Market 3.0.27 force close!! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

So my market updated to 3.0.27 a few days ago and I've been having constant problems with it ever since! I'm running Pongsters Hyperdroid rom and it's always worked flawless for me, so I don't think that's the problem. Every time I try and update my apps or download and app the market force closes. Its driving me insane! I've tried clearing cache, date, and restarting but nothing helps. Anyone have any advise? Thanks!

Did you installed it from a trusted source?
I had this once to and installed it from a better source and the problem was gone.

It just updated automatically

Just uninstall updates on the market. Then (and I'm not sure about this, you should get a second opinion before doing this) I think you have to freeze the market updater to stop it re-updating.

How would I go about freezing it? Because everytime I uninstall updates, it just reapplies it the next time I use it!

Anyone?

Titanium Backup.

you need to set cache folder permissions , or it will force close.
if you like the new look of the market youll need to make script to change cache folder permissions or do it manully every time you reboot your phone.
if you dont like the new market, you can goto settings/ applications/ manage applications/ scroll down to market and click unistall update, then use titanium back to freeze market updater app.
if want to keep the new market download this app and install it on your phone. open it up, hit menu button/new/ new script/ name whatever you want it then okay, new window pops up hit script manager edit, type su(hit enter) chmod 777 cache (hit enter) now hit menu key, save, hit back button til youre out of the editer window, (should be two pushes) scroll till you see your file name you made, tap it/ select run as root and run at boot, hit save. exit all the way out and reboot, after boot su will pop up asking allow or deny, hit allow and market should work fine from then on

I also tried yours but the problem still exists.
Please help me! What can I do now to have my Market working again. It has been a week since its last working time. I miss my Market!

well the best and easiest thing for you to do is to un-install the market update and freeze market updater app using titanium backup freeze fuction.
download this free version of titanium and install to your phone, goto settings/ appplications/ manage applications/ scroll down til you see market and tap on it/ tap on un-install update. now exit to home, then open titanium backup and hit menu button/ batch/ scroll down til you see freeze all user and system apps and tap run next to that line/ tap deselect all (make sure you do that FIRST) scroll down til you see market updater and put a check next to and push run the batch operation at top of screen. exit to home after its done, open market ( it will close by itself, dont worry) open market again and you should be good to go. good luck!

Ok well the easiest thing that has worked for me is to get root explorer 2.14.2 and go in, touch and hold on the cache folder and check all permissions and no more force close! the downside of this is you have to do this every time you reboot your phone, but its better than writing a script.

thats true, an easy way but as you said, youll have to do that every time after a reboot. writing the script is easy, just follow my steps and you be good, you wont have to change the cache folder every time you reboot then.

Can't Install/Update/Uninstall Nesoid - wtf

I was running DCv2.06 and thought a2sd was working fine until one day i got a out of space error when updating Nesoid Lite (NES emulator.) Took a look at available space and it said ~30mb. Not exactly out of space but whatever, weird, moving on.
• Went in and started totally fresh wiping everything and, repartitioning and then successfully activating a2sd. free space = 101mb.
• My Nesoid shortcut said the app was no longer installed upon pressing it. Market says there's an update available and that it IS installed.
• When I try to update it tells me I'm out of space.
• When viewing the app in market my only option is to update. Uninstall button is grayed out.
• I can install any app on the market, even big ones like google earth with no problem, except Nesoid Lite.
• Nesoid Lite is not under Setting > Applications > Manage Apps.
• Tried to install Nesoid Lite from an old backup, same Out of Space error.
• Downloaded Nesoid Lite from a website and tried to install via a couple different app installers and ES File Explorer - same error.
• App is still in my market list.
• WIPED FULLY and started over. Same app, same error... and still in Market list under Downloaded. Still says Update Available.
how in the world does the app's market link survive a total wipe!?
what the f.
EDIT:
Just cleared market cache and the problem persists.
Cleared market upldater cache - problem persists.
I can install other emulators, like Gearoid Lite, by the same developer: "yongzh"

Start by making sure the market isn't running (task manager of your choice, or settings->applications->manage applications, Market, 'Force Stop' button).
Then open a terminal and type
Code:
su
rm -r /data/data/com.android.vending/*
Restart market, if the button is still grayed out then reboot your phone.
results were the same. Thanks for you reply.

I don't know what the name of the apk is, but if you can find it, you can manually remove it in /data/app (if you have a2sd running, it'll redirect you to /system/sd/app). If it isn't there, try /data/app-private. Last place to work is /system/app.
Once you remove it, reboot the phone and see if you can install it again.

