Hi all,
I was given a Streak7 (with a t-mobile chip) with the notion of "you fix it, its yours to keep". Saw it was stuck on the Dell Boot Logo, looked up methods on how to fix that. I did the Power, Vol +...did every option. Nothing...The device can boot into fastboot with power, vol - but i have no idea what to do there is that can fix the streak7. I also tried the restore method posted by illdill, every loaded, looked as if it worked and that didn't work either. Also did DJ Steve Honeycomb thinking that would fix all, installing overtop of everything else, and i get a partition 2 BCT..FAILED!
So i am stuck...i've searched and search and i end up with the same results...a Dell Boot Logo...Please help?
First of all its a question for the Streak 7 forum... secondly, have to ask if you did a factory reset from Dell recovery screen, NOT within android, that will brick your 7 most likely.
Not sure which recovery method you mentioned but is it the NV flash method mentioned in the Streak 7 forum?
yes, that's the one i did.

I did every option on the device. Reset with user (where it would get stuck saying booting up android), SD card technique, Reset through tables (that showed the little android guy and a box with yellow text saying formatting data...) it would always freeze at the dell screen once it rebooted.
When i try Honeycomb installation, this is what i get:
Formatting partition 2 BCT please wait.. FAILED!
command failure: create failed (bad data)
bootloader status: partition table is required for this command (code: 8) messag
e: nverror:0x2 (0x2) flags: 0
Hmmm well then it sounds like you've some some bad internal SD troubles or worse yet bad flash memory... the chip inside that actually hosts the ROM memory... as far as I know only sending it to Dell can fix either... someone may can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

