is there one out?
i dont want to have to sbf to 2.3.340 or sbf 4.5.596 just to do the ota to get back to 4.5.602 each time?
there should be a 4.5.602 by now shouldnt there?
There's never an alloted time between when an update gets released and when we get the SBF file.
We can hope that it will be leaked soon; however, it may just be as well that you use the .596 SBF then update as the update file isn't large, and you wouldn't be able to obtain root either way.
If you're interested though the hour that one becomes available I will announce it here on Droid X General =D

is there really gonna be an SBF for such a small update? It's an 11mb zip file that mainly updates the baseband.

i dont know.
if you are on 2.3.340 (OTA) and you then check for updates....does it find the .602 update and update you directly from there or dies it update you to .596 first then restart your phone and check for updates again and finds .602 and updates you and restarts your phone again?
if it goes straight to .602 from 2.3.340 with only one restart then that would mean there is a single sbf for .602 that is probably around 110MB wouldnt it?

I agree with the above post, it doesn't seem that a large SBF file would be released for such a small update; however, with Big Red you can never be sure. Until someone such as p3droid can confirm or deny that we will be getting an SBF file we will just have to wait.

do what i just mentioned in this quote
I don't think it will jump you from Froyo to 602 GB. The OTA download time was really fast so its really a minor update. But stranger things have happened.

your download time was QUICK because you were on 4.5.596
try it from 2.3.340
no offense but if i'm going back down to 2.3.340 i might as well install CM7 so i'd rather not.
I did notice a strange thing though, the white 3G icon is useable since I updated to 602. Its almost like its a weaker 3G indicator but still 3G and then there is the normal blue 3G icon. and yes the 1X still shows up so its not a replacement for that.

well then dont imply that since the update was a small update that it must be 2 seperate updates and then i wont say go back to 2.3.340 to see if there is only one update to 4.5.602
i already know that.
that is why i started this thread.
no need to get snippy, I can imply what everyone is saying and has posted, its a minor 11mb update for GB. So if you are on Froyo it will do nothing because it updates issues within GB. Just like if you were on Windows XP and a minor update for Windows 7 came up it would not affect you or bring you up to Windows 7.

When .602 first came out it was a seperate 11 mb file for anyone coming from 2.3.340.
So if you checked update on froyo you downloaded the large .596, rebooted, checked again then it downloaded .602. Now if you do the same, it will download the large combined .602 directly if your are on froyo.
I would like an SBF also.

I've not flashed it, but the links are currently working.
There's An App For That
For those of you who don't make it in time to get the SBF before it's taken down, don't worry. If you have the TBH app, you are good to go. Not only do they have the 2.3.32 update, but also the 2.3.32 SBF in case you wish to go back. Thank God for TBH. Way to go guys - don't know what I'd do without you.
Enjoy everyone! You're welcome.
We normally discourage openly posting the content from the TBH app but this is an exception in order to make this file available to anyone who might need it.
Thank you for posting links back to MDW and promoting the use of the TBH app.
Good luck and happy droiding!
does anyone have the 2.3.23 update.zip, all the links are dead on MDW. i got the new 2.3.23 sbf file but need the update.zip so I can get onto 2.3.23
I need that zip too. I was able to sbf to 2.3.32 but the bootloader version stays on 30.01.

You can also get it from the TBH app, with the nice upside of supporting TBH

just flash the sbf without updating, worked like a charm coming from my bricked DX.
remember to pull the battery after you update when the droid x animation begins to boot loop. then hold the home button when booting up again, then data/factory reset from the recovery and select reboot system now.
z4root works, confirmed. just installed Fission 2.3 just minutes from sbf'ing 2.3.23.
It's important to remember that flashing the SBF will not update the bootloader whereas the update.zip will update to 30.04 but will not update the baseband.
That is the primary difference as well as the update.zip being rooted and deodexed with busybox installed.

The SBF has a baseband update in it, but for almost everyone it won't matter because the baseband hasn't changed from 2.3.15. I think only people still on eclair or the froyo leak were the only ones who are behind on the baseband.
Found this on my twitter feed just spreading it around.

if you're on tranq 3.5.1 you're already on .340
I guess I am glad I didn't upgrade to .320
Sort of....
I had no idea Tranquility 3.5.1 had 2.3.340. I donate to several ROM teams (why not) and I am looking to see what Team DeFuse does with Fission 2.3->2.x build, hopefully it will include 2.3.340 soon. I really like the speed of their ROM.
so basically this .340 update is the same as the leak version? so if i manually somehow updated to this .340 am i able to use the latest sbf file?
3.40 is not the same as 3.20!
Personally, I'd like to know what the difference is between the two. I have the 3.20 leak and the 3.20 sbf but can I use them once i go to 3.40?
If there is any difference in .320 and .340 (beyond Madden of course) it isn't readily apparent. Someone can try doing a diff on the system files between Tranq 3.5.1 and stock .320, but the bootloader and kernel are the same. The baseband hasn't changed at all since 2.3.15.
When is the update going live?

