help please!! xxkpe - Galaxy S I9000 General

hey guys i need some help.. not too familiar with the i9003.. im a captivate user originally..
anyways im on xxkpe 2.3 right now.. i deodex with update.zip and flashed legends of something theme..
my problem is that whenever i go into display settings it FCs and also when i get a phone call.. it rings but it FCs ... help please.. i really like this theme too lol!

flash this theme in cwm,

flash this theme in cwm,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225369

Isn't that for xxkph?
Oh does it have anything to do with me forgetting to mount system when I flash the deodex update in cwm?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

The only way to fix your issue is one of the following.
- Use deodexed files through adb to push it back into the phone, hence replacing system files/frameworks, You will be reverted to stock look, That should save you.
- Use another theme to replace the exact same files that replaced system files with the theme you used, You must open the contents of the theme you flashed and look into it and see what system apps were replaced, no worries about the framework since 99% of all theme's generally replace the 3 major framework files.

So could I just factory reset and do everything again? Like reflash xxkpe root and deodex with update zip and flash the theme?

Factory reset would only reset system data completely, Not framework replacements. You might need to reflash if you are unsure.

Help with restoring from cwm

I'm on dk28 with bonsai rom installed w/ gingerbread theme. I deleted an app. That I needed so I did a backup and then restored another backup thru cwm cause I just did a backup yesterday. I booted into cwm and did the restore and the rom loaded and as soon as I typed my passcode in a **** load of force closes started happening. Wouldn't stop doing it. Itvwas hard to open anything up. So I then rebooted back to cwm and restored the backup I just did and still the same thing. I've done restores many times before and I've never had this happen. Anybody know what's going on? Could it be the gingerbread theme doing it??? Well I had to go back to the last one I did before I put the gingerbread theme on. That has to be it. Any way to stop the force closes? I'm so far behind now.
So I restored the bonsai rom right before I flashed the gingerbread theme. I then wanted to get my theme back so I bootefpd back into cwm and wiped cache and dalvik 3 times and flashed the theme and I got all the force closes when it rebooted. WTF? I wish I wouldn't even of restored o begin cause it was fine. Anyone can help me ad o why the force closes with the theme all of a sudden? It was working fine. Thanks
Themes can't be restored without your issue occuring. If you made a backup of the the rom before adding the theme, use that and you should be ok.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yeah thats where im at now but everytime I.try to add the theme again I get all the force closes again. I dont kniw why. I worked fine the first time I did it.
Are you on a odex or deodexed rom?
Also as stated above if you backed up with a theme on, you will constantly get force closes. Just Reflash the rom make sure its deodexed and try flashing the theme. Only restore the back up of data.
Does the bonsai rom com with a preinstalled theme? That is probaly your dilema, try restoring only data and let me know.
Update: THe bonsai rom comes with a battery mod that is the source of your problem... You cant restore a back up with any theming including the battery mod, i recommend a reflash and restore data only.
im getting the bonsai rom to restore just fine without the gingerbread theme but as soon as i flash the theme i get the fcs again. im just gonna start over and reflash both the rom and theme.

yes back up with no battery mod or theme installed and u shouldnt have any issues restoring..
What i do since i forgot to do this i keep all the stock d118 2.1 flashables on my card, so if i need to restore everything i just flash the stock rom, then start flashing my themes and what not.
But yes backingup with out themes or battery mods will let you restore no problem

This method generally works best for me when restoring. Wipe and reflash the rom, do any special things that need to be done, then restore data. The cache will catch up on its own.
I am not able to use the gingerbread theme either. Look in the thread for the gingerbread theme and you will see other ppl are having the same issue. I even odined back to stock, rooted my phone, flashed the recommended ROM for that theme, then flashed the theme and I still get a bunch of FCs. I gave up on the flashable zip for the them and took some files from the themes zip file and manually copied them to my phone and that seemed to work just fine.
i got it working now. i restored back to stock dk28 and just reflashed the bonsai rom and then the gingerbread theme. thanks for all your help and i got to learn something new. thats a good idea to keep all the stock flashable zips on yoyur sd card.