Some backstory first:
There I was, happily running Villain 5.3, complete with apps2sd, and the latest radio. So happy in fact, I decided to ring my friend to tell him about it. So I opened up the dialler, typed "col" and the phone hung on me. So I rebooted it, got stuck in a boot loop.
No problem I thought, I have just installed the vanilla lockscreen, I bet that has something to do with it, so I booted into recovery, and tried a nandroid + ext restore.
It said it was restoring, but the screen simply filled with the progress dots, and continued to do so until the battery died.
Then to my horror, after a recharge, the recovery image is unable to detect the SD card. “E:Can’t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 [...] Can’t mount sdcard”
It may be worht mentioning, I tried a full wipe, but the progress bar that usually progresses didn't. The on screen status did change from wiping system to wiping cache, but once wiping was finished, the phone hung again, requiring me to pull the battery.
I did some research on potential remedies, but adb devices can't see any devices. Fastboot devices does, but as soon as I try to boot a recovery image, I get error: remote access not allowed, or something similar.
I even tried renaming a rom.zip from an RUU to HEROIMG.zip and loading hboot, but nothign happens.
After much jiggery-pokery I have finally figured out how to get an RUU to actually connect to my phone, but once that is running I get Fail-PU on every part of the update except the radio.
I really can't see any other solution to my problem, either thinking myself or trying advice I find sprawled across the internet, and I can't get t-mobile to fix it because I have invalidated my t-mobile warranty by putting a stock rom on, and the manager of the shop refused to acknowledge I have a right to repair under the sale of goods act.
Any help would be appreciated, and any information desired will be forthcoming.
EDIT: Oh yeah, whenever I start an RUU, it says "Current Image: Error_main (too many links))"
If you are getting remote not allow in fastboot, its a problem witj a perfect spl I think? Failing that try the command fastboot erase userdata -w this should basically do a factory reset on the device
FAILED (remote: not allow) on that too I'm afraid.
I tried the key combo for the factory reset, nothing much happened there unfortunately.
you will have to look into making a goldcard i am afraid :'(
Check here and be patient i had to make it 3 times to get mine to work.
Also i had to use a different RUU to what jesterz suggested, let me google that for you....
www.lmgtfy.com
Good luck!
Ha, I tried every RUU but that one, annoyingly.
I was thinking I'd be knackered as my phone can't connect to adb, but fortunately I still have the generated goldcard image sat in my gmail account, so I'll get right on making a goldcard.
Thanks!
just a guess here..
sounds like...
the SD card might be bad / flaky....
An update!
I don't know if my phone would ever boot after I did this, but I tried it anyway:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip <----- T-Mobile ROM (all others seem to throw up customer ID error.)
So now, as far as I can tell, I have an (almost) complete system loaded onto my phone under the partition "zip" (I say almost, because userdata won't flash).
However, due to userdata not flashing, I'm stuck in the RUU bootloader bit with the picture of a ROM chip and a big, red cross through it.
Anyone have any ideas how to get out of this screen, without ADB or an SD card (I tried 3, none would mount), or a recovery image because even if I could boot into it, it is now no longer a custom one. All I need is userdata to flash, and I'm good to go.
Also, would my phone actually boot as I flashed everything into "zip," a partition that I just made up.
Had a similar nightmare once. Solved it completely and documented it on the MoDaCo forum, so you may want to give it a try. Google for "No ADB & No SD" and see my post #81 from April 4. Good luck!
Ok, I have another thread elsewhere but it's not helping. Here's the deal.
Dell Bought AT&T Streak on Contract.
I rooted by Universal Androot and it said "woot" it worked (or something to that affect)
As far as "Update.pkg" I have used 4399 and 6941 and below is what happens (with other recoveries too, 6941 and clockwork)
I then got into fastboot and flashed recovery r1-4399-Streak-Recovery and it went well. Phone said "done"
So I unplugged from USB, took out battery, put back in and held volume/up/down and power..........chose 2
Dell logo comes up for a second then I get taken to a screen where it says
Android System recovery utility - GAUSB1A110421
Press the Shutter button to start emergency software recovery.
Warning: All data will be erased.
Press the Volume Down button to power off without recovery.
I have tried not hitting anything (which takes me to the Dell Logo eventually where it just stays stuck) and I have tried hitting the camera button which does the same (after I get a load icon)
So, since I don't have access to my phone to know exactly what stage it's in, I don't know where to start again.........Please help........I really need my phone and at this point don't care about 2.1. I have about 9 hours into this so far.........
Tried another way by using clockwork recovery 1.8.1.7 (any later versions just boot into a black screen)
I initially get Cant Find MISC: errors, but still get options so I installed build 6941 and got a few more errors.........then
install from sdcard complete
E: Can't find MISC:
so I was back in clockwork and held the camera button on "reboot" and am stuck at the Dell Logo again.............Please, I'm about to call Dell and turn this back in, I seriously need a phone........2 days with this and I think I've tried everything.........
So what do you have on there as of right now?
last thing I was able to install through clockwork was
downloaded 4399-update-streak-stock-rooted-signed.zip from http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/314313/how-to-get-your-streak-back-to-factory-condition/ and renamed the whole zip file update.pkg then through clockwork I get what's written below......
update.pkg.zip
E: cant find Misc
finding update package...
opening update package...
Installing update...
Installing system...
Writing boot image...
Install Complete!
Install from sdcard complete.
then from clockwork recovery I go to "reboot system now"
and get E: Can't find MISC:
Then it reboots and I see the Dell Logo and the Home and Menu Keys flash like crazy, then I have the Dell Logo and it just stays there (30 mins so far)
I really feel like I've tried every combination, This round it keeps flashing the home and menu keys every couple of minutes, but is still on the Dell menu.
Are you sure you're renaming it right? I don't think it should display update.pkg.zip.....
I have tried downloading just PKG files and renaming them and using stock recoveries, as well as downloading "zip" files and renaming them............given that I don't think anything has ever taken, I'm not sure what build I have anymore, or where to start?? I have seriously tried everything I can find from Streaksmart, MoDaCo, and here............I think I have too many variables going on and no way to know where a starting point is..........is there something I can do from the SD card through a reader that will help, or what...........I'm thinking I'm still on my 1.6 ATT 6061, but really don't know.
Hm, maybe try this?
HOW TO RESTORE YOUR STREAK BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION:
Option 1.
1. Download the stock recovery ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61659279/506ac40/recovery.stock.img.html) and the stock official Dell ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61663686/7d7e528/Streak_104_4399_21.pkg.html).
2. Rename the stock official Dell ROM 'Update.pkg' and put it in the root directory on your SD card.
3. Boot Streak in fast boot mode (hold camera button when turning on), press 'Fast boot Mode' button, wait 10 seconds then connect to your PC (must have Dell PC suite installed).
4. Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder where your 'fast boot-windows.exe' is stored.
5. Type 'fastboot-windows.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery c:\recovery.stock.img' . Make sure the .img file is in c:\ directory. The program will now update the recovery image on your Streak.
6. Once the phone reads 'Recovery Done', remove the battery and insert it again.
7. Boot Streak in Recovery mode (hold down vol up and vol down when turning on) and select option 2.
5. Wait till it installs and it'll boot into Android....DONE!
Option 2
Place update.pkg on SD card root folder
Power up streak whilst holding both volume buttons
Select option 2 - "software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card" by pressing camera button
Press camera button again Job done
Thanks to the Guys over at MODACO for putting this together.

