just bought this bravo(used one), the phone was up when i bought it, when I did factory reset and restart it, since then the screen is stuck NO SIM CARD, FOR EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY.
how do I pass this screen? please helppppppp
Go into stock recovery and select tools. Then start adb
Pull system/buildprop
Then add the deblur lines in my deblur post
Or sign in with Wi-Fi
Might work... sounds like its not reading your sim card?

My Defy keeps restarting a few minutes after I have entered the PIN for my Sim
I haven't rooted it or anything.....

I've tried that as well, then went through the painstaking "enter log in details" on motoblur etc, but the same thing keeps happening
Did your phone company cancelled your SIM card?

if you disable data in your phone, it reboot ?
I have upgraded my DEFY from CM7 to CM9(14May20120) but after upgrading to CM9 I am not able to get network signals anymore...this looks like problem with baseband...i do not see Baseband for India...
Can anyone suggest What could be the problem?
same problem
I tried to upgrade from CM7 to CM9 5.14 build, and I have exactly the same problem!!
What do we do now???? It really is an emergency when your phone dies...
downgrade to cm7 if it does not work. cm7 is the best rom for defyt

From the other thread..
At first after installation, when it restarted for the first time, it asked me the pin code of my sim card, which is totally fine. But it went to a loop asking me the pin code when I enter the correct pin code. (Don't doubt the code, I tried to enter the wrong code and it didn't allow me). It just wanted to start the phone with the right code but then the pin code request popped up again.
And then after a few tries. I restarted the phone. Now the phone never detect my sim card anymore. It's like I haven't insterted a sim card. Only wifi works fine...
It really is a emergency...I have lost access to all contacts on my phone...
Thank you very much...

what's yours frecuency? if you can't see "india" look for the frecuency e: 1900/850/2100
just select china baseband with 850mhz to 2100mhz..
it always works..
After installing baseband switcher and selecting India baseband it started working...I am going to observe it for few more days..will post you results.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
Yeah Baseband switcher will work I even had to use it on CM7.2 as I could set it in the options it would say reboot to apply. When rebooted it would be the stock baseband and it would never change.
Baseband switcher app fixed that problem though
I used for complete day and found few disconnections. I need to reboot the phone to get it working again.

Hello... this is my first post... and I did search for a solution but was not succesful...
I have a 1 month old s4. I got some water on it so I let it dry out for a few days and it turned on again.... but now it will not recognize my sim card... it says please insert sim.. when I try to turn on mobile data...it says insert sim card to access network.
The weird thing is the sd card tray works... and they are in the same assembly. The whole sim and sd tray assembly was replaced. Still no luck.
I did go into about device. And this is the information I see :
Android 4.2.2
Baseband unknown
Kernel 3.4.0-453947
Imeo unknown.
This is not a stolen device or anything... the water sensor is red.

Was the phone rooted? If it was, did you make a backup of the efs folder?

No it was not rooted....
I never modified anything

You can waste time looking for fixes for this an such, save yourself some time, and use ODIN and start over, back in business.
The Ax says Good luck and good day!
Ok... I will look up odin and see what happens...

Shouldn't matter though. Its turning on.

windows does show my samsung sgh-i337 under my devices...but kies does not.
it says this device is not supported by kies 2.0
make sure that your device is supported and try again.
ive now downloaded odin, and am downloading the firmware frrom samsung-updates.com.
it gave me 2 options, stock firmware, and kernel... i just picked stock firmware.

HI also have a S3 i9300 that went into water and now it dosent recognize sim cards and has the imei null/null and baseband unknown problem. Did you manage to fix it on your phone?
Another xda contributor says there is nothing we can do and that it cannot be fixed with those boxes that those guys who unlock phones have, not even by samsung... Is this true? I ordered a SIM/SD tray replacement on amazon but I bet that won't help at all...
Cheers
Guys, you may want to try this before going forward with anything hard...
So, this same thing happened to me. I had Valhalla Black flashed on my phone, it started to glitch (reloading the home screen every 3 seconds or so and not loading any apps), so I did a CWM restore and it went into a boot loop (the splash screen would freeze and never load the ROM).
So, I used Heimdall One-Click to flash the stock Gingerbread ROM, and my IMEI/etc were all unknown. I saw all these options to use hex editors and stuff to redo the nv_data.bin file and was just about to do them...but...
I decided to check and see if it was the SIM card that went haywire. I put the SIM into another phone and the phone ended up getting service, so I thought, "Oh, sh**, I'm screwed...I'm going to have to do all this IMEI repair stuff..."
In the end, I put the SIM back into my t959v after taking it out of the old phone I was checking it with...AND BAM, IT WORKED! IMEI and everything are back and I'm getting service.
Point of the story: check your SIM card in another phone and see if you get service, then put it back in your other phone and see if you get service again.
FU** YEAH!!! No tough stuff afterall! Reflashing Valhalla Black and restoring apps, settings, etc. from Titanium...
I have no imei. I side loaded NB1 firmware. Noticed it was gone. I got the stock tar and loaded that from odin. Still no imei.
Any ideas?

