I installed Cookies Home Tab 1.8 and selected the CHT unlock ( i think that's what it was) and was asked to unlock the phone if I had it locked. I thought I did and it rebooted and now I am left with a keyboard screen and I can not unlock it. What can I do??? I need my phone for work!
Hard reset
Thank you. That's what I finally did but it took a while because I couldn't even turn the phone off. Eventually I was able to turn it off.
Hello guys, I bought a A500 few days ago and I was trying to delete some native applications when suddenly the tablet turned off and started to show a image of a android bug with the stomach open and a red triangle with a exclamation mark inside, I have tried to reset by the small hole and the power and volume sequence, but so far nothing happend. I think that I changed some kind of permission while trying to delete the applications. Isn't there anyway to revert this action? Any kind of recovery mode or something like that? It is 4 AM here and I'm desperate, I can't do anything. It only turns on and starts to show the little bug and then turns off, and turn on again. I tried to connect it to the computer but It doesn't recognize it.
Any guess?

Yep. You fubarred it. Hope you made a recovery backup? Cause you will need your UID number. Go to the dev forum, and check the thread on getting your UID. First page so you can't miss it. Only other option is to get an update.zip, copy to ext SD, and boot holding volume -, and then pwr and see if it installs.
I assume you are stock rooted? Or did you install an updated unlocked ics boot loader?
if you have a card reader put the sd in it and place the update.zip through windows , then reboot into cwm and install ,if you dont have recovery , do the trick with protrait mode that should help you get back to where you need to be , I formatted my sd though the card reader ,but you dont have to
Hey guys, thank you very much for the help! I flashed a stock ROM that I found here by putting the update.zip file on a external SD card and pressing power and -volume at the same time. Now I'll just have to update to ICS.

No problem.
Do us a favor though, get your UID number before you go messing around with ICS and unlocked bootloaders. Write it in a safe location. On the box or on your pc.
Or go over to the DEV section and READ ALL THE INFO YOU CAN! Pretty much anything by MD,Civato,Skrillax, blakthdr ,vache and Thor if you can find him, thats not all of them though
Where is the tutorial to get the UID number? I can't find it in the dev forum.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum and am seeking help from the community.
I attempt to encrypt the device with a 5 digit PIN. I get as far as the Android Encrypt logo screen however there is no progress bar or percentage complete. Once the phone's screen goes to sleep (2 minutes after initiation of encrypt procedure), I awaken it and I am immediately brought to the unlock screen to enter the PIN.
I enter the PIN and it brings me back to the Encrypt screen, again with no progress bar/percentage.
This basically can go on forever until I reboot the phone.
When I reboot the device it simply starts up as if the encryption procedure was never initiated. I enter my PIN and check the Encryption settings which show as if I never attempted/initiated encryption.
I then figured maybe it has something to do with the screen turning off so I went into Android debugging settings and enabled "Stay Awake". I attempted the encryption procedure again with the same results with then only difference being that the screen would not go to sleep which meant that it would remain in the Android Encrypt screen until I manually turned the screen off and on. Otherwise same exact result...its as if encryption process isn't starting and is only showing the encrypt logo screen.
I suspect it may be related to the CWM recovery image from information I gleaned from other posts involving different phone models/ROMs but I am not sure how to verify this or address it.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thank you!

Had the same problem
I had the same problem a while ago and the solution that worked for me at the time is here.
But I haven't encrypted my phone in a while, so while I think the solution would still work, I haven't verified it.
My Nexus 7 2012 WiFi 4.4.2 started acting flaky a couple of weeks ago, randomly shutting down, etc. Anyway, it finally got to the point that I decided to just go back to factory settings. This resulted in it not booting past the "Google". Long story short I am now at the point of trying to flash it from my PC.
Nothing I do will get it to unlock the bootloader. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this as I have read every thread on this and nothing works, I just find myself going in circles. I have also read where one does not have to unlock the bootloader to flash it, but I have come to the conclusion that is just not so. Or at least I have not found a post that describes how to do that. When I try to unlock it it say in the upper right on the device "unlocking bootloader......" That's it.
I should also mention that I don't remember if USB debugging is on or off. Of course it dosn't matter 'cause I can't set it now anyway.
So I guess my question is, could there be a hardware issue that would put it in this state? I hate to just drop it in the trash without doing due diligence.

Hey guys,
I've got a device from a friend with the exact same problem.
I would like to try to flash stock fresh with the nexus tool kit.
The problem is, this old nexus 7 (2012) is still with a locked bootloader.
I cannot start the device, it won't go past "Google", I can access fast boot, and the Toolkit can find the device and all.
I also get the "Unlocking now..." in the top left corner after I accepted the unlock with the power button, the device shuts down a few seconds later. According to the Nexus Toolkit I need to boot the device and finish the unlock in the developer options, and there goes my problem... I cannot start and finish the script as the device is not booting at all, apart from the fastboot ofc.
Is there ANY way to unlock the device without being able to boot up the device?
One more thing, when the Nexus toolkit sent a restart command, the device will just shut down, I have to start it manually again.
Hey guys,
So today I rooted my T580, 7.0 for the first time using this guide and I installed couple of apps I saw most people were using including some xposed modules.
Everything was working just fine til the moment I decided to add 'Draw unlock pattern' on my tablet to unlock it.
As soon as I put it to sleep and tried to unlock it, it just won't unlock, even though it recognizes the pattern is correct.
I draw the correct pattern, it hangs for about 2 seconds it puts the tablet to sleep again. I can't even shutdown the tablet because it asks me to draw the pattern.
What can I do to fix this?

Hold the Home, Vol down and Power buttons for about ten seconds. As soon as the screen goes black, switch your finger from the Vol down to the Vol up button. This should put you back into TWRP where you can reflash and start over. You have to be quick shifting from Vol down to Vol up or the tablet will boot to download mode instead of TWRP. If it does, then do the same thing again but switch faster.

If you have twrp installed its pretty easy to remove the pattern lock.

Thank you everyone, I was able to use the TWRP and restored a backup. I thought it was some app incompatibility but apparently none of the secure lock-screens work with SuperSU, they all mess it up and I end up restoring the tablet.