My question is, will I see the update?
I have flashed the leaked VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_1FF_01.sbf, I am not rooted and haven't removed any apps.
If u updated with TBH leak version you will have to wait for there patch or fix or whatever it is they are doing before you will be able to get the OTA.
I just got the DX update. I never signed up for the feedback network either. I pulled it.
Anyone know if we should hold off? dont want to lose root for good....
can you post the zip please?
Installed the update and lost root. It's also rebooting into clockwork recovery after powering down and back up. Reboot system option works. I was just rooted, no ROM or themes.

I want to get off 2.3.13 and go to back to OTA updates, Ive tried searching and finally gave up........I want to download a SBF to get me back to stock so i can get the latest version. I believe my phone was on 2.2 OTA, bootloader version is 30.03.
I have RSD 4.8, Im rooted, have root explorer.
Long story short I deleted some factory .apk's and I flashed this SBF (2.3.13) to update OTA......not realizing it wouldnt fix my problem. Learned my lesson and to turn them to .bak's next time.
please help!
If it's some bloatware you can always get it back on the moto page

If you're on the froyo leak, you need to flash back to 2.1, then take the OTA updates
If you are on boot loader 30.03, then you need to flash the sbf 2.3.15
oops, didn't see the bootloader was posted, my mistake, 2.3.15 is the correct sbf
I thought there was some bootloader problem thats why i put the info in the post.
Thank you guys, can someone PM me some info on where to find the SBF for 2.3.15.........Ive had no luck googling it.

Do I need to go to something before .602 and update OTA?

SBF to .596 or .602, then update to .605.

Update 4.5.5.621 is live and breaks the ability to SBF back to an earlier version.
Only take the update if your willing to lose the ability to SBF. A fix is in the works but there is no ETA.
If you decide to update, there is no way to root, but OTA Root Keeper can be used to retain root.

I was on stock .605 with 1 click root then updated with the .621 OTA and after it was done I still had root. Verified by running Root Explorer and Titanium Backup.
Update: After reading a response to this post I decided to try and see if I could get root access with any new apps that were not installed prior to the .621 update and I have discovered that I cannot. So user trebuchet76 (the one that had questioned my results) had the right suspicion that I didn't really have root anymore but rather the apps I had installed prior to the .621 update that had root kept it after the update but new apps will not get root access.
I can't install the update

I'm running Liberty 3 ROM, and am quite happy with it. However, I've seen this SBF issue posted here and other places.
A few questions:
- can I update without flashing back to stock .605 (understanding I need to use OTA root keeper to keep root access)?
- once I do that, will I need to flash Liberty back on the phone again?
Basically, my DX was a total piece of crap until I switched off the Verizon stock .605 update. I would rather not lose the freedom I have now and be forced to stay with Blur and whatever other bloatware is installed by Verizon. In all likelihood I'll be upgrading in a few months anyway, and Liberty has made my phone not only tolerable, but fun again. I'd rather skip the update entirely than go back to the stock ROMs from Verizon.
Actually, my next phone choice will probably be based on how easy it is to root... ;-)

You can strip the red and black wires in a USB cable and place the exposed copper to their respective battery terminals while the battery is in the phone.
This will allow you to SBF the device.

Just thought I'd share this.............
So yesterday I figured I try to get root back and if anything it would brick the phone and there was an sbf to get it back. At least to .621 stock. Well I did the one click root ( droid3 i believe it was, with of course with droid 2 bootstrap ). So it put my phone back into clockworkmod and I was able to wipe everything including the dalvic cache and restored my phone to a backup I had from stock .605 that was rooted but no rom installed. It actually worked no brick, no nothing. So I ran the D2 bootstrap and went back into cwm and restored to another backup I had with liberty 2.0 running.....and that also worked. Now, I was surprised it actually worked so I went into about phone and confirmed! It did say .605. So I was ecstatic!
I was prepared to brick my phone (which wouldn't be the first or second time anyway) but glad it all worked out. Now im back to being rooted and running 4.5.605.
