Cyanogen gingerbread or MIUI gingerbread what is better
Both are just ports on the X10. Try it out to see which one you like.
These threads are dumb it's completely subjective
try it out, they are both good!
but if you want a stable and very good rom, so try also BlueSpark
I use this rome since two or 3 months and i had never problems with that rom.
sadly, it is 2.1 and not 2.2 or 2.3
That's like asking what's better - strawberries or apples. It's what you prefer.
Personally I like Cyanogen the best. Mainly because I can't stand iPhone so I don't like the iPhone look and feeling of MIUI - as I have experienced it.
At the moment I am running Wolfbreak's Cyanogen 2.2 ROM and my phone have never been better - both performance and battery wise.
So try them out!

you can tweak miui so it looks nothing like iphone.
The way I have mine set up it looks nothing like ios. For example. try the hive theme and set the menus to grid instead of list.
I wasn't aware of that. So thank you for that advice
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yes, I use MiUi, but it doesn't even look remotely like an iPhone. You can download the icons "Android 2.3", download your launcher of choice, and there you go! Sure th Menus are MiUi, but I like it. To each is his own.

Can't say better!
I do prefer MIUI but CM is also so great.
I think they are the best roms for our X10.
:/ just go with cyanogenMod 2.2 stable and all working.. all the gingerbread roms has no camera yet... some even lags and reboot all the time...
Cyanogen ROM with 2.2 froyo is cool !!

Agree, cm 2.2 is current the most stable, speedy ROM for x10. Until SE Q3 release stock version of gingerbread, will be very samliar to ARC.

Cm6.1.2. Xtremes is my fav.
2.2 froyo.
I have got every thing ruining smooth.
No fc's ever.
Camera works great.
Love the music player.
Wicked dialer and in call.
Skinned to the nines.
I don't see a need for gingerbread.
(the tv turning off close is cool)
Not until the upgrade.
I agree that miui looks a little to iphone.
There are lots of themes for miui.
But I don't know how well they work.

Miui 4* no problems cianogen4* some problems my English 0* so i can't write my opinion. Lol

I Prefer MIUI. Give both a try! can't go wrong with that.
currently i'm using MIUI, i was using CM before but i wanted a change from the Android layout, plus, imo, stock rom looks better than CM} but it's not all about looks and after trying CM, i switched to MIUI
EDIT: got it working finally, had to kill the process and reboot the phone
cyanogenmod doesnot support xperia x10 anymore ?
I cant see the phone in the list..
what to do ?
thanks in advance

Sure, I have tried some 2.3.3, 2.3.4 (I don't want to name them...) but only 2.2.1 can work perfectly.
I use a CM6 based rom with a personnal look.
I prefer LancherPro, all others (ADW, Zeam, MiUI,...) have not a circular dock where you can put a lot of shortcuts.
Hey guys if you dont know me I was a rom dev for the xperia but moved on to the DZ. HAven't yet made a rom for the DZ, yet.
But I have been flashing non-stop since i got this phone. Its just I can't decide what I should stick to, and what will match my needs.
So im a highschool student, calendars reminders are big for me and staying organized. I play basketball and watch it too so video and stuff is needed.
But Im also a dj/producer and i need the best sound. I also like to play games ocassionaly as well.
I really love Sense 3.0 but I cant handle the laggyness even with swap enabled, is there anything else that can be done? I was on virtuous 2.00 (sense 2.1) for 2 weeks it was stable and all, but the battery was pretty drainable fast. BlissBeatMod is promising if some of it can get less laggy. And we'll have to see what Virtuous Tretanique (Affinity) will go.
Aosp is nice and fast but I dont really get the nice looks and features that miui have to offer.
Miui is really nice im running BulletProof right now. But i still dont feel like its the "one". and the quality of music isnt as great on sense even with equalizer options on.
PLEASE TELL ME ANY SUGGESTIONS, ALL WILL BE APPRECIATED
i personally have ILWT CM7... fast yet battery efficient... plus, there's alot of themes you can add to it so it can be visually good too
btw, i saw your work man! you are LEGEND!! i encourage you to make a ROM for us!

Thanks a lot, once I decide what kind I will produce I will start.
Ok Im running ILWT. It is amazing. I put a theme on. Very fast. But still some reason it just seems "boring". And the sms app on aosp/cm7 isnt as sexy.
yea i know exactly where youre coming from, I always want a newer prettier ROM... I wish someone would release one that just didnt look like it was android almost, and not like iphone, or anything, something with an original GUI.. yes i realize that's a lot to ask btw and not something I would be able to do myself but I think it'd be cool and get a lot of support! In the mean time the one I've found to be the freshest for me is MIUI because of how the themes affect like everything and really the launcher is what catches my eye, im kinda excited for the ROU launcher
i used to use cm7 and miui before. cm7 is lightweight rom, smooth and has excellent battery life. but it is lack of killer feature such as in its sms functionality, the smart dialer and etc. of course you can always download apps from market for that functions but it takes forever to load those apps on startup.
so i moved to miui, which i am currently running with bulletproof miui rom. it is rich with functionality, ridiculously-convenient-built in-features and interfaces, but consume more battery compared to cm7 unless you made certain tweak on its OC/UC. but its interface lacks of originality because it is obviously a mimic of iOS. but so far i m happy using miui.
i want to try sense based rom, but from what i learned, sense based is laggy. i miss sense interface though. look clean.
OK, if you think cm7 is boring (and I agree) I suggest you give MexDroid a spin. It was my DD for quite some time. The only reason it's not anymore is because I found Bulletproof MIUI. but I'm sure you've already tried MIUI. if not. Tun4f1sh's Bulletproof is the ONLY one I recommend.
More options would be most welcome I'm sure. I'm trying to figure out how to port roms from hd forums at the moment. The collective's absolution looks pretty sweet.