No problem. Glad I could be of assistance!
I have 2.1 now, and it's awesome!! Not sure why folks are wanting to go back to stock....and now that the source code is out, I'm sure good things are coming!!
could you give a list of the files you used to get to 2.1?
I'm using a U.S dell streak Build 6601. Rooted with the flashing buttons. I've returned it to the stock recovery ROM because all the others and clockwork that I tried gave me the blank screen like you described. With the stock recovery and the O2 build from the post JaysFreaky mentioned gives me errors:
E: No Signature (972 files)
E: Verification Failed
Thanks!
Oh and a general question, would the official O2 2.1 update work on a rooted U.S streak? Or is it best to "start fresh" with the O2 1.6?
Okay, I'm successful now too, But I want to share HOW I achieved my success.
I followed the advice here: http //forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7668927&postcount=6
And infact, I did so without using the custom Recovery roms, I just used the stock recovery WITH the 2.1 update, skipping the O2 1.6...be patient though, because through out the processes, there were moments I thought it was hanging, it wasn't. Also toward the last step, it sits at the O2 logo for a bit then it gives you the heavenly start up sound and you're GOOD TO GO.
Good luck everyone and happy streaking!

I used the recovery file from the post in this thread. and I used http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/316229/19-aug-streak-2-1-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery/ for 6941. Worked fine, after reading all over the web though, I'm gonna say that something is "twitchy" about rooting and adding new ROMS on the streak though. I followed directions exactly from at least 6 different folks and there are still tons of questions being posted. I don't think it's peoples inability to follow directions, it's that what works for some, doesn't work for others.

Would anybody be willing to make a video on this I'm having a hard time witn all this

johnniedell: Different result for me:
I was an in the same situation as you were...
Streak US AT&T
Baseband version: unkown (used to say GAUSB1A111231-US, but not after numerous tries)
Kernel 2.6.29-perf
OEM version GAUSB1A111231
Build number 6601
Device is rooted. (Universal Andoroot)
Flashing the 4399 recovery image apparently works (says Done)
But as soon as it reboot and flash the Update.pkg (tried o2 stock 4399 1.6) I have the error message:
E: No Signature (972 files)
E: Verification Failed
After that I reboot and I'm back on AT&T 1.6. No harm done, so I've decided to try going direct to 6491 2.1.
No "E:" error message. It goes directly into loading the new ROM!!
However, after 2 reboots, it still doesn't pass the DELL logo screen!!! So I'm trying the one from Jays (apparently different from 4399 stock as the file doesn't have the same size). This time the home and menu buttons flashes all the time but I get all the way to the O2 screen and finally the Streak starts!!!!
Then I've applied the O2 2.1 6941, which at the end of the process produced a new screen with a green install progress bar and the info: DT: A3.724 Built date: Jul 7, 2010 10:03:09.
After that the system automatically proceeded to a factory reset and rebooted.
I thought I'd post my story in case it helped others!
Anyone still watching this thread?
I have an AT&T version of the Streak. I have the stuck logo, flashing lights issue. also. I think I've tried everything possible on these forums and had no luck yet. When I attempt to flash the stock rom (or any rom) it says "error in E: /sdcard/update.pkg.dec" My poor NEW Streak hasn't seen the face of Android UI in two days! PLEASE HELP ME!
Remember, O2 1.6 and 2.1 are not flashed from clockwork. Just put the Update.pkg in the ROOT of your SD card and use the stock recovery. There is not manual find for it. If you get stuck a the Dell Logo, do a factory reset and reboot.
Streak locked with Dell logo following update 2.2.
Hi guys.....Urgent I need help!!!!!!!....five days ago I have update to Froyo 2.2 (pack to baseband 00) from 1.6 in unlocked Streak to AT&T, baseband 31-US, version 6601....and now my Streak is dead and lock to Dell logo with black screen. I have intentend all recommendations in this thread and in Modaco, Streaksmart.com, etc, etc.....and nothing: my device is locked and dead,.....please I need help!!!!!!...any idea is apreciated.
Thanks.
Maurice.
I have yet to find a method or combination that works to update the new white Dell Streaks from Best Buy to any working version other than 1.6. I resolved the issue I had by flashing the original baseband and stock software back to the device. I guess I'll be waiting until there's an official update for this thing. Wear90, I would suggest you flash the original back on it and wait. Trying to get anything else is a headache of incredible proportions. Just sayin'
Hi, I need your help.
I bought a broken tablet that is blocked APX mode. The previous owner told me he had never rooted it or usb debugging enabled! So I tried to unbrick with various utilities. Nothing happens. When I try to flash the bootloader v8, I always get stuck after formatting the fourth partition. After it happens nothing. I thought that my partitions were wrong so I tried badsector (A501a.bat) but it stuck in the same place and still no error message. Anyone have an idea?
So I blocked here :
Formatting partition 2 BCT please wait.. done!
Formatting partition 3 PT please wait.. done!
Formatting partition 4 EBT please wait.. done!
Formatting partition 8 APP please wait.. done!
After that: nothing!!!
I'm sorry for my bad english.
Are you able to switch the tab on and connect to the PC?
If so, you could tray to downgrade it to the original boot loader and ROM.
This is a very useful tool:

everything but touch
So I've done everything I could, searched everywhere, and couldn't find anything to help me...
I'm running CMW 1.7, skrillax V8 bootloader, and Tegraowners_ICS_ROM_v170
My problem: Everything was working perfectly fine, then it didn't, after a reboot these didn't work
- touchscreen in both the recovery and primary ROM
- external microSD
- volume up/down and power button in both the primary and recovery ROM
- wifi connectivity (as in it would scan but never connect)
- terminal
- root became unreliable
- general glitchiness and unstable everything
- UI mixup with other ROMS (i.e. tegeraowners homescreen, but different ROMs lockscreen)
- settings crashing when going into developer options
What I've done to repair the damage;
--at first just charging the tablet would solve the problem..... but it snowballed and i did these in this order--
1. I tried doing a factory reset which, for a short period of time, worked
2. then installed a new ROM, also temperaroly solved it, finally, nothing would do it so I thought maybe the recovery ROM was corrupt (due to hanging on formatting cache for over 3 days)
3. tried installing new CWM from CWM... (stupid idea).
4. Then using blackthund3r I flashed the bootloader again and CWM 1.7 and that seemed to repair the volume buttons and the power buttons within CWM and the ROM, I did encounter an error when I pushed the BCT and it came up with "unable to find bct.dec" which...... sounds bad.
Now that I have flashed the bootloader and the recovery ROM, everything is working except the touchscreen in both the primary and recovery image.
... I have tried the EC, I have tried doing multiple factory resets... I believe that the problem might be with the BCT... any help would be awesome..
How about returning to the original boot loader and ROM?

Hello. I have an Acer Iconia Tab A200, and recently I tried a factory reset. However, due to my meddling with system files, it won't reset.
I've tried to do a hard reset (Power on, Volume+, Orientation lock switch) but it says the following:
Erasing Userdata...
Erasing Cache...
It then reboots, and does nothing. It hangs on the Acer logo.
When trying to go into recovery (Power On, Volume-), it says the following:
Erasing Cache before SD update...
SD update cmd: recovery
--update_package=SDCARD:update.zip
Booting recovery kernel image
Recovery verified fail ...
Now, I mentioned that I meddled with the System Files. Here is what I did:
1. Removed unwanted Vendor Apps
2. Removed the DEFAULT LAUNCHER <-- I think this plays a big part in this
3. Placed a CUSTOM LAUNCHER in the VENDOR APPS FILE
4. Did a FACTORY RESET
My brother is more techy than me, so he tried to fix it. However, he somehow re-locked the bootloader and even replaced the bootloader with a newer version.
I talked to Acer Support claiming it's system files corrupted itself, but they won't fix it unless I also pay to fix my cracked screen. I'm willing to do so, but hey, I'd like to see if I could save $120. I don't mind the cracked screen.
NOTES:
The Acer Iconia Tab A200, along with their other tablets, has a USB port. I can probably load stuff from there somehow, but not sure.
It is a 16GB model with a 32GB Class 10 MicroSD card in it.
Any ideas? All help is appreciated.

Do you have access to any a200 Update roms? Sometimes, you can pull the update.zip from the rom, place it on your ext sd card, reboot holding Vol+ and PWR, and it might install.