Android Market Force Closes

I'm having a problem downloading and updating apps from the Android Market. As soon as the download is complete and the phone tries to install the Android Market force closes. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? My N1 is rooted and running CM 5.0.6.

Thanks man it worked. The only thing is that I have to do it every so often. It also takes a lomg time for anything to show up (i.e. searches, downloads, and just browsing)
Thanks
Worked for me too
Thanko you!
Finaly!
I didn't need to uninstall updates. I fixed this by just clearing the data in the application. But yes, if an application hangs at install it seems to screw up the Market app.
Mhhh. Yesterday had an app (Volume) that was stuck on installing an app ... for hours.
Thanks! Fixed my issue.
Thanks, worked great

Am I missing something? When I goto settings>applications>manage applications>market I can clear data and clear cache but I can't uninstall anything.
I cleared both the cache and data but once I except the terms of service it FC again. And I still have the issue with FC after every install or uninstall.
Anyone care to chime in here? I'm still having issues with the market crashing even after clearing data and cache.
Also I notice the market will crash after I set my USB connection type to data (connect to the computer).
WTF!? i have tried partitioning/formating the sd card and reinstalling cm6.1.1 and everytime i login to my google account and go to the market IT ALWAYS CRASHES! i dont have anything but 2 purchased apps that are not installed. clearing data and such does not help. even tried to reinstall cm6.1.1 with and without hdpa gapps but the problem is still there. i have flashed roms countless times and this is a first. makes me want to get a blackberry now.
Worked, but now I have the old version. Does it upgrade itself?
I've installed new rom and when market updates it crashes. I did wipe chace, unistal update and yes it works. I get back my old market. But after few minutes it updates itself to new one and I'm back at the begining.

Where is your Market update installing to - /data or /system?
Sorry but I'm new here. How can I see where updates are? Do I need to go to recovery and find market folder somewhere in -data or -system?
You can use a file browser and look in /system/app and /data/app to see if the Market is there - however, a better option is to use Titanium and use the batch options to "Integrate updates of system apps in ROM".
Once the Market is back in the /system it should behave a lot better...
-data/app folder is empty. I found Marketupdater.apk in -system/app. I'll try this Titanium and report back how are things.
Ok I've fixed it. You just need to select english language in settings and it dosn't crashes anymore.
PS: Sorry for bad english.

New Market (3.0.26 and 3.0.27)

Does anyone have an issue with the market force closing randomly? I am trying to download an app it will get to 50% then I get the FC. Any ideas? I am running Ultimate Droid 3.3.0

market
This is a problem on some roms. A fix for this if you don't mind using old market is to go into applications and uninstall update for market to take it back to old version then go into titanium backup and freeze market updater. Next time you go into market you should be running old version and it will work fine without updating to new. I have tried another fix by editing script but did not work for me. I found this option the easiest and best way for me. Hope it helps.
What rom are you using?

Why my new market always force closed, I'm used TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.5.7[2.3.5] ROM.
you need to set cache folder permissions , or it will force close.
if you like the new look of the market youll need to make script to change cache folder permissions or do it manully every time you reboot your phone.
if you dont like the new market, you can goto settings/ applications/ manage applications/ scroll down to market and click unistall update, then use titanium back to freeze market updater app.
if want to keep the new market download this app and install it on your phone. open it up, hit menu button/new/ new script/ name whatever you want it then okay, new window pops up hit script manager edit, type su(hit enter) chmod 777 cache (hit enter) now hit menu key, save, hit back button til youre out of the editer window, (should be two pushes) scroll till you see your file name you made, tap it/ select run as root and run at boot, hit save. exit all the way out and reboot, after boot su will pop up asking allow or deny, hit allow and market should work fine from then on.

It works fine to display, not download
I followed the steps. Now it doesn't force to close, but when I tried to download an App (such as Google+), it still force to close.

My Apps is empty in Market

Hi All,
There are already threads for this problem, but all possible solutions are not working
My apps are not showing anymore in Market.
Clear cache is not working
Clear cache and reboot is not working
Clear cache foreclose and reboot is not working
Market dokter Titanium does not work
I always get a agreement of de market but again my apps are empty.
Did a full wipe and reinstalled ARHD 6.3.2 then restoren my apps by Titanium
A see all the Apps in my Apps, but again later on... everything is empty
Somebody have same issues?
Cheers,
Peter
If you find an app you have purchased before, does it allow you to install it? Or does it say its "incompatible" with your device?
It is allowed to download it and install it. And i have no new phone... so maybe my account is corrupt at Google side?
Try the following, if you have superuser permissions.
In the file /system/build.prop find the line starting with ru.build.fingerprint, and replace symbols JFM to JJ7
If this not works, in the same file find the option ro.sf.lcd_density=167 and change 167 to 160. You may set another value, eg. 240.
After saving the changes you should reboot.