If you use bootmanager (market app) you can install sense / miui and cyanogen at the same time... Only thing you have to do is seeting up the phonerom as sense (miui and cyanogen based mods run very smooth booting from sdcard)

Neat, I like that idea. Kinda like having a nand backup without the pain of restoring everytime you want to switch.
I also champion Bulletproof, tun4 and tsubus seem to make sure this Rom stays a top contender. There is also talk of miXdroid Mod which is a miui meXdroid, looking forward to seeing how that one turns out

MIUI is great, iv been runing Bulletproof, it's definitely unique miui whit its virtuos oc controller witch cough my eye. But now i got ICS fever on me, not for the isc gui but some of the features. I stumbled on Galnet MIUI whit ics framework. runing fine, tried it for couple days, and the batterylife seems fine, maybe. Ill stick to this since it seems to work, and hope for updates whit possibly some new ics features.(its still same MIUI ui and functionality)
after we get somewhat working ICS, i will try that a little, and propably get back to MIUI.
I'm on Bulletproof MIUI at the moment but since the iPhone-esque UI makes my eyes hurt I installed LPP and some icon pack (can't remember the name). That way I still have the looks of Android but can combine with the impressive speed and flow of the Bulletproof MIUI ROM.
CM 7.1 for me lacks a little bit of polish visually (can't wait for CM9!) compared to Sense based ROMs and IMO MIUI offers that. I like Sense but any Sense based ROM I've tried has started to get laggy on me after a while.
Bulletproof MIUI for the win...I also like good old Cyanogen too, but for a nice mix of speed AND looks MIUI is tops for me
Love the look of Sense, but too slow and laggy
Check my thread, i got a bunch of videos of roms and see which one you like the best

in this few days, i have been testing 3 sense 3.5 rom, beatmode, affinity and rcmix.
for someone who has a very sensitive sense like me, i cant stand to wait for the phone to response due to insufficient memory in sense 3.5.
its time to go back to miui bulletproof.
I have tried many of them. CM and MIUI is cool, I just miss too many features from sense. Sense 3.0 is either laggy or will get laggy after a while. So, I always go back to my Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 NAND backup.
But: question here: why is this draining the battery soooo badly? Apart from this, this could be THE perfect ROM.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I have tried muiu, mexdroid, htc clay, g-lite, sense 2.0, unity sense and the affinity sense. I keep finding myself going back to the most stable, configurable and updated ROM ILWT CM7 (268).
Sent from my HTC G2 using xda premium
Sense is smooth and polished, but every custom Sense ROM that I have ever flashed is a battery hog, even the Sense 2.1 + 3.0 hybrids.
So my current favorite is G-lite 1.05 - it's like stock + overclocking + better than stock battery life (due to deep sleep)
I like sense and am currently running Virtuous Afinity but I can see me switching to an ASOP build of ICS when it's stable enough

Curious to know what you like most about ILWT, especially compared with mexdroid and miui?
Somewhere between getting stuck when coming back from an app and annoying keyboard issues within the messenger combined with the EOL status...
So what are the options people? I'm currently playing with Go Launcher and a Sense 4.0 theme, which oddly feels faster while being more customizable. I didn't care for the default Go Launcher theme it rubbed me wrong, probably the only part of Sense I still like is the icons and presentation of apps. Thinking about going to a rooted stock with custom kernel or a custom rom with custom kernel. I don't know, really confused right now

Love the hardware, not loving the software.
My personal favorite launcher is GoLauncher over Sense. Both Supreme Sense XII and newSENSE are great ROMs but I know what you mean. Here's what I did recently on Supreme Sense XII.

Well the Software is actually what gives you the Freedom to do whatever you want. It all depends on the combination of Rom, Kernel, and Mods you choose. Here are just a few Themes and Skins I've Ported, or helped with .
Wow Prboy1969 those are prety awesome! Is it possible to get the dock in the first pic on Sense 3.5 or 3.0?