Sorry found out today its unlocked. My friends tmobile sim worked
unknown baseband & IMEI
I only downloaded the Active apk and didn't have a chance to use safe strap yet (to busy) so everything was working fine for almost 2 weeks then wifi went out (it would try to connect but never could) then within the next 24 hours the S4 Active quit recognizing the Sims card. Now i show no baseband version or no IMEI number (just about everything says unknown). Can someone please help me with this or point me in the right direction because I have had to go back to SHE I337UCUFNB1 and I can't root it at all. But I would take either one rooted I just have to send one back to att ASAP. Thanks in advance and sorry if posted in wrong area. If it is in wrong area just let me know and I'll go to the right area. Thanks again.

I have an sgh-i337 with no baseband, i've tried to flash first with: I337_UCUFNB1_Modem_RockRatt, then with I337_UCUFNC1_Modem_RockRatt but in both cases i still with no baseband, somebady could help me?
any way to do it guys??
after factory reseting then booting new rom it automatically sends some things through the net and charges me??

You can call your provider and tell them to shut it down completely or you can remove your sim card.
Ok, I was on a custom ROM for LS980 and all of a sudden it rebooted and I had no control of anything. There was no service either.
So first thing I did was a reboot. no good. Then I went booted into TWRP and restored my last backup, thought this would surely fix it but nothing. Still booted but had no functionality, plus now it started to go into a boot loop. Tried recovering different versions and no luck.
Then, I decided to use the Flash Tool recovery method. It worked in the sense that there was no longer a boot loop, but I still had no service and could not use a lot of the functions like updating PRL/PROFILE and few of the apps would not launch like the quick remote, it would say "SIM not ready"
I'm pretty much out of ideas at this point as I only have the flash tool option and since I lost recovery.
Is this considered BRICKED or does anyone have an idea? thanks

If you are still able to enter in the ROM it's not Bricked....
Put the phone in Fastboot and flash a recovery via Fastboot commands.
Then you can wipe everything (except internal) and flash a new ROM.
I've never fastbooted before. Is there a quick tutorial link for this?

There is no normal fastboot mode as on other phones. Best thing i think try to go back to stock via kdz/tot method and reinstall root and recovery

So I tried the flash tool again using different TOT files. ZV8 and ZVA files caused boot loops. The only file that almost worked was the ZVC file. By almost I mean, there's no boot loop, and i'm able to use the stock ROM however certain things don't work, like when launching the quick remote app, it says "SIM not ready", or stock video cannot play "Unsupported file type" error, and most importantly I'm not able to get any service.
The good part is, my wifi is working. So next I tried to root, however I get this a "unable to open /system/xbin/su: no such file or directory" (i'm attaching the photo for reference).
Thanks for any other tips of directions.
remove sim card and reinsert try that. Not working.
also check your imei. If its not there you may need to recover it from a twrp backup, (recover the efs that is) at least from the time you had no issues. Not working?
Also I read nothing about wiping. (wipe everything except internal sd) before performing a clean instal. Check for same issues, not there victory.
be carefull with full backups, they might contain the issue you are experiencing.

this is a ls980 so I can't remove the Back cover unless there's a way I don't know.

I am not very familiar with your model. But on the d802 there is a small slot on the side of the phone with a small hole. With the phone in box was a small metal device which you could poke in hole and the slot would open. Maybe other user could confirm.
Did you backup your twrp backup of the phone? Then now is also the time to put it back if the tot method deleted it.
Anyway did you check your imei, (dial *#06#, it should show your imei). usually when service is lost there is something wrong with imei, or simcard.
imei can be recovered by the efs backup in a twrp backup. Simcard via putting out back in, reboot, etc.

Thanks for all your help! sounds like its definitely a imei and Sim related issue.
I don't have any backups but I can get to the factory recovery which has an adb side load option. Do you think I can side load a stock ROM this way? If so, what type of file do I use?
