it and it worked!!! But I lost my root though... I will root it again when I get home...

Thanks Mike,
These manual update files just posted on their site this week. Odd when Asus announcing the TF HC 3.2 starting its rollout tomorrow 7/28...
With the news of the official Honeycomb 3.2 OTA starting tomorrow, if I reloaded with this zip, I'm wondering if it will restore to stock 3.1.
Right now I'm running Revolver 1.1.3 ROM with CWM recovery. I think I would have to reload stock recovery first though then load the zip from Asus's site. That way I can get the 3.2 OTA update when it's pushed out.

If you have rooted using nvflash, then you might be ready for a big shock. I have been trying for days now and to get an OTA ....in vain. it seems that nvflash changed something. the only way was to flash the ota manually now. right now, back to stock i am still on the 3.0.1 rom waiting for a miracle. ( and to clear thing up, when i bought my tab, i did get the .11 update on startup.so the thing that the update might not have hit me is out of question)

Perhaps Asus aren't offering it to you because you are logged at their end already having got it? As usually you wouldn't be going backwards, once you have it, you won't need it offering again.

yes. you have a point here but imo i dont think this is the case. users who have used the previous pure root method recorded no problems whatsoever unrooting and still receiving updates. please understand that i am not critisizing or anything. i am just looking for a solution right now for a 2nd transformer which i intend to pass to someone who wont be loading customs roms.....)

I would suggest going the custom rom route. This is the one that I installed, and I am so happy that I did: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203635

I don't know if this will come out anytime soon, if at all. Remember 3.1 came out for US Xooms back in May (yes, 3 months ago!), followed by the 3.2 update in July. Source codes haven't been released yet, so rom cooking is not easy to do right now. So far, only the Tiamat team have been doing it, and I'll say that they have done an amazing job given what's available. They have designed a universal rom, that works with Wifi and 3G Xooms, both US and international models
The problem with the official Canadian 3.1 update is that it seems to be a mix of the US 3.1 and 3.2 updates. There are features, like the external sdcard, which are in the Canadian 3.1 update, but weren't available in the US until 3.2 update. So I would be very cautious about trying to "patch" the Canadian 3.1 firmware with anything from other sources as there is going to be some compatibility issues.
Honestly, I wouldn't wait on any kind of patches to come out for Canadian-only firmware. I flashed my Xoom with US firmware back at the end of May, and I am so happy that I did it, as I have been getting the latest and greatest custom roms/kernels/etc since then.
It has Sd card support I'll have to give it a try. I might be able to release a deoxed zipalinged update flash. Not sure if I'll have time but I'll try.
Dear all,
I was running rooted 3.2 version on my US 3G Xoom, when I received a notification about the HTK75D update (HC 3.2.1). Then I reflashed the stock 3.0.1 and gradually went through all the offered update till I received actually the HTK75D thing.
Yep, but I've lost my root! And I tried to flash the rooted boot img for stock 3.2, but it caused a wifi connection error to my Xoom.
If you are aware of a rooting method for HTK75D update (HC 3.2.1), please tell me.
Thanks.
P.S. I did not send my Xoom in for 4G LTE upgrade, if that matters

What you should probably do in the future is research the upgrade before you cause yourself the headache. That update is for pay-as-you-go customers on the Verizon network and will eventually be rolled into whatever rom-de-jour you are using.
In other words to those reading, think about waiting for the guy whos cooking your favorite rom to impliment these changes so you don't have to go through headache

Have you installed the incona tab update enhancement from the play store
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the reply, yes i had installed the update enhancement from play store.
I have now solved the problem so i thought i'd share what i found.
The problem I had:-
I was rooted, but wanted to go back to stock to try the stock OTA ICS. I flashed a stock 3.2 full package from vache's page. The one I went with was 7.006.01_com_gen1. Carried out successfully, however no updates available when doing the system update search. waited a week still nothing, even tried factory reset to clear everything out.
Solution:-
I got impatient so flashed the unstable 3.0.1 rom intending to root again.
before rooting i tried flashing other stock roms (no reason it shouldn't work i reasoned). Successfully flashed full package 4.010.38_com_gen1 (vache's page). tried OTA updates from there and it was successful!!
OTA'd to 7.006.01, then 7.014.01, then on to ICS
Conclusion:-
the difference appears to be the version of android 3.2, I can only assume that 7.006.03 isn't supported in the UK where as 7.006.01 is. If i'd flashed that one in the first place I assume the updates would have worked.
Hey, can you point me to the files and instructions on how to get this done? I rooted it to 7.006.05 long before using thor rom I believe. Not very familiar with the rooting game, but I'm still unable to get ICS update OTA.
FYI, Acer a500 8gb model US.

My understanding from reading around a few threads is that OTA tends not to work if you are rooted and/or running CWM. Not sure on process of un-rooting as i've not done it. But i'm guessing one solution would be flash a stock version of same rom, then do OTA updates.