Yep very good idead, i keep the stock d118 rom, the stock flashable to get rid of clockwork as well as one click root files and drivers files on my phone so i can do any of that on the go on any computer. Plus its nice to avoid going through the mess of odin.
yeah odin can be a pita. hey quick question i saw the bonsai rom has an update to it. could i flash the update over my theme? if i cant (which i probably cant)im not even worried about it.

Big problem with my sgs2 :(

Everything have worked fine until now..
Latest things i did was update firmware on the camera, then rebooted and the camera worked just as fine as before.
I had two framework-res.apk's that i have moded from my own frameworkfile in kitchen, i did try both out and they worked just fine before, i did rename them and hade both in my bluetooth folder on the phone.. one circle and one guage battery framework modfile.
I wanted to go back to the guagefile, so i copied the file (it was renamed framework-res..guage.apk) and pasted it in the framework folder on the phone, renamed it and now it seamed i had two framework-res.apk files... thought one would overwrite the other, but no it didnt. So i checked what file was oldest and deleted that and rebooted, now i cant get by the samsung logo have tried everything and it just wont go any further
Could anyone help me with what to do pleeeeeease ? i can flash with odin, and i have tried flasing kernels unsecure and original with no effect, please help me !! i really hope this phone isnt bricked now
Put phone in download mode or cwm and flash a rom. Use a stock rom made for your phone.
I would prefer not to flash a new rom as there is many things on my phone that i dont want to get wiped away. I have some movies in the camera folder that i havent made a backup for yet and i just cant live without them, if they are lost i could just as well throw away the phone

root it , then buy titanium backup from the market and backup what you want , then flash rom , then install titanium again , then reinstall back up , easy peasy
your phone will have what you want on it still and hopefully be working again
have a good day
flashing a rom shouldnt clear your mass memory mate , your videos etc should remain unless you use the android restore function in settings or format it via pc

sorry didnt read post properley my fault :-(
still flashing a new rom wont delete your mass memory files
it never has on mine , as the other user said , wipe , wipe cache , wipe dalvik cache , if this still doesnt boot then flash a rom of your choice it may bring it back fine and your mass memory should be intact
leomar2.4 / 2.5 / 2.6 / doesnt touch the mass memory files anyways so your videos would be fine and you would have one of the best roms going
No worries
As it is now i can only get into odin mode.. down volume, home button, power button and get connected to the odin flashprogram, that is the only thing i can do
So even if my pictures and movies are on phones internal sd-card it wont be deleted ?? i just need to know this before i do something major like new rom.
I have a external sd-card to and i guess that wont be effected, but i dont know about the internal sd-card
Can i flash a rom without do those wipe cleaning stuff i read about that seams to be important to do before flashing a new rom ?
If it is just the framework-res.apk file thats wrong, cant i flash a new framework file with odin ? if for some reason there was something wrong there.
What rom do you use now? Wiping data wipes everything, wiping cache and dalvik cache shouldn't delete any personal data.

Just flash a stock ROM with Odin.
It won't remove anything, it'll all br there.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Wipe will only wipe /data and /system which will be user and system apps and data.
You wont lose anything on the internal sd card and ext sd card.
You can always flash the same rom as you had before over the top which should fix the framework.
just flash non wipe rom from intratech topic, it will fix it for you
or boot into recovery, do backup there, flash new rom and then restore advenced only data in recovery
and as was mentioned before, reset/wipe/new rom through odin will not touch pictures/movies/music on internal sd card only apps and app setup with data will be erased

Thanks everyone for your help, you are really a great bunch of people here, so fast and very helpful, thank you all so much !
I must admit that my heart stopped for a moment when i couldnt get it restarted, forgot to breath but i did as you said only thing is i didnt flash a stock rom, i flashed a very nice rom called lightning and im much more happy with my phone now then i was before... in the end it was a good thing maybe that this happen to me today, otherwise i would probably never have gone from stock rom, now im glad i did it's faster and everything is better, and i could just now flash a new bootanimation that i couldnt do before, i tried the cool pc bios boot and im very happy with that, overall it feels like a new improved phone
Thanks everyone !!! Have a great eavning !
All you had to do was boot in recovery, and adb a stock frameworkres.apk to the phone and it wouldve booted fine! Or made a flshable zip that copies the stock frameworkres.apk and flash that through clockwork!
...and on the 8th day he created the SGS II!