I have searched for some A200 ROMs, but can't find any that work using that method. I'm open for ANY Acer A200 official ROM, then simply updating using OTA. I tried an Acer A200 Recovery Pack I found. It is the exact stock Honeycomb image, but it didn't go. It always says recovery verified fail. I cannot unlock the BootLoader either.
Stockimage flashable while having bricked /DATA Partition
Hi Vuciz,
do you still have the issue with your bricked A200 ?
I got the same problem with mine, the only solution was to send it to repair, it seems the storage controller chip has some bug which destroyed the /DATA partition unrecoverable.
if you need to revert your Tablet to an locked bootloader you have to download an StockRom and modify it by removing the partition check (called "assert") in the update script.
please send me an message if you need further assistance.
regards and good luck with your tab.

Yes I do. However the screen is also cracked so they want me to pay for that. Which I'm unable to do at this time.

I also have this tablet. I bought it for 20 bucks because the screen was cracked. replaced the screen and then found out that the bootloader was trashed. I've done almost everything I can think of to fix it. Used APX mode to get UID from ubuntu, tried to use that UID to get sbk, got the SBK and then tried using blackthunder's tool got connection failure, tried using babsector same thing, even went in ubuntu, with tablet in manual apx mode for all three and when I attempt to reflash the bootloader, all I get is that command failure message with a nvflash connection failed nv error 0x30011 message and when that happens in windows, the tablet disappears from device manager, and in ubuntu when I run nvflash with the sbk function --sbk XXXX and so on, I get the command sent failure message, and then when i rerun lsusb, the nvidia device that represents my tablet in apx mode that showed before is no longer listed unless i reboot the tablet in apx mode again. If i boot it normally, the acer logo appears and then goes to the little animation and then the iconia tab screen and thats it. I've tried attempting to flash the bootloader from that screen which i know probably wasn't going to work anyways. If anyone has any advice on something I've missed, or anything that could help, i'll all eyes. thanks in advance.

Power + Vol+ + switch : same result
Connected to PC : adb devices : nothing
All commands adb or fastboot : waiting for device
I don't know what to do...

A coworker has given me an a500 to try and restore to a working conditiion. Here is the story I was given... Tablet was working fine but he had a pop up informing of an update. He ignored it for awhile but finally let it update and after it rebooted he was presented with a password screen. He has no clue what the password is. I don't know what the tablet was updated to and to my knowledge it is not rooted.
I have tried erasing user data by holding down volume up and power and toggling the screen lock switch back and fourth after the tablet vibrates. Tablet displays
Erasing Cache before SD update.
SD update cmd:recovery
--update_package=sdcard:update.zip.
Then displays in red Secure boot: image sos checksum fail. I have had a couple different update.zip files on the sdcard when trying this but none are successful and it never seems to erase user data as it always asks for a password.
I have also tried an EUU update and putting the tablet into apx mode manually but this to fails. I was able to get the CPUID off of the device using a thread on this forum and an Ubuntu installation.
I have poured over numberous threads and tried many things over the last couple days and have had no luck. I am look for some help in either just erasing user data so we can go through set up again or downgrading/rooting or what ever it takes to get the tablet in a usable state again. I have a little knowledge of rooting and using adb and have never tried ubuntu until this weekend.
Thanks
Can someone help me with this? Any suggestions?

theres a thread titled "will pay to get my tab fixed" actually there are 2, but in one of them I think the problem was resolved....I'll post a link to it if i can find it
oh... u say u used an update.zip - make sure it isnt still on yr sdcard???
out of interest what happens when u press power + vol UP - just wondering what bootloader the tab has...doing this will tell us
what part of apx mode failed???
i guess you've seen the SOS/LNX checksum thread???
you have a serious failure here, but hopefully not irrecoverable....fingers crossed
Hi, Thanks for responding. Its taken me a while to get back to this because of Thanksgiving and a project at work.
The update.zip is on the sd card. How do I move it the tablet?
When I press power + vol up the tablet vibrates then displays acer on the center of the screen. It then displays in the corner of the screen:
Erasing Cache before SD Update...
SD update cmd:recovery
--update_package=SDCARD:update.zip
Secure boot: image SOS checksum fail!
With the EUU update I run the PBJ20upgrade.exe. I then let it time out and manually put the tablet in apx mode. I then put in my CPUID and hit next. The tablet vibrates and displaces entering Acer download mode but the PBJ20upgrade.exe program displays that the upgrade process failed as soon as it vibrates.
The EUU update i tried was titled EUUs_SBK_Acer_A501_0.017.01_PA_ATT
Thanks again for the help