I lost my appreciation for sense as soon as I rooted and dove into CM7.
It came back a little bit for sense 4.0, but meh.
I thought I loved sense until I tried AOSP roms lol

i liked some of the features in sense but sense overall just plain sucks and especially with the reloads everytime you go back to the homescreen.
recently ive been addicted to the ice cream sandwich builds coming out (AOKP has been running the best so far for me, with a few minor bugs like calls not coming through (but thats what texting is for LOL))

That's why we have choices. So everyone can be happy . Myself I'm a Sense kinda guy, cause it only makes Sense :cyclops: . But that being said, I've come across quite a few very good non-Sense Roms.
The email, messaging, and people apps are what mainly keep me on Sense. The way I use them only works in Sense. If the AOSP versions worked similarly I'd likely be useing something else. They're a lot easier to port.
Sense seems fairly bloated to me. I love how native Android ICS and JB have evolved and become more smooth and streamlined. I recommend checking out the ICS custom ROMs on this board (I'm on kushdeck's pb21 build still). I would like to try out preludedrew's new Evervolv JB ROM, but I get stuck in a boot loop after installing it

That is kind of where I think I was going before trying another modded out ROM. Think I just want to try vanilla with a fancy kernel. Some things that I know I like and would like to keep, WiMax (even though I rarely use it, no use paying for it if I can't use it), Keyboard lights as I work a night shift I inevitably have to hit up the phone and keyboard at night and the elusive landscape mode. Think I might be stuck on gingerbread because of this but I'm gonna look around.
Is App2sd a kernel level function or does the UI need to recognize it too?

A2SD has to do with the Kernel, as it determines the Ext. But it also usually has to baked into the Rom. Then enabled after you flash. But you can use DarkTremors A2SD Script to add and enable it on most Roms that it's not baked into.
About your Sig. I say go for it.

Use resurrection remmix Android 7.1.2 and full substratum support so so can use as many themes you want (it's aosp based not a TouchWiz based one)

You definitely would prefer an AOSP ROM for theming capabilities
Or maybe try MIUI?

Are you seriously, seriously not gonna mention the horrible notification system on MIUI? MIUI doesn't even have single finger swipe to expand notifications. How stupid is that?

Simple Difference in Between
Miui 8 vs Custom Roms i.e~ lineageOS,AOSP
Starting with Miui 8.
Miui 8.2.5.0 has a lot of features.
Features it has with stock are:-
PROS-
1-Copy OTP (Yes because it is so hard to just type the damn OTP by looking at the heads up notification)
5-Inbuilt theme option (Tons of themes) (No match to substratum)
6-Dual Notification Panel option (If only the notification implementation wasn't stupid in MIUI, this would be useful)
7-Fast responsive Stock Apps. (Uhhhh)
7-One hand mode (available in custom roms)
9-inBuilt Cleaner +with Battery Saver (Are you seriously saying a Clean Master + DU Battery Saver hybrid clone is a PRO?)
12-Quickball for quick navigations (RR PIE says "Hi". Hey, that rhymes!)
13-Mi cloud for direct System Data syncing. (Yes, let's give up our data to a random cloud)
15-Lost mode i.e either theft or Lost (Android Device Manager says hi)
16-Special Permission Manager (you mean the one which constantly kills accessibility permissions?)
CONS:
8-Bootloader Unlocking method. (Oh hey, atleast this list isn't biased)
CUSTOM ROMS:
CONS-
3-Bootloops usually occurs. (Only if you don't know what you're doing)
4- Too pure roms like AOSP has least features compared to Resurrection Remix. (Then use Resurrection Remix)
5-Though lineageOS uses Substratum in N builds but yes Substratum isnt user friendly and has minor bugs in it. (Select the things you need and tap "Build and Enable". How hard is it?)
6-Again the problem with some app compatibilities. (What?)
7-Doesnt have features like Copy Otp,Long screenshot, Quickball,Applock in memory, call recorder and many more features that are already provided in Miui 8. (Doesn't need Applock in memory because unlike MIUI, Custom ROMs can actually keep apps in memory)
If you are a Xiaomi user then I must advice you to stick with Miui 8. (I facepalmed so hard, my brain suggested me to flash MIUI for a second here)

What ??
Most of the time (hey, lets say 99.9% of the time) Its the stock builder who prematurely stops development update.
Development of custom Roms, in contrary, continues long after
Aaand he didn't even get my comment hahahahaha
Mwah,
Development is really these days more of the same just another name tag.
Tons of stock roms with tons of the same options ( no offense)
Back in the days every custom rom was really different, other look and feel. New options, new features.
Some roms had even a major ui overhaul.

But now what is your opinion over Todays custom roms.
I have seen so many custom roms with some minor tweaks with base cm or Aosp.
Just change the name make some tweak and then rename it to hydrogenOS or Jellyblast.
I am telling that Miui 8 is best for Xiaomi users.
Atleast i have a Redmi 3s which is friendly only with Miui 8.
No other Roms are stable enough.
Back in 2014 the galaxy y had a taste of custom rom like hyperion, jellyblast, kernel advancement.
Also what about almighty Nexus 5? Tons of Development.
Nope, because I hate bloatwares and spywares. Thanks.