Did it. Then performed a hard reset again by *2767*3855# (just to be ultra clean).
Looks clean uptill now. No FCs.
Now the steps I think should be performed are (in order):
1. Flash a custom kernel (SpeedMod for eg.)
2. Flash a custom ROM (SURFACE, for eg.)
3. Change the CSC to my country (maybe using Nitrality)
4. Apply a good looking theme (PaulGiddy for eg.)
5. Restore Apps by TitaniumBackup.
Now, the thing is, I've done it all before too. But, I dont know which step caused the problem.
Maybe I did all one-after-another without waiting for some time in between to let the things settle (maybe a week or so).
Pls advise what should I do now (I'm still ultra-n00b to flashing world).

If you want to flash surface rom, then just follow instructions in rom thread step-by-step and do everything what is said..many times fc's are caused by bad flash or theme which replaces some apks/files. So try your rom before flashing theme (as boot & few minutes waiting time before that is anyway advised..) and you will see if it's theme which is causing problems.
Also, restore only user apps with TB..

Full debloat stock rom on I9195 ( flashable zip )

Hey there after a whole week of testing, reflashing, bricking, rebooting I decided to share with you my debloat version of Galaxy S4 Mini I9195 ( might work on all versions of galaxy mini, not sure. )
For those who want to keep stock os for some reasons, I made this post hoping I can spare people some great time.
Summary: most stock apps gone, no kies, no ota update ( if you root your phone you wont't get any anyway ) and so on. Removed main apps as I have replacements from the play store. Also removed everything search related including voice which never worked well for me. I use swype keyboard to dictate and that's all.
I attached the updater-script contents, as you may modify and keep whatever you want. I tested this script on my device and everything works fine.
Just flash it via cw recovery and if it's the first debloat I recommend wiping /data and /cache.
If you want to skip a file deletion, open the zip with any archiver, and edit the file META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script and delete the lines regarding the app/folder/lib you want to keep.
How to Unbrick
How did you unbrick your phone pls?
I had the CM and i want to come back to stock.
I have tried flashing a stock debranded DBT rom.
I had boot loop. The Samsung loge freezes.
I have tried flashing all stock roms.
No chance. I can see onlay Samsung logo...
I had this issue, wiped /data and /cache after flashing my csc ROM and worked.
Worked like charm. Serious debloating.
I flashed cwm, booted to cwm flashed the script and was done. I wiped dalvik just in case. Now seems to work fine. Didn't have to root for it.
So basically stock rom and kernel + no more crappy apps. :good:
Thank you for your work!!! Awesome!!
You're welcome like I said I spent a whole week removing/puting back until I found what CAN be removed and what CANNOT be removed safely.
When I feel like reverting to stock rom I flash stock and immediatly after odin's reboot I flash custom recovery and run the zip so I can have my /data intact.
@btnetro can I check with you if you needed to flash back your nandroid backup for reverting to stock rom?
I'm sorry I don't understand the question
What were the steps you took to revert back to stock ROM?
odin flash with appropiate csc firmware ( my case dbt ) not a very hard thing
Did you have to restore your initial CWM backup?
I never made backups since this is not my primary device and it's still in testing sort of speak.
however since this are different roms I don't think you can revert to stock rom with cyanogen /data ...
This sounds great, but if I have rooted and frozen bits of bloat can I do this over the top and expect it to work?
TIA

I'm intrested in using this script but for example Im using voice can I install some apps that you deleted back ?
and how many spce did you saved after debloating ?
instead of reinstalling you can edit the file I wrote on the 1st thread and delete the lines that match the apps you want to keep
if i install the full debloat and then i add only the apps i want, what happens with updates ?
am i going to be able to get them and if yes will all the samsung apps be re-installed ?

This is not a rom. Its a script that automaticly uninstalls all the samung bloatware apps like Samsung hub, sam connect, bookstore etc.
But to awnser your question, it would save battery a bit more since the bloatware won't be running in the sys backround any longer
Beware that debloating does not remove any bloatware system shortcuts such as some of the AllShare connectivities tabs as its implented into the samsung firmwares interface.