My ro.build.fingerprint is like:

Do i replace GRJ90 then?
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 this is my line

Better first try to change LCD density to 160. I'm not sure about fingerprint in non-Russian roms
Btw, are the permissions for build.prop set correctly after making changes?

I use a build.prop editor this saves the file and correct the permissions.
Even uninstalled the market update did not work
IT is working again:
unimstalled the update of market
Clean data from google services framework.
Then force close
Clean data of market
Then force close
Reboot
Now it seems to work....
After update of market app the problem is back. Now i try the same steps as above...
After the steps above without remove market update i got my list back...
But after a change from portrait to landscape the list is gone again....
Seems like Google developers "fixed" something again. Try to ask their support

I discover it was a App problem. When i did a full restore of Titanium the problem was there... When i did every time 5 apps restore i use for long time the problem was gone...
I do not know that app gives this error.. because i delete all other apps what i think it was the problem and even do not use them anymore as well..
It is a update of something .. so my problem is solved.
Also, Market Fixer can help to solve the problem. Root required!
Market fixer did not work... have try that already.. but it is solved now...
Official fix for me...
Requirements:
Market Fixer app installed
Faith and patience
Intructions:
1) go to manage applications in your settings, tap view all and force close "Market" (don't delete any data)
2) while still there, also delete "Google Services Framework"'s data and force close it
3) run "Market Fixer", tap analyse market links, select all of them and tap remove market links ONLY
4) go to "My Apps" inside Android Market and make sure there's a Retry button on the screen telling you it couldn't communicate with the server, if there isn't, repeat step 2 and re-check
5) re-run "Market Fixer" to be sure the links didn't get recreated, and if none appear, reboot
6) go to "My Apps" as soon as you boot completely
7) if previously bought apps appear on the list, go to the free apps category and install a new one (this will recreate your market's database with working information)
8) check "My Apps" one last time, all apps should be there now
9) if you want, reboot once more and go to "My Apps" again to make sure everything's in working order with your "My Apps" list
10) dance the macarena, shoot a few hoops or just enjoy your victory like i did
11) make sure you don't re-link those evil apps to your market so you don't have to redo all of this
***As you could've noticed, the idea behind the first five steps is to keep the market from recreating the links or having to clear the data for Google Services Framework many times (both happen when the market's still running in background).***

[Q] Prompt to Complete action using Easy Launcher or TouchWiz Home

I have the 32GB Galaxy S 4. I rooted my phone using the motochopper exploit after I received the OTA update to I337UCUAMDB and I also replaced SuperUser with SuperSU. Every time I restart my phone and enter the unlock pattern I am greeted with a prompt to Complete action using Easy Launcher or TouchWiz Home. I have selected both and tried choosing Always or Just once for each choice but after rebooting I am always presented with the prompt again.
Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any ideas why this prompt is appearing?
Thanks in advance for your help.
If you're rooted, get Titanium Backup and freeze the launcher you don't want. If there's only 1 installed, you won't get the popup.
You can also go to settings/applications and do a "clear defaults" on both, then reboot. Maybe that'll help the choice stick.

Is there any other method of accomplishing removal of that that prompt? I do NOT wanna spend 6 bucks a ****ty backup app just to freeze one stupif thing because of a bug in the S4. I have app quarantine but it doesn't allow me to freeze easy launcher.
You can freeze it with the application manager. Just select the one you don't want and where Uninstall usually is you will find "Disable”
You can find this disabling option for system apps when you change to the "All" tab.

Can't you just use ES File Explorer (Free) and delete Easy Launcher then?
Yeah, like the person above just stated...you can use es file explorer or some other root file manager, you don't even have to delete the app...you can freeze it by renaming it!!!
Install es file explorer (free)
Enable root explorer
Mount /system
Navigate to /system/app
Rename the app by placing .bak at the end
Now its no longer recognized as an app due to the .bak at the end instead of .apk, if you want to unfreeze it then delete the .bak part and make sure it ends with .apk
-if your sure uninstalling it won't cause any issues than you can just delete it if you want

If I select touchwiz home and set as the default action and reboot I get the same screen again. I'm just wondering what caused this and how I it can be fixed rather then disabling easy launcher.
just forcly close both of them
