Remove case - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How hard would it be to remove the white on the phone I want to replace mine because of scratching on
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

I can't answer from experience, but here's a video on how to take the phone apart.

I don't know about you, but i'd just cover it up with an Otterbox case rather than taking the phone apart. It's a pretty complex task to achieve.. Good luck, if you do manage to do it maybe you could document it somehow for the community

[Req] matte battery cover

Are there any matte or rubberized battery covers on the market? I really miss the soft touch back of my g1. Thanks.

I personally haven't tried, but one of my buddies said after a few days, up to a week of use, it goes back to the way it was.

Wow! Very nice! The springs seem to not be available right now. I also have a little fear of disassembling my phone.. The last time I did it, it was on a Sony Ericsson k800i, I ended up break the power button off without even knowing it until there was no feel in the power button when I tried to turn it in.

did you use a black marker
try using dye..
i remember someone doing this for the touch pro 2.. i have the phone before and the desire z feels the same so it might work
they used dye to add color to the matte part of the cover
pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/htc-touch-pro2-user-dyes-battery-cover-provides-pics-video-tutorial
I really need to know how this is done. I've had 3 G2's cus they keep changing a yellow color. If it was black I wouldn't have to worry about this.

Same here. I got the gel case on mine as soon as I dropped it the first time and don't take it off except to clean the dust off. Still looks mint except the one corner of the phone where it fell on.

For the final sanding I would use somethin really fine or you could even semi-wet sand it and you'll get a great finish.
Can you post better pics...i want to do this.

Looks good bro, even though mine has been in the case since day 1 I think I still might try this. I always wondered my they only made the G2 in silver...

I don't intend to be mean or anything.........but maybe wash your hands more often? Had mine since launch and there is no discoloration.

[Q] Is it bad to do this?

Well sometimes I leave my phone by the sink while I shower, uncovered, and I was wondering if it's bad to do that. Could the steam mess up the internal parts or anything?
I have had a problem with the white sticker turning red, meaning water damage same thing.. But no real problems with the phone afterwards, however that voids warranty. :-\ so cover it up, or just leave it somewhere else up to u.

If the moisture (steam) gets to that sticker it will void the known warranty.
Where is the sticker btw? I actually just checked T-Mobile's extended monthly warranty(which I have), and I guess water damage is covered, so I guess this isn't needed anymore.
Well just to be safe. It's back of the phone when you take out the battery is believe.

I jest. I sell wireless for a living and sometimes you get those that come in and ask for the "4G". You ask which one and they look at you like you're an idiot. I then proceed to tell them it's only a type of phone and that there are many 4G phones. Same concept maybe.

All I see is a small, black, circular sticker that says void? Maybe it changes with different gens of the phone?
It is white on bottom right corner of the cutout where the battery fits in think.

Sounds like it might be hardware damage. Did you check and see if the battery has a proper connection. Does it turn on and off by itself or only when you move it?
only when i trow it let say in a table a bit hard but if i just lay it it wont
If you throw your sensitive electronic device at a table, it shuts off? Stop throwing your phone.
Sounds like a loose battery or bad power connection somewhere.

Mine does the same thing when I drop my phone on my bed... It is caused by a little play between the battery and the battery cover. Apiece of paper folded and cut to the size of the battery and placed between the battery and cover has done the trick for me, and I believe it is just because of wear on the battery cover from pulling it too often...

If Duct Tape can't fix something (anything!) it's either damaged far beyond any hope for repair, or it wasn't really broke in the first place.
There's not a lot of middle ground.
Well phrased, and I'm glad that when my phone fell off the bathroom counter and bounced screen first off the hardwood floor, there wasn't a sign it had ever moved, aside from some dirt on the screen
